I think the biggest reason why Cleric is the least picked class is because most people keep Shadowheart in the party and don't want to overlap with her.
i tend to agree with this...plua a cleric ideally needs con and some dex and even a little str which means you're never going to be the face (which is the other huge factor...I think many people want their char to be the face hence the extra popularity of paladin and sorc.
@FriendlyArchpriest true but I dont think the stat is taking into account multiclassing cuz otherwise itd be all over the place with almost everyone dipping into at least one other class for a level or 2
This. Most people are going to make their character a party face unless ur in a coop campaign. And even then, it's only because someone else is already doing it. Their tav is essentially the main character, so having a class you can have high charisma in to actually talk to people makes sense. Especially since the memes are so popular of people doing crazy shenanigans, just with dialogue options. People are naturally gonna try to replicate those.
The best party face is level 1 Rogue, 16 dex, 16 cha, charlatan, with proficiency in almost every social skill, and expertise in perception and deception. Then multiclass into any cha class to get stronk.
I went Wizard and had some success with detect thoughts, however this seems to have fallen off in act 2. The real problem is I am going into a CHA skill check conversation, I switch to a CHA character, and it switches over to the TAV. Its frustrating because this doesn't happen consistently.
For Mass Effect, a rare thing I did that was satisfying: let Wrex die or not meet him in 1. In 2, don't save Maelon's data... this makes Eve die in 3 (nothing you do in ME3 but your decisions on Mordin's loyalty mission in 2), and IF BOTH Wrex and Eve are nowhere to be found and Wreav is krogan leader and kept unchecked, Mordin Solus agrees to sabotage the cure, so you don't have to kill him, he doesn't make a sacrifice, and lives. There are special messages related to that and I don't think many people got those. Really cool for second or third run when you want to see interactions with Wreav anyway.
The idea behind the Halfling Bard is that the only way your Bard is going to fail a dialogue choice (Charisma check) is if you roll a Natural 1. Halfling's reroll their Natural 1's. Therefore my Honour Mode Halfling Bard only had a 1/400 chance of failing their checks instead of 1/20. Long story short, I never failed a single check in my Honour mode run.
My God, the numbers speak for themselves. The secret to beating Honour Mode was hidden in plain sight all along. We have to try to pet His Majesty for a guaranteed successful run!
@@kiro253 Yeah monk is nuts with tavern brawler, doesnt matter how tough the enemy is you can hit them and likely knock them down. Duel class 3 levels in thief for another reaction to use even more attacks.
Betrayed is a strong word overall, since he's a gas-lighting sack of crap (literally any challenging question to him is met with insults and playing the victim, and every set back is somehow your fault) who has betrayed everyone he has ever worked with or who has cared for him. The only reason he doesn't this time is because your Tav is either stupid enough or wilfully ignorant enough to drink the kool-aid and do everything he wants. The perfect patsy.
@@stitchowi so his choice was: 1) fall back under the brain control 2) try to fight with us against the brain and fall back under its control He choses the first one. Like what?? I was skeptic but overall positive about him till he tried to "romance" me up. Then I was like no, but I get it, you were single for long so its all right, I won't hold it against you. And then he takes the most idiotic route at the end. The issue with him absorbing Orpheus isn't that he would give a tentacle guy super powers that can make him insanely strong. The issue is that the apparently only thing in the entire universe which holds the brains and tentacles back is Orpheus. So, killing him is, as far as I'm concerned a long term mistake. He is super valuable alive and the overall peace in the universe is on his shoulders. Which is also why I convinced him to stay alive as a tentacle guy at the end. Sure, it sucks but I'm not going to become a tentacle guy. Yet, I can tell that killing that dude would be a bad bad move.
@@aekritleborgne1065 well… 1. Most people on their first playthrough aren’t probably going to sacrifice anyone. 2. Most people playing Honor Mode are NOT on their first playthrough. 3. Whether you sacrificed Gale or not, you still had to navigate 50 to 70 hours of Honor Mode difficulty and combat to successfully get to the end. Plus - you get the achievement whether you did the extra work or not against the Elder Brain…so, ‘hate the game, not the player’.
The Emperor throws the biggest tantrum at the pivotal moment. "You won't listen to me and do as I say and still want to release Orpheus? Fine, I'm going to join the bad guys."
I believe it’s because the Emperor prioritizes freedom, survival, and power all in that order. He needs to be free of the Netherbrain, but if Orpheus is freed he will most certainly be killed for everything he’s done up to this point. So he has to turn to survival. I think he could’ve expressed it a bit better. If he said “By freeing him you’ve ordered my execution. I do NOT take that lightly. I will join with the Netherbrain and spare myself that execution. How disappointing,” it could’ve made his intentions more clear. Realistically, the artifact and Orpheus’ power are the only things keeping the Emperor autonomous. If Orpheus forces him to leave, he will join the Netherbrain automatically. And if Orpheus kills him, everything he’s worked for will be for nothing and he will die. It’s a lose lose for him.
@@Rexis102 Yeah, but then they turn around and go "alright now we totally need one of us to become a Mindflayer. Too bad we didn't conveniently have someone available that was already one, oh well."
@@AirLancer Orpheus would never allow The Emperor to have *that* important of a role in his plan. Orpheus has a (valid) personal vendetta against The Emperor. TE has also proven he’s manipulative. We have not. Orpheus questions and tests us before making a full judgement call. He has his suspicions and raises his doubts, but we can earn his trust. I still think it’s written in a poor way, don’t get me wrong. But the Emperor had no good way out once we had the Orphic Hammer and intended to use it.
I got really angry the other day. I'm playing durge warlock so obviously I have to have the greatest robe in the game for the warlock. But at the same time I was going to romance minthara for the very first time since I've never recruited her. You cannot romance her without raiding the grove which results in alfira's death. That also means I don't get the armor of persistence or the boots or the dreadshot or any of the other good stuff. So what I decided to do was to use mods to summon in the tutorial chest and the barrel and pulled out everything that was related to their quest rewards and purchasable and just throw it in my camp storage and only use it when I would normally get access to it. I honestly feel that you lose out on so much of this game just from raiding the Grove in the very first act. It's honestly such a disappointment that you lose out on what feels like around 20% of this game just from a single choice in the very first act. Even after a year and a lot of updates to the evil playthrough aspects it seems like evil playthroughs will always get these short end of the stick every single time.
That was such a dick move on Larian's part. The default Durge is a sorceror with no armor or shield specialization, but then they intentionally made it impossible for Durge to get the best robe in the game without metagaming.
@@riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiipIf you want to recruit Minthara without raiding the grove in the future, you can turn on and use a non-lethal attack to knock her out when you attack her in the goblin camp. This will still allow you to recruit her in her normal place in act 2. This was added in in one of the patches after launch and I just did it in my current playthrough, so it does work.
I saw some people that are genuinely mad about it, but I think it’s quite cool. After hours spent into the game, some people are bound to get curious as to what else the game offers outside the usual “righteous” path. An ending only 34 people have seen, this just shows how incredible Larian is.
That is the one that really blew my mind. That there were hundreds of thousands of some interactions, millions of others, and only 34 of this one particular result. That just shows how deep this game really is that amongst millions of possibilities only 34 have found this one. Wild!
13:16 My bet is it's the movement speed. Any race that has lower movement speed gets played less. Hence Dwarf, Halfling and Gnome occupying the bottom 3. Literally nothing is worse than being 0.0000005m away from being able to make a melee attack and then you have to used ranged at disadvantage. But just in general the most op thing you can do is be mobile, it gives you a tremendous advantage in fights. Such as kiting melee enemies with ranged attacks just to give an example.
I think it's moreso that with romance in the game, it kindof seems weird to romance regular length characters while you are like less than a meter tall or smth lol. I'm more surprised that dragonborn is so high but it's likely because the default durge starts as one.
I can feel that fact in my bones! I love a dwarf beast master, but at level 6 I had to bail after just one too many instances of failing to get into melee range at a crucial point in combat. And that’s with _Longstrider_ active.
I played a Dwarf melee Ranger. It's not so bad. Especially with the cap of momentum and longstrider, and later misty step. Very rarely am I just out of range.
Maybe 34 out of the 34 that played Lae'Zel and reached that point in game. Mine was destroyed by the Gith Patrol Act 1 just because I wanted to roleplay and give the artefact to them. Then betrayed by Vlaakith when she said I hadn't kill the one inside despite doing that straight as a Roleplay Lae'Zel would do... Maybe i'll reach that kind of proposal, for now i'm just out of Rosemary Monastery.
The Gale blow himself up stat is an early ending. You can blow Gale up in act 2 when the 3 baddies are together if you have Gale in Parfty. Resulting in ending the game before you finish act 2 and entire party is dead. You get end credits scene and even the achievement for finishing the game. And the Emperor romance has an achievement attached to it. So in one of my playtroughs i quicksaved ran trough the romance options real quick, reloaded my safe as a shower to wash him off me after the walk of shame home and pretend it never happened.
" it is an Ending..of sorts.." Hundreds of Mindflayers will appear suddenly across the Sword Coast as thier tadpoles, no longer controlled by the Absolute , will finish thier Ceromorphosis..
There is an ending, in Act 3, where Gale blows up the brain, and it counts as a proper ending. I'm fairly sure that stat refers to that ending rather than the early "fake" ending you can get in Act 2 (since the stat is under "endings" which lists the other proper endings)
The player class statistics always seem off to me. How are they counting multi-class? Is it based on which is your 1st class only, or do they count all? Is it based on which is majority? It would explain why Sorcerer is so high with all the starting for cons proficiency for only one level (a 1 sorcerer / 11 wizard counts as sorcerer?). Also I think Cleric and Wizard are so low since many people just use Gale and Shadowheart as Wizard and Cleric instead.
@JasonBridgman-JAB pretty sure it's just based on the starting classes and not multiclassing or respecs. Popularity numbers would be too hard to judge if they included those because almost every player has multiclassed at least once for a level or 2, so how would you determine which class players like more if you did that. Classes like Bard and Rogue would shoot through the roof because so many multiclass builds use their subclasses, like ranger builds that use college of swords or thief for extra bonus actions.
I did try but refused to kiss him once the evil angry goddess ex he's still obsessed with cape up. Danced with Wyll instead. (My half-elf is failing at eating hot chip, charge her phone and be bisexual).
I shipped around every romance in my first playthrough (which I just ended some days ago since I have the game just for some weeks) and had to turn down Gale, Halsin and the Emperor.... I never tried to romance anyone just reacted with answers I would take just to be nice....
That's probably almost everyone who played before the patch that fixed it. I believe you got the accidental romance just by giving him magic items and taking Elminster to him (I remember getting it in my first playthrough where I never spoke to him outside of his quest)
Especially since it requires you to take the obviously awkward dialogue option. Let's be honest, did anyone think their character would figure he/she was supposed to kiss a Mindflayer's 'mouth'?
Both Scratch and the Owlbear cub have been petting more times than the Elder Brain destroyed. LOL. Also, I'm one of those stats for completed Honor Mode! Tons of fun, I probably spent more time planning out each fight than actually fighting. The single most dangerous fight though was actually the Gith at the bridge in Act 1.
I always like to play a human in a magical world, because I can relate to a human and I am a "basic" character so all the fantastical stuff feels way more fantastic, if that makes sense
i agree even though half-orc better as an paladin, i cant make myself so ugly to just metagame...though it sucks that larian took extrafeat from human and gave us shitty extra carryweight, thats more like half-orc feat...
I get your feeling about this. For me, Elves have insanely long life spans, which means "I" could experience this magical world way longer. So I rather go with that
@@macross3730 There's a half-elf/orc subrace mod that basically fixed that issue, it's grand to get that Savage Attack extra hit die while still lookin' good.
Thanks for posting about this! I saw this on Larian's IG and found it really interesting. The one about Lae'zel is the one that really blew my mind. But the gith race is just too ugly they might as well be just aliens, or just straight up little primates/monkeys
no clue you could make the cat hairless. Also, if you keep the ball from camp, you can summon scratch to have as a companion while you are out exploring. He makes finding diggable mounds available for some extra treasure on the maps.
Tbf, that feature of Scratch is completely irrelevant if you have it show you passive checks (which by default it does). Every time one of those survival checks comes up, you can just whip out the shovel and dig it up anyway even if you fail the check.
Scratch is actually kinda useful for some combat scenarios too. He has the ability to "help" other companions which can come in really handy when you're in a tricky situation. Definitely make sure to hide Scratch so that he doesn't get hurt though since his HP is really low
@@Jxrfv456y if he gets hurt you just resummon him after next short rest. If anything, surviving extra hit because Shovel, Scratch, or Gale's familiar absorb it is a boon.
@@KasumiRINA I know he doesn't permanently die but his HP is so low that he easily goes out in one hit which is useless when I'm trying to keep him alive for the later stages of the battle when a companion is down. An elemental summon is usually better for drawing and surviving a decent amount of hits. Also I don't want to use Scratch as the decoy/bait, that feels too mean
Yup I did barrel mancy too. Load all your characters up with as much barrels as they can carry then head to that last fight and have one character that can carry the most run into the middle where the dragon is and drop everything then transfer more stuff to him from the other character and drop it then use disengage spread it out around the area so all the tough enemies are getting hit misty step out of there and drop a big fire spell or arcane tower attack and BOOM, everything dies. Then you just have to deal with a few mind flayers while opening a path to the brain. Brain itself is pretty easy without using barrels.

From a lot of videos I've seen, it seems a lot of folks pick Astarion or Shadowheart for solo runs. Astarion gets his +1 for biting and Shadowheart can breeze thru Act 2 without needing the moonlantern. I don't know how common those two examples are, but that may influence the origin character stats.
It's so fast getting to lantern tho? I started from Grymforge and just ran into Drider and told him to give it to me for Absolute and giggles... I DID use Lathander weapon and cast light/flame in hand thingy on characters before that tho.
@@KasumiRINA Yeah...I don't quite get it either. I guess if you are solo you may not have the power to defeat as many baddies in act 2, so people want to level up more via exploring then go back and fight drider man? Or just wait and grab the lantern from moonrise? I've never tried solo so I don't really know if it's worth it or necessary. The Blood of Lathander is so perfect for act 2!
I’m think it’s because at level one they look weak, and summoning only comes later, so most people that would pick Druid would probably go with wizard (yeah ik it’s ironic)
Well, I think the reason for this is the same reason wizard and cleric are low. You get access to not just one, but TWO druid companions in the game. They're a WIS class and don't front well, especially if you want to be silly and walk around wild shaped all the time since you have to drop it to actually talk to people. It was my personal first character. I'm not much of a gamer and went in with plenty of Dnd knowledge but knew very little about the gameplay. Took roughly 10 hours of rage inducing learning curves for me to finally figure out the mechanics and the thing that kept me playing through the frustration was the fact that my silly little wild shape bear could sit in chairs and climb ladders. But now that I know the game, i wouldn't pick druid as my own class either, I'd re-spec someone or just wait until getting the others. The game is infinitely easier to play with a CHA party front, and the re-spec mechanic allows you to play all the classes you like anyway. I just picked Wizard to be a necromancer and I am STRUGGLING on dialogue checks.
Nothing weird about Pala and Sorc being top class picks. They're charisma scaling classes, which is the most natural choice for party's leader. You can delegate combat prowess to companions, reset their classes and treat CHA as dump stat, but in many cases in dialogues you will not be allowed to make final choice as an "extra", so being able to win dialogue rolls as MC while still capable of handing out asswhoopings gives Palas and Sorcs advantage in character creation with first time players.
Bard is technically better than both (swords bard is BROKEN, and is a better shooter than ranger too) but yeah, I played BG1 & 2 as Pally, main in IWD was Paladin, NWN had Pal/Champion of Thorm nad Pal/Sorc second run, with Deekin kobold bard as henchman, NWN2 Favoured Soul (Divine version of Sorcerer), and later Bioware games kind of default to Jedis and Shepard being Paladins... IN SPACE. Only game without Paladin-ish character is Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition. DAO has Arcane Warrior. A tanky, charismatic fighter/mage hybrid with heals is THE default hero character in games where you need utility and there's a lot of dialogue.
I've just seen her kisses due to the kisses mod and they're surprisingly sweet. I'm too soft to do non-resist Durge or just evil playthroughs, but always recruit her later. Love her insight, wisdom, anger and yet surprising softness. Also she's fun to do battles with. So I understand all the smooches.
For Humans, it's probably Paladin, Fighter and ... idk, Sorcerer ? Half-Orcs I guess it's Barbarian, Paladin and something else. For Githyankis ... I hate them, so I don't care 🗿
I think part of it is because of how Wildshaping works, it takes a lot of fun out of speccing out your character. Lots of really useful abilities you get from multiclassing don't work while you're wildshaped (even when they logically should) like the Light Cleric's Warding Flare, or they're clunky. Like say you want to multiclass into Druid/Barbarian. You can only rage in combat, so if you're a Moon Druid you normally can't rage and wildshape on the same turn. You can't wildshape ahead of time because then you don't even have the option to Rage once combat starts. If you're any other kind of druid, then you can do it in one turn, but unless you're hasted you have no actions left to do anything with. Fighters' Action Surge? Can't be used while wildshaped. Rogue's cunning actions? Nope. DIVINE SMITE? No. So on and so forth. Going further, almost all equipment effects don't work when you're wildshaped. Lots of feats don't work or fully apply when you're wildshaped either, so it's just kind of frustrating and saps the fun out of using the class' main gimmick. Take Great Weapon Master for example, a Water Myrmidon can use the extra damage feature, but the bonus action attack won't work for no real reason besides it being too hard for them to code I guess. And while Druids do get access to good spells, they're not as good at being spellcasters as other dedicated spellcaster classes. Their best abilities come really late into their level progression, so they're not good for small dips since they don't offer much at low levels that you can't get from other classes. Combine that with them being a Wisdom class, so you're not going to have high Charisma for all those dialogue checks.
@AirLancer i mean spore druids can in fact "wild shape"(use their special bonus health thingy that uses wild shape charges) pre fight and then rage in the fight and it even synergyzes pretty nicely if you got the resistance rage to make the bonus health last longer
@@Corundrom Well, I was specifically talking about actual wild shaping. Symbiotic Entity is more flexible, but wild shaping has so many caveats while being the Druids' main gimmick that separates it from other classes. In any case to me Symbiotic Entity still isn't great, the temp HP scales off of druid level so you still have to invest more levels into Druid for it, and Necrotic damage is one of the most commonly resisted damage types in the game. The best thing about Druids is just the sheer amount of summons they can have.
@@testchannelnamechange *Commander Zhalk dies* Mind Flayer: "You are no longer needed." Bro there are TWO CAMBIONS RIGHT THERE, what are you talking about?!

What I wonder is how much people choose something because of roleplay vs optimal. For example: I will choose Wood Elf because of roleplay vs because of increased move speed (or human because of Shield Proficiency). Or I will play as a good guy because of roleplay vs I will get this and this items. For Astarion as main character I think that reason is that you want a good rogue in your party and one way is to play as Astarion as preventive measure to avoid his disapproval.
I would rather play as a good rogue myself in this case? I think Astarion simps are just that, people who like the character. Best class powergaming-wise is BARD, not Paladin, but most people don't know that and Pallies are simpler and are JUST complex enough to get dialogue stuff and a few cool skills compared to fighters. My run is Wood Half-Elf Sorcadin and reasons for race are both shallow: half-elves had the only preset face I liked, and Wood ones, yes, got great passives and I wanted a tan hero. Half of your party are High Elves so it was a good choice for variety... Class, I almost always play Paladins but added Sorc levels when I found Necronomicon and wanted to get Shovel permanently. So had Gale write down the spell, cast it, and adopt it as a spell-shite. xD
I would guess it's because Astarion's story got them invested when they played tav/durge. If Durge was available as a companion, Astarion would have been the first non-custom PC i tried.
Being a regular old human, in a world filled with fantastical races, monsters and realms, is (imo) the ultimate experience. All the other magical stuff has a clear advantage, and yet through pure determination and bravery/stupidity, humanity persist and somehow thrives, how is that not appealing?
My full playthrough character was a Half-Orc Ranger Knight / Champion Fighter. Went a Crit build and it was a ton of fun, sad to see so few people playing Half-Orc!
I think Durge would be chosen much more often if we didn't get shorted by not having him available as a companion. I've seen a lot of people avoid him because they 'just can't be evil'. If his cannon version had been a companion option, i feel like most of those players would have picked him as their first origin run, since they'd have his story to explore (already knowing they can choose good if they want) and they'd still get to customize their character
@@saribeepo.o5111 tbh people still took him mainly anyways. It was one of the most popular choices. Yet the character itself is not a companion origin making him appear (if wasn't picked previously) as a dead corpse before act 3 or something.
I think it's more that Gale's appearance screams Fighter if you know nothing about the game, and as the game had time to sit and more people got into it with more info going in, they had more of an idea who the characters actually were
I did my first successful Honor mode run as Astarion origin. You do not get a lot of bonus content, just a couple of cutscenes and bonus dialogue for when you reveal your vampirism I did manage to find out two interesting Astarion facts: 1. If you go through Act 2 without your companions finding out you are a vampire... they will automatically know at the start of Act 3. Disappointing. 2. If you choose to Ascend as a Paladin Astarion, you will NOT fall. I found this hilarious since it's pretty much the most evil thing you can do (and you fall if you allow a companion Astarion to Ascend)
I was trying to romance shadowheart the whole game and then didn’t realize till act 3 that I didn’t meet all the parameters. I assumed it wouldn’t kick off until after the Gauntlet of Shar companion quest.
For me it's because of D&D 5E rules that removes the racial stats. It just takes again the uniqueness of the race. Why pick a dwarf or an halfling when an orc can do better. They should just remove racial passives atr that point, it would be more fair.
8:52 kinda missing the point, that's one of the answer you get from Astarion if you try to spend the night with him (without the approval to back it up) :)
It has many updates (and mods) since. I couldn't play it on release (GTX 1060 that survived pandemic with caveat of turning off PC on graphically heavy games) but now it's smooth sailing with easy to get ALL companions on a good run.
I think the fewer people spending the night with Shadowheart in the act one celebration can be explained by having that night with her before the celebration, since you can sleep with her before that if her approval of you is high enough, but then she won't spend the celebration night with you.
The number is lower because the pool of people is much larger. Way more people have experienced Act 1 romance versus the people who have experienced an Act 3 romance.
@@YearOneThorn still, in act 1 you have EITHER Sharty or Karlach or sleep alone (options game gave me were about touching myself when thinking about either Gale or Wyll), but in act 3 there's like 9 party members you can romance. So having LESS out of 2 (or alone) vs having out of 9 is interesting.
By far the best way to play BG3 is by creating 4 instances of the game to multiplay with yourself and using the unlimited companions mod. You get to role play as 4 characters, have 4 different romances and by the end it really feels like you've built a small army.
Human's extra carry capacity might be a factor. Also both humans and half-elves get light armor + shield proficiencies to help them survive as sorcerers. Some people already pointed out sorcerer over wizard for dialogue checks. But there is also the fact that sorcs get metamagic (when I didn't play as a sorc myself I would respec gale into one). And some of the PnP advantages of Wizard don't really carry over as well to bg3.
The Emperor is a prick. He literally threatens to enslave you if you choose the right dialogue when he's coming on to you. He may not be objectively evil but he's extremely selfish, which justifies me betraying him every playthrough.
He's the embodiment of the old Neutral Evil alignment. Everything he says or does is for himself, ultimately, and bereft of any sort of code of conduct or morality.
The game is also riddled with hints about his deceptive nature. Tav is a tool, a means to an end. The Emperor is probably just a bit more fond of this particular tool compared to others, but purely from a selfish point of view.
Just finished my first play through. With my brothers. The three of us had a lot of fun. I kept scratch with us the whole time and he often delivered, from occasionally helping our downed bard to releasing Dame Aylin during the fight with Ketherik to last night, drinking a potion of giant strength and facing off against the dragon alongside our Owlbear and Strange Ox.

I killed the brain with the buddies... and after i became what i hunt.. Lae'zel accepted me as her own, we flew away into the sunset making out on top of the red dragon... 😂
I'd be interested to know how many NPC's either were or were not interacted with. Of my (currently 10) runs on my XBox version of the game I have only 1 where Rolan and Mattis aren't there, and I have no idea of how I managed that. This is- as millions of folks have said- a great, great game.

I used to he a Paladin/sorc or Paladin/Warlock Original tav...in my last playthru i did an Half-orc barb(5)berzerker/fighter(4)champion/rogue(3)thief....throwing stuff, i kept the bracer and the ring the whole game. Its SO STRONG, i will have a hard time playing something else. When you throw and tey to remove invuln on Orin, 1 throw count for 3 attack, because you get the throw, then 2x 1d4 extra damage and they count as an attack on their own. You get to throw twice for your normal attack and then one time for bonus attack, and an9ther time for your sec9nd bonus attack necause of thief. So y9u throw 4 times per round, if you haste/pot, thats the attack. With tavern brawler...you add your str bonus TWICE per throw... If you are clever a bit, you can throw ennemies down in precipices...or....you can use smaller ennemies and throw them on other ennemies. Which make them be prone... So you prone 2 ennemy with 1 attack....and then you can throw on them for a guaranteed crit. Or just set up the ennemies for your party. I did that build for a multiplayer run...Most fun i had in an rpg EVER. If someone read this...try it out. Or....invite me for a playthru! I'll be your throwing barbarian with pleasure!
I think in that ending all the tadpoles instantly transform so while the nether brain is destroyed there are now a bunch of roaming illithid. Did it in my first playthrough to see the outcome and the narrator said something about that and how there could have been a better way.
I think Gale choosing to sacrifice himself at the end can be fitting ending. My first play through he tried to convince me to sacrifice himself at moonrise. I refused and talked him out of it. Sometimes he genuinely brings it up out of concern that at least no one becomes a mind flyer this way. I see it as, every day Gale lived after that point is a gift.
yea true, we really didnt betray him, idk why they chose to word it like that 💀 like.. you guys created an evil and deceptive character who was never to be trusted… idk what you want from me 😂 play into his trap??? why??? 😂
13:13 I think most people, when they think of a Dwarf, they think of a short, long bearded, round belly, thick armed angry man with a gruffy voice. But the bodybuilder physique, with the lack of a majestic beard and a deem gruffy voice, made people steer away from dwarves.. At least that's my reasoning.
I kinda love the morality of the Emperor, he is a true neutral character. He just wants to survive and will do anything to achieve that goal leading him doing a lot of good and evil things. Unfortunately for him I wanted to save Orpheus, was sad about Ansur, and there wasn't a way to save him and Orpheus like trap him until the nether brain was defeated.
You don’t need to play evil to get Minthara. If you non-lethal her fight in the temple, you can get her later in Ketheric’s lair. They bring her in as a prisoner and you can free her.
Cleric is probably my favorite class to play in BG3. I like the spells and tend to play a cleric that focuses more on dealing damage while i have shadowheart focus more on healing. Plus it really helps having 2 good healers in the party during a tough battle that have a 70hp healing spell
Even on a good playthrough, to get her you need to know that you have to non lethal her in the goblin camp and then you only get her like half way through act 2 and this wasn't even in since release I think.
I like to play sorcerer for three reason. A Sorcerer's are charisma caster, so I can still be the face like a bard but also cast fireball. B Meta Magic makes me feel like im contributing more in combat, whereas wizards I don't tend to have thay same feeling. C which is silly but.........the aesthetic for a sorcerers drip(and the draconic adding extra cosmetic) makes the sorcerers look and feel cool, where I don't see the same with wizard. Example, the storm sorcerer robe color looks 👌
It makes sense Cleric would be the least picked class for Tav when you consider that: 1. Most people keep Shadowheart in the party 2. Cleric requires more spread in stats than other classes and there's nothing left for Charisma which is very important for the party face
9:00 There was a problem for a long time where you could accidentally romance certain companions and get locked out of other romance options. This was especially noticible with Gale wanting to show you some "magic" and players (me) not understanding that he doesn't *actually* mean spells. Even if you rejected the advances, it still locked you out of other romance options.
I guess i'm one of those people who have never picked a Custom Character because it just doesn't work outside of tabletop. The thing is, when you're playing DnD, you're collaborating with your DM to create a story and experience. Your DM can make a story that is unique to you. Integrated into the campaign. Make you feel like you're a part of the world. But in Baldur's Gate games, it doesn't work because there is no DM, unless you count the narrator as DM but she is not a DM, technically. Tav is basically a hand holder or a backseat gamer. You're hand holding your companions while you have nothing going on beside the tadpole, that's not DnD nor roleplaying because you're not part of the world. You don't create your own story because your story doesn't exist in the game. It's only exist in your head. My first playthrough was The Dark Urge and it's always him since. It's Baldur's Gate, so i gotta continue the tradition. And boy, was he the true protagonist of this game.
@@someguyonyt2831 And additionally, I prefer to use custom character as I don't want to be "restrained" by a pre-set past. Maybe that is because as someone never played table top, the mindset is flipped?
@@JSiuDev No, not at all. It depends on how you feel and want. A lot of players who've played DnD played Custom Character as their first playthrough and The Dark Urge as their second or just stick to Custom Character ever. There is no inherently wrong or right way to play this game. My comment is entirely how i feel about the Custom Character as it's dissatisfied me to no end because you're supposed to be able to roleplay and make you feel like you're part of that world, whether it's your background story or your actions. Most roleplaying games, you're not a blank slate character. You always have something going on that's unique to you and put yourself into the world. For example, Dragon Age Origins and Mass Effect, you have multiple backgrounds to choose from and the world will have a unique interaction with you and also have unique quests and dialogues for you. That's kinda it. I could go on and on about why Tav aka Custom Character is dissatisfied me to no end but i think you already know the most of it, so i'm not gonna bother you with it :)
Wow about the Lae Zel origin playthrough. I'm actually currently in a Lae Zel origin playthrough, I'm in the House of Hope right now. I'm leaving my options open for the moment. But I have to make a final decision soon.
I think the biggest reason why Cleric is the least picked class is because most people keep Shadowheart in the party and don't want to overlap with her.
What about a level 1 dip in Cleric for Armor and Weapon Proficiencies or even the Knowledge Cleric for Expertise in Relgion and Arcana?
i tend to agree with this...plua a cleric ideally needs con and some dex and even a little str which means you're never going to be the face (which is the other huge factor...I think many people want their char to be the face hence the extra popularity of paladin and sorc.
@@StoneDigitalArtCanadayeah, every time I’ve played I’ve chosen a charisma focused class (bard, sorcerer, and warlock)
@FriendlyArchpriest true but I dont think the stat is taking into account multiclassing cuz otherwise itd be all over the place with almost everyone dipping into at least one other class for a level or 2
Another reason is the healing spells don’t keep up with the DPS. Better to have more action economies dishing out damage and ending the fight sooner.
Sorcerer and Paladin are so popular for Tav's because they're Charisma based Classes, perfect for a party face
Best non-Charisma party face class is Barbarian.
CHANGE MY MIND
The best party face is level 1 Rogue, 16 dex, 16 cha, charlatan, with proficiency in almost every social skill, and expertise in perception and deception. Then multiclass into any cha class to get stronk.
I went Wizard and had some success with detect thoughts, however this seems to have fallen off in act 2. The real problem is I am going into a CHA skill check conversation, I switch to a CHA character, and it switches over to the TAV. Its frustrating because this doesn't happen consistently.

The Emperor throws the biggest tantrum at the pivotal moment. "You won't listen to me and do as I say and still want to release Orpheus? Fine, I'm going to join the bad guys."
Strangest heel turn

I'd argue that if you're playing a Durge mage character, you kinda have to find a way to save Alfira. The robe she gives is really good
I got really angry the other day.

Technally it was the first ending I got. The final fight went South so I just detonated Gale as a resign button lol
They pick your starting class from character creation
@JasonBridgman-JAB pretty sure it's just based on the starting classes and not multiclassing or respecs. Popularity numbers would be too hard to judge if they included those because almost every player has multiclassed at least once for a level or 2, so how would you determine which class players like more if you did that. Classes like Bard and Rogue would shoot through the roof because so many multiclass builds use their subclasses, like ranger builds that use college of swords or thief for extra bonus actions.

I think people chose asterion for the lure of playing as a vampire. Shadowheart because the romance stats show us how much everyone simps for her.
After finding out the secret of the emperor in Wyrms Rock. There was no forgiving what he did. I wont ever trust him
I'm surprised druid players are so low. Druid is a huge amount of fun to play!
I’m think it’s because at level one they look weak, and summoning only comes later, so most people that would pick Druid would probably go with wizard (yeah ik it’s ironic)
No extra attack and other spellcasters have better spell variety
me too! my first playthrough was a druid.
the thing about druid for me is BG3 has such amazing and interesting gear, 95% of which doesn't work in wildshape forms 😿
I played Drow Bard for my first playthrough, it was tons of fun but I switched to Half-Orc Paladin named Shrek for my honour mode playthrough
Shrek is love, Shrek is life! ♥
I'm responsible for easily 100,000 of those Minty smooches 8:03
I've just seen her kisses due to the kisses mod and they're surprisingly sweet. I'm too soft to do non-resist Durge or just evil playthroughs, but always recruit her later. Love her insight, wisdom, anger and yet surprising softness. Also she's fun to do battles with. So I understand all the smooches.
Easily the other ones are mine!
Hold on, the Info graphic for popular class choice for races is missing Humans and Half-Orcs.
And Gith
was looking for this post. Weird it's missing those 3
Yeah probably also mostly Paladins. After NWN I do make elf Paladin where possible tho.
For Humans, it's probably Paladin, Fighter and ... idk, Sorcerer ? Half-Orcs I guess it's Barbarian, Paladin and something else. For Githyankis ... I hate them, so I don't care 🗿
4:40 no info on the Gith race?
The disrespect for Druid is wild (pun intended). Imo the best class because you can build it so many fun ways
It was my 1st playthrough. And I'll probably play one again at some point. Especially since I was so clueless about the game my 1st run.
I always assumed it's because there are two Druid companions
Speedrunning could contribute to how popular Origin Gale is, I believe it’s the optimal path for any% and probably requires a lot of resetting
that 34 players thing is just such a huge flex and they know it 😭

half-orcs get great passives, of course they are getting picked.
Plus orcs are badass. I'd rather be an orc than a hafling or something
Did Dark Urge. Got Minthara, romance scene in Act 1. Got her max companionship. Killed all the bhaalspawn. The butler said I'd picked the right choice of 'the drow'. Then when I seized the crown, she was the only one not under the influence of the ilithid. The smile she had for me was peak!
So had Gale write down the spell, cast it, and adopt it as a spell-shite. xD
@@KasumiRINAITS FISTING TIIIIME
I would guess it's because Astarion's story got them invested when they played tav/durge. If Durge was available as a companion, Astarion would have been the first non-custom PC i tried.
Being a regular old human, in a world filled with fantastical races, monsters and realms, is (imo) the ultimate experience. All the other magical stuff has a clear advantage, and yet through pure determination and bravery/stupidity, humanity persist and somehow thrives, how is that not appealing?
“How many people killed Wulbren?”
Not enough.
My full playthrough character was a Half-Orc Ranger Knight / Champion Fighter. Went a Crit build and it was a ton of fun, sad to see so few people playing Half-Orc!
half orc life cleric went full cleric
we don't betray the emperor, he's stubborn and refuses to go along with our plan to see if it will work
I feel that Durge origin character deserves more recognition as other preset origins. It's a very cool one!
Gale origin used to be number 1. I think astarrion has extra story though so a lot of people wanted to do it with their second or third playthrough
likely due to speedruns
ironically Astarion's Origin doesnt have much content, its mostly Tav-starion. Every other origin has more going on for them.
I think it's more that Gale's appearance screams Fighter if you know nothing about the game, and as the game had time to sit and more people got into it with more info going in, they had more of an idea who the characters actually were
I did my first successful Honor mode run as Astarion origin. You do not get a lot of bonus content, just a couple of cutscenes and bonus dialogue for when you reveal your vampirism
I did manage to find out two interesting Astarion facts: 1.
10:12 I'm proud to say that in my very first playthrough I contributed to both the bear and the tentacle statistics 😌
I went against the emperor because... my girl Lazel
I was trying to romance shadowheart the whole game and then didn’t realize till act 3 that I didn’t meet all the parameters. I assumed it wouldn’t kick off until after the Gauntlet of Shar companion quest.
Dwarves, Gnomes, and Halflings are the least chosen races. Why do they get the short end of the stick?
Can’t believe all 3 got looked over by so many
I guess playing them fell short of expectations for many.
We aren't falling short of puns here, at least.
They're just dwarfed by the amount of people who want to undress an elf.
I’m kicking myself so hard for not getting the game on launch day, I just started 2 weeks ago
why? it's a singleplayer game, it's not like you missed the game being populated or something.
@revolversnake126 maybe for the simple fact of enjoying it sooner
I was kicking myself for not having a PC til it dropped for my console months later
i mean you get the benefit of enjoying all the updates that have come out since launch tho
@@revolversnake126 because for the last few months I haven’t been able to really get into a new game. Was kind of in a gaming funk
It has many updates (and mods) since. I couldn't play it on release (GTX 1060 that survived pandemic with caveat of turning off PC on graphically heavy games) but now it's smooth sailing with easy to get ALL companions on a good run.
I feel honoured to be in the honour mode completionists. Even if i just barely scraped by with 2 alive characters at the end.
@@YearOneThorn☝🏻This exactly.
I'd have sided with Omeluum, no questions asked!

I basically was Lae'zel's Simp.. she said not to trusting him.. so i do as im told... i let Orpheus live, and played a playthrough with just me and her playing as a Githyanki, i also added an additional hireling of the same race.

There is also a happier ending for her, if you dont turn her to a mind flayer, romance her and Wyll choose to be "another" Blade. Dont gonna spoil it, but it is imo far more happier for her.
@@Kredit_Klaus thats why i said Avernus :) I mean going that route might be happier for her but not for my friend which wanted to keep her for himself :) It worked out in the end

Gale blowing up is the best ending for everyone except Gale. No one has to become a mind flayer and Orpheus can be freed (yes there are ways)
I think in that ending all the tadpoles instantly transform so while the nether brain is destroyed there are now a bunch of roaming illithid. Did it in my first playthrough to see the outcome and the narrator said something about that and how there could have been a better way.
Not really, everyone tadpolled transform into mindflayers and the people from baldurs gate have to deal with it.
I think Gale choosing to sacrifice himself at the end can be fitting ending. My first play through he tried to convince me to sacrifice himself at moonrise. I refused and talked him out of it. I think most people, when they think of a Dwarf, they think of a short, long bearded, round belly, thick armed angry man with a gruffy voice.
Yeah they need to add some text to suggest you non-lethal here, as they have Jaheira warning you to knock down Minsc without killing him.
My Paladin/Sorc got SO PRITY with those scales... until she ate the astral tadpole.
It makes sense Cleric would be the least picked class for Tav when you consider that:
1. Most people keep Shadowheart in the party
As one that never play table top, this is an Interesting insight.
@JSiuDev Thank you.
