Welcome back to our series, That Cost How Much?!?! where we recreate overpriced decor items with affordable materials and a touch of DIY. In this episode, I tackle a couple holiday decor items that are a little out of your ~average budget~, including a Christmas Tree Skirt from Nordic Nest, a Faux Botanical Arrangement in Poe White Volcanic Glaze Vase from Crate & Barrel, and the Re-Lit Brush Trees On Wood Base from Anthropologie.

I would watch a 100 more episodes of diy Christmas decor
good thing there's more coming :)
Becky, as always you rocked it! I love your dupes, especially the Burch Anthropology centerpiece. But I must say the very best part was your beautiful puppy at the end🥰
I came here to say this. Love all of them, that wood grain brush is insane!!
same @charlotte9771
Yes Please!
300 USD for a vase??!??!? That’s literally robbery
Love it! Where did you get the 3/$1 bottle brushes?
I can't believe it said it was "in high demand" and might not arrive until January. Who is buying this thing??
As a professional ceramicist, I can say that is genuinely how much things cost if you want to pay the artist fairly for cost of materials, firings, experience, time etc. However! I understand that this isn’t in everyone’s budget so it’s great to be able to have more affordable options out there xx
@@Kingsleavers Absolutely! Same, I am a hobbyist but totally get that handcrafted artisanal pottery and ceramic ware is worth the money for the time and expertise. But something like this from CB2 is nowhere near artisanal.
@@Kingsleavers Paying that much for a one off vase hand made by a professional is one thing and completely understandable. Paying for a mass manufactured one - totally different.
That birch log is WAY better than the costy one!! Love this series🥰🥰🎄
And by cutting the log in half, you could make two really easily
Looks like Kelsey needs to do a Christmas tiny hole... 😂
Oh my goodness, yes! That would be absolutely perfect.
Yessss please pleasee pleaseee!!
Reading this comment but not having watched the entire video yet, I have no idea what a tiny hole is, lol
The birch log version cost saving was immmmmpressive. Please do ludicrously overpriced wreaths next!
Can we just take a moment to show some appreciation for Becky - her genuine and down-to-earth personality, with splashes of humor make watching these videos a highlight of my day. Love the series!
Agreed! What fun would it be to be hang with the Girls!
The vase one is brilliant because only the filler is seasonal. You could fill that thing up with all kinds of florals all year!
I actually thought hers looked way better than the other one!! Totally impressed!!!!
That’s such a good point
These all turned out great! For the tree skirt, you could also use contact paper or peel and stick wallpaper in a wood grain instead of painting it. You can even get textured ones!
What a great idea!!!! They have some pretty realistic options
I love that this channel shares failures along with successes. It empowers us to keep trying even if we hit roadblocks once in a while.
The bottle brush trees could totally have tons of style options too! If you like pastel christmas, you could easily find mint and pink tress, traditional red and green, really custom for your vibe!
Yeah, or even paint them yourself. If you change your decor colours (my mother rotates and combines sets in silver, red, dark blue, and wood/straw decorations each year) you could use some kind of putty or clay or those kneadable erasers to push the trees into the log. That way you can take them out and swap them around with different colours, or even repaint them a different colour if you want to change things up.
@@AnnekeOosterinkShe didn't glue them in. She could literally just pull them out & change for a different color if she wanted. Don't think the putty would hold them up well & would detract from the clean aesthetic of the wood. Her's is interchangeable.
I loved them all, but the bottle brush tree thing turned out way better than the original ❤
for those of us who loveee decorating for the holidays but can’t afford to spend $$$$ with inflation, this video is soooo amazing. Please make more holiday decor ones in this series!!! ❤
we already have 2 more That Cost's How Much?? holiday episodes (linked at the end of the video!)
I think magnets would have worked well to connect the tree base pieces. Also would make it easier to store etc. And I would have painted the central tree base support either gold or to match the star shaped base. Loved the bottle brush trees!
@cassiadickinson9029, Magnets are a fabulous idea!!!
Thank you for finally mentioning what no one talks about…the price of spray paint! It is insane. It often makes these DIY projects so pricey. Even if you have the for a few projects it’s a bit much.
I always grab them a t estate sales, everyone has them! Even if some don't work due to age but when you buy them at a dollar it's worth the risk. But word to the wise for those people who temperature gets under 30 don't buy them unless they are in basement workshop because most garage owners don't heat or insulate their garage. Those won't spray correctly nor will you be happy with your project!
I love those ideas but my practical self, says "oh boy storage nightmare" especially those bottle brush trees!
Becky puts 1000000 percent into every project!!! Please do more Becky!!! There’s still time
The vase you did was absolutely incredible
Favorite series!! The fart sound-effect on the expensive cost breakdown got me each time!
The one thing I might have done differently is add baking soda to the paint for the vase to add texture!
My favorite series! The birch log and bottle brush trees was phenomenal! For future reference, Dollar Tree has those trees for $1.25 US. So, you could do it for even less if ya wanted!
Love Becky doing “that costs how much???” 😂 I don’t decorate before thanksgiving(US) bc I wanna let each holiday have its own moment. Also, we celebrate Christmas until Jan 6 so I put up decor at the beginning of Dec.
hahah yah we assumed a lot of our audience would say they wait till after Thanksgiving but we out here in Canada celebrating already
Can we talk about the fact that the estimated shipping time for the Botanical Arrangement (which is meant to be Christmas decor?!) is in JANUARY 2024??? 🙃
yeah, i saw that, come ooon :))))
I love the cardboard tree skirt. You can paint it however you like, and that is the ideal level of personalization. Brilliant job on all of them!
Love all of the diy's. If you want your star-shaped tree stand to look even fancier and if you have some wood veneer lying around, you can glue it on top of the millboard/cardboard. That birch log turned out surprisingly amazing.
Becky.... you absolutley knocked this out of the park. I can't belive you gave us that template so we could actually make that tree base ourselves for practically free! Yes it's cardboard..... BUT ITS SOOOO BUDGET FRIENDLY and I can see you put alot of time in to that. Then on the higher end the vase and berries which was a fantastic saving for something that looked identical. But for me the stand out was the centre peace. I have old bottle brushes from cleaning baby bottles and some scrap wood downstairs so I will 100% be doing this....potentially my favourite sorry girls vid so far because I can actually do them all and they are all good. Now the other team members need to do a TCHM Christmas edition!
LOVE THAT COST HOW MUCHHH SERIES. So happy its back!
an OG and a favourite
We need more! And hopefully this made Becky feel better about her bathroom saga.
that birch log centerpiece especially turned out stunninggg!
I’m a amateur diy-er and carpenter. I do think attempting to make stuff by yourself can often be less expensive and more satisfying than buying new items.
Yeah, I do think that it matters what you make, like, it feels icky to copy the design of a local artist for example, but I'm way less bothered by copying a design from a large corporation. Even if both things cost the same. Handmade things are more expensive because they're handmade, and corporations either overprice a simple thing that is mass produced, or they underprice it, and don't pay the workers enough (both the people in the shops, as well as the factory workers who produce the item).
If it's in my budget I prefer going to a local artist, or I try to make things myself if it's too expensive. (There is a local metalworker who designs and makes amazing light fixtures meant to be showcased above a big dining table, or over a coffee table. Even their name is great: Grote Beer (Big Bear, which is the name for the big dipper in Dutch). Sadly they are also out of my budget, and our dining area is not nearly big and grand enough to fit one of those amazing lamps, but I still sigh whenever I walk past the workshop)
@@AnnekeOosterink I agree.
Love the mini trees on the birch log 😊😊😊😊
You could also forage branches for the vase arrangement and save even more!
I love “THAT COST HOW MUUUCH?” the birch log…chef’s kiss!
The birch tree bottle brush piece is my fave. So perfect for a mantle or top of a cabinet. Well done, Becky!
The proportions of your botanical arrangement were far superior. And had fragrance. Love this series!
I think Becky did an amazing job, especially with the bottle brush trees. Stunning!👏👏👏
I think everything turned out looking just as good as the original item. Even the cardboard tree base. Once that's under the tree, any difference in materials isn't noticeable anymore. My fave is the brush tree log👍👏
All three projects turned out well. I really like the vase project and the bottle brush tree project because they can be used as winter decor and not just for Christmas.
Trees so natural looking in the arrangement you made. Beautiful.
I think you nailed all three of these DIY's! Holiday decor can be so overpriced due to its seasonal nature and making things just adds another sentimental element. The bottle brush tree display is amazing cuz it would so easy to customize, or even change the length for different tables or mantels.
Well done! My neighbor has a row of Leland cypress trees on our lot line. Hmmm...
Anything you make, is perfect. My fav was the Christmas tree base thing. I’m fascinated by that wood texture brush!
The trees on the birch log is so gorgeous!!! Great job!❤
Love using a mix of real & faux branches for the vase one. Means you get a nice smell (especially handy if you can't have a real tree). Might even be able to get some kinds of branches for free if you ask for any trimmings at a christmas tree lot.
10/10!! Best DIYs ever girl! Also the little toots you put in when you reminded us of the original cost were 👌👌👌
Even though you had to be in and out of your office and several different shops you still maintained the continuity of the video so so well!! Love your hard work ❤and bottle brush free DIY was excellent
Birch log with the trees is perfection! Loved all of them, but that was my favorite.
This one was sooooo good!! The tree base and the mantel piece were my fave
I would give all of them a 10 out of 10! Loved the way they came out!
Aw Danny’s so cute!
Love Chris DIY’s everything so expensive these days it’s nice to know we can do it for less xx
Love the birch log with the trees , hands down my personal favourite 🌲🇨🇦
❤ loved them. If I did anything different I think the birch tree bark would add something. I would have left it on. still gorgeous the way you did it.
I liked all of them. That was so cool to see how Becky managed to make that Christmas tree base, and I enjoyed her vase arrangement better. It's prettier how the shapes of the branches flow. That said, Becky's vase is beautiful but not really a dupe, if we are talking about the ceramic look itself. Volcanic glaze looks really different in real life with its recessed texture being a highlight, just like volcanic rock. If I wanted to mimic it, what I might do is get some air dry clay and cover the vase with it. Then take an actual volcanic rock and press it into the clay to impart its texture. Do that all over the vase. Then once the clay is dry paint all the recesses a contrasting color.
Edit: I realized my method would not work, because the volcanic rock texture that would be imparted to the clay would be in reverse, so it wouldn't have the proper blistered recesses. I think a prior step would be to make a reverse stamp of the volcanic rock's texture. I would probably try some of that silicone clay like stuff that Nerdforge used on their chocolate "gingerbread" house video awhile back. It was like a putty that they could press onto the object that they wanted to be able to mimic its texture (in this case roof shingles from one of their other miniature builds). Then the silicone putty cured and could be peeled off the original object.
The tree star stand is soo good. It’s like decor from Nordstrom during the holidays and cardboard, could even be a vibe 😭
yah I was also thinking you could paint it literally any colour that matches your decor! this was just wood so we wanted to imitate that
@@TheSorryGirls Soo true Becky Slay!!!
She IS the 'Flick' Fairy that saved Christmas with JOY and lots of Funnies TY!
This has always been one of my favorite series. And I love it when Becky says, "That costs how much?!" Her voice always goes high pitched. 🤣🤣🤣
I think your birch with the bottle brush trees turned out 100 percent better! ❤
The last one looks soooo much better than the overpriced one!
🎉 Nailed it Becky!!!!! GREAT job on all three -- especially the bottle brush trees. I agree, the birch is a more appropriate base.
I love these!!! Great job Becky. My only change would be to leave the beautiful bark on the birch tree. You all are so good at giving us affordable options. I love the little trees on the birch so much!! I see those trees here for a dollar what is up with that ridiculous price 😂
Best part was Danny💖💖💖 💖💖💖💖💖
Becky nailed it in this one! All of the DIYs look fantastic
You did a great job, Becky!👍I like your creations more than the store bought ones. And you're right; birch is much more festive!✨
Love the birch tree pre-lit blah, blah, blah thingy!
Your versions are 1000% better! Not just because of the price but I honestly think they all look better❤❤
All the projects look great! Your vase is even better. It is lusher with the combination of real and faux and the proportion is much more pleasing to the eye.
I like all of the ones you did! and with the last one I especially think the birch log looks much better!
Just realised I have all the components for that Botanical Vase left over from last year, and I loved the arrangement behind you with bobbles of the end of a tree branch.
aaa thank u for this video! I was looking for Christmas diys and what's better than the sorry girl's diys??? love from Italy ❤
we have a whole playlist!! so once youre done this one you can go watch more there!
I love this series sooo much, of any kind, seriously
Great video! Just a note some of the tree lots will give you free tree branches 😊
Omg. The tree centerpiece. I NEED one. Sooooo cute
Thank you for acknowledging the value in the original star base and congratulations on your fantastic cardboard dupe that displayed ingenuity, creativity and problem solving skills. Great work.
The tree stand shaps remind me of the volcom logo a little. All three DIYs are wonderful...especially the anthropologie dupe trees on the birch log. Well done~
I love the vase and floral arrangement. It looks way more luxe.
I'm so obssesed with the last project 😍 I'll definitely be doing it next year! I liked yours more than the store one 🥰
I really love the way you diy, it feels like this is the way we all should!
Love everything you did! I will say the only thing that was a better original was the tree stand but that’s because it was made with wood instead of cardboard. The vase was perfection! Definitely better than the original and the tree log as well. They both came out so much better than the originals! Now I want to attempt these myself. Wish me luck!
The tree stand is at a ridiculous price because of how small it actually is, becky at least made it for a normal tree, it would be nice if they would sell it at a normal size.
Love it! Some are not totally comparable, but so well done and so worth it and beautiful! Love what you do.
Love these. Your birch log is much more pleasing than the expensive one. There is more of a difference in height that makes yours look more balanced.
Love this series !!!! please have more episodes
The vase looks better the big fluffy greens!! Love it so much.
You did very fabulous. My favorite one is actually the Birchwood. It looks so gorgeous. It looks even better than anthropology.
Your diy versions were all spot on! Want to see more please!
The trees on the birch log! Mind blown!
Love this series! Exactly what I needed on a sick day ❤
feel better!!
Aww, feel better!
Love, love, love those bottle brush trees on the birch log. The whole duo turned out fantastic and much, much cheaper than that of the inspiration piece!!!
oh i LOVE the tree base dupe, because just like you already had one, so many ppl watching this also probably already have one and this cuts down on waste and overspending for something that realistically, you're probably never going to actually notice that brass stand once the tree is trimmed. that's brilliant. it's like a slipcover for tree bases.
I love all 3 of your DIY’s! And the cost savings! Wow
I need a that 70’s holiday home tour!! I can only imagine how cute everything looks!!
I have a problem with the black flicks. Instead, I would have flicked gold or red, or gold and red for a Xmas look on the white vase. Still, your vase was really spot on (no pun intended). The brush trees with the birch log was absolutely adorable! You hit that right out of the ball park. Becky, absolutely everything you do is fabulous!
All of your DIY versions were great! My favorite is the birch log with the bottle brush trees! So cute and I’m in agreement that the birch log looks more Christmasy. Beautiful job! 💚❤️💚
My favorite by far is the birch tree center piece, it’s beautiful!
I've used the wood grain affect by transferring it to material too. Dipped the tool in brown paint, then rolled it into aluminum foil. Then pressed the foil onto a light tan bed skirt. It looks awesome!!!
Love the tree stand, and the birch log. Excellent job on everything.
I have my ceramic house village up all year, without the trees and cars because it's cute, and not too Christmas-y IMO. It's on the mantle, and when the power goes down from summer storms, it lights up our living room.
Becky you knocked them all out of the park!! Above and beyond all the original inspo!! ☃️🎄 Also, I thoroughly enjoy the *toot* noise over the original price 🤣
LOVE That cost how. much??!! Might be my favorite of your series! Becky, you're a genius! I like all of yours BETTER than the originals. Beautifully done! YES PLEASE-- more holiday decor on a budget!
Becky I loved the vase with the greenery and the red balls. I think I will do that one for my dining room table. I also loved the trees on the birch wood. I love Christmas trees. Good luck getting your bathroom finished.
Honestly these all are great! Sometimes the DIYs are flops but these are all great successes!!
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great job!!! My favorite is the birch logs Christmas trees, I like it so much I went to my backyard & got some birch logs & I did exactly what you did and I love it!!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you & yours... Abrazos
I loved the Birch with bottle brush trees and the tree skirt.❤
Loved them all but really loved the vase with real greens.
All I can say is, "Mic drop". You outdid ALL the expensive pieces. Now we can spend that extra money on gifts & or donations to our favorite charities! Awesome job 💖💖💖
Becky! You must be a wizard! That Christmas tree stand is incredible!!!!
Amazing! Everything looked so great in comparison to the more expensive items. I was worried yours would actually look cheaper…they didn’t ! ⭐️ 🌟 🏆
Love the project with the greens…however, my tried and true approach is to salvage the Christmas tree clippings and stuff them into my pewter pitcher, with one faux branch of icy greens!! And this year, I will also doing some branch foraging in my sister’s yard! Pitchers that suit your decor year round are a very useful decorative piece, over multiple seasons.
