presents episode 1823 | DR STEPHEN PHINNEY
We need 5g SODIUM [which is 10g salt] per day…
If have hypertension or congestive heart issues?
-3g sodium, until condition improves [keto helps]
"I had been under salting, so my GP said: add salt”
-salt to taste works when metabolically healthy
    Question: patients on diuretics?
-don't add sodium, keep in 2.5g range
-we want to get them off of the diuretics!
    -too much leads to resistance
    -impairs their body's response
PURE study, Potassium: at 1g/day death risk 2X…
at 3g/day: death risk down 20%
Processed meats have lost most of its potassium
    Unprocessed meat: gives 1g potassium/day
    Bone broth: gives another 1g
So, carnivores need to do this or
    2X protein intake
"Perhaps that is why carnivores are
    hungry for more protein...to get
    the potassium needed”
You can buy "lite salt"...50% sodium; 50% potassium
-1 teaspoon gives about 1g potassium supplement

I use NoSalt in my broth. 656mg potassium per 1/4 tsp. Very cheap.

I always thought that sodium and salt were the same? So if 6 grams of sodium is ideal for someone in ketosis, how much is that in salt?

I can't eat sodium like that because I have meniere's disease and I will end up with terrible vertigo

Interesting. I've been wondering if I'm getting enough potassium. I used to eat bananas - no more. I'm either "bad carnivore" or what they call ketovore. Guess to the tiny amount of veg I eat - well it should include more celery. Or supplements.

I don’t touch any veggies and only berries for fruit. I do eat pork at least once a week, for potassium. Also take trace mineral tablets.

@@doctorstotrust3552 I mostly eat meat but do a few veggies and berries - and coffee (which has a little K, strangely). The meat is mostly beef - but I'm ok w/ pork chops, bacon (and eggs). So pork is high in potassium? Do u mind saying what tablet brand you like? Thanks.
I've been taking a potassium pill from the drug store, I think it's KCl - 550 or so mg. Is that any good?

@@doctorstotrust3552 only take the K pill once or twice a week, cuz people have scared me on them.
