Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.
Thank god this got recorded.
There is no god...we're all standing alone
Ian Curtis' spectre jimmy page would probably disagree
+Seal “SealsInTheClub” Clubton well at least he's good for something, his face doubles as a frying pan! Hot dog!
Much like a beautiful woman is just as beautiful without makeup to the man that awakens beside her, this live performance of these 3 instrumentalist & a vocalist is every bit as special to most of us. In many ways more so BECAUSE its imperfections. The imperfections make the emotions that are part of the appeal of this performance more "real".
God*
Robert Plant was 20 in this concert. 20 years old!!!
That is insane
Αναστασιος Ζαχαρογιαννης I agreeing incredible. 20 YEAR OLD ROBERT PLANT PROBABLY GOT SOMEONE’S EARS PREGNANT!!!!
Nah, he was 21
He was actually 20 and 4 months
Such a legendary voice, unbelievable.
His voice is honey poured over thunder
Great analogy!!! Love your thoughts!

I am thinking they may have been told not to cause too much commotion b/c it's being videotaped. IDK?
Plant’s vocals in this performance were practically studio quality, this man was and still is something else.
Only 20 years old as well.
@@georgecraker8972 so what?
To this day he still sounds great! 2022 Feb.
Something about the early performances that are so close to the record. The same with Black Sabbath, a lot of people don't regard Ozzy a good singer live but the Paris 1970 show really shows how close to the record he was
He is so inspiring he is my favorite vocalist. His voice is so perfect I love Led Zeppelin
Who's still loving this in 2024?
Seen them in the mid 70s in
Baton Rouge La. Still have the album. ❤❤❤
Oh my god I wish I could have seen them!!
I’m 17 years old and Led Zeppelin is one of my favourite bands. Grew up listening to it and my literal dream is to live in the 70s.

This amazing!
Еще как нравятся, это уже давно стало классикой рока !!!
Imagine being in 1969 and the heaviest thing you've ever heard is The Rolling Stones and Deep Purple, and then you suddenly hear this on the radio. I legitimately can not imagine the shock you would feel at how heavy this is. I am forever envious of my dad and the experience of the British invasion that he had.
Facts. Best cars. Best music. Very good things we should never forget 😊
Theres other hardcore lesser known stuff before Led Zeppelin
jimi hendrix was pretty heavy 1968
I lived it out. It was the most heady and surreal of times for sure.
I agree. 🐾🐕🐶
Bonham was , and still is , best drummer in rock n' roll history
gtoloverful ; that is of course always open to opinion. I would say: judge musicians by both their historical place in music and their influence. Then I would like to propose people like: Ginger Baker, RIngo Starr (yes you will be surprised but he is in fact a very solid drummer when giving him several listening proofs), John Bonham, Keith Moon, Bill Bruford, Stewart Copeland, Gene Krupa, Mitch Mitchell, Neil Peart, Lars Ulrich and because he is a fav of mine, Scott Rockenfield.
my BF would heavily agree ... and he is a great drummer ..also thx to Bonham ... great people are great idols ... luv'it ... my fav lately among Led ZepZ is J. P. Jones ...
Bev Bevan deserves to be on that stellar list
And Steve Morris and John Densmore too
Arno Luyendijk What about Bill Ward too ?
I remember seeing them in concert in Cleveland. Their first album had just come out and people really didn't know that much about them. I sat down in the front row just talking to people. There were only about 200 people in the hall. All of a sudden the lights went down and the curtains opened and there they were. They broke out with Communications Breakdown and I was awestruck. They were so loud that the sound was pushing me back against my seat. I couldn't take my eyes off them after that. They played that whole first album that night and it's a night I will never forget.
My sister was there!
Lucky!!
So lucky....
Blessed to hear that from you sir 🙏
I wish I were you that night haha
I was 17. It was instant love. Nothing about this band was ordinary.❤❤❤❤

Jimmy Page really did put together one of the world's greatest bands. His vision, their individual talent. R. I.P. Bonzo.
Hands down one of the greatest rock recordings of all-time.
Thee best brother
And The End - The doors too!
YES--- and the master dances to his success.
Sometimes we just have to remind ourselves to be grateful for UA-cam. As a kid I used to waste countless hours scouring VH-1 Classic for this kind of stuff. The joy of finding a couple minutes of Zep after sitting through Cheap Trick after Twisted Sister was tremendous in those days!
Now I just sit and smile wide...
Dude, I remember when Tool's Sober video came out on Headbanger's Ball and almost was late for school the next few days staying up trying to record it to VHS. And that was for a more modern band. It's like a treasure trove finding shit like old Black Sabbath concerts, those black & white Bruce Springsteen "Darkness Tour" performances (young Bruce was such a phenomenal guitar player, 100x better live than on records), etc.
Agreed. I missed live performances that just gut me now.
I evy you. Even tho i like music i dont think ill ever appreciate small things like this. Im sure ive had much more fun while lerning how to play guitarr since i could follow my stars instead of playing yellow submarine over and over because a teacher said so.

That sums up the greatest story ever told...u guyz really rock
Not even close on all accounts! Jagger, Lennon, Dylan, Rose, Cobain and Gallagher hold the singing . And the only otherworldly bands are the Beatles snd the stines
Ginger Baker who played for the Graham Bond ORGANisation and Cream, was a better drummer
Led Zeppelin I never gonna leave you
i’m a 15 year old girl, i love led zeppelin
The rawness and immediacy of this live performance is just.... a breathtaking expression of inevitable heartbreak, perfect with all the imperfections of a live recording -- amazing. So glad this was captured for all time.
The bass notes that John Paul Jones plays is really magical. Plant is as expressive as always :)
Jonsey was quite handsome! 💙

My favorite version of this. Robert was only about 20 here, his voice so unbelievably powerful.
Aside from that, this song has sentimental meaning for me as it reminds me of someone I once cared deeply for, and he did "leave" me.
I just hope he's alright, wherever he is.
Sorry sister.

Because they've seen Bonham do it. There is something to be said for the innovators.
Steve Shaha So if I see Robert Plant barking should I say "Wow, that's talent" just because is Robert Plant? :))
Trust me, Bonham is so well known for a lot more than that :D.
EPurpl3 Well, Robert Plant is synonymous with talent.
2:59 that was great to see Plant crack a smile after his voice cracked!
You know if that had happened at a practice they'd all be cracking up!

Led Zeppelin were NOT the best band the world has ever produced. They were better than that!
@@johnrandall125 you've got that right
Nah dude no disrespect to Led Zeppelin, they are one of the best bands for sure but if we gotta single one band above the rest that’s easily the Beatles. No other band has ever come close to their influence on Rock music or music period.
I was 2. But I grew up a major fan. Saw Jimmy in 85 when i was 18, with Paul Rogers, in Austin. Kick Ass!
Omg. This is magic
In 1970 I was 13 and in the church choir. One day at the beach as usual every radio was tuned to Dale Dorman 68 AM WRKO. I heard Dazed and Confused for the first time. My life was changed. I bought the album, soon after bought a guitar and grew my hair. My life's path was changed forever. Still have the album, still have the guitar, still love to sing and play. This is in my opinion the best version of this song, the change of lyrics is so great, and Robert's voice so emotional. And the fact that it's with the video is sooooo great. Nice that the things like that still exist.
I've been reading alot of in depth accounts of zeppelin shows over their career, and listening to this again, I have a feeling he forgot the words. This track would have been super fresh when this was recorded.
Maravilhoso adoro LED ZEPPELIN amo muito
ever hear anne bredons version? in 1959?
@@MrAdomus yup,I agree with you saying he probably just forgot the lyrics. In interviews he's often said he was never great at remembering lyrics, it would take him a good amount of play throughs to get them stuck in his head. There was always a lot of improvisation going on anyway so I don't think anything's lost in this performance. I love this whole set, so stripped back, no production and just raw🔥
In 1969, I wasn't born. But I love you, dear Led Zeppelin. Thank you for all moments of pure magic.

Umm, not really. You know, the bass tones were played by Jimmy, in fact JPJ just duplicated that (other than chorus, but even there he was not needed..) dont fall for that " Oh JPJ was so amazing, underrated " crap. Its so old.. he just did what the song called for, nothing more
