      I’m going on 70, and having grown up with their music, and many others, it makes me so happy that I’m of the Baby Boomer generation! I admit that I can appreciate a lot of the music from back then MORE NOW, esp when they have lyrics that imo are more meaningful and relevant today than when 1st released. For example: Neil Young’s Cortez the Killer (Crazy Horse version, plus the ones by Warren Haynes and the DMB), Simon and Garfunkel’s Sound of Silence (although I never liked it by them and still don’t, BUT the one ‘covered’ by David Draiman (from Disturbed, known as being a ‘heavy metal’ band no less!). I loved 💗 his solo, black and white video performance of it so much that I requested it to be played at my funeral! This was just to name a couple of many more!

      @evolunter Well, sometimes boys wore girls' clothing back then, just like girls both then and now wear boy's clothing sometimes. They weren't averse to a floral blouse if it looked good on them. Mick famously wore a white dress to the Stones' free concert in Hyde Park.
      But loads of places in London, like Carnaby Street, the King's Road in Chelsea, the Beatles' Apple Boutique in Marylebone, and the Kensington Market were all crammed with beautiful stuff for both men and women. There was a little place in Soho somewhere that made (or had made for them) and sold the most gorgeous skin tight, crushed velvet bell-bottoms, in a rainbow of colour choices, for both sexes. They couldn't make them fast enough to keep up with demand. Another shop in the same area sold stinky but beautiful goatskin Afghan coats.
      Fun Fact: all those exotic, beautiful clothes smelt of patchouli oil, because a lot of the cotton and silk fabrics they used to make them from were shipped over from India, where the oil was used as moth repellent. Then all the hip young people in England thought this strange new smell was kind of cool and started using it as perfume... Yes folks, we were using moth repellent as perfume.. Life was one big experiment! :-)

      @innestomlinson6638 2 роки тому +43

      Yes, the stones were probably at their peak around this period, but Brian Jones not so much. It’s clear to see by the way he looks and how he’s performing onstage that this wasn’t his finest hour. Jones wasn’t bothered about the stones at this point and no longer enjoyed it. Drugs and alcohol had taken over his life. As a result the man was found dead in his own swimming pool only a year later, after supposedly ‘overdosing’.

    The way Keith Richards totally nail the rythm and lead section at the same time is just amazing cause we pratically can't hear Brian's guitar...he give all the groove to the song and it just sound so natural and easy... He was a freaking good guitar player back in these days !!

    • @Mark27472
      @Mark27472 Рік тому +1

      For sure from about 1968-1972 were Keith's best years as a guitarist. There are audio recordings around when you can hear Brian's guitar quite clearly. Contrary to myth he was definitely plugged in. Reality is they hadn't played live in 6 months and were rusty as hell - plus they went on around 2am after being up for nearly a whole day. Nowhere near as bad as even I once thought. Watching this made me wish Nicky Hopkins was on the studio version.
