I have a 2.2 Auris which is similar to this engine. I'd highly recommend taking off the intake manifold and clearing it out, along with the runners going to the valves. I done it on my car a year or two ago. Made a massive difference to the performance. I was working at a slow(ish) pace, took about 4 hours all in with disassembly, soda blasting and refit. You can get to the crank by removing the drivers wheel.
Just unbolt the egr, lift it out and spray inside with brake cleaner top and bottom and leave each side for 10 mins and scrub out with an old toothbrush. Don't be spraying with compressed air. That sooty stuff is carcinogenic. Put a mask on.
Is it common for these to keep blocking, looking at a car and the guy has to clean it every 6 months, but he does a lot of short journeys? Is this a sign of something else?
Anderson can't wait, hopefully we will have retired by then and just be taking cars for mots , got my induction heater the other day , same as Dave's, cracking piece of kit 👍
Yeah even spray in inlet manifold if he has to clean out leave for a couple of hours to soak in then clean out with brake cleaner sometimes had to do a couple of times
I don't know Ian about that I'm scarred of that launch after I done s reset on a Renault scenic 1.5 diesel after changing the no.4 injector, the thing started still with s misfire so I reset fuel adaption and fuel pressure regulation and now it will no start, even after renewing the 4 injector s!!!!
@@sandyande Would the Autel code the injectors for you maybe the launch did not complete the Job. An old boss of mine used a launch to do a DPF regeneration on a Renault and it froze while doing the regeneration them cars decode the injectors 2 inject an extra injection cycle to burn off the soot and because the launch froze the injector lost its coding and would not start either
I'll try that Ian, one major problem I see on the pids the rail pressure setting shows blank but the rail pressure hits 200bar fires the injectors then the pressure just dissaptes!!!
@@sandyande thats wired all right are the injectors reconditioned or new if u have a sensor simulator u can fool the ecu on the signal wire true the pressure sensor

Thank you!!
Safety squint engaged with the airline blower, carbon deposits aren’t much fun in your eyes!

If I blank off the EGR will it put the engine management light on🤔
Yes it probably will
If your car doesn’t have a DPF fitted and leave the plug on it EGR it’ll register as working perfectly but obviously no gasses pass through
No it wont
I'd strip the manifold off and deep clean both the valve and manifold.
Great video sandy ive found soaking egr and throttle bodies in mr muscle oven cleaner them come out like new
Cheers Daniel I'll tell Rody that top tip! Cheers sandy

can the launch reset the learned values the ecm is reading off the old values

Injectors are brand new from Renault£175 each!!!!!
