I've been eyeing the G2 for quite some time, but finally pulled the trigger. I am not usually a fan of green, but this G2 is at least pleasant to look at. However, when I went to place my order, I noticed the gold G2 was available to order, so I chose that instead, after watching this video to confirm it is the same. You see, I love gold more than green, but, even more so - I live about 20 minutes away from Revv, and we have a football team called the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and their colors are Blue & Gold. Our neighbor, Saskatchewan, has the Rough Riders, and their uniforms are green. I happen to use a Blue Kingsley Constable as the last pedal going into my amp, and the G2 will sit between my Tilt Overdrive, and my Kingsley Constable, so I'm going to have Blue & Gold pedals as my last two pedals going into my amps, instead of Green and Blue. While the Green G2 is beautiful, Blue & Gold is nicer! ;-) As always, thanks for doing these vids - I had been debating between a G2 and G3, but I have an EVH 5150 OD pedal, and it sort of does what the G3 does - and I'm not a shredder anyway. When I hear the G2, the tones make me think of AC DC, Helix (Does A Fool Ever Learn, for example), even the Steve Miller band (like in The Stake) - but so much more - it just sounds so good - this is the growl I seek. And with the Tilt OD going into it, while it feeds into the Constable (The Kingsley Constable is a tube guitar preamplifier modeled after the classic "plexi" design of the late 1960's. The Kingsley Constable uses two 12ax7 tubes running at high voltage (around 270VDC) to get the most authentic valve tone out of its hand wired circuit.) and because it is a true tube preamp pedal, it can be pushed hard, and the G2 is the pedal to do it. My setup already sounds great, but this ... I expect to be able to pick it up on Monday, and I can't wait to get lost in the music when I get it home.
6:30 = John Mayer 😉 💛🧡💛🧡💛🧡💛🧡 Gold G2 is my favorite for sure, Second fav is the Black G4 with the gain dialed WAY back. Sounds fantastic! Those two together on my board are amazing! So much stylistic ground you can cover
Love the sound of these pedals especially when Shawn is playin' through them. Crazy how you've managed to refine the sound of these amp channels into little stomp boxes... well done
I have a G2 (gold) on my board as well as a Tchula, Wildwood Mjolnir (Klon style which sounds amazing) and a Zendrive II that I've had for years. The G20 really sounds different from anything else and is a great compliment. Like you said it's very versatile.
@@ShawnTubbs It's my last overdrive pedal in the chain and everything is in front of the amp (D20). Using it as a boost I might try moving it in front of the other ODs. My chain is tuner->wtf fuzz->Tchula->Mjolnir->ZendriveII->G2->Carbon Copy Deluxe->D20 input. I also use the D20 send to guitar in on my Helix. I come out of the 1/4" outputs of the Helix as stereo into a Source Audio Ventris and stereo from the Ventris into a Dittox4 looper. Stereo outs of the looper go L channel back into the return of the D20 which is connected to a 1x12 cab. R channel goes to an FRFR powered speaker. Probably sounds complicated but it really isn't and this gives me stereo wet effects.
I first got the G2 Gold after watching most of your videos Shawn. Loved the sound of the G2 so much I decided to get a Revv D20 also and it's an amazing amp! Love the tones you get and of course your playing is amazing! Thanks for all your hard work doing these videos for us.
Great to see you playin’ a little Voodoo Child! I think the gold color is a great choice, makes the pedal seem a bit more unique. The green color does have a lot of associations already. Good video, always love to listen to you play.
Hello Shawn....i loved the revv pedals ...will be getting G2 and G3 very soon...my question was...as you so say no difference in gold or green colour. But is there any so slight difference between the two colours...cause I found no videos on UA-cam. Just wanted to make sure before getting them.thank you for the great videos.
🤘🏽REVV Rules!!! 🤘🏽 All that glitters isn’t going to leave glitter all over your house for ever🤬. Gold or green these pedals get ya from clean to mean and all points in between 🤘🏽
I’m very hesitant to buy this pedal because of the color. Dumb I know, but pedalboards are personal works of art as well. I don’t like the green or yellow. If it was black or another color I would have bought it in a heartbeat. Kinda looking at the g3 now, either the purple or special black edition. We’ll see. Sounds great though.
Besides those Blackout Pedals we do limited colors of most of our pedals from time to time. I BELIEVE we still have some red+white "Canadian Flag" G2s left in stock.
Proud owner of a Black G4... My favorite pedal ever in history... 🤘
The G2 is so damn good .
Shawn Tubbs is such a killer player. These tones are crazy good too.
Thanks so much!!
Sick playing !
Thanks very much!
I was so pumped when I found out Revv is Canadian
I really like the gold color on the pedals! Great tone too!
Incredible tone...love this
I love this video, the playing is great and so is the tone!!

Haha, thanks, Def! I didn't quite play it right, but then....I don't play anything quite right. Yeah, of the 3 G series pedals the G2 is my favorite.
I just bought the G4 pedal last week. I love it, thanks!
Love the sound of these pedals especially when Shawn is playin' through them. Crazy how you've managed to refine the sound of these amp channels into little stomp boxes... well done
Thanks Andrew! Yes, Dan Trudeau spent a lot of time on those pedals.
That goldtop PRS on the wall is beautiful!
Love you playing Shawn
Absolutely fantastic tone. And that schecter is gorgeous too!
Thanks so much for watching!
@@ShawnTubbs my pleasure man!
Awesome blues tone!!! I love it
I love my G2 Gold. That Schecter always sounds so good in your hands!
Thanks so much!

trey xavier sent me hear, but I'm staying for that slick playing
Thanks for watching!!

Thanks so much, Steve! So glad you're digging your D20! It's a great amp! The G2 is definitely my favorite of the G series pedals.
Killer playing dude, that tone is just incredible, also what a very nice Schecter dude!
Cheers!
Definitely on my To Get list.
The more I learn about your gear, the more impressed I am. Sounds incredible.
Thanks so much for looking into REVV!
@@ShawnTubbs Thank Robert Baker. Lol. That's how I found out about you.
Just got a gold one 🤘🏻
Man what a great sound

great review real versatile pedal
Thanks very much!
Would be really cool if you could switch that toggle with a foot switch! It would be like a two channel amp!
Hmmmm.... Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Glad the gold edition came out. I really don't like the green and have been thinking of getting a G2 to use as a preamp
I prefer the Gold aesthetic over the green as well. Thanks for watching!
Bruh that guitar is gorgeous
Hey Shawn! Can it be used as a simple clean preamp for say a cab m?
I’m running it as light to mid gain into a CAB M+ (preamp in cabm active), works really well. Very, very touch sensitive.
I've run the G2 as a preamp into a Cab M. I actually did a video about a year ago. ua-cam.com/video/H2kGATUMApw/v-deo.html
@@ShawnTubbs that video is the reason for the cabm and the g2/g4 on my board. Hats off! 👌
@@ShawnTubbs thanks Shawn! 😁
Hey Shawn, what's up my friend, that's a great video.
Hey, it's good to see you here! Thanks for watching and for the kind words!
Wow, that's a gorgeous Schecter. The neck looks so smooth, and that tone is creamy.
Semi off topic question. Are the 40 watt heads being updated with the same features as the generator Mark 3 and the lunch box heads?
Yes, at some point!
@@ShawnTubbs awesome! Looking forward to that update with cash in hand haha.
great stuff this is a bit of topic whats your favourite revv amp shawn thanks
I like the D20 and the Generator 120. Thanks!

Love your playing.
Thanks very much for watching and for chiming in!
Hi,
I'm here to leave some nice comment.
You're nice guys.
Nice video.
I thought maybe it was ts based. As always, great playing
Thanks very much for watching!
This pedal sounds incredible or are your hands doing all the work? I think both is the right answer
it's a good-sounding pedal. ;) Thanks very much for watching!

I don't know...I think the green one sounds a bit more..."green." Must be the paint reacting with the capacitors....🤔
