The one person I would love to learn from the most. Been a fan from Day 1. I remember the Entertainment tonight episode he was on with the vocal coach. Saw Giant Live with Heart. I was 4th row. I sat next a young man who was there with his mom and had Down Syndrome. I was having fun with him rocking out. Dann saw me and threw a guitar pick because he saw what i was doing, so I moved out of the way and it landed in the young man's leg. He was so excited and could not believe it. I was happy for him and Dann saw what I did and smiled and gave me a thumbs up. I never regret it seeing the smile on the young man's face was worth more than anything. Dann, You have been an influence through the years. Thank you for that and for the music of Giant.
Words of wisdom. 20 years ago I was all about the high gain and playing a million notes per minute. Now I spend half the gig on the clean channel and actually play whole notes and rests lol
I love what Dann (and the interviewer) said about the relative volume when playing either live or even recording. The set volume really affects my playing and/or at least the perception of my sound…and I tend to play better and more free when the volume is lower or at a more appropriate level. I know it’s an issue of semantics, but gosh that makes so much sense to me and now I feel like I’m not alone! 😅😂🤣😆
When he called me to tell me what he thought of it, I don’t think I have had a moment at Revv that left me as struck as that call. It was just amazing to hear how much he dug it
I got a pleasant surprise when you mentioned your matchless amplifier. John Jorgenson told me in the 90s to consider getting one. It took me a while to save up for one and I still love it. I even sold my Marshall JCM 800 thanks for this interview. living in Canada, I had to order it from the US and the exchange rate and taxes and duty added over 60% to the cost of the amplifier. I don’t know how or why my wife even let me do it. She is a wonderful person married for 50 years. Please excuse any mistakes here I have to use voice to text. I have loved and respected guitar players like Dan all my life I never had the talent.
the is a cool and sweet story. very nice. PS: i actually owned one of the very early handwired Samson-era Matchless Chieftain 212 amps. (1996 -ish if i remember correctly) it sounded incredible once turned up a little, so it could breathe but was too loud for most stages even back then. also, it was like carrying 2 car batteries in a suitcase, which just wasn't for me at the time, considering that i played a different club/venue every weekend. regardless, i stupidly traded it for an Alesis ADAT of all things. it was one of the more boneheaded trades i've ever made. it would be worth $$$ now, but hopefully whoever has owned it over the years has enjoyed it. cheers.
@@martydibergi5228 no. i got it thru an acquaintance who worked at Granny's Music Mall in OKC, OK (i ran a music store in western OK all thru the 90s and bought and sold and traded just about all the cool early "boutique" guitars and amps in that time period.) i don't know who the original owner was or where it was originally purchased.
I love these interviews, but dang. How hard and inexpensive would it be to pop on a wireless lav mic and dump the audio into a Mac or computer for post. The biggest thing that these podcasts miss.
@@Derek-Revv not a lot, but they are definitly out there. I have found great sounding CBS Strats and Norlin Les Pauls. Same goes with Martins and Guild Acoustics
@@BenBreard OK, I was wrong. A combination of the camera angle and the masking tape makes it look like it has more knobs than it does. I should've looked at it more closely.
I don't think being able to hear someone practice from outside means "really loud". We heard that as kids with our crappy Gibson Lancers and solid state Silvertone amps. Anyway, great video,
Bogners don't take germanium fuzz without turning it into a norelco buzz . The ecstasy is compressed . I know Bukovac , Audrey. Klons suck , had 20 at blue man in 99 . I hate matchless and all the nashville clean only , pedal it tones . The worst tones ever .
His comment about Klons/Klones is weird for me. A pedal will have a small amount of tolerance variety but if they’re using the correct component values and types then it’s 100% in your head
Bless all those involved in getting guitar interviews with Dann! Thanks Revv!!!
Need him on Tone Talk!!
That was great! Its great to see Revv growing and evolving and players discovering how great and practical there products are.

Words of wisdom from the GOAT. Great video Derek!
Well said, Shawn!!
Thanks @ShawnTubbs

You can't go wrong with Dan Huff in the room!!
The HUFF!
The one and only!
Snow outside, wearing shorts/ t- shirt inside... cheers to your hvac guy!
Dann’s the man!! Thanks for a great video!
This man is such a legend and about the most humble person at the same time…
Always a pleasure hearing Dann both play AND talk!
Thank You so much…
He's such a genuine dude. It was awesome to just hang out and chat about gear and his approach to tones.
This was such a great interview, so much to learn from a guy like Dan. Thanks for doing this Derek and Revv!
It was awesome go to sit with him
Dan Huff the GOAT of all!!🎉😊
Goood interview! You asked everything smoothly.
thanks Luis!
Any day we get to hear from Dann is a great day!
It was a great day, he’s such a kind dude
Great stuffs, really love hearing Dann's visions
Thank you Revv peeps for this great video.
This was a really fun and interesting conversation.
Thanks! We had a blast with Dann.
The #DannFans salute you for giving us more Dann Huff, so that we may genuflect before our great leader.

100%, I find when I am too loud, I get self conscious and second guess my playing
HUGE nod of approval for the D40 from the man himself!!

@@Derek-Revv that’s so cool! Congratulations! I’d love to try one out myself!
Total legend!! Great interview.
You're the king Dann!
Excellent!! What a great guy. D40 is at the top of my wish list.
He’s the best!
Seen on a T shirt at a rock gig -- just from a guy in the crowd not on the stage..."If it ain't got tubes - it ain't shit". 90% true...
I got tipped by a very famous touring and session guitarist years ago to get a matchless amplifier sold my Marshalls and never looked back.
You can’t beat the feel of tubes
Yep I always play better when I hear room instead of my amp blasting. The sweet spot. Dan is a legend.
Legend!

That is awesome Marty. Which model of Matchless is it?
@ sc 30 thanks

Man this was Great.. Thanks Guys !!
Awesome video…….Dann is amazing.
Hard agree
That was awesome
Fantastic! Such a great amp!
Thanks Joe!
What a Class Act. Southern Gent personified right there.
Good job Derek
Thank Brent!
Love this!!!
Great interview
Thanks Poo!
Love Mr Huff’s playing. Have a follow
Thanks!
High praise for the D40.
Yeah, I was blown away
Made my day my guitar hero!
We did have a rock band at the end of the 80s......... 🙂
1:23 is that sound coming from
Which amp??? Wow. What a sound!!!
It’s all the D40
Nice one Derek ✌🏼
Thanks Carsten!
Great Video 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Awesome
Thanks!
Latency is creating phasing. A good guy at the desk will delay the direct sound to the microphone. 😁
Good video! What stands to you have under those Genelec 8351a (or 8342a?). I have the same speakers (8351a) and can’t find nice stands for them.
Cryptic Writings FTW!

Didn’t Dann make a few coins via some Peavey Classic 50’s?
Yes, he says he used his Peavey Classic 50 head from the 80’s onwards.
Oh sweet! I have a classic 50! I love it
Nice! I have a classic 50! I love it
The Classic 50 is a cool amp. It's strange though, they sound waaaaayyyyyy better when Dan uses them compared to me. ;)
And the Peavey 5150 also.
Dude is this interview about you or Dan?? Concentrate on Him
I thought we were getting a Dann Huff signature amp. I'm only a little disappointed.
Interesting idea…
Dan Huff is to Megadeth what Bob Rock is to Metallica.
He wants the t-shirt but not the amp?!? Jk, great chat!!
ahahah, he has the amp already, so I think he wants a shirt to go with it ;)
yeah
5:20 I´m sooooo glad, I was born in ´78 so my guitars are a lot cheaper to collect😊🤣
I was born in 80, not a lot of great guitars were built in 1980 from my experience
@@Derek-Revv not a lot, but they are definitly out there. I have found great sounding CBS Strats and Norlin Les Pauls. Same goes with Martins and Guild Acoustics
I have a great 1980 Les Paul Custom, still searching for a great strat from 1980 though
Damn, check out that badass COMP USA wrist rest!!!
I am pretty sure the Matchless amp shown is not a DC-30. Chieftain maybe?
I'm not an expert so others please chime in. It looks like an HC-30, which is the head version of the DC30.

Great interview
