And the caliber is ?
Ugly darned box hanging down like a sore thumb
I would gladly be a member if there was a price discount for non reloaders who don't use your valuable reloading information. Love your work, I can't pay for something I don't use tho.
@@weasel1weasel1 Agree it should have been stated up front, but he says 6.5cm at 11:14.
@@weasel1weasel1😮
UA-cam may be free, but it sure has an impact on spending habits.😂
We've had one at my work for awhile now in 6.5CM. One of our managers has one in 6.5PRC and he loves it.
I luv your excitement. I’ve had a Premier LRP in 6.5 for five years an love it. I’ve tried to tell other long range enthusiasts but never hear a positive response. Everyone thinks it’s cheap so it’s cheap….not so.
As a PhD researcher, you're speaking my language with spreadsheets and P value statically significance. People think I'm crazy when I take my laptop to the range for load development.
Phew! Was afraid you were going to tell me I got something completely wrong 😀
Ya know....... Jill Biden also has a PhD and look how smart she is! 🤠
Question, watching Hornady site, minimum is 20 shots, (can be a composite of 4, five shot groups) Yes?
Smart and educated are not the same things. Smart people compose complicated music at age 11. Educated people get expensive degrees at age 26 and have to look for a job in one.
A PhD just means you spent a lot of time studying one narrow irrelevant subject for way too long.
Yes! Finally a review on the new Premier Divide! I've been eyeing this rifle since the announcement and launch.
The one thing I took away from Masters level Stats class was that you can get any group of stats to say just about anything depending on what program you run the numbers through, and there are a bunch of them. It was nice of them to invite you to take the class again!
I’ve had the pre versions in my sights for years. I’ll be getting one this year. The action is amazing! Great review! New subscriber.
Just found your channel through your wind deflection article I just found online, great reading and look forward to watching your videos, thanks from England
Hiya Jim!
I enjoy your rifle reviews.
One element of a hunting rifle that I do not hear you focus on much is the rifles balance… I have found that a hunting rifle with optimum balance feels lighter even though it isn’t and points naturally. A well balanced rifle goes from carry to ready with reticle on target faster and more smoothly and more consistently. Also, when hunting we carry 99% of the time and shoot 1% of the time. A well balanced rifle with a flush or near flush magazine carries WAY better than a big drop box magazine. When reviewing hunting rifles, a demonstration of where the carry balance point is loaded and unloaded plus your comments and opinions on the feel of the way the rifles carries, balances and points would be valuable info for the audience.
Cheers!
Great point. I’ll consider that more as I’m doing reviews.
@@backfiregreat advice. Discussing how you choose bullet grain with barrel twist is underrated in my opinion. I’m currently figuring out my Aero M5 6.5 CM 1:8 twist 24” barrel
@@backfire I’ll second Trevor on this one. Not everyone hunts the west. For those of us in the Northeast, we spend our deer hunting seasons on the move with the gun cradled in one hand. Many don’t even mount a sling because it just gets in the way and snags on brush. All to say, not everyone is a long range hunting guru, so a well balanced rifle that carries well in one hand is really important.
Yea I agree. Ballance is key. Vto be honest the reason I hunted w the old 3006 Remington 760 pump so long. Nothing else balanced and carried as well. I now use a weatherby weatherguard 308. But some days I find myself missing the old 760pump
@@backfireyou def should. It's super important. All rifle reviews from everyone miss the Ballance part
This is why I always shoot 5 shot groups, and on different days. Consistency is key. I'll take second place every time over 1st once, and 15th the rest.
In regards to your American Whitetail accuracy comment- I was blown away a few weeks ago when I got 1/2 MOA groups with it from my .25-06 (video posted). Savage 110, heavy Shaw barrel and Boyds stock, but still...
My HMR in 6.5CM is very accurate, but it's almost 9.5 lbs naked. Heavy! Heading you say it's a little over 7 lbs makes me envious! Beautiful rifle. Great review.
Can’t wait for the Bergara Competition review. It’s something I’ve had my eye on for the past 3 or so months. It’s a beauty!
Yeah, very cool gun. Excited for some trigger time with that one.
@@backfire and y’all’s trip to Gavin’s private range with everyone looked like the trip of a lifetime(at least for me haha). Beautiful views, great group of guys, and some freaking cool guns! Makes me want to start a YT channel so I can join in on something like that!
Yes they’re nice for sure. Messed with one a couple weeks ago
From experience, I know its hard to get a good idea of what bullet is best when your barrel heats up/ weather/ fatigue. Those tiny groups humbled me.👍🤣 Ive had great accuracy with Hornady SST in .308.
Soon as I see one in 6.5PRC I'm buying it. Been keeping my eye on this Bergara Premium Divide for awhile. When they release 7PRC I'm also getting one.
It may not bother you… but bergara 6.5prcs are built on a true short action, So they won’t properly eject unfired 6.5prc rounds. They likely will have problems feeding long prc hand loads too. It bothered me enough to go a different direction in 6.5prc. I desperately want one of these bergara premiers in a true long or short action caliber though! 6.5prc is a weirdo haha.
Great review Jim. Really like Bergara for the money. Looks like an awesome rifle. I have the HRM in 308 and hoping for the Crest next.
That’s great! All my 700’s set up with HS prescion stocks along with Timney triggers and hand loads will shoot .3" at 200 yards with hand loads. Nice to see someone’s still making a good rifle currently. As you can see with factory mass produced ammo the groups aren't consistent. Mine are with hanoading.
Love your content! Keep up the great work!
Awesome rifle, great intelligent and entertaining review! Love your work and passion.
I've been saying for awhile that the Bergaras are incredible with the right load. I have a regular B14 HMR that does half inch groups and a Mg Lite that's done quarter inch groups with the right load.
The key is right load. My Bergara hmr pro throw 4-6 moa group with ammo she doesn’t like with ammo she like am looking at 0.6 moa. I love and hate that diva gun
@@NaNa-rb7ou is yours in 6.5 creedmoor by chance? Because mine is the exact same.
@@windowlicker6996 yes it’s a 6.5 creed from Bergara
My 6.5 prc divide will be in next week. Can't wait!
I want this is a 7mm prc so bad. I shot one in 300 win mag at an outdoor expo and fell in love!
This is the only rifle I want in 7 PRC. Please Bergara!
Finally!! Please do a review on the premiere canyon next!!!
I can't wait to see your review of their precision rifle. That sounds amazing!, I would also love to see how that stacks up to their HMR pro. I wonder if it's worth the extra money for the competition rifle over the HMR pro since it's part of the premiere series.
Been waiting on one of these to be reviewed since they were announced a year and a half ago.
When they get their heads out from under their tails and chamber the 7 PRC I will seriously start looking at this offering. This seems like a really nice platform.
Agreed. They are way late to the 7 PRC party.
Awesome job as usual, love the accuracy and always great to see you having so much fun.
I know this is off-topic, but I was wondering if you could review slug guns
Would fit into your discussions concerning restrictions in states
As well as help us hunters, who want to go to those restricted states.
I would argue the difference in groups of the less expensive ammo might be caused by inconsistencies with the ammo. As a future video, I'd love to see you break down 20-round boxes of factory ammo of various qualities and weigh the powder charges and projectiles to see how precise the loads are.
I know people complain about Christensen Arms. But I bought at FFT Mesa in 6.5 PRC with 20 inch barrel . With 3 different factory Loads all shot MOA. With Norma 142 long range it shot groups in 5/8 to 3/4 range. I will reload some different round. But I if I have to use Factory I feel good with that too.
The only Thing i dont like about Bergara are the limited Chamber Offerings, i would love a offering in 223 as Trainerversion like the Crest or HMR or some of the old but Gold European Calibers like 7x64 (the European Version of your 280 wich sits between 280 and 280AI) 8x57is (yes im German so i love these Chamberings ;P) or 7mm08 for my American Friends....
Went on to Bergara USA website and the 7mm PRC is now available, but only on a couple of rifle models.
_Bergara officially welcomes the 7mm Precision Rifle Cartridge to our Wilderness Series rifles and B-14 Squared Crest. Over the last year, we have watched the 7mm Precision Rifle Cartridge (7 PRC) gain traction as a preferred hunting cartridge, especially among western hunters, where long-range shots are more common. We already offer the 6.5 PRC and 300 PRC in several of our rifles, so adding the 7 PRC was a no-brainer._
_“We here at Bergara have always had a great working relationship with Hornady and several other ammunition manufacturers. Bergara was one of the first production rifle companies to offer 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, and 300 PRC. So it only made sense for Bergara to adopt the 7 PRC.” Said Bergara’s Director of Technical Development, Dan Hanus._
Secret closet is bigger than my house.
Thank you for this review and all your enthusiasm while doing it. How much of the accuracy was based on the rifle vs the scope. It seems to me that if you take a budget friendly rifle and mount a high end scope, you could have very nice results.
Yup, you have to do a course twice if you are brilliant. I had that happen all the time too me!
3 of my hunting rifles
Ruger american go wild 7mm-08
Savage 110 ultralite 6.5cm
Bergara wilderness ridge 6.5cm
All shoot hornady american whitetail well. Amd consistently. Great hunting ammo
My local gun store in bumfu*k rural MN has had two of those for well over a month. Might try and pick one up but 2500 is hefty
Would love to see a review of the proof rifles like the elevation MTR and what your thoughts are compared to this bergara or other ones in that catagory!
Love to hear your opinion on tract optics. I’ve heard some crazy claims. Vortex fan here
Would love to see this against the new Fierce Rival, awesome accuracy on that Bergara!
I will say this I bought on a Whim a Mossberg Patriot 6.5 Creed Moore with a Vortex Scope mounted on the Rifle from the Factory. I broke it out last evening on a Wood Chuck that I have been after but he stays a bit out of Range for the Little 22 Caliber Pump Rifle without a Scope on it so with Iron Sights it’s hard for me to get a Good Shot on this Whistle Pig because this Critter knows to stay out there about 250 Yards. So out came The Creed Moore, for the very first time I was very surprised at its Accuracy, The Report was very Load and that surprised a bit, but all in all out of the Box it did the Work. I go out this evening stalking any Ground Hog I get within Five feet of it as I step around the corner I don’t who Startled who because it took me a few seconds to pull my 9mm Macro I laid down Four Shots as he was Hauling the Mail away from me to one of His Den or Hole. I will get him eventually.
have the lrp love the action in it!!
Great review! I would love to see how this stacks up. Inaccuracy and target shooting to the heavier HMR premier pro. I'm comparing these two rifles and would love to know your thoughts. I will rarely hunt but it might happen one day. Thank you to anyone who can give me a good opinion!
Yes, just wish bergara or their CVA cascade line would put out a 7prc.
Prob was just me, although with that stock the rifle was always canted. Something about how the grip was. Like I said though, prob was just me.
Another small note, I’ve spent $2-4000 on a factory rifle. Save your money, and build one. If you like traditional stocks, get a McMillan. You’ll be very pleased. An expensive factory rifle is a factory rifle. A custom rifle built by a top gunsmith is very inline with the chamber, and bore etc. Either way it’s just my opinion. Although, when I paid $3800 on a factory “custom”, I got a factory rifle I wasn’t pleased with in the slightest.
yes for sure 5 shot groups are best , I usually take the average of 6 groups
here's a phenomenon if you shoot 6 - 5 shot groups at 200 yds and score group size by using 1/8" giving 1 for each 1/8" when scoring ( ie: 5/8" would score 5 ) then add up all the numbers and subtract the first number from the total this will give you the MOA. 🤔
You need to review a Sauer 100 rifle. I looked at one recently at a gun shop for the first time.
It is an amazing rifle. I also looked at a review that showed it shooting 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards.
Love My B14 HMR in 6.5 creedmore
I have all my short comings, I only did 10 years in the Air Force, 9 years on the NASA sounding rocket program, and now I teach industrial electronics to Linemen.
Perfect Jim
Hi Jim - awesome content as usual. Question I have is where to attach the arca rail on the bottom of the Divide's stock? You can't place it close to the Mag well as with the 2020 way point. Thx as always !
Love the reviews. how would you compare your new scope to the titan element?
Jim, did you just Demo Ranch your ending? Love it!
Build a comparison from a Howa mini barreled action and see if you can shoot as good on the cheap.
Hope you review the Weatherby 307 soon.
I think I would go for 1 of these or the B14 HMR in 300 win mag.
I love the videos and so i've gotta ask the audience.. does anyone else get a little "Billy Mays here!" peaking through from time to time or is it just me? 😂
Love the video! I am currently torn between a Seekins Havak PH2 and a Springfield Waypoint 2020 (both in 6.5 Creedmoor). Which would you recommend? I’ve heard good things about the Bergara Crest as well
Great content as always bud! Caliber of this amazing piece? Distance of the shoots? Last question: as you entred your dream room...the red one was a Sabatti STR, you did reviewed also that one? I just got one of these!!!
6.5 creedmoor. Not a sabatti STR. It’s a Vudoo v22.
I have a Springfield waypoint in 6.5prc and am not happy with it! First I thought it’s me but then I realized that I get consistently better groups with my fierce carbon rival in .300prc! I tried different factory rounds!
Is ur waypoing the carbon barrel? Im looking for one but want it with a non carbon barrel
@@justbaggit70 yea it is carbon barrel!
@Damon1359 im not too fond of carbon barrels, just person opinion. Ive been looking for a non carbon one for 3 years and can not find one. I hope it shoots good if i ever find it. Thanks for the reply.
Does include the cold bore set? I want to hear about the group of the first five with the cold bore shot included.
Very good. Thank yo.
Statisically you need 30 samples to get an 95% confidence evaluations. Here you are shooting a sample size of 3 (groups) evaluation. If you shot 27 more of each load then you could make a determination of which ammo is better. As a business student who graduated with a 3.6 GPA 50 years ago and who only had to take statistics once, I thought I would help you out. (smiley face)!
Do some more content with the sig cross, I think it’s a gun that a lot of ppl are still interested in!
It’s really nice, especially with the 24” barrel!
I just bought the bergara premier competition please do the review on it
Hi Jim , is that a Continental Scope ? Is it any good compared to Vortex , Sig etc ? Keep up with the great videos .
You have the scope mounted way too high for real fit and pull! The Bergara rifle looks very nice and is set up very well with its options...
the comp is hard to find. they never really let out information on it so it wasn't really sought after by anyone. been looking for one for awhile now
I'll take one in 280AI
Hey Jim based on your recent rifle comparison video I just purchased the Bergara B-14. That was in my price range. I wish you'd do a stock comparison like MDT/KRG, etc. Thoughts?
Thanks for all your videos man always enjoy them I do wond though why don’t you ever do rifle reviews in other cartridges like 308 or 30-06 or 270 or other cartridges that’s been around for years that people like me that don’t jump on all the new ban wagons use? I personally use 308 winand 300 win mag and 270 win not saying newer cartridges aren’t good but I and many other people are tired of hearing about creedmoores and pro cartridges and would like to hear and see reviews on something besides cartridges designed by Hornady
Not gonna beat the weatherby model 307 range XP for what there charging. 1100$. And it' just as accurate, lil heavier but not much. That's the best value for $$ in the market today
I have a b14 hunter that shoots 0.3 MOA groups all day in range conditions with geco 170 gr soft points
Totally awesome gun and noticed the Vector Optics I have donne a few reviews over the last few months whats your thoughts
So many negatives about it yet u love it. Strange for the price it has feeding issues, no attachment points, radial compensator and shot 1 good group.
What about 6 x 2 shot groups to test a hunting rifle. Kinda makes sense to me for cold barrel hunting conditions. It's really 1st shot that counts
Nice rifle great video
Can you do a review of the vector scope ? I have a viridian xactus, it looks exactly like your vector
Darn with not having availability in 7 prc!! 1 more year and I will have it!!
What are your thoughts on this compared to the HMR Pro? Does the Divide’s lighter weight (by two pounds) and carbon barrel significantly degrade its performance on the range? Especially for sustained fire?
those bergaras flat out shoot
Hi Jim, I'm curious how the magazine fits in this rifle. I held a Bergara HMR in a store recently and the AICS mag was very loose and rattled loudly. Is that an issue with the Premier Divide? And would you recommend this rifle over the new Fierce Carbon Rival XP?
Can you do a review on the Savage 110 High Country in 7mm Rem Mag? I have looked everywhere for a review on that specific rifle and caliber and I cannot find it anywhere.
From your late comment, I assume that rifle was in 6.5 Creedmore? But, another right-handed gun (sigh).
I follow Backfire for a while now, and I‘m just wondering that Bergara is that popular in the US…over here in Europe they are not…most of us are going for Sauer, Steyr, Mauser, Blaser….some for Tikka in the last years…also Merkel maybe….just wondering if you will do some reviews on those in the future???

Chris
Man I’m not a fan of this guy but I keep watching his videos. Just wanted to put that out there
Weatherby Just released a whole new series of rifle last week or so. The model 307 *oooo sparkle sparkle*. I would love to see a review on that. I am a Weatherby fan and am looking at getting one in 7mm PRC.
Based on your and other’s reviews of the Fierce Rage, I purchased the Carbon Rage MZ Pro. Do you consider the Bergara to be a superior rifle?
Please post the vid on the Bergara competition. I just bought it and am looking for validation
Huge miss on the sling studs! Needs a integrated pic rail and QD mounts.
Agreed
Keep it simple, I say.
Its crazy cause they got it on the B14 Crest?
You just can't go wrong with Bergara. We have 3 in this house and more to come.
Have you considered getting the Weatherby 307
Video suggestion: everyone has done a "best all around" caliber for big game, but I haven't seen a best 2 calibers to cover all your bases video. I like 270 for mule deer and smaller and 300 win mag for mule deer and bigger. I'd love to hear your take on this. Thanks, love your content!
The man for the most part just follows trends. The smaller and fatter, the better.
You can probably assume he thinks 300wsm > 300wm and 6.5 > 30cal.
@adamkadir - I literally bought a 300 win mag today over a 300 wsm 😀 But you’re right, I do like the new innovations-even if the changes are just incremental. I’m a sucker for cool new gear.
@@backfire Why not! You need people excited for new innovations just as much as you need people entrenched in simple practicality.
Im surprised you bought a Win Mag to be honest. I watch a lot of your content despite disagreeing with much of it; it's nice to see contrasting views with high production value 😂
Given the choice, .300 Win Mag vs. .300 PRC in the same rifle? I think someone would be crazy not going PRC.
@@exothermal.sprocket similar performance within the most common hunting ranges, more choices and availability for factory ammunition, generally speaking less recoil. Yeah crazy to go Win Mag 😂
The p-value is calculated under the assumption that the null hypothesis is true. Therefore, it cannot be the probability that the two loads are statistically the same (as that’s the null). The correct interpretation is the probability that you’d observe a difference more extreme due to random chance under the null hypothesis.
I’m not an expert here; but what you’re saying sounds right. Thank you for the correction.
If you're actually looking to evaluate loads statically, loose the Extreme Spread methodology and go with a Central Error Probability (CEP) methodology. It takes more data, but produces a far better 'rating' of performance.
Hello! In this video you praised the sight Vector Optics Continental 3-18x50 FFP 34mm VCT-34. What do you say compare it with Crimson Trace 5 Series 3-18x50mm Tactical Riflescope CTL-5318?
Did you upgrade from the axil gs extreme to the new axil xcor? I was looking in to that and would like to know if it’s worth the upgrade. Looks like you’re using them on a gun with a muzzle brake so must be pretty good.
Please upload the competition version review
So I am looking to get a new rifle that I can take hunting and take to a range to try out long range shooting. I absolutely LOVE how the Tikka T3x Tact A1 looks and feels, but I also like the Sig Cross. Any suggestions or could you do a comparison of the two?
ive been battling this same choice. hopefully you receive a lot of responses. one thing brought up by my gun sales guy is heat with the Sig barrel. He says after 3-5 shots the barrel gets extremely hot affecting accuracy.
