I’m guessing street price will be around $2,999. That’s based off street price-to-msrp of Bergara’s Premier line.
You guys got me excited for this gun. Awesome lightweight chassis, great to see Bergera finally playing the carbon barrel game, and accuracy looks fantastic.
The price compared to similar offerings could be an issue. Alamo Precision does a full custom APR Tomahawk with the XLR Element chassis and Proof barrel for just $300 over this MSRP.
The Springfield 2020 Waypoint is $1,000 less and seems to be a build of the same quality, but a different form factor.
Christensen’s MPR is about $800 less and Fierce’s Reaper is about $100 less. Both offer a much broader selection of chamberings, but I’d prefer Bergara’s build quality over Christensen or Fierce. I'm a huge fan of Bergara.
So this is definitely on the high end, but people who want this form factor and excellent build quality and accuracy will come for it.
Thanks for the intro to this gun Gavin. Very well produced video. Love this channel. Hoping to see this at Shot.

Nice looking rifle and a shooter as well. This would be a Great rifle for those backpack hunts. Just got a Bergara Wilderness Ridge in 6.5PRC and put a Athlon Ares BTR Gen2 4.5x27x50 on top of it as you did a review and recommendation of this scope. Getting ready to do intial break-in in a couple days. Having a hard time finding 6.5PRC brass but scored 2 boxes off Precision Hunter. Should be a shooter as well as most Bergara rifles are. Great review, covered all the details as always!

A lot of folks dont get that a supp acts like a tuner, because it lengthens the barrel and adds weight on the end. It won't effect exactly the same way, but can definitely tighten a group or expand a group, even throw the POI way off.

Really cool rifle... I've got a 6ARC AR15 that I went all out when I built it and used a 20 inch Proof Research carbon fiber wrapped barrel (I've got a 6.5 Grendel with one also) and I have a Springfield 2020 Waypoint in 6.5 Creedmoor that has a 22 inch BSF carbon fiber wrapped barrel. I've noticed it takes a pretty good bit of heat with any of them before the groups start opening up and they don't open up by much. I'm going to be picking up one of these if for nothing else to just add another carbon fiber wrapped barrel maker to the collection because I really like the lightweight rifles... Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!

OK, there's no way I can afford this rifle. That being said, great video showing us some of the "latest, greatest" rifles and I always enjoy these first look at new products. Currently, my Ruger American Predator in 6.5 CM sitting in a Magpul Hunter Stock does pretty well with consistent sub 1/2 MOA groups, and on a good day closer to 1/4 with the EC Tuner Brake. The Springfield Waypoint looks like a better "value" but we're still talking $2K.

You should do a comparison between carbon barrels and pencil profile bolt action barrels. Is there a precision difference? Which will take more rounds before loss of precision? Just performance differences in general. As well as secondary differences of weight, ability to accept muzzle devices. Basically what are we gaining or losing for the price increase.

I would have liked this video to include a real ring out for that barrel technology. Is it really a competitive technology to other composite designs and if so, how much improvement. Technology does give performance progress. Is this a breakthrough? I think it would be prudent to use a rifle Ransom rest and shoot 20 round strings quickly to measure its stability and slower to show if its ability to dissipate heat is better or not. I do not have much opinion on whose barrels to compare against but, definitely good ones. Maybe another video on this. Maybe there is already one out there. Hmmmm. Great product and video though.

Trying to grasp the improvements this barrel gives you....Pros: A properly wrapped carbon barrel adds rigidity to the barrel while at the same time you get a lighter-weight barrel. Cons: a carbon wrapped barrel traps more heat........So here we have a barrel wrapped in a stainless mesh along with a resin that is then wrapped in carbon fiber. the two things that come to mind to me are, 1- you are still trapping the heat with the carbon fiber wrap, so you are pushing the heat forward AND backward, the heat doesn't know its supposed to travel only one direction, so you are pushing more heat to your chamber then also, yes? 2- How much rigidity are you really gaining if you are using a mesh? Can you wrap the carbon to the mesh as tightly as a naked barrel? I would think no you can't, plus the mesh itself even if it is wrapped as tightly would have to have more flex, yes? And I'm sure there is a reason but stainless doesn't dissipate heat that well compared to other materials, like say aluminum....I can see the need to use stainless to match the expanding and contracting of the barrel based on heat. I'm sure these guys are a lot smarter than me, just the things I was thinking about......Claims I've seen by other carbon barrel companies in regards to dissipating heat was one company says they use a porous resin that allows the heat to escape, and another company simply drills ports into the carbon fiber wrap.

Hope they add some more “affordable” (sub $2000, would LOVE sub $1500) carbon barrel offerings to their more traditional hunting rifle lineups. Would be nice to see something in the b-14 or even premier series to give the Christensen Ridgeline and Springfield waypoint a run for their money. $3000 is not competitive and seems ridiculous frankly and the caliber selection is lackluster, hopefully this leads to more variety though.

uh, carbon fiber does not hold the heat in contrary to what you said, its usually the resin that causes that issue and the type of interface between that and the metal barrel.

Because he can i wouldn't i have rifles dating back to 1970s what do I shoot mainly ar15 300 legend and 6 5 grendel and ar47 all psa freedoms then remember s&w compass for 199.00 some years back i bought 5 even though i have a Weatherby mark5 deluxe and ruger m77 and Winchester m70s all are under 1moa including all of my tc compasses in 243win 308win 30/06 270win and 7mm rem mag they all shoot just as well as my 6000.00 Weatherby custom deluxe 7mm whby mag from 1973 a work of art my fll offered me 3k for it the person selling it tried to back out of the sale for 6 weeks it was fired 3 rounds only ever and was inherited from grandfather to grandson that had a domestic charge all weapons were court ordered fll sales sadly not knowing what they had and a buy now mistake i got it for 799.00 plus 30.00sh its 99 percent mint condition 5 years ago i only shoot my reloads with Weatherbys 1974 load data from Weatherby that my long gone friend got from Roy Weatherby himself in the early 1970s its my holy grail and my 7mm rem mag tc compass shoots just as well but with 1/3 of the recoil and 1/3 of the weight as my rifle's from the 70s 80s and 90s are heavier but works of art and craftsmanship that this is not seen in today's weapons sadly. I'm so very sorry for this long post . In ending Frank Asuna my friend that was a friend of Roy Weatherby himself along with Roy got me into reloading at 17 years old and for 45 years and hundreds of weapons later I still remember that day in South Gate California 1977 Frank Roy and a young kid in fascination of the gun store never knowing who Roy was and the friendship they shared . A time in history long gone. Remember for someday we will be gone for this i paid it forward by settling up my brothers boys with two full reloading press and dies in 5 calibers now they have the passion Roy and Frank shared with me. Have a fantastic new year and live your passion.
