If you buy a legit car that has been cheaply taken care of but you want to spend a moderate amount on it (oil, tune up and fixes) then this is great. Push button start with will make the car slightly more awkward to steal once the panels are buttoned back down. Turning a screwdriver or tire repair tool to start a car puts the gas station attendants and nosey jerks on high alert so a push button is the best of both worlds you don't have to take the key in and out and you can still start it without raising anyone's suspicion. Also if you're installed one it also lessens suspicion because you wouldn't waste money on something nice like that if it was a throw away stolen car. That is why I'm doing mine, my car was neglected but now I'm nursing it back to normalcy. I'm missing a few wires though. Don't see a ground or Key On. 1. I mean ACC and Key on 2 makes sense to me not sure what Key On. 1 is for... Also have to figure out how to tap the brake wire to the clutch one I'm guessing.

Professional car locksmith here. I DO NOT recommend doing this. IF you have a problem, or lose/break your key, Then we won't be able to help, and towing to the dealer will be very expensive. Keep it stock. It won't add any resell value, and it will be much easier to lose your key that way. Also why is it suposed to be so hard to put your key in your ignition now?
Samuel Duval it's just convenience. Also it doesn't add the danger you think it does. If you lose the blue tags you can always bypass the module. Literally if you are paranoid then you can just carry the key cylinder with you and pop it back in and use the key

I'd rather run the button threw the neutral safety switch, and get the signal before the break lights. Also, I could wire it such that the car refuses to start UNLESS the neutral safety switch is satisfied (ie the vehicle is either in park or neutral) AND the brake pedal is depressed. Also, with all the stuff vehicles do depending on the state of the tranny nowadays, I'd argue that we should stop calling it the Neutral Safety Switch (NSS), and start calling it the Gear Position Sensor (uh... oh, I guess GPS is already taken) okay then Shifter Position Sensor (SPS), since, after all, it does sense what gear you're in... for all gears... even in automatics. But that's neither here nor there.

To remove the cylinder, it has to be just past the OFF position which is basically the ON position because the dash lights and icons are all illuminated. What is your solution for this problem? Cool idea but too many concerns with installing in a vehicle that issues standard key start . Steering wheel don’t lock , and neutral safety switch doesn’t lock the gear shift .

theoretically can you hotwire your car and install of touching the wires together to start just install a momentary button, then use keys for everything else, insert key turn to on position then push hidden button to start?

Can this kind of installation work on Chrysler Neon 2004? Since my ignition Actuator that connects to the ignition switch is broken, i have installed a temporal push-start directly from a battery positive terminal and starter. Works fine but i do not like the way installed this.

If ur car has a key that has a chip- the key would have to stay some where in the car close to the ignition- and when u install the push to start - it come with a blue chip thing that activates the push to start system

Thank you for the clear explanation and for showing the wires, I wasn't sure which one was the starter wire from the ignition switch, but I see you have yours hooked up the the yellow wire. Also, I never even thought of the shifter lock-out, so I disconnected the cable like you showed. I was actually wondering what the cable was for. you install it the same way but you would need a immobilizer bypass because because the newer cars have transponder chips in them... so basically you need to bypass the oem one to put in the aftermarket one, this can be done cheaply with the coffin box type made by dei 556UW or if you have more cash to burn get a idata, expresskit, or dball/db3. The rfid acts as a transponder for the push button other wise anyone can just break into your car and push the button to start it, the car will only start if the rfid is close to the coil.

You could always just super glue your key in the ignition and have a “turn to start” set up.... same principal

mekzero yes you can just flip the key barrel because the Cylinder (Barrel) is no longer locked... it’s free to move around.

Sounds like u got ur starter wire connected to the actual power wire that keeps the engine running - reverse them - - that’s what I think it is - not their to be sure - best a luck 🍻

I’m about to get me a 2003 Chevy Tahoe and I’m about to get that system and have the dealer ship install it or have car stereo one install it
So if my car needs a chip I would still need the key right, that way my car don’t get jacked.
If ur car has a key that has a chip- the key would have to stay some where in the car close to the ignition- and when u install the push to start - it come with a blue chip thing that activates the push to start system

HA! I'm sitting here waiting for Amazon to deliver my Start/Stop unit for my Stratus so I thought I would check UA-cam for some videos, and what do I find? Thank you for the clear explanation and for showing the wires, I wasn't sure which one was the starter wire from the ignition switch, but I see you have yours hooked up the the yellow wire. Also, I never even thought of the shifter lock-out, so I disconnected the cable like you showed. I was actually wondering what the cable was for. I want to keep the barrel in the column in case the Start/Stop button poops out. Thanks for the great video. Thumbs up!

can you explain how this works with immobilizer? and what is the job of that RFID tag?
you install it the same way but you would need a immobilizer bypass because because the newer cars have transponder chips in them... so basically you need to bypass the oem one to put in the aftermarket one, this can be done cheaply with the coffin box type made by dei 556UW or if you have more cash to burn get a idata, expresskit, or dball/db3. The rfid acts as a transponder for the push button other wise anyone can just break into your car and push the button to start it, the car will only start if the rfid is close to the coil.
