Father Ted's one of the few shows that are perfect from the first episode to the last. I absolutely love it and I'm sure you two will aswell by the time you've seen them all.
This is one of my most favourite shows from the past, and i love that you like it too. Im so happy i can enjoy this again with you guys, and a joint also while we laugh :) thank you guys.
Living in Finland, I introduced Father Ted to them and the response was phenomenal. One mate in particular is so impressed with it and he has introduced it to his colleagues and mates who are truly love it. I can say your reactions are wonderful and similar to the reactions of my mates. I made the pilgrimage to "The House" and other filming locations, via the coastline around the whole island and then on to Dublin to finish with. I recommend it 👌😊 Regarding Canadian productions, I must say I enjoy Trailer Park Boys. Parts of it have me in stitches, just like FT.
It was in a league of it's own when it was first shown here in the UK in the 1990's. An absolute masterpiece in irreverent humour. I was a student at the time and one of the people I was living with was studying at theological college and she enjoyed it just as much as I did!
I worked for a few years with a young lad who regularly said and did silly things and every time I'd explain about the cows we'd both laugh our asses off.
Like all the best comedies they invent their own mad world - but they must follow their own mad internal logic to make it work. And this show is one of the best ever in that respect (or any other come to that). It's pure bloody genius.
You have to watch the whole series. They are classic and you'll enjoy them, especially as you now know the context and been introduced to the characters, and it gets better. 😄
I was working in a factory in Dublin when this series started and the next day EVERYONE was talking about it and loved it as it was the first time anyone took the piss out of the clergy or church. usually the Irish live in fear of the priest or the brotherhood. I really enjoy watching your channel. Sam.
Great reaction, guys. I hope you continue with it. You may find the second episode a little slow (not as wacky as most of them), but the show gets better (if you can imagine) as it progresses. I know you'll love it.
Just adored 'Father Ted', best comedy ever!! So sad Dermot Morgan (Father Ted) died of a heart attack the day after the last episode. It's the most hysterical comedy I have ever seen. RIP Dermot xx
Welcome to the hilarious world of Father Ted. This first aired on UK TV at about 1AM on a weekday morning, a real graveyard slot. I was unemployed at the time so it was about 36 years ago. I rememeber telling everyone about it and one by one my friends watched and fell in love with it as did the whole of the UK. A true classic.
You're right that it was a bit of a sleeper hit but it first aired at 9pm on a Friday night on Channel 4 in 1995. That sticks in my head 'cos I was at university, we saw the first episode and it quickly became required viewing. I do remember it being very word of mouth at the beginning though.
Great you're watching these. They only get better! The writers also wrote Black Books and The IT crowd. All have become international comedy classics. Please keep on watching and well keep on enjoying the fun.
Being from Ireland, I can say this is NOT a comedy show, it's REALITY TV!!! Sadly, Dermot Morgan died suddenly of a heart attack in hte mid '90's and by a sad coincidence the actor who played Fr Jack, Frank Kelly, did a number of years ago on the anniversary of Dermot's death.
Actually one of the most influential TV shows ever, broke the stranglehold of the Catholic Church over the South of Ireland and began the Shamrock Awakening.
As it goes on you will become quite attached to the characters. I know most people that watch it feel genuine sadness when the show ends. Ridiculous but heart-warming.
It gets your giggles going, then keeps them rolling. LoL I'm not stoned (atm) 🤣 and my cheeks are so sore. It's sooo funny. So refreshing to have good clean humour.
Father Ted gets better as it goes on. And it starts on a higher level from the beginning. Also check out another series called "The IT Crowd" by the same writers.
Thanks for letting me think there was a late grain truck from yesterday in the background fucked me up for a bit because they started the quarter at 9 pm last night and they're usually done by morning. Thanks.
Hey you two legends ✌️ brilliant reaction and like most in comments I hope you are able to continue with this classic comedy in episodes which do it far more justice than clips with no context. Thanks again for your great reaction and take care now 👌👍🙏
@@bradlucy that's great news for us sat on our backsides😂 it can't be that easy to do these and have a life so keep that balance, we don't want you getting tired out or poorly (sound like a mother don't I 😂) you two pickled nightmares take care now 😜👍✌️🍻
A series you would love (although I dont know where you would be able to see it) is 'Ideal' starring Johnny Vagas, it's a comedy about a small time drug dealer and the regular customer who come to buy weed from him, it's very surreal as the series unfold...
It get's better, it was telly gold. ' You've got a face on ya like a pair of tits' 'At least there's one pair between us' Some of the dialogue and characterisation on this show are bang on.
How's my two fav Canadians doing? Well Brad, Lucy, so so glad you'll be going down the Fr Ted rabbit hole and as every other comment has stated it gets better n better the more you watch it. Not overly long each episode, under half n hour but it goes quick as you know lol. Great Irish actors, filmed in Ireland but with English production if i'm not mistaken. Fr Jack is so funny and he was an established actor and is a huge part of the show. This is Irish comedy at its best considering it came out 27 yrs ago but with each view ye still can't help pissin yourself laughing it's so good. Right guys, brilliant reaction you two, just thinking, Jenny might enjoy some of these 😉, looking forward to your next reaction whatever it is, hi from Dublin as always 🥰🥰
I would suggest 'British' production rather than English, but yes I think it was a Channel 4 produced show (which I never realised was a BBC subsidiary, until a couple of yesars ago)
Yes people assume it's Irish (the talent is) but it's an English production (Hat Trick Productions), all filmed in London with the outdoor shots done in Ireland.
Father Ted is an incredible show that is beloved to this day. It only gets much better from here.
So jealous of you watching this for the first time. You've hours of joy ahead of you
I feel like I am watching them again from the beginning, so many bits I have forgotten
I love that you two were laughing. This show is comic gold.
I've seen this about 100 times, but I still had tears in my eyes by the end.
This show just gets funnier and funnier, stick with it 🤣👍
the one where Dougal becomes a milkman is pure genius. my sides hurt laughing just thinking about it
Father Ted: SPEED 3 One of the best episodes, you have to watch the movie SPEED first to get all the jokes!
Those women were in The Nip..!!!
@@richieb7692 lmao
Oh the one I like is when they get stuck in the women's underwear department it's got him off dog soldiers in it

Father Ted's one of the few shows that are perfect from the first episode to the last.
I absolutely love it and I'm sure you two will aswell by the time you've seen them all.
Go for it. Father Ted is an institution this side of the Atlantic.. Just wonderful.
Father Jack is really a classically trained actor , does a lot of theatre stuff
Frank Kelly who played Father Jack died in 2016 he appeared for a while in the British soap opera Emmerdale.
Old ones are the best ones!! Can't believe it's roughly 25 years ago this came out. Just gets funnier and funnier by the way!!
27 years! Wow time flies
scarey
Only the Irish can make fun of religion and get away with it but thats a typical Irish priest who can drink gamble smoke and swear
John from.ireland again love this reaction...cant wait u till.you do.more fr Ted....by the way all Irish actors/comedians
This is one of my most favourite shows from the past, and i love that you like it too. Im so happy i can enjoy this again with you guys, and a joint also while we laugh :) thank you guys.

My favourite episode is ted explaining “this cow is small but those cows are far away” needed this laugh today thank you 😂
I worked for a few years with a young lad who regularly said and did silly things and every time I'd explain about the cows we'd both laugh our asses off.
Is that the episode where they end up with a naked bloke on top of the car
@@markscouler2534 yes it’s their holiday one
That is such a great episode, "Hell" 😂 Also, Graham Norton's first appearance as Fr Noel Furlong 😏
I have watched every episode at least 20 times and i still cry with laughter

My uncle James, Jim Diamond singer was at the small dinner party when the actor that played Father Ted died, Dermot Morgan, good man
I've seen this show many times and never gets old.
Literally one of the greatest TV shows ever created. Probably in my top 3

Awesome Sam 😁🍻
Did you not see much of Dave Allen- he predates Father Ted somewhat with the whole taking the piss out of the near-theocracy Ireland was back then?
Well that’s not true. Dermot Morgan himself was taking the piss out of the clergy at least 15 years earlier as Fr. Trendy.
Best sitcom ever. And ted dying three days after filming the last episode. A real huge loss
So glad you're reacting to this. Hope you enjoyed.
