I look forward to these reactions so much. Father Purcell always cracks me up - "We put an extension on the house, and then put an extension on the extension, so the house is now in a circle, you see?"
According to the writer's commentary, the video for "My Lovely Horse" was based on a 1975 lifestyle video for "That's What Friends are For" by The Swarbriggs, which was Ireland's entry for the 1975 Eurovision Song Contest, which they consider the funniest music video of all time.
Hi guys I've been watching and enjoying your reactions .you should watch a Scottish sitcom Rab c Nesbitt .glasgows favourite street philosopher and alcoholic bad boy extremely funny all the best to you both.
Larry Duff dies every time Ted calls him! I loved the 4 priests taking off Kraftwerk! The one tune the Spinmaster had was Ghost Town by The Specials. Sadly Terry Hall, the frontman of socially conscious ska band The Specials, has died at the age of 63 just today. RIP
The Dancing Priest mentions “a younger fella who stole the idea of him.” He’s referring to Defrocked priest Neil Horkan who decided to dance on the Loyalist Shankill Road in order to bring peace to the North of Ireland! He also was the man who ran out in front the cars at a Formula One race and pushed over the runner who was leading the race at the Athens Olympics in 2004!
Neil Horan, also appeared on Britain's Got Talent where he advanced to the following round but didn't make the semis. The producers found out about his previous history after his first appearance was televised and he never appeared again. You can see his raucous appearance on UA-cam called Neil Horan - Britains Got Talent 2009 - Ep 6
@@jethro1963 He also ran onto the track during the 2003 British Grand Prix, and began running *towards* the cars (that were going at race speed). A marshall had to risk his life by getting Horan off the track again. He also ruined a marathon back in 2004, by charging at the lead runner and managing to hold him back enough for the rest of the runners to overtake him. Quite a nutjob.
It's a bit ironic that this episode made it out as the first of your Series 2 reactions to air, as this was originally supposed to be the first episode, and was actually written for Series 1. But as they were told they could only make 6 episodes for the first series, this one was held over for Series 2. Which is why is seems very similar in feel to Series 1. God, I'm starting to ramble on like Father Purcell now! 🙃 "Ghost Town" by The Specials being repeated on the dancefloor, and then played as the Irish National anthem cracks me up every time! 😂 Love the Spinmaster!
A great review 👌😁 It was superb to see Mrs Doyle (Pauline McLynn) appear as a learner driver in the latest Johnny English film. If you are a fan of Ardal O'Hanlon, his Thermoman/George Sunday character in My Hero is superb.
It is so interesting to see what makes canadians laugh. I am near wetting myself every time i see the dancing priest and i have seen this episode at least 20 times. …..mabey i am simple……..
How cute was that intro?! I had a huge fight with my brother, I'm talking biblical proportions of venom. But that intro kindled some joy. Love your Father Ted reactions too.
hey guys, you could maybe try a VPM and try and reroute throught that?......great season the writing and developement by the cast(nice reaction). more black books plz
Craggy Island seems to exist in some odd parallel dimension where it is at all times very small and remote, and enormously large as the episode calls for. I have absolutely zero problems with this!
@@Quessir It may well be purgatory. Remember the three 'death' cards dealt by the fortune teller in the opening episode. One for each priest, perhaps? Or what Bishop Brennan says to Ted in The Passion Of St Tibulus: "you are here until all of that money is paid back." There are more clues in Going To America, but I won't elaborate in case anyone reading this hasn't watched it.
@@richardfurness7556 Could be indeed. The tarot card scene depresses me because of how it lines up with Dermot Morgan. Ted draws three "death" cards. Dermot plays the character for three seasons, then dies. A hell of an unfortunate coincidence! But yeah I do love the Purgatory idea. It absolutely fits. Ted being the (more or less) straight man trying to make sense of a world filled with the most bizarre and insane people :D
Believe of not that's exactly what it was originaly meant to be but they decided to go down the sitcom road instead. Extremely wise decision as it turned out.
Ardal is right about FT humanizing the church when it was (and religion in general) being demonized. Father Ted was the best PR for the Catholic church (and still is). I remember the late great Norm MacDonald talking about how lazy and crappy comedians make Trump jokes because it's low hanging fruit, same with religion. There are some people who know how to satirize religion in a non spiteful, intolerant or hateful agenda driven way. Obviously Graham and Arthur from FT are on that list, South Park satirizes religion well while being respectful. That takes intelligence which is unfortunately missing from some who call themselves writers.

I’ve heard that those jokes during the credits were completely improvised they just rolled the camera and he ad-libbed 😂

Father Ted is so popular in UK. It is a revenue raiser for the streaming service. I think BBC iPlayer maybe.
Cheers from Australia!
No it’s made owned by channel 4
