The show is jointly written by Graham Linehan and Arthur Matthews. In the scene where it’s Ted’s birthday, the priest who stands and says he has to leave is Arthur Matthews. He also appears in ‘Speed 3’, the milk man episode.
The audio is more important I find for comedy, so it's not so big of a deal imo And the quality is more than enough to see what going on so its all good 👍
This is one of those rare shows that gets better and better. You form surprising attachments to the characters. John and Mary ( the fighting couple ) were based around the idea of one of the writers family always arguing until they meet their local priest where they would transform into this pretend loving couple on their best behaviour.
Loving the vids guys keep them coming, the guy who plays father stone is Irish comedian Michael Redmond who moved to Glasgow Scotland and lives directly across the street from me I see him sometimes when walking my dog.
Slightly interesting fact... for just £10 you can visit the house and sit inside for some tea and a scone. The current owner (at least when I went in 2018) owned the house when the series was filmed and shows you a lot of the parts of the house where filming took place. Her daughter helps with the serving and was the baby who appears in a later episode!
Nice! Smithwicks (pronounced Smithicks) was my grandfather's favourite beer, used to share one or two with him in front of some terrible action movie, his preferred genre. RIP James!
"Out of Africa." 🤣I've always loved this episode, despite the seeming general consensus that it's the worst. Then again, I don't think there's a single episode of Father Ted that I'd consider poor. It's one of my fave sitcoms of all time, to be sure! It's wonderful to see you reacting to it, seeing a new audience loving it is always a joy to see. :)
We have a brewery in the UK. Called Wychwood. It produces a few nice beers but the best known is Hobgoblin. They have merch too and one that was pretty good was a T-shirt saying “Whats the matter, lager boy? Frightened you might taste something?” You reminded me of it with your reaction after drinking harp.😆
So A Plot Twist! You two have been sitting on opposite sides to how we've been seeing you and swapped the image so that the cans could be read. :O Brilliant reaction as always! Thank you!
This episode is most likely at the bottom of the pile with Father Ted fans, but you may need to wear nappies (diapers) for some of the episodes coming up. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Thank you so much for doing this as a series of reaction videos. As a dyed in the wool Brad & Lucy fan, and a huge Father Ted fan of many years, this is comedy Nirvana for me. 🥰

IMO, I would say this was one of the weakest Father Ted episodes and the upcoming one, POST, is one of the best episodes. There are very few average FT shows, most of them are great.
Just a random thing to know, "Smithwick's" is pronounced "Smith-ick's", you drop the "w" for some reason, just how we say it here in Ireland 😉😂 Certainly a classic ale here 😌

If you pour 80 % Smithwicks into glass then top it off with a Guinness head you'll have a popular drink from Ireland known as a pint of "Special" or, you could go half Smithwicks and half Guinness and its known as a pint of "Mixed" or "Black n Tan" very similar to in flavour Kilkenny beer!!
@@bradlucy there is always the stouts Guinness murphys. Harp is very acidic, while smithwicks has always been known as piss water. There arent too many great irish beers. Rock shore is good.
Just discovered you guys. Hi from Ireland! Loving your reaction to this show so far, feels like you intuitively *get* our humour. Most of the characters in the show, as I'm sure you're now aware, are solidly based on deeply ingrained stereotypes here in Ireland. I was raised Catholic, and was about 11 when this show came out, and remember how wild it seemed that priests - who were everywhere in society here, school and community-wise, were the subject of such outrageous comedy.
Great show! BTW, don't give up on Irish beer just yet. The two you tried aren't very good. Nobody in Ireland drinks Harp, and Smithwicks is not a particularly good ale, but people drink it because it's cheap and relatively low in alcohol; good for when you are driving. Anyway, keep them coming! Slainte! from Dublin.
Brad, your testicles seem to have retracted back into your body, and your hair has miraculously grown back in the most astonishing way...meanwhile Lucy has suffered some horrendous hair loss and appears to have fallen from some very high ugly tree, breaking every branch on the way down...wtf happened to you two! 🤣

Personally I always like to have some in my diet in the case I ever have to go through a Matter Transference Beam (along with some Salted Peanuts) I've heard it 'cushions the system' somewhat!

It's a very bland episode admittedly, but I just love how relatable it is to real life, we all know a real life Father Stone, albeit slightly less goofy 😂 It's like one of those songs on an album that doesn't stand out at first, but eventually ends up being the most played one 💁🏻♂️
