Hi nick! Enjoyed ur video. I got issue with my unit that i bought from my local game store. It doesn’t come with the linux installation, only the android side. Do you know where can i find the images for the linux so i can flash my unit with one?
Here’s the link to @HackAround custom Linux firmware for the E6 Plus. It’s called CHAOS. I don’t currently have a working link for the stock firmware but I’m pretty sure this one is the better option anyway. github.com/tech4bot/AmberELEC/releases/tag/20240509
I'd recommend the TrimUI Smart Pro with CrossMix-OS custom firmware. It's a really nice device with great community support. The E6 Plus is more powerful and runs Android, but it's complicated, the controls arent great, and you dont have access to the Google Play Store. There are fewer resources available to help you if you have a problem with the E6. There's a huge community of support for the TrimUI Smart Pro. Check out my video on the TrimUI Smart Pro on my channel.
I think you have a different version of Android. The first one they sent me lacked the navigation buttons and it somehow stopped working and the next one they sent was updated with this version. If you know how to flash the Android version directly to the device I can probably get the file for you.
I’ll see if I can t get to that this week. I don’t have very high expectations because even my T618 devices struggle with GameCube, but Animal Crossing just might work.
@aesxperrr the one that was sent to me had a very basic web browser installed. I was able to download a better working browser called Brave using it with wi-fi. I used it to search for and install every apk on the system. I only took the card out to add roms. I’m guessing they aren’t sending the consoles with that basic web browser anymore. If not, that’s unfortunate.
Great first look video. Thanks for covering the Android side. Maybe I'm an odd duck ("Maybe‽‽‽" - Literally everyone) but if this were Linux only then I couldn't have cared less about it. I like Linux; but, there's a lot of better options around this price point. What makes the E6 Plus special is that it's a relatively big handheld that runs Android with a price well under a C-note. And almost nobody tested the Android side. It's disappointing. What's not disappointing is your review of this handheld and the E6 Plus itself. It looks like a worthy contender and a whole lot of fun. I especially like the WiiU style stick placement. I've never seen "Evangelion". It sounds like a Sunday School cartoon about a big cat that's a preacher who totally doesn't eat the other townsfolk; but, something tells me I couldn't be more wrong. When I think of green and purple I think of Joker from "Batman".
Sorry. I don’t make tutorial videos. There are channels with much more experience than I have for that. @RetroGameCorps and @JoeysRetroHandhelds make guides on how to flash and install custom firmware. It’s the part of this hobby I don’t enjoy and often struggle with. Join the @RetroHandhelds Discord and talk to the people in the E6 chat under “other devices” for more specifics on this one.
No. Maybe a few PS2 games, but probably not very comfortably. I just used my SD card from my Retroid Pocket 4 Pro in this device temporarily and it has some games from those systems on it. It’s definitely not a device you would purchase for those systems, but I might install Aethersx2 and see if I can get some of the lighter games to run.
If you're going to side load it anyways; I've had really good luck with the NetherSX2 mod. I use the "modern" version, I forget the exact name - but there's "modern" and "classic" versions built off of two of the better Aether builds, and I feel like it runs a bit better in some games. Good enough to get a decent chunk of the PS2 library running here? Probably not; but, the odds are slight better than Aether. Slightly.
Thanks for letting me know. I'll try to upload some gameplay soon. Can anybody recommend some DS games that would be good to test the touchscreen with? I know there are a ton, but I'm not very familiar with Nintendo DS.
I tested Ninja Gaiden and was surprised to see that it was vertically oriented. It actually works pretty well for side by side orientation on a 16:9 screen. Probably similar or slightly larger screens than what would be on an original DS. So yeah, I swiped and slashed and the touch screen seems to work well. I moved up a bit in the game and I'm going to play again later when I have some more time. I've never played a game with touch controls like this before. I appreciate the recommendation.
@OGTechNick thank you for checking it out and letting us know. That game is fairly demanding. If the E6plus runs that well. Then it should be able to run most of the library no sweat
This one looks nice with so many white dots resembling "Stars". Another great video showing us so many peculiar devices :)
Thanks for watching!
Looks pretty good, been keeping my eye on this as the software progresses it looks more and more appealing.
How to do that ? Can you share the firmware ! I cannot install 64bit Android apps in my E6 plus .Thanks !
I've never seen this device, I need one it's a hilariously small and cute steam deck
thank you! may I know if wifi is 2.4ghz or 5ghz? does moonlight streaming from PC work?

Tengo la consola.
Pero no me deja instalar la app emulationstation.
Compré la app y no me deja instalarla en mi consola 😪
Alguna solución.???
How? I've tried and literally can't do anything with the stock OS I can't change anything, even add a game 😢
Should i buy this or the trimui smart pro? Both around 50-60€, i love the design of this one

TrimUI. This thing is a pain in the a$$.
Hi. How to make navigation buttons appear on the screen? (go back, multitask)

Amazing ! can you play Zenless Zone Zero on it ?
Does xbox gamepass or steam link work with it?
Hey nick, could you try dolphin with like animal crossing??? I feel like that may run pretty well overall and is a small dl

@@OGTechNick I wonder because it's nigh on playable with the RGB30 I have, but maybe the 2gigs of ram or android might make the magic happen! 😁
Awesome content btw, I am usually lurking 😂 reading any additional stuff from videos.
This android end looks more promising. Thank you for sharing

Would love a demo of m64 set to the fast profile and I try cruisin USA and bad fur day, and golden eye

I've found myself chuckling for the last few days thinking about your Evangelion reference. Too funny, my friend. Thanks for the laughs.
Any chance of a video actually showing us HOW to do/install all this on our devices instead of just showing us what we're missing out on?

Is it can run Wii and PS2?

@@OGTechNick Thanks, because I have RG503, that should be same processor, but it can't run Wii and PS2 games

Someone has yet to test nds emulation , with the touchscreen on it xD

@OGTechNick to test the touch, I'd say ninja gaiden is the ultimate test game. You have to swipe and slash all sorts of crazy ways to pull off combos
@CornyPuddle cool. I’ll definitely check it out

Hmm. Cool! Probality the Android app winulator "wine emulator" program.
This is the Emulation Station Desktop Edition app for Android, ES DE. I’ve never tried winulator. I gotta check that out.
@@OGTechNick OK, I would be interested in how the program works under Android
Can it download from Google play?
Unfortunately not. It would need some sort of certification
