its warfarer not wayfarer
thank you for the great explanation
Fextralife reducing my character creation time from 8 hours to 3 😂
True words my friend
1/4 of my total game experience is from actual gameplay. Rest comes from watching the guides this dude makes :D
😂😂😂
Very true...lol Feel like I can just jump into my game and not worry about character creator
if you listen to these hacks, none of your time in character creation matters anyway, you'll still make mediocre trash or play something you don't like because everyone else is doing it.
Awesome video.
Just a few notes for those that are interested,
1. In this video, everything other than the four classes you can choose at the beginning of the game are referred to as advanced vocations, but this isnt necessarily true. Warrior and Sorcerer are advanced vocations, but Mystic Spearhand, Magic Archer, and the Trickster vocations are all hybrid vocations.
While this doesn't mean much for you, it does mean something for the creation of your pawn, as pawns can only be basic and advanced vocations, not hybrid.
2. In the first game, you gained stats upon leveling up depending on which vocation you were when you leveled up. For example, if you were a sorcerer when you leveled up, you would gain more magic (offense) when leveling up. If you were a warrior when leveling up, you would gain a lot of health and physical defense.
This has been changed for DD2. When you switch vocations, and you will be able to switch often, your stats will change as if you had been that class since level one. This will encourage you to play other vocations as you can take passive skills you learn from other vocations and use them on your preferred vocation.
Best change ever.
@@ashenembers2395 Completely agree. My biggest complaint about the first game was that you had to play as a class you often didn't want to if you wanted to min/max. Glad they removed that.
@@ashenembers2395 Im very back and forth on it. I like them getting rid of the of limitation of it. But also, if i wanted to dip into fighter for more survivability for a few levels, i could do that before. The change is probably a net positive overall, though
Very interesting. While I liked the ability to min/max while planning a build, some things just didn´t sit that well with me.
For example Mage was bad early game, stat-wise, and could gimp your char/pawn. Magic Archer´s magic damage growth sucked, so I felt forced to add in a lot of Sorcerer levels to up the class to good damage levels...
In the end I think it is a great change, allowing to just hunt for vocation passives as much as you like - and try out any classes you want to try. 10/10 change to the formula.
@@douglasnevins1598 well you can probably still take fighters augments for that, so it ends up great compromise imo
Look, I like the Magic Archer, but we all know class selection really just comes down to who gets the best outfits.
trickster no doubt my character is gonna be a sassy beastren
Fr, from what I've seen fighter only has chunk so i went mage for the drip
You will unlock Sorcerer and Warrior first by Quest about 3-5 hours in game, and Then the Hybrids much much later…
Wah bang hans nyampe sini
That sounds disappointing if it's way later.
Yes, it is quest related and it is easily missable since there’s minimum interface
@@TheJooomers To change class do I need to make a new character? Or I can just change like BG3 by paying
@@alexsun3300 in the first games there was an npc that let you change for a price
They're masterworks all, you can't go wrong.
My boy 😂😂😂
I think Trickster is BAD like really BAD and Mystic Spear hand is so different it make DD2 feel like a different game to the point that the other "classes" are useless
@@RomanKlein4144 mages/sorcs quad meteor nuff said
@RomanKlein414 The game's still a week out, you literally cannot form an opinion yet
@Mare_Man that's an interesting opinion.
This gonna be like bg3 all over again never getting out of act 1 after 200 hours of making a new character
i feel this pain
There's a 2nd Act!???
Edit: /s I'm still in the first act. Close to the end of it, but eh.
In the first game, vocations leveled quickly and we know in DD2 that vocation augments are still in the game, which are passive skills that can be earned by leveling up vocations but can be used on any vocation once unlocked. So it might be advisable to spend a little time in most vocations to grab some of the augments.
I'm wondering about potential mixing and matching with the new illusion vocation will produce. Mesmer themed build I hope is possible
Wayfarer is my go to for this game. From a gameplay perspective I do like characters that go for versatility and options over extreme specialization. From a roleplay perspective I think it fits the Arisen the most. Having this preternatural skill at combat and survival thanks to their own immense will and the Dragon turning them.
Warfarer*
Warfarer is the way! I'm going to be running magic archer, spearhand and warrior on it
It's hilarious how many people say Wayfarer. This video included 😂
Arisen the last vocationbender
@@Vince01yeah I reckon, its not the first video Ive seen them call it, he just made up a new class lmao
Mystic spearhand reminds me of Jedi survivor play style. Cant wait :)
Thanks for sharing, and getting us hyped.
I know I'm choosing Spearhand as soon as possible
I'm torn between spearhand or magick archer. They both look amazing
@@rking7117I didn’t like the feel of magic archer in the first game myself so I’m leaning spearhand.
@rking7117 just go warfarer so u can play both
Can you pick both hybrid classes ? @@smokey_novanacho
@@bastianbergholdt6019in the trailer the used magic archer, daggers, and spear hand
I said this years ago when playing pillars of eternity 2, but I'll say it again. I just love your videos man, they are so helpful and fun to watch and listen to. Thanks again for all you do!
Nice video and great explanations in the vocations makes things easier in making a decision on what to choose or which to try in order of vocation. Appreciate it 👍😀
As always, Very helpful. Thanks! I think I will do Thief.
Thanks bro great video. Been watching your Bg3 guides very nice 👌
I love your video drawings, you are just winning every time with them. Its the biggest value of this account.
I love they added the trickster as a pet class with a really cool twist instead of the generic raise skeletons or zombies(which still would be cool in DD thi)
Great video, thanks!
I was an Assassin or Sorcerer only in Dark Arisen, so I have decided to go Warrior for big bonk damage :D
Hi thanks for the video ! As usual great content. Just a precision : for Warfarer (as it is described on the official Dragon's Dogma 2 website), you will have access to all weapons and all spells of all classes, but at the cost of lower base stats (i guess stats like stamina, health, defense, and so on).
I had a lot of fun playing Magick Archer back when Dragon's Dogma released, but this time mystic spearhand seems to be the perfect combo that I always wanted in Dragon's Dogma
Why do people keep calling the Warfarer vocation "Wayfarer"?
He also says magic archer and magic spearhand lol
@@davidh6652 Technically Magick Archer is correct but magic spearhead is wrong (Mystic not magick)
Little lesson for those interested.
Magic is used to describe stage magic & illusions
Magick is used to described real magic
Magicka is used to described the essence of magic.
i think because wayfarer is an actualword people alrewady know and warfarer isnt
@@marvinvogtde That's true.
Because the Wayfarers got just what you need.
Great video!
Narrator: the fighter has no roll.
Preview: clearly showing the fighter rolling.
Loved both the magic archer and assasin in the first game although thanks to your video i am for sure going to go the magic spear hand looks amazing 😆
This game looks so fun. I cant wait to get access. Gonna be playing archer as a start and change to mystic spearhand as soon as I can.
Great video . I’m liking the mage levitation ability . In dragons dogma 2 character creation demo I created 1 mage 1 thief and 1 archer arisen I’m liking the mystic spear class .
Great video, I cant wait to see what other vocations are hidden in the game!
Nice video and good explanation for the vocations.
I need to correct you on one thing though, the Fighter vocation does in fact get a dodgeroll
You can see it in one of the trailers for the vocations
Knowing Capcom and how they made it seem like Trickster can work on both big and small creatures, that shit is going to be wild when people get their hands on it, can't wait.
trickster looks kinda cool ngl even if it's unpopular, summoning a bunch of troops or a dragon out of smoke to topple mosnters is nothing which can be considered bad
This is honestly the first game were I’m struggling to actually choose what I want to play, they all look really cool and interesting! 😆😫
Look at it from a logical standpoint: If you go Archer or Mage, you basically completely miss out on what I believe is the best part of the game: melee combat and climbing enemies. Following this logic, you should go fighter, warrior, thief or mystic spearhand (or a combination: warfarer). Personally, I think Warrior will become very frustrating at some point with all of its attacks being really slow and weighty. My choice will be the Warfarer with the Fighter, Thief and (if possible to combine 3 instead of just 2) Mystic Spearhand.
@@Vince01 not quite, DD1 had the same type of combat and you could do a lot with mage and sorcerer without missing on the climbing, and that is with the limitations that it had, you could use a mosnter to get to higher ground and cast from there, you had a small push that in the eye of a cyclops for instance could stunt him and then you could cast more freely, the system is made for people to be creative, sure a thief can literally be on top of things but there are waaaaaay more uses for the climbing and combat
Trickster for me - quite a change after decades of melee. Hopefully, leveling other vocations for benefits will still play a role.
Warrior and Archer really appeal to me, so I might have to go with Wayfinder
Wayfarer! Uh, Warfarer!
gotcha @iMaPounddo you know if vocations are locked out of weapons? like can archers use any melee weapons?
Warfarer? Auto correct murdering people out here.
I feel like they nailed all vocations, and no matter what we chose it's gonna be fun
I’m gonna go mage then sorcerer like I did in the first game based on what I know. But I know some of the new unrevealed classes will change my mind. Can’t wait for this one to drop.
The only reason the trickster is not popular is because this game isn't a multiplayer if it was that support role would be useful
I hope this game is fun, I can see there is a lot of potential for pain and suffering and frustration. Will see once its out and watch other people before I get it
I'm planning to start with Mage, I've always been a mage guy in RPG's and such. Archers are always cool too, imo, so I'm definitely leaning towards upgrading to Magick Archer. That said, Mystic Spearhand looks REALLY cool as well, with that DMC-style combat, and I do love me hack n slash games a lot. Though my argument for myself against that, is that I've played plenty of those. Haven't really had any opportunity to play a Magick Archer type style. I may or may not dabble in Warfarer to get a taste of both and compare them more closely.
If you're prepared via alchemy with healing/buff consumables, you really don't need a Mage. My ideal party from DD1 was two sorcs synching and a Fighter with my DPS main. Solid way to go.
I can’t wait for this game.
I’m playing every vocation! 👍
I remember from DD1 I tried all vocations and styles and spells.. and eventually settled on sorceror. But while everybody talks about maelstrom and those other huge, long casting, battle defining spells, I remember having the absolutely most fun with super basic level 3 fireball... the way it just knocked back enemies was so much goddamn fun, and was easy to use with super quick cast in close range self defense or very potent single/multitarget damage/CC on level3 charge made it the absolute goated spell in my book, useful in absolutely every scenario possible :D
So most of the time, I just started with big bad super duper AOE apocalypse spell and then proceeded to mop up the rest with trusty balls of fire :D
How do weapons work in this game. Is it base weapons per class throughout the entire game or do you eventually find new weapons or upgrade current weapons.
The trickster‘s pawn dmg buff looked pretty substantial. If the pawn AI is only slightly better than the original, which it probably is by a mile. Trickster might actually be up there with the big boys, in terms of damage
damn warfarer looks insanely fun indeed switching to whatever the situation in the moment needs the most, but also spearhand, teleporting on the back of a flying gryphon is pretty crazy and throwing stuff at them is fun
Looks so good.... Can't wait till next year so i can play it
Im doing warrior as soon as I can
i've watched so many of these same videos but idc. I cannot wait for this to come out
Man. I'm so stoked. The 22nd can't come soon enough
Kinda curious how long it will take to get the advanced classes and how easily you can change them. Might have both my main character and pawn on a mage at the start and switch to sorcerer or mystic spearhand asap and maybe warfarer later for the flexibility
There definitely have to be more, idk if its been officially announced that thats all theres going to be, but we still havent seen advanced archer, advanced thief, nor what the colors for Trickster represent. Nor a hybrid for thief
Wanna start as an archer, looks like one of the few games that archer is actually fun and still strong to play. but going to have to check out the mystic spear hand for sure once I can
Sorry if this has been addressed but will starting vocation prevent my choice of an advanced or hybrid class?
I really want to go mystic spear so I want to make sure my starting choice doesn't prevent that.
That spearhand gameplay looks crazy! Looks like the Jedi class lol
Magick Archer looks like a straight upgrade to Archer. What reason would there be to not pick it if you want to use bows?
Because I personally don't enjoy what Magick Archer looks like but I love bows and am looking for a good reason to stick to the basic Archer without ruining my effectiveness regarding bow gameplay.
Also, do you "ruin" an advanced Vocation by starting with a Vocation that has no ties to it? I.e. Mystic Spearhand, judging by the logo, is a Fighter-Mage Vocation mix. Will I have to start with either fighter or Mage in order to make Mystic Spearhand be good, or will I get the same end product if I start with Archer instead?
Archer has much higher mobility and dps, whereas MA is more of a static support the targets elemental weaknesses. I would say that is replaces the mage role more soo than the archer
For your 1st point, if it's anything like the first DD game, there are skills that are only available to Archer and not Magick Archer (MA). DD1 Archer can also use special arrows that explode or poison enemies, MA can not. But MA have skills that deal ice, lightning or holy damage.
As for the 2nd, in DD1 your stat gain is dependent on your current class (things like HP, stamina, magic damage, physical damage etc.) so there is an element of minmaxing. But doesn't seem to be the case in DD2, so yes you get the same end result.
Noob question. If I want my main pawn to be a Scorcerer in the end, is there any benefit for that main pawn to start out as a Mage rather than a Fighter ?
For example, will changing the main pawn from the Mage to a Sorcerer have a more natural change because of the skills/abilities earned prior with the Mage? Or is there no real benefit so it's fine to have Fighter as main pawn than later change it to Sorcerer ?
I'll probably start with archer to see if the range feels impactful and maybe decide between warrior or magick archer since I want big damage but still be involved without waiting on spells to happen, might want my party to be archer, mage, fighter, and something else at all times for myself
Rangewr in the first game was impactful, here there is not that class but archer gained a lot of the moves from ranger so is probably going to inherit also that importance since is the only physical range damage in the game
Think about your stats too. If you want to deal the most dmg at level 200, you’re gonna have to level up using certain vocations from 1 to 10, then 10 to 50, etc. level up the smart way.
@@LordAsturgis if tou are refering to the old level by vocation stat switch from 1, it is confirmed stats will adjust and there wont be an issue in the order
You've left out one crucial detail: how are attribute points distributed upon levelling in DD2? For those without context: in the original DD, your attributes levelled automatically, but HOW MUCH they levelled up depended entirely on which vocation you were playing AT THE MOMENT YOU LEVELLED UP. In other words, you could take a ton of levels in Mage/Sorcerer and then change vocation to warrior, sure - but all those levels in mage meant you got a lot of mana, but very little health & edurance - meaning you'd be a much, much weaker warrior if you did that than someone who had played warrior throughout. Also, earlier levels gave you much greater stat gains than later levels. The trick in dragon's dogma was to figure out what you wanted to play eventually, and then swap vocations at critical level breakpoints to optimise your stats. I don't know if DD2 follows the same premise, but we'd better find out before choosing our starting vocations.
No, they've confirmed that stats are locked in now. So if you switch from a mage to a warrior, you will have the stats as if you were a warrior from the start. You can actually switch at will without planning your build in advance now.
It's different now. Stats change when you switch classes now. For example, if you start as a fighter and get to level 15 as one, if you switch to a mage your stats will be optimized to be as if you went through those 15 levels as a mage. So switching from a fighter to a mage will give you full mage stats.
You can switch to any vocation now without being weakened due to vocation specific stat growth.
@@ShnauftenCapcom confirmed it? Sorry, I couldn't find anything about this via Google. That wouldn't be a bad change for many players
It has been confirmed by like 9 different people that the levels just switch to whatever vocation you are now using
Lol. We found out weeks ago. You obviously don't look at many DD2 videos. Another lazy millennial that wants everyone else to do their research for them. The answer is out there. Find it yourself, kid. Unbelievable.
On the warfairer; the symbol has 3 weapon types on it and gameplay has shown swapping between 3 weapons. So its safe to say 3, but who knows maybe you'll only start with 2 and the 3 is a master skill. The drawback is lower base stats, you have to use situational strength and cross class combos to make it shine. Not an endgame build either since we know stats don't work the same as the first game and stats get respec when you swap vocations.
Is your total party 3 or 4 units - and how is the AI (Can the Fighter tank on its own reasonably well)?
I know I definitely want to main Mystic Spearhand. The difficulty is in choosing my initial vocation. All of them are good. I had the same issue in the original game as well.
So it says there is no dodge but,in the beginning of the video there was de fighter who done a Barrel roll and in the right corner it says if you press B (in fight mode) dash so is there for some classes a evade function like a roll or dash ?
Sorry for my bad english Greetings from germany :)
Are all the vocations announced yet? Or are some of them secrets until you play the game?
This game launches on my birthday …. Looks like I know what my present os going to be….a pre order copy of this game
Thief, thief, thief ! power stance w/ dodge rolling - Dragon Souls ftw 😁
Do I have a second weapon slot? I’m eyeing on playing archer but do I have like a close range weapon as well?
Leaning toward archer vs fighter as my arisen to start with a thief vs mage for my pawn. Definitely going to try trickster and mystic spear hand. Those look very fun. Long term though most likely a wayfarer with a melee and ranger skillset and then probably trickster to have that extra utility
So now I am as undecided as before... gotta catch them all!
So I'm learning in these comments that your stats change according to your current vocation, which is excellent news, but is there any idea at the moment how advanced vocations are unlocked? For example, I want to be a spearhand, does that mean I need to level up fighter and mage or something like that?
There was optional lock on in the first game I'm pretty sure it will be in the second. You might want to confirm that since most of the gameplau hasn't had ui.
I was going ask Fextralife, can you please tell me how was the framerate for Dragons Dogma 2 on PS5 was it an issue at all?
I played strider in the first game, very fun class and from what I've seen from the trailers, the thief vocation in this game looks even more fun and satisfying, but when a game lets me use a spear/glaive you know I'm gonna be using that and the versatility shown with the mystic spearhand that's what I'll go for regardless.
Why be one when you can be all? Warfarer with dagger and spear
edit. name corrected
@@clauro6153 Warfarer, this mix of names i swear is like a mandela effect XD not your fault tho I see a lot of people get it that way for some reason, also Warfarer has not as high stats as its base counterparts, is like a midieum lavel stats in all kind of vocation, so while it allows a lot of versatility I think it will lack high power skills and core basics of others for balance, relying mostly in the use of combos and the like which can make it awesome but balanced
@@EstebanBrenesV Thanks, fixed. A Jack-of-all-trades is one of my favorite play styles
I want to try a few but for my first play through I plan to play Mystic Archer. It was my favorite in the first game. Luckily I got a 4 day weekend next weekend so I'm going to have lots of free time to play the game at launch. I haven't pre ordered though. I don't like pre ordering games.
I just got it today not started yet but looks so good never played the first one so does that matter?
I love playing a warrior , but this means I have to give up the possibility of having those three vocations in the team...
The spearhead looks sick can you make like melee archer spearhead type build?
Does Mystic Spearhand require you to level up both fighter and mage or could a thief become a spearhand?
Do we need to unlock the advanced vocations for ourselves, before we can apply it to our main pawn?
Are there more vocations then this? I was hoping on a mix of thief with magic. I guess warfarer will work
So is there secret class like Remnant 2?
There is 5 classes missing, I'm not sure but will be very upset if theses are only class available.
Is there any info on which starting class to play before going into trickster? I can't find any online and I'd like to know what class I should start as
Trickster is sort of like a tank class, so probably Fighter.
@@Fextralife Thanks! I'm sure you've heard this multiple times, but your videos are the best around
So is the Warfarer just a way to combine your favorite vocations?
Interestingly, the mystic spearhand gameplay actually resembles the thief more than the fighter, to me. So I wonder if I wanted to go Thief before switching to that, would that synergize well... 🤔
I KNOW I want to go Mystic Spearhand eventually, but I feel more intrigued by the Thief over the Fighter in the early stages.
I’m going Thief then Mystic Spearhand 💯
Perfect timing
Warfarer seems like my cup of tea. But then again, I never really played assassin in the first game and they had access to a lot of weapons.
Do you control the other characters in your group or is it all AI?
I main sword and board in Monster Hunter, I have a feeling it’s gonna be very similar and I’m very happy about that lol
You'll probably like it. It's important to note that only dagger based classes will likely have access to a dedicated dodge roll. Other classes will still have access to invincibility frames in some attacks, like foresight slash from monster hunter. Aside from that dodging involves running or literally jumping out of range. Or blocking of course if you have a shield. Your pawn will also follow after you. In the first game it was particularly annoying, if you smashed all the crates and looted them your pawns would start doing it on reflex, taking all the goodies. They'll also do this if you attack more weakpoints, or use healing items whenever you take damage, exploiting elemental weaknesses. Just in case you aren't too familiar with the first game. It's a bit to get used to, not 1:1 like mh but you'll be able to tell quickly that you're playing a Capcom game
I like playing duelist, melee fighters. Ideally this would be someone wielding 1H-sword and using timed parries/blocks in combat with maybe some dodging or small sidestepping mechanic (So the witcher 3). From what I can gather Thief is all about dodging and slashing a bunch, and the fighter is probably the closest to what I am looking for, timed blocks and counters, except I have to do it with a shield, I wish I could just use a 1-H sword with no shield for RP reasons but it is what it is.
Starting off I'll be an archer, then move into Mystic Spear Hand or Magic Archer, whichever comes first. With MSH most likely being main vocation.
I'm curious about Warfarer though since it kinda like a busted multi-class vocation. For example being able to have a sorcerer's firepower, spell sync with sorcerer pawns, and ability to regen your stamina quickly then switch to another 2 vocations seems broken.
They have said that warfarer has less stats than the actual classes, look at it as a mid stats in all, so it has higher than the lowest of classes but lower than the highest, also it is limited on the skills it can have from each vocation and can only switch between a few weapons at a time in combat
@@EstebanBrenesV Yeah, I totally get that it has lower base stats and for players that want them maxed it would be a deterrent. However, Warfare to me seems like the ultimate multipurpose class. You can combine vocations to make up for the weaknesses that lone vocations have, create super specialized builds, and most importantly it seems really fun switching between the various play styles during combat.
hell yea we baby! Getting my prep work in like batman it cant come soon enough!
You talked about being hard to keep using potions.
In the first game you could go to that shining lake, put a teleport there.
And then make all party members fill the empty bottles with the strongest potion in the game.
Did we lose that in the second game?
I’m sure there is probably something similar in the game. But no way of knowing until the full release.
I’m most pumped for the trickster. I want to trick enemies into fighting each other and stuff like that
I’m new to Dragons Dogma but I played a bunch of rpgs and jrpgs so I’m not new to this genre. But I really don’t know which vocation to choose, they all look soo sick
I´m courious how they did the "no lock on" combat with mouse & keyboard. Like the souls games, were camera rotates arround your charakter and you have to press forward and attak or block becaus you attack in the direction your char is looking. Or like Remant from the Ashes, where the camera also rotates arround your charakter, but you attak in the direction where your camera is looking. So you don´t have to press forward simultaneously. Or like good oldshool 3rd person games, where your charakter rotates with the camere, seeing your char allways from behind like BloodRayne or the original Rune.
But for me it looks like the charakter have an (slight?) auto aim (wich was also mentioned in some previews), at least with some classes, and more like a Batman or Assassins Creed style combat system, wich would be a bummer. Neverseless we will see on Friday, and im exited to explore the game world.
Referring to 1:25 - fighter class.
As an PC and M+K gamer, we play the Souls games without auto aim - and ideally every game. We don´t have to rely on the pesky "focus" bs!
Does it matter which vocation you start with? Like if I start with archer can I still choose mystic spearhand later? Never played DD
It really won't matter what you start with. I'm DD2, your stat distribution will change depending on your vocations, so changing vocations at any point also changes your stats.
The Trickster looks really cool, especially if the part where you lure enemies to jump to their death. The possibilities are endless!
Probably Warrior and Mystic Spearhand. I want to be close to enemies in all my games and aiming with a controller with Archer classes is not my thing at all. But i'll try them at some point
With how many pawns do you start? Like should I focus on making my main pawn a mage for healing or will I get the chance to get one early on so I can go with another?
For like the first 20 minutes in the original you only had 1, but soon after you could choose your other 2. From what we know with the trailers, it’s similar as the dragon steals your heart and you can then go get your other pawns from a rift stone

thank you!@@godly_potatoe69xd19
I'm going to start out as a Archer, and then once I max out my rank juggle between Magick Archer and Trickster. Going to try and have a more Zoning based character build like my guys in Monster Hunter.
Gunner 4 life yo
Warfarer for me since they removed the OP strider class. Have a feeling with enough versatility in choices, people will find ways to make a new broken class from it despite lower stats. We all know stats mean nothing when it comes to combo pieces from gearing.
I've always been hybrid fan with mystic knight or archer but spearman just screams dark maul so that's got to be the go to vocation.
