Thanks for the heads up regarding the Final Fantasy Tactics style "too late to save now lol" moment!
Does resting at your house work for saves?
@@stfauth6031resting at your house counts as an inn save
My guy. Talks about "visually appealing pawns" shows of SM Domantrix on screen. What a lord
give the people what they want
And he likes it, my man.
A real pawn star
Dude are you like 10 years old or something? Lol the fact that’s all it takes to make someone a “lord” in your mind is just sad. Tell me you’re not even in high school yet without saying you’re not even in high school yet
@@llcoolg8682 bro is triggered
Just a note about inn saves. There’s a quest in the capital where you house sit for a lady for about a week in game. After this you are able to buy the house for 20k gold. During this time and after purchase you can rest for free AND it counts as an inn save.
Also, there is one guy selling bigger mansion in capital city, but i think i costs 200K gold :)
And you don’t even really have to stay in the city for the week
I think the quest dialogue is a bit misleading. It says you have to "Frequent the house for a week" but that's not actually true. You just have to sleep in the bed 7-8 times, but they don't have to be sequential. You can think of it as a free 8 saves that don't require you to use the Inn and then you have to purchase the house to keep using it.
is that in Vernmouth?
You dont even have to do that.. I didn't visit the house at all when I did the quest, and I still got the option to buy it.@@Rewighting23
Don't use the inn. Just buy the cheap house in the first city. You'll find a lady who wants you to watch over her house for the night, & if you oblige, you can sleep at her place for one night, which upon morning she'll offer to sell it to you for 5000 gold, & it costs 2000 gold a night to sleep in the inn. You do the mafs
Maff
I'm fairly certain I had to pay 20,000 for it; maybe that's because I couldn't pay for it immediately but idk.
"Make your pawn attractive so people are more likely to pick it, and send you gifts"
Me: "yes........that is why i spent 8 hours doing such a thing......"
I didn’t make a sexy pawn I just made a wild giant cat man to carry my things. Nobody gonna pick him 😭
@@HalfAlligatorme too 😅 to balance my mage arisen 🤭
Don’t worry plenty of people will want giant cats too! Lol
@@HalfAlligatori did the same and my pawn brings back stuff like every 10 mins
@@HalfAlligator its more about vocation and level. At least for me. I just wanna balance my team
Just about to start the game now, and good ol' Fextra uploads at the right time. Enjoy the game tonight guys!
You too my friend
You too!!
Same you to 🫡🔥
3 more hours on the east, where are you
I don’t get to play until tomorrow when it releases for me😞
It's REALLY good to know that camping doesn't count as "resting at an inn", thanks for that info. As someone who occasionally save-scums or just wants to play it safe to complete quests i was wondering how the save system worked
Found that out the hard way!
@@Fextralife Same! The first time I figured that out in DD1 I lost a good 10 hours of gameplay and it was a real bummer
Thanks
I didn't wanna cough up the gold once I got to the big city inn and now I deeply regret it after having to load from the very first inn😭
This just effed me over
Thank you for everything you do for gaming. Honestly man, we don’t deserve someone like you, thank you for being the super op max level character showing us level 1’s where to go
6:48 Wow! The beetle is a great addition to the game! Permanent carry weight increase is always welcome.
They aren't as significant as you think, and you're going to want to find ALL of them to see any noticeable difference. Encumbrance in this game is terrible, and about twice as bad as the previous game. Stamina recovery is awful too. You can't run five seconds without wheezing like an asthmatic. They really wanted your traveling experience to be the worst it could be.
Game plays more like a survival game than an Action RPG half of the time.
@@Neonmirrorblack from my hour of gameplay . I liked it . But NO LOCK ON!! thats messed up ... also i found out you cannot start e new game . But other than that im enjoying it so far .
@UndefeatedEagle there's a soft lock on
@@slothcatgaming5936 That's called "aim assist", and it's super aggressive.
@@Neonmirrorblackbro im playing it rn. Most the things u say is probably just how u play the game. I rarely run out of stamina 💀
Fextralife you're on a while different level. Like Jeebus man gamers are truly blessed to have you and your videos. Something I wish I could do
I am so glad I found your channel. I really appreciate your approach ❤
The deadpan delivery of "Aphonite....to make your pawns shut up" Had me cracking up. :D :D :D
Fextralife comin' in the cluch.. Right on time! Much appreciated!
I've been looking forward to this guide, thanks for all the work that you guys put into this👌
Very unfortunate to see this game getting negatively review bombed by people who haven’t played or don’t even know what they’re talking about.
It's just the PC players, console has no issues imo
It is fully deserved. No one saying the game is not good.
It’s mostly the horrible performance and the silly unnecessary micro transactions in a single player game… and it has denuvo…
AAA single player RPG games for 60+ bucks shouldn’t have these problems.
For the negative reviews based on 30fps or mtx, sure. I've played the game and it's pretty middling from combat, story the world, it's just not a very good game! It's a solid 7, to many flaws thst ruin the experience
Ya the problem is the dogshit performance.
On PC? Yeah well it doesn't run on the newest most expensive hardware...
As a Dragon's Dogma veteran, I already knew most of this (which I expected to) but I did learn some of the new twists DD2 has introduced (also as expected).
Thanks for the great video, it was as detailed and informative as usual. 😎👍
Onward, fellow Arisen! The Dragon awaits!
Watching this as the download finishes. Can't wait to hear that wolves are weak to fire again!
Wolves hunt in packs
Unfortunately, i don't think they say it anymore. I've killed a ton of wolves, and nobody said shit. They blacksmith doesn't say "masterworks all" either.
This game and Rise of the Ronin is gonna be a great way to keep myself occupied till Shadow of the Erdtree
Rebirth is also amazing
Some great tips here, especially some ones about Pawns I didn’t know, thanks 😊
It’s crazy that the game is getting review bombed on Steam, hope it doesn’t drive people away who just see “mostly negative” and immediately leave the store page. So looking forward to starting this weekend, thank you so much for the beginner tips Fextra!
You know what's funny? It now has almost 190k people playing right now in steam. People are too busy playing the game than complaning about it lol.
@@lestertheearthworm809tbf they aren’t really complaining about the game, it’s about the micro transaction practises that capcom are using. I own and am loving the game but that is a huge issue
Even on PS5 the fps is atrocious, every 7-10 seconds dropping well below 30 fps so some of the reviews are probably accurate, but just like everyone else I’m trying to squeeze some enjoyment out of it I guess
The people who are upset seem to be furiously angry about them doing microtransactions at the last minute. I think it looks like a good game but I do think microtransactions are ruining gaming and having a very negative impact in the gaming world. Besides that it does seem like a good game. Personally I will not be purchasing this game because they tried to be stealthy and sneak in microtransactions last minute.
@@BassPlayer9000 Yeah. I messed up and preordered because of advance reviews, but if I'd known about the microtransactions, I would have at least waited months/years for it to drop way down in price. Not because I can't afford it, but just to not reward that kinda sneaky last minute bullshit
Fex, I have come to trust you so much that I figured if you were going to spoil the archer quest, you had a very good reason. :)
Totally going to play this before Ronin. Really prefer the fantasy enemies since more strategy is required for overcoming varied enemy types ie monsters. I just find it more engaging.
dont forget to do the Sphinx riddles as early as possible (and try and remember your first Seekers Token that you picked up). Just in the first 5 riddles you can get 2 more Portcrystals (1 through duplicating the item given to the Sphinx by giving it a port Crystal). Im around 25 hours in and have the ability to place 3 portcrystals around, which is massive.
Hmm...I already met Sphinx, but honestly I dont much understand her, because she uses english expressions I dont understand....some kind of old english ??? So I have to use translator on phone....
@@joespee3666 Yeah it's pretty weird but the likely hood of getting the riddles without help is pretty slim anyways. Just use a guide for that one thing and it will set you up nicely
Excellent guide as always 👊🏾
Tomorrow is gonna be the longest day of work ever
Been playing this game all day today on Series X. It’s amazing. So much fun. Managing your inventory, party and quest is a lot at first but it gets better as you play. Looks great and has been running well, so far. Make sure you are prepared before going into the wild!!!
Best beginner guide ever, wel done im def gonna get fighter to lvl 10 right away , weight can be a pain
Just got mine and will be starting it thanks for the guide
the oracle (the crystal ball on the map) in the cities will tell you the direction of the quest with a fee (50 gold). You can do this if you don't want to re-hire pawn or look up guide.
FYI: You can decline consent to analytical data being sent. If you dont want them selling your data, decline it the first time you see the msg. or turn it off in the options after.
It’s not to sell your data you donut. It’s to help fix bugs etc. 😂😂😂
I absolutely love this game! The problem is, I suck at games 😅 It's going to take a long time for me to learn the mechanics, but it'll be so worth it. Thanks for the tips.
thumbs up buddy! hope you are able to enjoy it yourself with out too much time focusing on content creation! super helpful video!
I'm 6h in and this is the best guide so far cheers.
I just startet playing yesterday. I didnt know it had such an awesome character creator. I spend two hours trying to make myself and he looks just like me.
This is how I found out about inn storage. Thank you so much
Watching this while waiting for my copy. Can’t wait!
I’ll be buying this game this weekend! Thx for the tips ❤
Not playing this game for a long, long time but here's a view, a comment, and a like
I love your guides man!
Good guide 👍 played about 3-4 hours so far on ps5 and have enjoyed it.
I’m so lost playing this game and this helps me so much haha
downloading it now perfect time to watch this guide
Thank you needed this about to play it tonight 👏🏿
Did some early level quest and was taking a carriage and got ambushed by an ogre, got his health down to the last bar and a griffin came crashing down shattering the carriage 😂 and the two instantly bodied me and my pawns
lol I would say “get rekt” or “get good” but to be honest I feel bad for you 😂 that’s bad luck my boy
Welcome to Dragon's Dogma 2!
@DUES_EX oh its not bad luck, that's just Dragons Dogma. It'll be easy for a while then all the sudden I'm ambushed by a ogre, goblins, wolves, and a griffin.
The last fight my pawns and I barely made it out, killed everything but the griffin. Didn't even deplete one health bar.
I love this game.
@@CharlesVanexX that’s the exact scenario that happened lol
@marshmellowknightvlogs2916 lol it's pretty awesome. I'll be feeling like the game is easy for a couple minutes then it just gets hard as heck outta nowhere. I still haven't figured out how to defeat the slime as an archer.
When you said "make ur pawn visually appealing...", I went oh, now I know I can trust ur advice xD
This game is incredible having such a blast with it
Really valuable tips, thanks!
Eating the bugs gives you a PERMENENT increase to your carrying capacity?! I thought they were temporary buffs so I was stockpiling them, now me and my main pawn are going to be scarfing down bugs.
There ARE quick items available. On PS5 press L1 and dpad to use a recovery herb/potion. The position in your inventory dictates which is used first.
Amazing guide! Particularly the specific tip in switching to Archer, to unlock the mission to gain a Portcrystal early on. Having put in 60-70hrs to Dark Arisen (for the first time) a few months back, I knew some of these principles. But for first timers and veterans regardless, this guide was superb, thank you 👊😎
Very comprehensive and helpful! I would mention the opportunity to duplicate a port crystal with one of the Sphinx riddles... May be somewhat of a spoiler but worth it IMO to get the invaluable extra PC.
Hell yes the beginners guide is here!
Dispute the FPS issue at times, I am extremely impressed and having a blast. It really makes you feel like your going on these mini adventures
So much for sticking to one vocation for the entire game
I had no idea about the taller thing being able to hold more. I made my character as small as possible and I definitely feel the effects of being overweight all the time. Very useful since I never played dragons dogma 1
Enjoying the first hour or so. Runs great at 1440p on RTX 4070 and i5 13500. Bought a controller for this and still finding it tricky to manage camera and movement. I find it a little frustrating that a pawn will call out a chest or something but if you’re busy at the moment how to remember who said it and what to do about it. The aiming doesn’t feel very intuitive as a starting archer but it’s not bad.
Make pawns waifu’s got it 👍
I'd love to see a list of quests that do have some sort of time limit associated with them, so we can know easily which ones we should not let linger
thank you so much! it helps a lot!
Thanks for letting me know carry weight is tied to character size, that would have been annoying to find out later
But the bigger you are the less stamina you have. So small= loads of stamina not much carry weight and Big= little stamina loads of cary weight
@@g3ldriththat’s why I made mine medium, since I hand no clue what build I wanted to go down.
Let the adventures begin hellz yeahh!!! 😤🙌
Does Glyndwr show up with the quest even if you dont use archer at the time? can i talk to him with lets say a warrior but then go change after talking to him and finishing the quest as a archer? Don’t plan to use an archer class but i dont want to miss this quest..
While there is no true selectable quick item use option you can use health and stamina potions with L1 + up/down on the dpad respectively.
Amazing guide ,very useful..
Here's a tip. Don't follow the main path at the beginning. Stray from the path, and look for the hardest and strongest enemies you can find to grind. XD
Very helpful thank you!
I'll prolly need this. I haven't played Dragons Dogma in about a decade.
I seriously hope the eternal ferrystone makes a comeback whenever they release whatever this game's version of DA will be.
I made my character my height/weight and made my main pawn the height/weight of my wife. Which she is short. >.< O well, adds to the adventure!
That’s very cute
I ve done exactly the same thing adventuring with my wife lmao
Same did that with me and my gf
I made my ideal girlfriend. Don't tell my real girlfriend
Me too. :)
Will your main pawn inclination change like the first game if you keep picking up stuff or telling them to come here or go there?
Does 2 mess up scaling if you switch vocations like it did in the first 1? If you played magical classes your int/mana and magic damage scaled up with level every time you leveled in dd1. I haven’t been able to find any info on it in 2 yet. And I’m starting when I get home
How does the dye system work? I bought some dyes but can’t use them, all I want is to have green hair on my pawn !
when using the storage at the inn will it carry over to the other one. or will we have to go back to the one we stored it at?
Great video brother 👍🏼
So question: You talk about traveling to different towns, for example the elf town fo magic user vocation's gear... but if I go out and travel far at the beginning, does that not mean some quests will become unavaible for me from previous locations, because I travelled further?
Between working fulltime and being a father of 2 i really appreciate this game. I can jump on for an hour or two and just explore and there is always something to find and or do. The fluidity of this game is amazing and after like 300 hours in Baldurs gate this combat is amazing! (Not knocking BG3 just a different cup of tea) Both amazing games.
in dragon's dogma 1 any gear you equipped to your other two pawns was sent to your stash if you switch them out. is that no longer the case?
Does leveling a specific vocation increase certain base stats each level up like the first game?
I could’ve swore I saw a trailer where you could have two vocations equipped at once. Am I mistaken and if I’m not, how do you do that?
IF i refuse to accept a quest, i can come.back and accept it later ? Just because time passes and the quest fails. To prevent that to happen. Is possible? Or IF i refuse, the quest disappear forever?
Question. I have ben playing as a thief and unlocked some augments. I changed to a fighter. When I go to augments, the thief's augments are not listed. What am i missing?
Geeat starter tips. Thanks
Love your guides as always! Been watching you since probably Dark Souls II, if not longer. So far surprised at the lack of difficulty. Killed the first major boss (SPOILERS) the troll/ogre and it didn't even touch me once.
Quick question. Are the exclamation points on the mini map small events, an item to be found, or quest givers?
Ladders and interactables
“Make your pawn visually appealing if you can” -shows mostly naked female pawn 😂😂
@Fextralife where do you get these incense to change pawn inclination? I have one from the deluxe edition but i see yours is "simple", specific to a inclination.
In the first major town (Vernworth)
@@Fextralifethank you for the quick response! Love the videos and information you guys do! 🙇💪
Does the order/amount you level up a vocation affect your permanent balance of stats like it did in the first game? I loved the idea of leveling different vocations, but the fact that it felt like I *needed* to level them in a certain order, or spend most of the game playing a different one to get the right stat balance for the one I actually wanted, was a bit of a turn off.
Is there a level cap in DD2 like there was in DD:DA?
What do you mean by "kindhearted can be overbearing"? Does that mean you have to micromanage them more?
Dude, whats wrong with the items in you inventory, if you cant quick slot the potions when on earth you supposed to use them and how? And are you companions using potions if you place them in there inventory? Cheers
12:37, not sure how it is but holding Ctrl brings up a menu bottom left and has items there. Not sure if it can be assigned tho
Also if you are lost on a mission go to oracles in towns they will give you info on what you need to do next!
I like challenging games. I never finished the first Dragons Dogma but played like 40 hours of it haha.
DD2 does look really interesting and fun.
I started as an archer and I’m having a hard time trying another vocation. I still have two more vocation spaces to max out the archer so I’ll wait until it’s maxed out at the very least. Haven’t had this much fun since ER.
Only just started and it's not going well, no gold to rest at inns, my health is currently stuck at less than half bar, and my fighter pawn keeps dying because everything we fight flies. I took mage but everytime i try and get a big spell off something slaps me upside the head to disrupt it
Try camping to get your health back. If you need gold, explore towns, there is gold everywhere.
@@Fextralife can't camp, no camping kit
Hold on you can have more than one pawn, explains why it was so hard with just 1
Yes you need all pawns if you’re a mage make sure you get a fighter as well
Do items respawn? if so is it fixed time or variable
I'm likely gonna wait to pick this game up until it's a little better optimised by the devs. But thanks for all the helpful tips man.
If you play on pc, I highly recommend controller. It's made it so much easier.
How did you create the scantily dressed pawn? Can I hire her? If so how? Thanks.
I had not thought about making the pawn super attractive to get them hired.
RPG Pimping
So I wanted to be a magic archer but you don’t get that til late in the game ? So should I just focus on being an archer all game or would it be smarter to play them all and level them all
Probably use them all as you get augment skills which lets you use them on other classes.
@@ringofdreal1374 ah okay, so use them all and get all the skills to be fully powered towards the end
I suggest searching up the augments on fextralife’s wiki page to see which augments u want for ur build then just level those classes accordingly
