That Sickle like weapon is a Khopesh if I'm not mistaken. At 16:30 if I'm not mistaken the Spearhand's Duospear blades would be considered Khopeshes. From what it sounds like the Warfarer would probably be at its best when all Vocations and their skills are maxed out.
Spotted it at 3:00 and came to say that. It's always great to see them in the wild regardless but it's always amazed me that they weren't more widespread in fantasy simply because it looks like something an Elf or an Orc might use.
Magic in this game looks so cool. But alas i cant resist the allure of being just the normal guy with the indomitable will and strength in a world of crazy supernatural magic
Thank you so much for talking about the class progression and what you unlock when you level up. I've watched a decent amount of Dragon's Dogma 2 videos and not a single one of them has covered this.
If warfarer let's you essentially make your own hybrid class, I'm going to make a thief/trickster hybrid. That sounds crazy. Distract and confuse the enemy with illusions and then quickly strike with the daggers through the smoke
warfarer lets you have 3 of any vocations weapons at the cost of, 3 skills per vocation instead of 6, losing your r1 skill(unique to each vocation) because that will become change weapon, and a penalty to all stats
@@napalm777It's 4 skills for all vocations, including Warfarer, though with Warfarer one of those slots will be taken by switch weapon. You also don't lose the unique vocation/weapon skill. From the most recent info, Warfarer will effectively have access to all class core skills, and 4 special weapon abilities of your choice. One of the latter will likely be the weapon switch for you, but it's not mandatory, you will just have to swap them manually from inventory.
I'm so excited to play Dragons Dogma 2. I am concerned with how fast the time is flying by though feels like the earth has sped up by like 20-40% honestly feels like it was still months away weeks ago. I look forward to watching you play DD2 as well, you are awesome man!
I am looking forward to playing as a Mage. I like to fight at ranged, but I also like having various tools to handle groups or provide some utility. It's not as fast as playing an Archer archetype, but I enjoy the slower and more deliberate playstyle. I plan to have my main Pawn to eventually become a Warrior, as it reminds me of how reckless my sister can be when we played together in the old co-op dungeon crawlers and beat em ups. Dragon's Dogma just gives me that old school vibe of having played couch games, even though it is a single player.
If it's like DD1, be prepared to play something like fighter first for an easier start, and the once you're used to the systems, restart and go for mage so you'll survive better. (because in Dd1, character progress was retained even when restarting)
it's weird, sometimes it reminds me of those old Lord of the Rings battlefield games which were like arcade games, and sometimes it reminds me of Lineage II or another old school hardcore MMO
@@IlIlllIIIllIIlIIlIITo your point, I plan to use a elf archer as my main character, a heavy tank as my main pawn and an old grey bearded mage (then sorcerer) hangin out in the back as a secondary pawn. 😉
@@dustingre8 The first game was a 4-man team. But only your main pawn could be custom. You could find other players' main pawn (and they could use yours) to fill out the team. So if I made a Gandalf type, you could use him, but you would have to find him through searching, randomly, or through the friend system.
I'm definetly going for Archer first. The Acrobatic Nature and just how smooth the animations are of this Vocation just sold it to me, i was choosing between Archer or Magick archer, but the Archer definetly stands out to me the Most, but definetly will play Both.
What do you think is the main difference between Archer and Magick Archer? Is Archer more offensive oriented and acrobatic as of Magick Archer has some support skills and elemental attacks? I am considering playing Archer myself so just curious how do they differ from each other. :)
@@Iwaans like you mentioned, i think the Archer is indeed more focussed on Precision to deal massive damage on weakspots. While the Magick archer has more of a supportive role but can still deal significant damage
I was actually thinking archer was starting and magic archer is the hybrid more end game archer. But I'm not sure that's how it was in one anyways and was my favorite class in that one.
@@shadowweaver1599 Yeah, but doesn't mean archer is a starting Vocation that it's weak, The 4 starters are viable throughout the entire game. The Advanced Vocations might take abit more time to get used to.
I'll be going for the warrior class first then try some magic classes on my subsequent playthroughs. I do hope Gut's berserker armor and sword are on this game.
To bad the game trash on xbox and pc ps5 is getting update first to fix issues crazy right oh and the game is filled with microtransactions bugged save files and more have fun :)😂😂😂😂
@@thezohan1093the micros are basically the developer winking at you lol every item in the list is EASILY accessible during regular gameplay. And no issues with frame rate or quality on PS5 which isn't surprising in the slightest that they did it better than Xbox and PC 🤷♂️. Am indeed having fun with it
Every time I watch a video on vocations it becomes so much more difficult to decide which one I wanna start out with. Initially it was Sorcerer. Then Fighter, then medieval fantasy Jedi. Now I think Magic Archer. Bloody hell.
Mystic spearhand looks much more inspired by Vergil of DMC rather than a jedi, which makes much more sense considering the two series share many more creative members than just Hideaki
21:24 The term you're looking for is skill floor. Skill cap, otherwise known as the skill ceiling, refers to the highest level of play. Skill floor meanwhile, is the minimum level of skill required, so it would require a high skill floor.
I'm going fighter to spearhand. Spearhand is a dream vocation for me, I knew I was going that route, as soon as I saw the Dragon's Dogma 2 reveal trailer.
I've always loved the Thief/Rogue class in every game. So for sure going that, but fighter is definitely close second. All these classes look incredible honestly.
Honestly, i loved playing as an Assassin in DD1, but i also like the changes to the classes being seperated. I gotta admit that i usually love hybrid kind of classes, but seeing them on their own is great, it gives each class more room to play with. It always felt so restrictive even tho you had both weapons with their own skill slots to use. But seeing the Archer in DD2 looks so fun and clean. Like i wanna play it as it is in DD2 instead of having it mixed with something else like with the Assassin in DD1 (imo Assassin in DD1 was the goat as an active fighting style class if you don't care about magic at all). But the Warfarer on the other hand lets you create your own combinations of classes, it's not exactly like the old hybrid classes from DD1, but that is great, because now you can for example choose 3 classes you wanna mix out of 4 archetypes. So you can easily use the new classes like the Spear and Trickster, have an fighter and mage that way and mix it with like an Archer or Magick Archer (if you want to be either more on the physical or magical side) and be a jack of all trades kind of class. And i guess that in the end the Warfarer is what the most players want to play as. Because why shouldn't you? Unless you don't specifically care about playing any other class outside of the one of the available you wanna play as (which is fine), there is no need to NOT play as the Warfarer. What i'm most likely going to do is start as an Archer and try to switch over to the Warfarer as soon as possible and mix the Trickster and Spearhand into my Archer (probably give the Spearhand and Trickster a try at some point if possible before that). Sadly i don't think that i'll be able to play at launch or even get the pre-order bonuses (unless you are able to buy them later on, like they say can/might happen). But i'll get to it as soon as possible and look forward to it, been waiting for this since it got announced and was hoping for it before that.
Thanks for the Video Wolf! Great content. Think im going to start off thief 100% then archer then Mystic spearhand, Magic Archer and then once I level up all those vacations going warfarer so i can use all 3 vocations of the thief/Mystic Spearhand/magic archer, and then have my main pawn a tank, and of course I totally agree with you!! having a class like the mystic spearhand who gives Jedi knight Vibes in a fantasy game just seems EPIC!
@@ceoChief09This is untrue. Denuvo does not prevent mods from working in a game. Monster Hunter: World Also launched with Denuvo and it had plenty of mods well before they removed it a year later. Heck even the Character Creator Demo on PC already has a few mods on Nexus.
warfarer looks so fun, i feel as if your able to make it work and adjust per enemy it’ll be an insanely good class. I just like the amount of flashy combos you can do. Start as thief tho for sure.
When they first showed off warfarer I thought "man what a gimmick" But the more of it I see, the cooler I think it'd be to have the right weapon for every situation rather than work around whatever shortcomings come with your currently carried ones.
I’ll start as a fighter and go into mystic spearhand, then maybe warfarer after that. I’m disappointed, but not surprised that we can only make one pawn. I’d love to have a consistent party instead of constantly swapping the other pawns out.
The Archer and Magic Archer look so much fun. Elden Ring is my all time favorite game but it didn't offer such active archery gameplay, in fact it is rare to see such archer gameplay in any videogame at all. Looking forward to playing Archer here.
I just hope the leveling isn't as convoluted as the first game needing you to have a spreadsheet for what vocation to be at what level range to get the optimal stat growth come your end game build.
My favorite thing about watching all the gameplay for the classes is that I want to try them all, they all look so fun in their own ways and I want to master all of them
With no announcement of a Monk class, my decision was made on announcement: Warrior! Arc of Might was great for dealing massive damage, but it wasn't as exciting as using the Ranger Penta Shot. From what we've seen, Warrior is way more exciting. Another thing I like is we get an actual mounting attack instead of just a hilt stab.
Just so you know, this is confirmed as not being all of the vocations. It's confirmed that there's more vocations from the first game and all new vocations that they haven't revealed
@@twinslive. I saw that Eurogamer interview where Itsuno said in the base game there are 10 Vocations, which we made public. But so many are saying that it was not correctly translated from japanese and it might mean there are more vocations in the game or more to come in the future. My copium is big with this one.
@@twinslive.This is not 'confirmed' at all and is completely untrue. They've shown all available vocations and they're listed on the official DD2 website as being the only vocations available in the game. Everything we've seen is everything we'll get. There's no hidden or secret vocations.
Mystic Spearhead...I'm the guy who always spins the broomstick or any long staff like object before uses it for it's purpose...This disability started as a little kid...Donatello, the Shaolin, Kilik, Darth Maul the list goes on...I'm ready to use this fascinating double bladed staff to save the world again...I know we are plenty who know this feeling
I really want to try something other than a big weapon, which I always tend to use on a first playthrough in action RPG's, but DD2 makes the warrior look SO GOOD
Was it ever confirmed if the stats are gained on current vocation on level up or do we now gain a floating pool of stats and when switching vocations they are realigned.
I played sorcerer in dd1 and loved it the most of all vocations. The trickster looks interesting... but man the magic in dragons dogma just hits different
I think in this game we should drop the advanced and hybrid vocation language because it brings the expectation that all classes are going to get one. Neither in promos or anything like that have they called anything a hybrid or an advanced vocation. Clearly they’ve went in a different direction with the vocations in this game so that people can get the idea that even the starter vocations will be viable.
Something I loved about warrior in dd1 was you could charge arc of might and face away from things like the evil eye, and then right as the charge is complete spin around and just completely end them in one strike
I want to play Magick Archer, so I probably start Mage as it has more augments I want to unlock early. Also as both Mage and Magick Archer use the Magick attribute for most of their attacks, I can focus my equipment on boosts to Magick and continue using it after the switch. But in the end, I will probably play most vocations to some degree to unlock all desired augments for my Magick Archer build.
Will start this game as a mage class but my pawn will be a warrior. Also on roleplay pov, both of them will be twins, so basicly sisters are gonna go into this world. :D
Only thing you left out that I noticed was the Trickster’s huge Pawn Damage Buff that causes them to take damage over time for the trade off of doing insane damage. If Warfarer can use that skill I foresee some nutty shit end game
I played as a magic archer in original DD and tbh the vocation was so OP and fun that didn't care at for the rest. But now I'm really skeptical. Fighter which is very basic looks super fun, sorcerers are looking dope and magi archer looks fun and OP as always. The spearhand is a class I want to test tbh and while im not a fan of spears as weapons, the magic that comes with it makes it even more fun. Warfarer is the class for most people like me but I think it will be acquired too late in the game. Damn man, so many choices
This helps a lot. Thank you. I am going to try fighter this time for a change. I usually am support (mage, ranged. heals). The fighter sounds like a fun change.
I’m a bit disappointed that the Magic Knight was replaced. I always liked that class and its replacement seems to play different than it did. It looks fun but wish they could just have both.
I feel like the trickster is going to be mych more valuable OUTSIDE of combat. I can imagine you can do some cool things with npcs and your illusions, walls (stealth), that dragon illusion.
Thanks for the video... My original idea was going for a sorcerer but now too interested in what can you do with Wayfarer and Trickster is looks like a fun class to play to watch enemies make fool of themselves. Probably go with archer/mage first to gain some stamina then switch to Trickster. For Wayfarer I might go with high stamina/high hp set up then settle on that class.
@DietersYT somthing I wanna see with Warfarer is how class skills work for it, since for Warfarer it's a weapon swap. So like... can a Warfarer block with a shield?
I'm 99% leaning towards Mystic Spearhand (since I was a MK main in DD1) but might play some Warrior too since it supposedly has a parry/counter in DD2 and I like those
I'm ready for DD2 binge-ing on your channel Wolf! so 10 vocations confiirmed? there are some missing hybrids (combinations)....but we shall see. I'm hyped!
i am very interested in trickster i just hope all his abilities aren’t tied to small monsters only, hopefully he makes a impact in bigger monster fights as well.
I’ve been loving the Theif so far when used correctly it’s overpowered tho I haven’t had any spoilers to the game so finding out the mixed vocations has me hyped as hell
The Warfarer seems to be close what I expected Dragon's Dogma 2 to have before any informations went out, so just a guess. My guess was that the new Arisen we play in the game would have some sort of vocation switch on the d-pad, similar to Dante's style switching. This obviously didn't came true since there are still the pawn commands on the d-pad as in the first game buuut may somewhat be present with the Warfarer. Let's hope so, then we can have an archer as Gunslinger on the left, a warrior with the bis sword as our Swordmaster on the right, the thief is the obvious Trickster on the up button and the fighter with the ability to parry will be our Royal Guard. And hey, why not? If From Software made it possible for players to make themself a little Vergil build then Capcom, the company who ows those characters, and Itsuno and his team, who develop the Devil May Cry games, can give us a little Dante build...
Note (before anyone else points it out): I still used the d-pad as the "switch" for the vocations although I wrote in the second paragraph that this is still used for pawn commands, that's because this might be a drawback for the relatively self-sufficiant Warfarer or at 12:52 we can see it switch to inventory items, so there's still more on that. Let's just say I think it will be used that way since this is knows as a good method for this, by this team in particular, so it's again just a guess.
I'll start with Fighter, I'll take some defensive options since it's been years since I played the first game and will probably be bad haha. I like the idea of taking a probably unpopular class (I bet most think it'll be boring) and seeing how far it can go. It can be difficult to pick a vocation, but it helps when I eventually plan to PLAY THEM ALL
I'm having a real hard time picking what I'm gonna start with, much less what I'm gonna transition into later lol. Archer looks like a lot of fun but I loved climbing the big enemies with daggers in the first game so I'm conflicted 😅
In RPG's I usually play a melee character -- most often a Paladin archetype... but seeing the movement of the archer, with the rolls and firing while jumping backwards... I dunno... I might go with an archer!
One of the things I disliked most about some classes (mainly warrior) is the inability to equip more than 3 skills. I hope they change this so we can equip more skills!
Definitely debating between Mage/Fighter and then Mystic Spearhand. Not sure how stat/skill progression works in this game compared to DD1, so that will definitely make a difference.
@@SonsOfDeForest So taking more levels in Mage vs fighter, for example, before you switch to Mystic Spearhand. Will that change how your combat plays out as the Spearhand? (Like having higher magic damage vs physical damage, etc). It's been a minute since I played DD1, but I feel like that was a factor in your character's build.
@@grey_windNah, the stats change with the class now so you dont need to play mage to have better stats for mys. archer for example. Every class has its own stats now that dont carry over to others. The only thing that carries over between classes will probably be passives like in DD1. So fighter passives in DD1 were for example more Health or Carry weight. But since you can switch classes however you like now without fucking up your stats, just play what you feel like in the moment.
I'm definitely going for the mystic spear hand. not before playing around with thief fighter and sorcerer tho. oh and that "sickle looking weapon" is a Khopesh i believe.
I almost always like being a caster. My main pawn will need to be a warrior to tank, agro, and keep critters off me whilst I work my magic. My hired pawns might include a thief and another warrior, I am replaying the original game and it's going quite well as I relearn how to play it. I guess we'll be busy with DD2 in about 5 days from now.

@@val7885really a step down from DD1 in playstyle variety then. I'm sad and not sure I'm hyped anymore
damm, if true that sucks ass lmao@@val7885
That’s an awesome idea. Throw in the magic spear hand for some fun movement abilities and you got a highly mobile badass.
Same for me!
@@dustingre8
The first game was a 4-man team.
Agreed 😎😎😎
So excited for mystic spearhand, looks epic!!
I had a feeling that would be your vocation

Every time I watch a video on vocations it becomes so much more difficult to decide which one I wanna start out with. Initially it was Sorcerer. Then Fighter, then medieval fantasy Jedi. Now I think Magic Archer. Bloody hell.
😂
Mystic spearhand looks much more inspired by Vergil of DMC rather than a jedi, which makes much more sense considering the two series share many more creative members than just Hideaki
21:24 The term you're looking for is skill floor. Skill cap, otherwise known as the skill ceiling, refers to the highest level of play. Skill floor meanwhile, is the minimum level of skill required, so it would require a high skill floor.
Nah, the quote refers to a skill ceiling. The class is probably still very good with low skill, but really shines at high skill.
I like the Spearhand but Wayfarer looks like my eventual vocation!! Ready to see your action on this channel!
I love how in depth the video is!
appreciate you watching / commenting!
Thanks for watching Malius. I like your plan.
I didn’t know you can have multiple classes
@@WatsaKing2aGod Yeah you sure can. It’s called the wayfarer vocation class where u can essentially be 3 classes in one. It’s awesome!
Great video, looking forward to experimenting now, still a lot to learn. Never played DD1 so it's all a bit overwhelming at the moment.
Thanks. Godspeed
I made a Elf character and i'm planning on going Archer all the way 😎 so stoked!

Yeeesss DD2 videos let's goooo!
let's get it!!
As a Glaive user in Monster Hunter, i’m thinkin the Duospear looks mighty enticing.
warfarer looks so fun, i feel as if your able to make it work and adjust per enemy it’ll be an insanely good class. I just like the amount of flashy combos you can do. Start as thief tho for sure.
These videos are making days of wait feel even slower.
my bad
When they first showed off warfarer I thought "man what a gimmick"
But the more of it I see, the cooler I think it'd be to have the right weapon for every situation rather than work around whatever shortcomings come with your currently carried ones.
I dont think its unique enough to replace Mystic Knight, which is what the class is doing so its pretty disappointing imo
@@Sev017 Trickster is way more unique than Mystic knight ever was.
@@Sev017Warfarer is not replacing mystic knight
One of the best vocations in 1 was the ranger, and I loved using a biiig longbow...of course that is one they remove.
I’ll start as a fighter and go into mystic spearhand, then maybe warfarer after that. I’m disappointed, but not surprised that we can only make one pawn. I’d love to have a consistent party instead of constantly swapping the other pawns out.
Nice timing, was just playing with the character creator...
fun stuff right
That's the beauty of having a class for your character while trying different classes with different pawn.
1. Sorcerer
2. Mystical Spearhand
3. Good old Archer
The Archer and Magic Archer look so much fun. Elden Ring is my all time favorite game but it didn't offer such active archery gameplay, in fact it is rare to see such archer gameplay in any videogame at all. Looking forward to playing Archer here.
definitely going thief and becoming sung jin woo
I just hope the leveling isn't as convoluted as the first game needing you to have a spreadsheet for what vocation to be at what level range to get the optimal stat growth come your end game build.
I’ll either be a fighter maybe a warrior or mystic spear. I’m so damn pumped I can’t wait

@@twinslive.Source?
@@twinslive. I saw that Eurogamer interview where Itsuno said in the base game there are 10 Vocations, which we made public. @@twinslive.This is not 'confirmed' at all and is completely untrue.
They've shown all available vocations and they're listed on the official DD2 website as being the only vocations available in the game.
Everything we've seen is everything we'll get. There's no hidden or secret vocations.
@@synthrogue6856 doubt but ok. Especially since we didn't get advanced green and yellow.

I really want to try something other than a big weapon, which I always tend to use on a first playthrough in action RPG's, but DD2 makes the warrior look SO GOOD
I've never been so conflicted on which vocation I want to play first...they all look amazing!!
Cant wait to be a buffcat that is trying to master every class
I hope this game has a photo mode..those backwards bow shots are going to look insane
Sorry but during the advance warrior-THE TROLL DROPKICKING YOU IS FREAKING SICK HOLY CRAP
Was it ever confirmed if the stats are gained on current vocation on level up or do we now gain a floating pool of stats and when switching vocations they are realigned.
Whenever I’m not sure what type of character to play I can always count on Wolfheart to make the decision even harder for me
I played sorcerer in dd1 and loved it the most of all vocations.
I'm excited for the thief!! Hopefully it's quick, like you're saying, and he's like the dual blades in Monster Hunter
It would be so sick if they included vocations from Dragons Dogma online such as "Alchemist" and "High Scepter"
1:02 VO: “don’t play as an archer and expect to pull out a sword.”
VIDEO: **plays as an archer immediately pulls out a sword**
that was the warfarer class that has access to every signle weapon, which he mentioned at the end of the video. did you even watch it to the end? :D
I usually am support (mage, ranged. heals). The fighter sounds like a fun change.
awesome Grumpy
Basically just showed me a battlemage class. I'm definitely going for that first.
The mystic spearhand was made for me! Magic , mele ,speed with a little finesse! Lets get it!😊
Does the theif vocation not have a advanced class?
Trickster: the ultimate tank role with little defense
I’m a bit disappointed that the Magic Knight was replaced. I always liked that class and its replacement seems to play different than it did. It looks fun but wish they could just have both.
I feel like the trickster is going to be mych more valuable OUTSIDE of combat. I can imagine you can do some cool things with npcs and your illusions, walls (stealth), that dragon illusion.
My initial plan is a fighter warrior, but I'll try the four basic vocations and get a feel for them before I start my proper playthrough.
It’s WARfarer
Trips me up too
@DietersYT somthing I wanna see with Warfarer is how class skills work for it, since for Warfarer it's a weapon swap.
So like... can a Warfarer block with a shield?
@@itsCaptainEli I think you replied to the wrong person
I'm 99% leaning towards Mystic Spearhand (since I was a MK main in DD1) but might play some Warrior too since it supposedly has a parry/counter in DD2 and I like those
I'm ready for DD2 binge-ing on your channel Wolf! so 10 vocations confiirmed? there are some missing hybrids (combinations)....but we shall see. I'm hyped!
I'm a dyed-in-the-wool sword and board but that archer class looks awesome.
i am very interested in trickster i just hope all his abilities aren’t tied to small monsters only, hopefully he makes a impact in bigger monster fights as well.
I would be whichever class makes the most racks
It can be difficult to pick a vocation, but it helps when I eventually plan to PLAY THEM ALL
That sickle like sword is called a kopesh and actual was use by the ancient Egyptian royal guards
Every class look so fun to play , I wish this game had co-op mode with friends ! Oh man
I'm having a real hard time picking what I'm gonna start with, much less what I'm gonna transition into later lol.
Archer looks like a lot of fun but I loved climbing the big enemies with daggers in the first game so I'm conflicted 😅
Much appreciated brother great info.
Thanks
In RPG's I usually play a melee character -- most often a Paladin archetype... but seeing the movement of the archer, with the rolls and firing while jumping backwards... I dunno... I might go with an archer!
100% I am going to be a Mystic Spearhand. Three seconds into that gameplay trailer I was sold.
The trickster got me preordering this, making enemies to run off a cliff!! Sold lol
One of the things I disliked most about some classes (mainly warrior) is the inability to equip more than 3 skills. I hope they change this so we can equip more skills!
I believe a tank pawn with parry or block is gonna be very important in this game, just a feeling
Definitely debating between Mage/Fighter and then Mystic Spearhand.
Not sure how stat/skill progression works in this game compared to DD1, so that will definitely make a difference.
Stats are based on current vocations and realocate when you swap
Beautifully simple. Good. Thanks!@@zastin3811
I'm definitely going for the mystic spear hand. not before playing around with thief fighter and sorcerer tho. oh and that "sickle looking weapon" is a Khopesh i believe.
15:29 I know you said sedative, but my tired brain heard laxative.
I almost always like being a caster. My main pawn will need to be a warrior to tank, agro, and keep critters off me whilst I work my magic. My hired pawns might include a thief and another warrior,
I am replaying the original game and it's going quite well as I relearn how to play it. I guess we'll be busy with DD2 in about 5 days from now.
I just hope they make enemy spawns dynamic so we dont kill the same goblins over and over at the same locations
