Yes, pretty simple. Drain off 95% of the grease, but leave all the drippings/crumbs, add whole or 2% milk. Add salt and pepper to taste. Large cracked pepper it best. Key is not to just dump the flour in, you have to mix it in a cup with water until it is smooth... mine was a little too thick in the video.... then just follow what I did in the video. Perfect, smooth, simple gravy.
What a gravy you make a roux of which Cooks the flour what is the grease flavors the flower and takes out the raw taste. He's making Yankee gravy better known as white sauce
LOL actually I am pretty much a teetotaler, but being from Texas and only about an hour from Shiner, TX I do enjoy an occasional Shiner Bock paired with good TexMex food and finished off with a nice Cuban Cohiba.
@@bardstine you commenting with your personal account on a mean comment that I made while I myself was drunk is actually precious. I apologize for projecting myself onto you. Food looks pretty good too.

Im subbing because im a Victorian born!! I still live nearby and go to Victoria often! I will try my steak that way although i do make a mean cfs myself! But my gravy needs no improvement-i also make a cream gravy and about a half gallon of whole milk aswell but a few minor differences! Thanks for the video!! 🥰
Old 30 plus year old electric skillet. Not much teflon left on it if there was any on it to begin with. Also you can use a "plastic" spatula, the key is the slots for the gravy to flow through.
The keyword here is "Homemade" which is the best. Especially using this method and recipe. And yes, it will be messy although it is worth it, in the final outcome...
So much for gluten free.... Using Wondra just defeats the purpose of using the Casava flour. Making a white roux for the gravy is much better than this "method".
Looks like a great method for the steak, anyway. Pressing the flour mixture into the steak. But where I'm now confused is if you are gluten intolerant, you use cassava flour in the coating, yet use Wonder flour which is WHEAT for the gravy; how is that gluten free? Just curious.
My grandmother and mother would take a small thin plate and gently pound the flour into the meat. It not only tenderized it, it kept the breading from falling off.
Best “GLUTEN FREE” Chx fried steak maybe…. Not best overall though brotha.. no real flour no real gravy/breading.. what woukd sunshine say about cassava starch?
I was reluctant when some of my family had to go gluten free but I can't tell the difference between regular wheat flour and cassava flour. And the late Sunshine would have approved. Still looking for a non-wheat flour that makes a good gravy. Tried using cassava flour for the gravy once... like eating brick mortar... not good... still experimenting.
@@margaretstokely9016 NO!!! Wondra in the blue tube is NOT gluten free. I have yet to find a good non-wheat/gluten based flour for making gravy. So I make the CFS gluten free with cassava flour but the gravy is made with gluten... my family just does not eat the gravy.
I'm from texas, so obviously I know what I'm talking about. First off let's start with some make believe flour, yada, yada, yada..... Oh my God, could you have anymore texas bigotry? "If the power goes out, just wait for her black smile!!!!!
What kind of gravy is this??!!!! All ya gotta do is add flour to the pan and then milk and whisk until it's thickening...

@@kristanielson8047 Another video for another day. I did good just getting the CFS cooked and on the plate. First cooking video… and it shows. LOL
I'm just saying it's real. And it looks delicious!
Sounds yummy...is your electric frypan teflon? Does the metal "fish" spatula damage the surface? Is the WONDRA gluten free? Thanx(David)

I am assuming cricket flower is gluten free:)
Casava flower is, the Wondera for the gravy is not.
I've been using wondra for years
Love the video! I always tell everyone "I measure until my ancestors tell me to stop!" I haven't measured anything in years!
I’m more concerned about the voices you hear in your head..
That is exactly what I was thinking... nothing another CFS won't fix.

It's not. The gluten-free family members don't usually eat the gravy.
Still looking for a non-wheat flour for the gravy. Tried using cassava flour once... was not good... had the consistency of brick mortar.
