i pulled the picker home at midnight that night that is the best time no bicyclist or vehicles i stop to put gas in the truck and a county police pulled in and was like what in the hell do you have lol
🤣 at least you didn’t get a ticket!!
Yeah another one saved from the scrapyard
I couldn’t resist 🤣
Turn the radio up and dont look back.
That is a great strategy 🤣
MM made some darn good equipment. It’s great to see you rescuing this old equipment Ross. Thanks for all your great videos
Thanks Scott! I can’t stand to see stuff like this get scrapped
Goodluck on that new toy,you were very lucky that the traffic was as light as it was, glad you got home safe with no problems
Thanks Doug ! I know, I was amazed at how little traffic there was at that time of day
For many years we used an AC 66 pull behind combine. WE farmed some land about 4 miles from home and used to pull it with the tractor down the road. The old Allis combines were left handed. So, the tractor would be clear off the road on the right side and the combine would take up even the left side of the road. We used to have the drawbar shoved as far as it would go to the right and even had a special hitch made that would move the tongue even further to the right, but we still had to stop traffic at the far end of the road in many spots to allow the combine to get through. I just sold that combine to my buddy Joe last year. It had been sitting out and I didn't like that.
This is an adventure I hope to never have again 🤣🤣🤣
Nice combine. You can stop sharing your sadness anytime the last week has been hell for breakdowns and struggles .have a great day
🤣 thanks Dave!
That dewalt tire inflator works well! Lots of farm animal sounds today in the video. 😆 Glad you made it home safely Ross!!
And I agree regarding bicyclists.
I agree 100% regarding the bicyclists too
Thanks Donald! 🤣
I can't wait to see Mighty Whitey running that combine. Go big or go home. 😅
🤣🤣🤣
We had a Alis Chalmers pull type I would say about the same vintage as yours you have here. I'm sure it was from sometime in the fifties. I was born in 1956.and as a young fellow I can remember it being used to do oats and wheat. My father used a super M to pull it until we bought a brand new International 460 gas and it became the main tractor power steering TA Live pto and hydraulics much easier to handle. I enjoy it when you drag home old iron really gets my memories coming back to me of some pretty happy peaceful times in my life. I wish we could go back to those simpler times. The world we live in today is so screwed up in some areas I feel sad for my own children and grandchildren as to how the world.will be when they reach my age. Thanks for sharing Ross
Thanks Brian!!!!
Prairie Gold will look good along side Oliver green .
It’s something different that’s for sure!
That was fun Ross, only way that could have been more funner is if it would of been done on a dark moonless night. Which brings me to ask does the law ever patrol your neck of the woods? I've seen you do some things on the roads since I've been watching and either you're the luckiest pup I know or...your county is like the wild, wild west.
I think the law has just learned to look the other way because they know they don’t have enough paper in their little book to write me as many tickets as I deserve 🤣
Another good one. That was a long and slow drive pulling that behind you. Looks like something fun to work on. Enjoy, enjoy.
Thanks Keith!
Good to see it go to a good home👍
Thanks Allan!
That's a cool old combine. You have to use that a little this fall just for fun. Your little DeWalt compressor sounds like the vacuum motor in the dairy barn haha. Powerful
I’m gonna try to use it on some of my cousins wheat!
Looking forward to seeing it in the field. I was stressed just watching, lol. Glad you made it home without incident. I wouldn't want to have to move that very often. Just imagine what it was like before the roads were widened, wow. See you in the next one.
🤣 Thanks Jonathan!
Nice piece of farming history there. Glad you were able to get it and save it. Too many pull type implements like that have been crushed over the years.
Thanks! I agree, too much good stuff has been scrapped
Glad nothing was damaged👍👍
Thanks Tom!
Nice combine. Especially one without the canvas!
I’m glad! I really didn’t wanna have to fool with keeping canvas nice
Ross the Oliver man …..we’re living on the edge . Hey , is that pig n the back seat? 😂Great road trip .😂Putting the sleeve on was pretty funny from where I was setting .Great video .God Bless
🤣 It’s hard to say what’s in the backseat. There might be a pig in there who knows 🤣🤣🤣
Ross nothing like white-knuckling drive home with the combine. I agree it would be definitely most interesting if you would have had the auger on there as well 🤣🤣🤣🤣 thanks Michael
Thanks Michael 🤣🤣🤣
Will be nice to see that thing working 😃
I can’t wait to try it!!
This is great that you got the combine home
Thanks Eli!
I think you need to get some large stickers of the M&am candy guys to stick on it!😂
No? Well then just do whatcha want then!!!
🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha. I came to the same conclusion when I bought a New Idea picker. I stuck magnet flashing lights on it and drove five hours home. I couldn't go any faster than if I had it behind the 4020. If I end up buying another picker with a sheller on it, I'll trailer the 4020 to where the picker is and pull it home with the tractor. At least I could swing the tractor drawbar all the way to the left and narrow it up that way. Nice new treasure. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to buy my neighbors 66 All Crop. They bought it new.
Ross another rare combine find. 👍
Thanks!!
I had the same feeling hauling a new holland haybine home behind my truck. Had to be in driving in the opposite lane, and the tires were still kissing the white line. 😂
It’s nerve-racking for sure 🤣
Brings back memories of when I dug a old pull type versatile out of the Bush of a old abandoned farm yard of a quarter section my dad bought back in the late 80s only thing it had its own motor and hydraulic was ran off the tractor remember got it running one summer and cut a bit of oats for a day lol until I plugged it in the heat repainted it and stuck it in the shed never used it again other than for taking it to a local vintage farm equipment Show
Cool! Thanks for watching Troy!
nice combine
Thanks Peter!
Adventures on the highway; I did not like pulling machinery on the public roads. All our land was accessible from the farm, so going on the public roads didn't happen often. Interesting combine, thanks for the quick tour of this one.
Thanks! I agree I don’t much like hauling stuff on the highway.
I always like the rain when I’m towing a questionable item home. I always figure it keeps the heat down on the tires and bearings.
I really think it does help. Thanks Duane!
Back in the days before disc mowers when everyone used haybines an offset hitch on the truck was a mandatory accessory. Because as I remember the trip back from an auction across the old Madison Bridge with a 9' haybine was kinda sketchy.
Yeah, I don’t think I’d want to do that either 🤣
Oh geez, I’m glad I’m not the only one. 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Jess had a mm picker picked our corn dad had a Oliver 50 baler and we baled the hay thanks for sharing
Cool! Thanks for watching Robert!
I pulled a combine home 50 miles behind a 59 D17 took me 5 hrs and had to go right through the middle of Mt Vernon Illinois, took up the whole road
It’s a very stressful thing to do for sure!
Glad you made it home without much trouble. You would have gotten a wet rear if you would have taken a tractor. That probably would have also gotten more views..lol
😂 no, definitely not.😂
🤣🤣🤣 i’m happy with the amount of views I got sitting in the dry
Ross that truck of his went cheap. I would’ve never guessed you would take the combine home. Hopefully we can see it in action
Thanks Shawn! I may try to find a wheat field close by and try it out
My grandpa had a Oliver combine like that. MM tractors also
Cool!! Thanks Dale!
You know what this means now you’re going to have to get a MM450 to add to your Fiat collection and to power your combine 😊
That’s a great idea! I never thought of a yellow Fiat! Now you’ve got me thinking…..
I remember the fun of trailering a ih self propelled wind rower on a wheeled dolly behind my super duty it was interesting driving 30 miles of state hyways with warning lights on the roof in wisconsin
Yeah, I don’t think I’d care to try that 🤣
I'm glad you made it home ok with the combine, i look forward to seeing it in action! I have one of those Dewalt inflators also and have had real good luck with it, and it's way better than one of those old compressors that plugged into your cigarette lighter.
I think it’s super handy! And I’m impressed with how long it runs on the battery
That was stressful just watching!! My dad had a 6 foot Oliver pull type.
It really was 🤣 Thanks John!
Nice you got the combine, just to bad they ran you up and got cought doing it, sad people!!
Thanks Bryan!
Awesome project 👍
Thanks Mike!
Can't wait to see it in action!!
Thanks Derek!
pull type combine is our most precious resource, our action plan on global pull type combines will cement America's role of leadership
I wish I had whatever you’re smoking. It seems like good stuff.
@@rosstheoliverman i got it from our "vp" of oliver sales dept 🤣🤣🤣
@@user-rn3rd9gc8x it’s good stuff 🤣🤣🤣
You made it ! Well done Ross the Oliver dude 👍🏻
Thanks Scott!
Get it going and being it to the wheat field and run it next to the 8900
I had that exact same thought. I just need to see how far away your wheat field is from my house.
Nice job Ross
Thanks Scott!
Hmmm.... You shoulda bought his truck too🤣🤣 at least it wasnt lefthanded like the JD 30 I scrapped out that was interesting but it was only 3 miles away. I pulled one of my Gehl 800 forage harvesters down a 4 lane, that was fun👍
I thought about buying that truck! I would’ve rather had a diesel though. Thanks Adam 🤣
Neighbor years ago had a MM pull type combine with a motor on it to power it. Using the throttle on the tractor worked great for variable speed. He called it his “Minnie Make Water “ machine. Every time he got going good it would rain.
🤣 those old combine engines were cantankerous definitely. I’ve heard a lot of old-timer stories about how they made it more difficult
Looks like it would have been more funner if it had the unload auger off to the left side!
That would’ve just made it more better 🤣
You just reminded me why my dad always took me to auctions so I could watch the passenger side of what he was dragging home lol should of took farm dog 🐕 . Stop buying delwalt power toys I got a new jig saw the other day Amazon got me again was on sale , another farm trophy 🏆 that's what gramps called them
🤣 thanks Earl!
I will be nice to see that operate.
I can’t wait! Thanks Michael!
Now you can continue your journey with living history.,, may need a good dose of "cough syrup" once you stir up the wasps that have found an ideal nesting site LOL.
🤣🤣🤣
Hi Ross Yeah looks like you got a nice old Combine .And Yeah I know how tight or rough pulling a 9' hay bine or corn picker down the road is😢😢😢 sweating all the way home 😂 I neaver pulled a big disc or bush hog though lol.Talk to you latter Ross 7:13
It’s an adventure for sure! 🤣
Looks like a Feller had a great time haulin the death contraption 9000 40 million 60 forty miles down a half lane road in the rain. What could have went wrong. See
🤣🤣🤣
best ride home ever LOL
🤣🤣🤣
WOW balls of steel, but it made a great video
🤣 it was definitely nerve-racking! Thanks Alan!
Not bad for an off brand Oliver
Back in this era they were still totally separate. It wasn’t until the 60’s they became bunk mates
Tires have psi inflation numbers on them . What fun would that be ?
🤣🤣🤣
I like it I like I will find
It bed time I will do better
Thanks Donald!
Where did you find the dewalt inflator and how much did it cost. I haven't seen any in my neck of the woods yet. Don't want to buy a milwaukee if everything else I have is dewalt already.
I bought this one at a local hardware store, but I added it to my Amazon store so you can check it out there
I call bicycle riders the spandex mafia. Cause all sorts of hate and discontent.
🤣🤣🤣
Ross now you have a tough choice! Do I use Oliver or minnie! Do you have a place under a roof to store minnie?
I need to get my buildings done and I’ll try to find a place to put everything
what model dewalt is that?? seems like it works pretty good
I’ll have to check the model number, I added it to my Amazon store. It’s sweet!
You should have retrieved it with a tractor
Agree. I think it might have been a little easier.
Now that you’ve got it home better go get a couple snorts of that cough medicine and settle your nerves 😂😂
I could’ve use some after that ride 🤣
@@rosstheoliverman i completely understand, idk how you can drive a bus either 😅 I drive a semi but don’t have the patience for a bus
Man you get nerved up to easy. I've pulled way bigger stupid $h:t down the road with my truck. Keep on trucking and when in doubt, throttle out!!!
🤣🤣🤣 yes, I’m not a fan of moving stuff on the road. I’m not sure if I have enough insurance to cover other peoples stupidity nowadays
you may need a cigarette after that lol
I don't know why, but your E/Gmail address doesn't work.
I’m not sure? I’ve been getting emails from people. It’s rosstheoliverman@outlook.com
What were the $&@?! cyclist guys doing out there in the rain? How were they not aware Ross was dragging home an old combine? Rude.
🤣🤣🤣 some people never learn that road is a high traffic area for rusty iron
@@rosstheoliverman 🤣
👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Paul!
I know how you feel pulling that home. March Consignment Sale 1998. Bought a 24T baler and a 479 haybine. Got the baler home fine. Momma went back with me to get the haybine. It got dark, really dark. Mailboxes died 😮. Momma shrieked. She was not happy 😠. Haybine reqired minimal repair, but we cut and baled 3500 bales that summer. 😊. 👍🇺🇲🚜🛻😉
That’s certainly an adventure 😮Thanks Jack!
