I like seeing the old equipment working not sitting and rotting away
I agree!! It’s so much fun to play with
That is awesome 👌 👏
Awesome job.
In my opinion, the old antique equipment is still far superior to today's stuff, with the exception of comfort and AC. This is how farming was and how it made today's farming possible. Great video as always, cheers :)
You definitely feel more of a connection to the job then you do with the modern stuff. All the little sounds and different things you hear that you can’t from inside a cab.
My favorite Oliver content. Ross is a fun guy to listen to.
🤣 Thanks!!
Awesome seeing the MM perform so well .She cuts and cleans just as she is suppose to .Congratulations Ross, mighty fine job . God Bless
Thank you Mark!
That was just awesome. What a great feeling to bring a piece of machinery back to life again. Congrats Ross
Thanks Hugh! It was cool seeing it work for sure!
That was the best 42 minutes of a tractor’s work in years for me,,, thanks BigAl California
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks Al!
That pull type combine is doing an excellent job. Could you imagine trying to do 100 acres or more with that setup like back in the old days? They would be some hot days I bet. Just like bailing hay or straw. Better watch out for the women passing by. They don't see too many studs these days with a true man setup like that. Lol thanks for sharing.
That’s what I was thinking. It was a lot of fun for the amount I did. If I had to do a whole field, probably would get sick of it. That’s part of why I had to stop, the women clinging all over me I just couldn’t run the controls anymore. 🤣🤣🤣
Nice conditions! Crop standing well, and a perfect day! When I was growing up we had a JD 30 combine. It was nearly as old as me, because my grandpa bought it new, and they gave me a toy JD combine! They traded a JD 12A for it. Like any farm kid, I was driving tractors at a young age. The local AC dealer had a Allis 40 combine, and my dad wanted to buy it and put me on it with our Allis C. But he couldn't get a deal done on it, so it never happened. Boy we would have been BTOs with those! 😂. I did run the "dirty 30" at times. It was on a WD45. Just after HS I bought an old round back JD 42 combine at an auction. It was rough at the cutter bar and had beat itself 1/2 death with all of the sheet metal busted and cobbled up. After i fixed all of that, and had put in new cylinder bars, it was a decent combine. Then the 30 sat, and I got the job of doing all of the combining. I used my IH 1026 hydro, and it was a nice setup. Then I bought a MF 510, and never used a pull type again.
Awesome memories!!
Worthwhile progress!!! Not a bad sample for an old machine. You even got a chance to wear your old timer straw hat.
It was a lot of fun!!!
I was 9years in 1954dad had a Case DC and a f 2five f
Oot cut combine he bought a Massey 50 clipper seven foot cut he drove the E3 co-op the Massey hed was on the opposite side so he would turn out when we met this brought back memories thanks for sharing
Very cool! Thanks for watching!!!
HI ROSS those old clipper combines now are old school I didn't even see any of them used around here when I was growing up I just don't seem around here where IM at U see them in the fields at other places working I do remember the grain wagons and old corn pickers 😊😊😊😊🎉🎉 OMG 8 6 2O23
Thanks Clarence!
I don't see you stopping and checking to see how much if any, wheat you are leaving on the ground. You then could make the required adjustments.
I did stop several times, that just got cut out of the video. I didn’t really need to make any adjustments because it wasn’t leaving much on the ground at all.
@@rosstheoliverman Good to hear. It would have been nice to see that the MM wasn't costing your cousin any money. Also nice to see that old technology might be an economical option for people who aren't farming thousands of acres.
Thanks for sharing! Nice to see an old pull type Minny-Mo running. My grandad had one powered with a Wisconsin air cooled engine when I was little kid. We combined 20-30 acres of oats every year with it.
That’s the way the one my great grandpa had was set up. It had a Wisconsin motor on the tongue.
The “behind the scenes” footage your cousin posted was epically hilarious. You clearly work very hard to be acceptable to your audience, good on you. The “Deere” cousin comment made me fall out of the chair. As always, great work!
🤣🤣🤣 Thanks! I try to be a good boy on my channel 🤣
Is your cousin on UA-cam or another platform?
What comment ??
@@dougschmitii6165 he’s on UA-cam as Oliver770farmboy
Fun, but would it be as much fun if it were 100 in the shade. You need a tractor umbrella to make it really authentic.
I know, I was thinking about that. I have some original umbrellas but I’m not sure they’re in good enough shape to survive the trip.
@@rosstheoliverman I bet that one of those large umbrellas that are sold at wally world would work or even a real one at RK
i enjoyed this very much.i had a 1953 oliver 88 a few yr.ago.larry
Thanks Larry! The 88 was a great tractor for this job
My Dad had a bagger ,i believe it was a minny . My job was to operate the bagger station . As each bag was filled I switched the down spout tied the bag and slipped it down the bag chute . I had to hold them until we came to a place in the field where I had dropped others . After we were finished combining we drove around with a wagon picking up bags and they had better be tied tight . Then took them home and dumped the bags as we needed them for the next day . A bit of responsibility for a young school kid .I can remember days when it ran well others when it acted out continuously . I hated that combine . All that over sixty years ago .I wish I could go around those fields again with my Dad . You reminded me of those days Good times !
Cool! Thanks for watching!!!
My grandpa had olivers 60 70 two 77s 88 that he had a bucket on and then two big diesel tractors the 1800 and 1855.
Good job, I enjoy watching those old machines at work.
Thanks!
You forgot your GPS guidance and your monitors lol
🤣🤣🤣
Brought back fond.memories of when I was growing up and my dad bought a Allis Chalmers pull type combine ,that we used on our farm to harvest.oats with
I remember it had a 7 foot head.and I pulled it with a John Deere.60 that had live power take-off.
Thank you for reminding me of how much I miss those days
im actually blown away by how clean the grain is. ive seen dirtier stuff in new combines
I was too. It’s amazing that it did so well with almost no adjusting.
crop farmer my area mixes wheat & rye seed more test weight the bedding is free first come first serve there's every make model tractor baler out there those days
Cool! Thanks for watching!!
What amazes me is the thought never crossed the designers minds to have a swinging draw bar
I know, they should have had that as some type of feature like square balers do. But back then I guess people weren’t traveling miles and miles on the road.
@@rosstheoliverman my dad’s grandpa used to drive his ford 4000 and ford pull type combine 5 miles up the road just to harvest a couple acres
@@rosstheoliverman The Oliver 18's had a movable hitch for going down the road - Also they had a gearbox that disengaged the combine for unloading.
theres that dog hitch hiking again? you should make him a buddy seat? seems like he likes you. my neighbor has 2 old oliver pull type combines in the shed he usually does oats with 1 and rye with the other
Yeah he follows right along! That’s cool!!!
Where's your PTO shield, Man????
Long gone 😭
I’ve got a 1949 88 and it’s too fast to bale hay in first gear.
I think if the crop was much thicker it definitely would’ve needed to be slower. Thanks Paul!
Your best video ever since I subscribed. I started with a JD pull 25 behind an A (riding only with Uncle) and graduated to learn on a three row 45, then to the 4 row 55, them to a 95, then to a 6600, then a 7700 and ended with a 7720. This was great to watch. I did not need the Blue Grass music to enjoy it, just the music of the machine.
Thanks! I try not to use the music too often but sometimes in the field the footage is too cool to just throw away so I speed it up and put the music in to try to break up the monotony.
Very happy for you! Just like a kid with a new toy. The 88 was a champ also. Thank you! Be safe.
Thank you!! It was a fun day indeed!!
Even if you had the sprockets to run this in beans I feel like you'd have to pick a tractor that either had a Power Booster, Hydra-Power or Hydraul-Shift. I feel like first in the 88 would be almost too fast to feed beans through it. They dont tend to thresh as easy as wheat
That’s probably true!!
This is cool. Thanks for doing this. I have been watching Chris Lousey channel for a few years and he was talking about your channel on one of his videos. I thought I check it out and how cool your channel is so interesting and fun. Subscribed immediately. Looking forward to watching more!
Thank you! I try to make stuff that I could watch myself
Who says you can,t farm with iron. brings back memiries of my self in 1966 . I harvedet 20 acres with a john deere 12 apull type machine 6 ft cut at a time
Cool! They definitely can still get the job done!!
That was cool! I need to get a canvas made for my #15 so I can keep up.
The canvas is the worst part of the earlier combines. this is nice because you can just hook to it and go. I’d like to find a model 18 but they’re getting few and far between in this area.
@@rosstheoliverman yep.
DUDE!! That was sweet bitchin!! I've got a grainmaster I hope to get out some day. Great job, keep it up.
Thanks! It was a super fun day for sure.
I watched this video again this morning and I have to say, this is one of the most entertaining videos you have made. I really like that Harvestor and I cannot wait to see how nice it gets when you work on it some more.
That’s an awesome combine !!! I love all ur videos. Small farmer here using a 4400 JD combine
Thanks Mark!!
I remember in the 60,s & 70,s we used a MM pull type i beleive it was a G4 it had it's own 4 cylinder motor. Used it for many years
Cool! My great grandpa‘s was the older style that still had the canvas
This IS a lot of fun! I was just old enough to remember when my uncles were finishing with their Ford pull-type and moved to a Massey 300 SP. I'll say it again, enjoyed the heck out of this Ross. Thanks to you both for making this happen.
Thank you! I couldn’t wait to play with this thing
Farm sale in Delphi Indiana on
July 22 at 10;30am. On all the old farm equipment.
Cool!
I love watching older equipment working glad I found your channel
Thanks David!
Looks like so much fun being a old farm boy city kids don't realize what they are missing the joys of farm life
Absolutely! There’s nothing like farm life
Very cool to see the old girl working and without any problems. Grain even looks pretty clean
It does a great job!
I couldn’t wait to see this combine working in the wheat field.I don’t farm but old machines get my attention. I love them.
I think it’s fun playing with the old machinery like this!!! Pretty neat mechanical marvels
hey ross found your channel like it so far I grew up on olivers I appreciate your passion for the old stuff that pull type combine brought back some old memories
Thank you!!!
Goodness I'd like to watch a video I didn't have to watch a half hour or bs before anything happens
That’s the great thing-you don’t have to! It’s the magic of fast forward ❤️
Love it. Would be a great rig for the small self producer.
Thanks! It sure would be if you had just a little bit to do!!
your speed over ground, should make the reel look like is walking thru the wheat, and not so slow as to have the reel beat the grain from the heads before it gets into the combine, so it all depends on the rpm. and gear you use, our old combine, had a Wisconsin air cooled motor to power it, and a weed seed bagger on the back, I remember dad, stopping on to dump the bag, off the end of the field, and having to grease all those fitting, and oil the chains every day, before it got used, usually done in the cooler mornings, as you would have to wait until the dew was gone, and the grain was dry
Cool! Thanks for watching!!
I really needed this video to get my mind off this week. It was a amazing purchase you got there!
Thanks for watching Matthew!
My Grandpa used to cut wheat with an A John Deere and a Baldwin pull type combine powered by a Ford Model A engine
So cool!
that small harvester against that big field its very inefficient
It would take awhile if it was the only thing you were using
@@rosstheoliverman i like the harvester, we had one on our farm fore many, many years and it did a raelly good job
Love seeing the old equipment being used love watching your shows great job
Thanks Steven!
If you ever get tired of messing with MM combine I'd entertain a conversation about it. I'm not far away in Lebanon
Send me an email. Almost everything has a price…
I used those pull behind when I was a boy. Pulled it with a Super88 diesel wide front, with a loader.
Cool! Thanks for watching!
Almost makes me want a combine for the collection!! Almost. Great video Ross!
🤣🤣🤣 it’ll really keep nagging at you until you have to have it 🤣🤣🤣
Fantastic video Ross. I grew up in the era of your combine.
Thanks!!
per another channel, 'If you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong'
I agree 100%. Life’s too short to not have fun.
It's a 20bu grain tank on that combine with high-speed auger unloader, love the video
I looked in the book and I couldn’t believe that it was that small! Pretty amazing. What makes it the high-speed unloader?
@@rosstheoliverman I don't know , that just what the ad that I have says, I'm thinking it's just because older models dumped like a gravity wagon which required you to use a low side barge wagon and shovel it in to the corners
I hope in this off season you have looked at this and thought about making it MORE BETTER!!! Wheat prices are supposed to be on the rise in the coming year. You should do some more painting and take this to the fair next year.
I am going to improve it, but I don’t know about the fair. It’s just too stressful to pull down the road. It takes up the whole thing.
@@rosstheoliverman Yeah, I remember you mentioning that and I can only imagine there are probably busy roads between your farm & the fairgrounds. It does look great, however, and would make an interesting contrast to all the colorful green tractors!
We had over here in UK an Aktiv model M pull type combine and the drawbar swung across to narrow it for transport we pulled it with a David Brown 880 and got 540rpm in high pto at 1200 engine rpm happy days
Cool! I seen some of those combines in UA-cam videos. Think it’s neat seeing how the stuff is designed in the different countries but still basically the same.
in my area there is one like it for sale with a pickup and a Wisconsin Engine, awesome video
Very cool!
Im really glad that it worked out for you! This was fun to watch. A scrapper most likely would've ended up with that combine if it had sold in my area. Im glad you were able to save it
Yeah, I didn’t want to see it cut up. Thanks Doug!
I'm little jealous Ross that was so cool. Maybe you can run some soybeans with it.
Thanks! That would be neat except I don’t have the sprockets that it takes to run beans.
Went working my tractor this morning some one snapped off my copper fueline I’m bought rubber hose I’m clamp sediment bowl
Sorry to hear that. I’m sure you’ll get it back in shape!
@@rosstheoliverman ya I wasn’t too happy I got parked my aunt neighbors house it about be moved new location
MM proved itself in the wheat and you had a lot of fun. 👍👍
It sure did. Thanks Tom!
Excellent video again enjoyed very much thanks for sharing we used a All is Chalmers 72 all crop combine pull type for years did about 40 acres a year with it .
Thanks! I think combines are so neat. They really are mechanical marvels when you think about it.
Very cool combine can't wait to more on this .
Thanks! I’m sure it will appear in more videos in the future.
Wow, this was also a lot of fun to watch! Great video again! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!!!
Great video. Thanks for taking us alone for the ride.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks Keith!
Pretty sweet! I’m neither an Oliver or moline guy but do enjoy your videos. Grandma had a 1961 550 gas and that may have created a soft spot for them but either way. I enjoy watching the old equipment. Which I would have loved to put my wd45 and roto baler in those windrows!
Thanks! A Roto Baler is on my list of things to buy. I just think those are so neat watching them work. The fact that somebody could come up with that design and make it work is amazing!!!
@@rosstheoliverman they are neat. Pain to get right though. I posted a couple videos of mine in action
Ross, you never explained the grain loss monitor!
You mean my eyeballs 🤣🤣🤣
That was the combine that i remember on the farm. I think it has a 55 bushel hopper.
I read the book and it’s a 20 bushel hopper. Amazing it’s so small!
The only thing better would be an oliver combine behind the tractor
I agree! Someday…
I grew up running an 88 and that gear whine at 8:10 sure brings back memories, day after day hauling chopper wagons
It’s a pleasant sound for sure!
What camera you using? Looks Awesome!
GoPro Hero 8. Thanks!
Put bolts in draw bar from top. If nuts come off bolt won't fall out.
If you watch the whole video you know that this drawbar is broken.
The wuss in me says you need a cover on the PTO
It’s supposed to have a long shield that covers that but it’s long gone.
Catch your pant leg on that shaft ,then there would be no more episodes Just sayin
Good job Ross looks good, it will really look sharp when you get it all painted up.Are you using rattle cans to paint or a spray gun just wondering looks good either way.
I’ve just been using rattle cans and painting it by section. I don’t have patience to clean up the whole thing at once. 😭
Well you would never know looks really good
which we will work together continue to work together to address these issues to tackle these challenges and to work together
Trumambesureprezzure!!!

I got free Oliver pull type combine model 18 I’m restore fix up running I hear parts are $500 fix up any clue where I can get them Ross
Hello Ross love your channel I found right pull type combine bought allis chalmers with new reel I’m excited guy bring it few weeks
I have new harvester reel boards if you are interested
Cool! I bought these and made them based on what I thought they should be. I’ve even got stencils to try to put those words back on there but I haven’t got that far yet.
Yellow and red looks good out there in the field. Good job getting it functional.
Thanks! It was awesome!
Looks like a sweet runner. Pretty clean harvest from the looks of the bin.👍👍👍🇺🇸🙏🏽✌🏻😎
Great video. Is that the same as the Oliver pull type just different color?
No, they were two separate companies and the two combines are made differently. When you see them side-by-side it’s more noticeable.
That is cool I love to watch old Machinery work any interest in watching them Target spend hours watching a mold machines work
Had a. Neighbor with three of them mm pull types sitting in a slough for years was always amazed they had a auger for unloading grain tank.
Glad you rescued it, Ross the straw hat man.
🤣 Thanks!!!
Ross I left you note on one of your videos it a serial number to a 55 gas oliver can you tell me year and where I may find some hard to find parts
Did I reply to that? Sometimes UA-cam doesn’t notify me and I missed some comments. If you send me an email I can probably give you better information. Thanks!
Seam like a wise man would of swung the drawbar the other way for transport? Then swung it back at the field. LOL Sure looks like a fun time!
I thought about doing that but since my draw bar is broken I figured I might as well just full send it 🤣
@@rosstheolivermanwonder if Richard(Oldfarmjunk101) would have a Oliver drawbar in his boneyard ?
Very nice like seeing the old stuff run
Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for watching!
I had to watch several times and really enjoy it all, Spent many days cutting wheat with an AC 60 pull type combine and loved it ! I dont know why but using a pull type combine was always more enjoyable than using a self propelled combine and a hole lot cooler too ! LOL But the dust was a killer when the wind blew the wrong way. My 1550 utility would have been perfect on that combine cause 1 threw 4 are slower than a row crop tractor plus you got the 2 speed witch really helps. Keep up the great work Ross, Love the footage ! Bandit
Thanks Bandito!! Next time you come out here, my cousin really wants to meet you. He’s one of your big fans!!!
Very cool to watch. Thanks!
Thanks!!!
WOW ..Great Job .. MM worked better after round TWO . You might want to invest in some new CHAINS & Sprockets . This MM is a keeper. Thanks
Yeah, there’s still things that could be done to improve the machine. Finding parts might be a real challenge. Thanks Thomas!
Definitely one of your better videos!
Thanks!!
Ross you've resurrected her from the dead! Congradulations.
Thanks!!!
That was a awesome awesome video Wish I could have been there to see it person Makes me want to get one now lol I couldn't wait for this video to come out
It is so much fun for sure!
Thats is so MOO cool. MM equals modern machinery.
Thanks! Yeah yeah, you could still see that on the old decals if you look close. Modern machinery. I’ve got some new decals that came with it so hopefully if I get it finished painted I can put those on.
My dad had one like this but it was powered by a Wisconsin 4 cylinder it worked when he parked it in the barn 45 years ago but after he passed the thing was locked up tight
You can take the longest time to do nothing
I sure can.
Awesome,,all I can say. Awesome.
Thank you very much!
