Thanks for all the great videos @Edge Autosport! These have been extremely helpful for me. Do you think it is possible that upgrading to a Koyorad Radiator would be more beneficial than a (mishimoto, Aem) short ram air intake? When you talked about the car pulling timing it made me think of this.
Blows my mind seeing the big torque and low hp numbers from such a lil engine. Definite signs of a small turbo. Hoping to pick up a new 2020 within a week
Awesome video, just ordered a Mishimoto intercooler and piping kit for $480 shipped. Do you think the piping will have a noticeable increase in power? Also what fuel did you use when tuning? 91 or 93?
We use 91 because that's the best gas we have in our area. The piping isn't going to be a significant change on stock turbo. We did a test with that and just released the video if you want to check it out. Make sure you check us out for your next mod! We'd love to help you with your build!
after installing the mishimoto intercooler on my 2020 Si sedan i noticed a small vibrating noise that only happens when i am riding at 2000-2600 RPMs. i kept the stock piping and hoses and just installed intercooler. it does it in every gear around that RPM range its like a gurgling vibrating noise. its only done it since after i installed the intercooler. any ideas what it might be? its not loud but it kinda reminds me of the rattle i used to get in my old EG6 when the engine vibrates at a certain RPM. could it be bc the airflow has changed and its causing a vibration noise?? or is it the intercooler not properly mounted on the bushings?
so you kept the original pipping? And only switched out the intercooler im just asking because im looking for a intercooler upgrade on my 2019 si sedan
Did you have trouble getting the cold side completely flush? There was no way to get a torque wrench to screw the bolts, I had to use a tiny 10mm box wrench to be able to tighten the bolts.
Installed mine a few hours ago, about 3 or 4 of the clips didn't make it on somehow but got the metal screws and most of the clips on, that thing is never coming off so long as I have it
Any difference an intercooler is going to make is going to be immediate. However, the intercooler really starts to shine when you get more aggressive with the tuning since the intercooler is providing cooler temps.
Thanks! There really wasn't a huge reason other than Mishimoto has been a good company to work with over the years and it appeared that this was a really nice product based on the build specs. The cast end tanks are always really cool to me and it was bar and plate which I wanted for the build too. It was a very complete kit with the option to use stock piping or upgraded too which was cool. We obviously choose parts that we sell too.
So basically from what I’m gathering is that the stock piping is fine for the stock turbo and if you plan to get a bigger turbo then the aftermarket piping is worth it as it allows more airflow? Or an I wrong?
@@EdgeAutosport Gotcha. I might get the radiator for now that way the small turbo doesnt work that hard to get air compared to bigger pipes. it sounds like a loss in turbo efficiency since it it has to work harder thus creating turbo lag. Idk if you felt any lag with the piping on.
Hi thanks for the video , I have a quick question not regards to this video but to a 10g civic. I have a 2020 si coupe an I would like to get some wheels spacers but I am not sure on the site I should get is any side you would recommend, 20mm , 25mm or 27mm ? Thanks in advance and I appreciate your help
To be honest, I don't like using spacers longer than 10mm. I know it's more money, but getting a wheel fitted the way you want is a better option. From a fitment standpoint, I can't make a recommendation because it's really based on your opinion of how it looks and fits and what you want. That's really up to you.
Hi, just a quick question, I am purchasing this intercooler and I have a Ktuner, I believe you said after installing the intercooler there is some tuning need to be done could you please give me a little more details about it ?
To make use of the cooler, denser air, you can get more aggressive with the tune. The benefit of the intercooler is great by itself, but you can more aggressively tune the ECU and get more power from the car after the upgrade. We suggest a custom tune if you'd like to maximize the intercooler's potential to increase performance.
They have nothing to worry about at these power levels. I've been pushing ~300whp for a few months and I drive aggressively often. Proper maintenance and a good tune and you'll be good.
We haven't tried that. You could probably bolt it on without a tune just fine but it's not going to benefit you as much as a tune will for making power. However, it will keep the temps much more consistent and keep them lower. If airflow changes enough, then it could take the ECU into areas that it isn't used to seeing and start making automatic adjustments that you don't want.
Can't make power without proper cooling, now I gotta get this intercooler and take off the stock one, I'm planning on getting a tuner soon plus new intake for the nice turbo sounds, is the sedan version any harder than the coupe or is it the same ?
An intercooler is always a good call! The sedan and coupe should install similarly. We've got some Ktuners ready to roll if you want to claim one, head over to the website or give us a call.
From what I understand if you're not tuned it doesn't matter. But if you plan on running a bigger turbo and boost levels above stock it'll help to have the charge pipes. Again, charge pipes are something you can do later on.
Whether there is an option or not, you can still get etuned. I don't believe there is an option though. Go check out our eTune listing, it explains a little more about the "how" of your question. - edgeautosport.com/edge-autosport-etune-honda-civic-2016-2019/
Also an owner of a si. I got a question. Will you get a check engine light with the mishimoto intercooler without a Tune? Currently running the prl street intake.
That alone shouldn't cause a check engine light. But I suppose there is a change the ECU could sense enough change in air quality that it might throw a CEL. I really don't know. We're so used to tuning before getting into bolting on parts.
@@EdgeAutosport thank you so much for the feedback!! I'll try and get some more information. I'm trying to put bolts on first before a tune so it all comes together.
