No. Not sure about this specific one but it should adjust the af ratio automatically and you might even get a little more power with an aftermarket bov without a tune

My mechanic told me it will create backfires, because there’s no recirculating system with the HKS, and might damage the MAF.
So I’ll sell mine HKS BOV. Anyone take it for $150? seriously. I won’t put it on.
So I'm hesitant about getting a bov for my 10th gen si, I love the sound but there is so much controversy on how it's bad for these cars but I don't know what to believe lol
Well we believe they are just fine! We've been monitoring it on the dyno for as long as we've had it - no issues

hey can you guys do a long term review of this, I want to know if there was any reliability issues because I'm seeing everywhere different reports, seeing people with proof having no issues for more than a year and some with horrific issues like running too rich, turbo breaks, power loss.

would running a flex fuel kit with the hks bov be a problem with the richness it causes
The richness is barely noticeable on the data logs. It only hits rich between shifts for close to one second. You can’t even tell when driving
Doubt it. Pretty sure E80 fuel (which is higher octane due to the fuel mixture being 80% ethanol and 20% gas) is stable/ less volatile to spontaneous combustion that pure 87 octane gasoline is more likely to have. That means less likely for knocks and pings to wear out the parts faster.
It's also a similar concept with turbochargers: Higher octane in fuels help stabilize it from volatile/ spontaneous combustions (or pre-detonation in tech terms). This helps protect the turbocharger's internal parts from premature wear and tear.
After you install the blow off, would you have to do a tuning or something like that?

I am sure it would work, but you might need to buy a longer hose so it doesn’t create any kinks.

@@swordsmen46 yea drive it everywhere, I have the hks bov, mishimoto intercooler, k&n typhoon intake and ktuner V2 I usually am on map 2 or 3 so putting hella boost too and haven't encountered any problems

I have this blow Vale in my 10thgen I didn't like the squill sound so I removed the center piece, sound heaps better and louder spray sound not a sneeze sound
I installed the same bol and it made my car run like shit. Thrown up all sorts of codes. So had to remove 😔

both still use a vacuum line for reference. but pull style: boost pressure seals the bov diaphragm (less chance of boost leaking by design). presence of vacuum (shifting, part throttle etc) actuates the valve, pulling the inner portion of the valve (whole valve moves in high boost to vacuum transitions hence the sequential name).. push type: push type, while still uses a vacuum line for reference, relies on the pressure building up in the charge pipe to overcome bov spring diaphragm. very simple concepts... and I'm sure my explanation did nothing to help clear up, lol
I have seen videos of people recirculating the air that comes out of this bov, do you think that would be possible in this civic? To avoid to avoid people's concern about fuel overfeed.

So I have a question , I been looking for that wing on the Civic si coupe , I only saw it on one other Civic and it was the Red Bull rally car , can u pls tell me who makes that wing ? I would like to buy it if u guys sell them ,
This wing came from that Red Bull team, through a guy that snatched them up and resold them. There are none left as far as I know and that was a while ago.
@edgeautosport hey so I just watched another youtuber who goes by “ illicitfilo” and he did the same install as yours.. is there a reason why his flutters ? And yours doesn’t ? I’m wanting to get that flutter that he’s getting. ALSO I did see that there’s an hks bov specifically made for the si and then there’s the universal one.. just wondering what the actual difference is
I’m pretty sure in that video he had his vacuum line kinked at a 90° angle so he was blocking it causing compressor surge mine did this as well until I put the proper length vacuum line on then it was gone.
Do you know if it’ll fit with PRL turbo inlet pipe and Intercooler + charge piping?
It should. The piping doesn't interfere with that area.
Thanks for the detailed instructions! I love the sound. I’m curious if I’ll have any problems running the 23psi tune that comes with the ktuner? That’s what I’m currently running and was wondering if I’ll run into any issues with the boost pressure. Thank you!
I don't see why it would be an issue - the SSQV mk4 has a dual-valve design and apparently has been tested up to 50psi or something crazy. Even better, let's get you a custom tune to make the most from your mods!

My torque solutions threw a code and forced my car into limp mode twice in 3 months, so idk how good this is for my the recirc system

Bought my si coupe in sept used with 28,000 miles put at bov adapter on and my check engine light came on.....took that off and bought a boomba bov and havent had any problems yet no check engine light.......I have done the research and it's a mila second that it runs rich.....I think that the cars that are blowing up are running a lower grade fuel cause they cant afford the premium....imo.....I have had no issues with my set up and love it

@@jrzhoe24 The transmission is the most important for BOV because with an automatic transmission you do not have a clutch and the sound is created by pressing the clutch pedal

So after having this for about two weeks I noticed yesterday that my car had a little backfire to yesterday it was a good sound coming from the exhaust but not sure if it’s good for the car haven’t had any codes or problems, a little bit of lag but you can tell you may lose a little of performance

I think maybe you have to let it get used to the car first.. like 3 weeks and then it would adapt more better maybe that’s why I back fire a lot here and their, just like if you were to take your mufflers off if you know that feeling

It should! but we have not tested this new application yet
Do you need the different fin setup for the flutter sound? This one sounds like the torque solution but more of a whistle then an dumping swoosh.
Yes you would need a different BOV if you want a flutter sound. The HKS Super Sequential doesn't flutter. But I can say it is loud as hell even at 10psi. There's a video of different ones being compared on the 10the gen if you want to hear different options.

We don't have anything like this for the 2.0T. Honestly, I'm not 100% sure of the BOV differences. I am curious myself though and will check into it.

We haven't confirmed fitment, but the flange is the same, so it should!

I ordered my adapter from 3pperformance and it never came with the extended vacuum line, was I supposed to get this with the adapter or will I receive it when my universal hks bov comes in. Thanks!

These adapters are for the 1.5 engine - we have not confirmed fitment for the 2.0 motor

No, this is for the 1.5 turbo only. A naturally aspirated vehicle does not use a bypass/blowoff valve.

Go watch bisimoto video on bov 10th gen. Data log, air fuel ratios, exhaust gas mixtures etc says you don’t lose power or hurt the engine
@@bobsmith-qz2pv they can say what they want, i lost power with this. Lots of hesitation when trying to accelerate and after shifts as well. Went back to stock and haven’t had the problem since.

I have a issue with this bov setup my bov rotates and moves against the ac line or my charge pipe and damages the piping
So after my last comment now I’m starting to have hiccups with my car taking the hks off to see if that’s the reason
i installed a prl short ram intake and this bov on my 10gen, and I heard 2 exhaust pops today, and when I accelerate it jerked on me, never felt that before

How come in other videos the hks has a small flutter, can you adjust it at all
Just a suggestion, why not redesign the adapter plate to have the top hole open ended that way you can screw the top bolt half way and slide the plate up before tightening? Eliminates the hassle of the BOV getting in the way.
Not a bad idea. But it's sort of hard to adjust the BOV once on the car to the position it needs to be in so I'm not sure it would actually make much of a difference in this case. You need to set the BOV where it needs to go before you put it in anyway.

So this blow off valve is the same for the 10th gen Accord 1.5T but what about the adapter is it also the same as too ?
The BOV is universal, but the adapter should work on all 1.5T engines. That said, we've only confirmed fitment on the Civic, clearances may differ on the Accord slightly

Is this the same engine as the 1.5L turbo CVT civic coupe? The only badge is civic but I believe it’s LX? Specifically the 2017 model? If you know don’t pass me up also no sun roof
It is the same motor but the CVT cars react to BOVs different. Although I don't know how the throttle is used while the CVT is moving through it's gearing, I know it's just not going to be the same as a manual. I've been told by a customer with a CVT that he can hear his atmospheric BOV letting air out while he's full throttle which could be some sort of boost control strategy. I don't know if there was another issue happening with his car or not. It's hard to say with just a conversation over the phone. I'm not the tuner here so I really don't know if that happens with the CVT but if it does, I would stick with a recirc at least on a CVT. I've never heard anything like that on our manual.

Is there a performance or a reliability benefit to a BOV that vents to outside?
If not...and there's actually a long term reliability detriment, this is a waste of a bunch of money. Money that could be better spent on an Acuity short throw shifter, or some other mod that actually does something.

@@EdgeAutosport that's kool. I'm new to the world of turbo tuning, coming from all NA cars previously. So I assumed it had some higher function besides sound alone. My personal logic for upgrades is function over form, especially if there are budgetary constraints. Greetings, I have a problem with my vehicle, I installed a blow off plus a KYN filter in the resonance box, because when I drive at low speed it wants to turn off, or if I go fast and brake just right, the rpm drops a lot and the vehicle turns off? ?
After the blow off is installed on a civic 1.5, would something have to be done so that it does not turn off?
It rather sounds like you have a vacuum leak or something. I BOV shouldn't be changing low speed air mixture at all. It should be closed and sealed until the throttle closes and boost is relieved from the charge pipe. The cheaper BOVs can leak pretty bad... I trust you got a proper quality BOV?

We have never really taken a stock car and ran this. But it hasn't caused any codes on our car and has not given us problems.
