In fairness, I can imagine many critics of ghostbuster 2016 saying « see, it’s bad, it lost 80 million dollars ».
Even if they meant « it sucked thus it lost 80 million dollars », their argument would be a non sequitur since correlation doesn’t necessarily imply causation.

The thing I find funniest about the "it isn't for you, it's for them" argument is that, at least last time I checked, my ten year old nieces favorite film is the original 1984 Ghostbusters. This new generation doesn't require new versions of old movies, especially when the new versions suck, when it is more then possible for them to enjoy the originals.
There is an ADHD-like energy to it that I can see old studio executives looking at and thinking that a younger demographic would connect with

"It isn't for you" honestly worst deflection when we talk about quality of things. When we talk about existance of things themselves - sure. Someone can like/dislike naked tiddies, someone - gore, someone - romcoms, and if there something you dont like - go away. But it doesn't mean that there no shitty naked tits, gore or romcoms in movies/anime/games/books/any medium, and that people can't criticize them.
I agree my four year old niece (who is turning 5 next month) loves the first two Ghostbusters movies. I also bought her a DVD set of The Real Ghostbusters recently and she loves the cartoon as well.
It's the same thing with the Disney Trilogy, some people believe that kids cannot connect with the Original Trilogy because it's old

"It's for kids" means that it doesn't have heavy gore or scenes of human intercourse in it. That's it.

Honestly, even though I very rarely disliked movies as a young child, I could subconsciously tell that there was a difference in quality between something like Bee Movie and Wall-E. To argue that children have no standards and can't tell shit from gold is ridiculous, at least from my experience.
Even if you think that children don’t have standards, and it’s not useful to give them good artistic standards, because you don’t think there are good artistic standards, at least try to have your movie not give non artistic standards you don’t want it to give, which I imagine most leftist, centrist, and right... ist ? Are interested in ensuring (speaking of artist of any of these political affiliations, I’m not speaking of all people of these affiliations).

Simple. Evil is parasitic and cannot survive without unwilling participants. You may not want to watch it but you are fully expected to buy a ticket to it whether or not you do.
Another funny addition is that he declares the film is made for children, and that is why adults don't like it. Despite this, he likes the movie enough to openly defend it. So he has spent the majority of his video calling himself a child.

My favourite thing about Ghostbusters 2016 is that the trailer for the new Ghostbusters film, Afterlife, basically retconned it from existence with one line. When even the studios decide your film sucks so bad they remove it from the timeline, you know it was bad lol

Its an OK film - I do hate it myself but if you "get" into the performances its really quite good. The parts with Neil Casey as Rowan North are actually very good. Too bad most of the film is terrible. Neil got unlucky in the film's backlash. Not a Phantom Menace but a disappointing meh.
Oh god the Renegade Cut he's the same guy that argued that having such a high attachment to cannon is bad because the story you are telling in the moment is more important than being consistent to the previous works. I currently do what is basically data entry, it's quite nice to be able to have a stream last my whole shift and not have to waste time searching for something else to listen to every 20 or so mins
One thing I never really hear anyone bring up.
The argument is "Its not made for you, its made for kids!" is ALWAYS for something they enjoy. At what point do we dismiss them going "Oh, so you are a child that enjoys child content, and we want more intelligent movies that grown ups and kids more intelligent than you can enjoy."?
What I would do is just take movies I like and they don't, begin explaining why I like them, then just immediately cut them off with "well it wasn't for you" the moment they try and counter. Like Joker.

Ian Holm trivia: in the 90s the BBC dramatised the entire LOTR trilogy for radio. Ian Holm played Frodo (with Bill Nighy as Sam!). I used to fall asleep every night when I was kid listening to the cassettes, so for me he is the OG Frodo, not Bilbo!

Also, Robert Stephens as Aragorn is fucking awesome. Stephens is a sadly forgotten actor despite his credentials.

Hey Mauler, you know what's the sad part about the guy of RenegadeCut? He actually have good videos about movie critique, his older ones in which he speaks like a normal person and not someone smelling their own farts. I agree, I still am subscribed to him because he often has a lot to say even though I tend to turn off his video in the first 30 seconds now because he barely can keep focused on the movie he's suppose to be reviewing these days. What I hate about the ‘It’s not meant for you, it's meant for them’ is that the original Ghostbusters was a horror comedy aimed at adults that children also liked, not a kid’s movie that adults happen to like.

Maybe this is just me, but I've noticed that I'll get a notification for the stream (sometimes) but usually about an hour in it disappears from my sub feed. I'll usually have to then search for the stream itself, but even then it doesn't show up in searches. I'll have to go to the channel to find it.
However last night I was about 3 hours in, I clicked off to go get a drink, and when I came back I couldn't find the stream at all. So considering that there was 4 hours more of the show I missed, and the way your stream specifically is being treated compared to other people, I'm pretty confident either UA-cam or the algorithm is throttling your channel.
I've noticed that happens to some other channel's streams too.

I can't fucking believe Renegade Cut title a video "Ready Gamergater One". These people can't get over it (and they can't get it right, either).
The greatest sign of a good writer/director is how well they deal with a common trope compared to others. The best example in Female Ghostbusters is Rowen. He is supposed to be the abused, forgotten loser who hates the world and wants to see it burn. Two characters who share these traits that come to mind are Syndrome (from the Incredibles) and the Joker (from the self-titled film). Both of them are well-written and represent different ends of the spectrum. The Joker starts as a good man with mental issues who slowly descends into psychopathy. We see his development and why he becomes a villain. Syndrome is introduced as a full-fledged villain and we are given his history in flashbacks. Both characters are easy to empathize with. They were good people who became flawed and disillusioned with society. The villain of Lady Ghostkillers is not properly developed and is unsympathetic. Because of that, you don't really get invested in his actions. Since the protagonists are equally underdeveloped and unlikable, you find yourself not caring if either side wins. That is very bad storytelling.

I think there are cases of good shows who didn’t get enough support when they initially released; but such cases it’s the marketing dept.’s responsibility to adequately advertise the show, and the distributor’s responsibility to give the show appropriate exposure. Audiences shouldn’t have to do their job for them.

Erin gets video evidence of ghosts. Her boss doesn't fire her, but rather asks if it's real and if it is real, if she can provide actual proof of the existence of ghosts. Erin then asks Abby if she can join their team, Abby is excited because Erin finally is paying her research the respect she has been craving for. Once Erin manages to provide concrete proof to her boss that ghosts are real, the government gets involved and strong arms the team out, including Erin. Abby is upset with Erin, convinced that Erin never really cared about Abby's research and only helped because she was interested in her own career. Jillian is upset because she left the University specifically so that people can't control her research and knowing that Erin went behind their backs to hand over their research to the same people she despised is a point of conflict. In the end, Erin realises that it was the friendship that mattered to her, not the money, bla bla bla, happy ending.
Tell me that's not a cooler version...well, I guess anything would be better than the original.
EDIT: Also, since the government doesn't know how to deal with ghosts, they accidentally release them all, making it necessary to bring the team back.

I will say, the Assembly Cut of Alien 3 is a decent example of a mediocre or shitty movie getting a lot better with an extended cut.
Alien 3 still isn't great with it, but how I would describe it...
Alien 3 theatrical cut is atmospheric, focuses on the prison life and involves character drama, but its only barely skin deep. The Assembly Cut brings a lot of the definition and soul back to it.
For a long while, I though Alien 3 was one of the worst from the series, because I found it incredibly boring. I watched Assembly Cut last year, and I found it a ton more engaging, because the new running time added a lot more context to the characters and story.
Now, the Assembly Cut doesn't make Alien 3 a great movies, but I would put it in the same ballpark of goodness as Revenge Of The Sith. Its actually pretty decent.
Agreed. Kingdom of Heaven is another example of a movie being improved by the extended cut. Although it might just be that the extended cut was the intended cut until studio executives meddled with it. On the other hand, this could arguably just mean the movie was good to begin with but was tampered with into mediocrity.

It would be interesting to see a Fincher Director's Cut of Alien 3, from what I understand there was indeed a lot of studio interference mainly since I think it was his directorial debut in a huge franchise. My biggest problem with aliens 3 is that it disrespects the prior movie by needlessly killing off the characters and (dare I say) retconing the ending. While I though it was otherwise ok, the first five minutes were a slap in the face.

Saying that something shouldn't be criticised objectively, because its made for children, is an admission, that the movie lacks quality. It's basically saying: "Well it doesn't have to adhere to the same standards, because it's made for children.". Which also implies, that it isn't up to par with "movies made for adults" and thus, it shouldn't be judged equally. This argument is like shooting yourself in the foot, while trying in vain, to dismiss possibly legit criticism.
