I was in the Navy on an amphibious ship...meaning that there were sailors (like me) who ran the ship and the Marines who were in charge of storming beaches (a la Normandy). On the ship, basically the Marines had to do what we said within reason so as not to interfere with us running the ship. On land, the sailors basically had to do what the Marines said so as not to mess up what they're doing (but those situations were pretty rare).
The commander of the Marine unit was the same rank as the ship's captain but he couldn't override the captains orders or take command of the ship should something happen to the captain. That's the First Officer's job. So basically what I'm saying is that it tracks that Tarkin would have authority over Vader on the Death Star but only in the capacity of running the station. He was wary of Vader's plan to track the Falcon back to the Rebel base but he didn't override him even though he probably disagreed with him.

I always viewed Vader as a political officer rather than a military one, sort of like a Soviet Commissar, or the Nazi SS. He would have been the Himmler to Tarkin's Goering. Both powerful Imperial figures, but in control of different things, and with differing levels of authority on certain subjects. Vader doesn't get to tell Tarkin how to fly a moon-base, Tarkin doesn't tell Vader how to hunt Jedi.

It's how he found Kenobi, while an entire station full of soldiers were never aware he was even on board. Jedi are dangerous subversives that tried to murder Palpatine and melted his face, they cannot be allowed to roam free. It is the duty of Lord Vader and his Imperial Inquisition to find and destroy these religious fanatics by whatever means necessary.
I am 99% certain the Remarkable Republican is a dedicated troll. He doesn't go through a single line without throwing out a ridiculous assertion. You cannot do that without a lot of effort. Its disproven in the OT as well. Han was a smuggler that didn't give a fuck about the war besides the empire being up his ass more often. It took Luke, Laia, the death of Obe Wan, the knowledge that the rebels had a chance to wreck the empire, and his own conscious to make him join.
Han was not, by design, a certainty in the first movie. we only know that in hindsight and due to pre-established tropes that this would happen.

KillerHawke007 The EFAP panel has consisted of MauLer, Rags and Dishonored Wolf as regulars more often than not throughout its history. I have seen every EFAP in full, but not some quasi EFAP material that is on other channels which is regarded "deep lore". However, I feel that these hours of content is enough of a sample to make a fair subjective judgement of the character of the panel. They call themselves the Toxic Brood. They are negative about popular media and make _ad hominem_ attacks about those they critique. For example, they said Eric Taxxon was "titantically ugly". Rags likes to make "jokes", which come in the form of edgy humour. This is subjective, but I have never found him funny. Joan Rivers said something to the effect that no topic was off limits for comedy, but you better be damn funny and get people laughing despite themselves if you are going to tackle taboo subjects. Rivers was always hilarious, even when making jokes right after 9/11 so it isn't as if I am some over sensitive prude who is easily triggered by edgy humour. It can be funny. Rags isn't, and it is painful to listen to his attempts. All he has is shock value, which the dumb EFAP community feels is refreshingly radical, when it mainly hinges on having the disrespect to marginalised, formerly abused and enslaved communities to use the N word with a discernable -er ending. As a result I have reported this EFAP for Hate speech, so it may get taken down once UA-cam get around to reviewing it. The N word should not be normalised through "comedy" amongst a largely white community of puerile teens.
The Dishonored Wolf has always come across as embittered and misanthropic. He doesn't seem to like anyone they critique. His reaction to Jack Saint was a torrent of invective abuse which was out of all proportion to Eric Taxxon saying he hadn't made an argument. He hadn't made a significant, persuasive, argument. His argument was shite. Technically, he had made "an argument" and I watched the entire Jack Saint / Eric Taxxon response video to that EFAP, and they were very even handed and accepted, in places, they had misspoke. However, Wolf came off so unreasonably offended that I sensed then he was not fit for society and may have a personality disorder borne from depression. I now see from what MauLer said at the beginning of this broadcast that this was the case and I was correct. This, if I believed in Karma, would be Karmic Justice for what this panel had done to help drive Jared Acock (Jared Genesis) to a nervous breakdown through cyberbulling that I had advised MauLer to not pursue, and advised Jared to not tolerate and accept being turned into a living meme, as all memes end up dead memes at some point when they cease to be fun and I was concerned about how this would affect Jared psychologically when The Drunken Peasants chat was put onto Jared, and his Nemesis felt emboldened to disrupt his innocent chill streams until he snapped live.
Both Rags and Wolf have been racist, and I warned MauLer very early on in his EFAP channel to take control of his platform or risk being demonetised as it grew, or taken off UA-cam completely. I like his long form content, although I don't think that there is any merit to his "movie watching robot" or think that it is possible to objectively critique Art as Art is intended to elicit emotions and in order to be unbiased one would also need to be unemotional, and would miss a lot of what was in the Art, then if only addressing the Craft within the Art that is also flawed, as there are no universal metrics by which to rate content, all we have are a loose set of commonly agreed upon standards which are subject to change over time due to innovations in technique, so work that is _avante garde_ can start by being initially rejected by all critics and then become respected a generation later as the critics come to understand the appropriate way to view the work, and other works of that nature (I won't use the word "lens" because I don't care for it, it is unnecessary and pretentious). So, I would have preferred EFAPs that lack Rags and Wolf and instead have had Voxis Productions and Jay Exci as regulars (but I can only make a recommendation for the future health of the channel for MauLer to cut ties with Wolf and Rags before a more Purely Progressively Puritanican and increasingly Corporatised UA-cam shuts down channels like EFAP which will have E;R on as a guest in the wake of a mass shooting.
I hold MauLer responsible for allowing Rags free rein to drop the N word, make tasteless unfunny holocaust jokes, then make out he can't be touched as he supports Bernie Sanders. I hope Wolf sets fire to his manuscript when in a dark night of the soul, as the world doesn't need his cancerous negativity, misogyny (Rey isn't a Mary Sue and it is clear he doesn't understand the definition of the term) as he diminishes the agency of female characters in an incomplete Saga when they abilities could well be explained (i.e. 'Mystery Boxes' / _Rashomon_ / potential for a Flashback that addresses Rey's and Evandor's backstory to impactful effect in _The Rise of Skywalker's_ dramatic climax), where Ripley was indeed written in a gender neutral way (and, incidentally, Lambert was subtly noted to be a transgender MTF from birth according to a computer screen aboard the Nostromo in _A L I E N_ ), then made into Ellen Ripley without any need to change the dialogue, but then _A L I E N S_ dealt with the theme of motherhood, both Ellen risking all to rescue Newt, after bizarrely losing her own daughter to old age due to being in hibernation for decades, so viewing Newt as her surrogate daughter is a huge part of the plot, motivates Ellen, and motherhood motivates the Xenomorph Queen, so quite how Wolf manages to miss all of this and regard Ripley as a role that could have been a man and it is healthy that female casting is a moot point, is so blinkered, it is laughable. The answer to Rey is to not make her a man, 'Ray' would still not follow the Hero's Journey. Rey is only problematic because J.J.Abrams was both lazy in superficially copying whole scenes from _A New Hope_ whilst simultaneously managing to somehow not copy the deeper synthetic monomyth of the Hero's Journey that George Lucas had been inspired to create after reading Joseph Campbell's book: _The Hero with a Thousand Faces_ (which says that a heroic "monomyth" with the same story beats is common to all cultures, even those who have never been influenced by another, suggesting that humans determine through a natural selection of the best told heroic stories the same stereotypes and character arcs) as J.J. wanted to prematurely insert a flashy lightsaber battle, which given Rey's complete lack of training should have resulted in her dismembering herself, and certainly not defeating a trained Kylo.

*facepalm* No, Browntable, listen; a minimalist-style painting will naturally take _less_ time than a traditional style painting by design. It takes less time to paint a single cactus on a barren desert than it does to paint a traditional watercolor recreation of the aurora borealis over the Mojave dunes.
What you _mean_ to say is that there’s no less *thought* put into a Minimalist piece rather than a traditional piece. I can guarantee you that the people behind Shadow of the Colossus had just as much thought behind their game, if not more, as the guys who made Final Fantasy 12.
Even if you strengthen his statement by talking about “thought” that’s pretty weak. How do we know there was just as much thought put into the painting if the minimalist one takes far less effort? Do you just take the artist’s word for it? How do we quantify “thought put into a piece” if not through the effort that went into making it and the quality of the piece?
@@bearistotle2820 Moreover, it seems to be a reasonable assumption that during the time spent painting, there's constant reevaluation and adjustment going on, meaning that we can assume that the time spent painting is also the bare minimum of thought given to the painting. Sure, the artist probably thought about the painting beforehand, and between breaks, but how the hell do we quantify that? Do we instead take the amount of time between starting the painting and finishing it? But it's not like all artists think about their work the same, and you can have an incredibly complex work that requires many more actual working hours than a minimalist painting, but for whatever reason the minimalist painting took longer to complete.
The "every artist gives equal amount of thought to their art as every other artist" proposition feels like a "everyone gets a medal!" cop-out.

@@bearistotle2820 The depth of the ideas expressed in the piece, how or even if it comments on the greater art world and how the composition functions as a conduit for those ideas are good indicators. To take extreme examples compare a Cy Twombly piece from his series Analysis of the Rose as Sentimental Despair to a landscape painting copying a photo or a 'realistically rendered' naked anime girl.

You can clearly identify thoughtfulness in a minimalist piece if the choices made in its ceation are clearly made intelligently and intentionally.
An unintentional minimalist piece would be something like Jackson Pollock's paintings, which are still great.

The Neo-Classical Revival, the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, Gothic Revival in architecture, I’m a digital painter in a university course of digital painters and all our favourite artists died 100 YEARS AGO. We are told to study Da Vinci despite the fact he PAINTED WITH OIL SLOW COOKED WITH BEESWAX AND WE DRAW WITH STYLUS AND TABLET. We study them because good art is always relevant.

Several different outside sources including director commentary states that the DS1 took so long to build was because it was such a massive project to try and create it, trying to find enough workers (wookie slaves), the logistics of it all, plus union problems just made the project drag its feet.

2:29 Most soft armored vests and many helmets that have been issued to soldiers over the years could only stop pistol calibre rounds. Even today it requires additional plates to stop rifle rounds. Not all plates can stop all types of rifle round either. Armor is primarily worn as protection against shrapnel. It's also nice to have knee pads, even plastic ones.
If stormtrooper armor protects against shrapnel, "plasma splash", micro meteors, construction injuries and bumping your head like that one extra did in A New Hope then it protects well enough.
The reduction in mobility doesn't seem to justify the protection given

I'm not exactly an advocate for forcing work to be finished on an arbitrary timeline, things take as long as they take. I have a lot of passions and TFA will have it's day. I wish Hollywood would do something similar with a lot of projects, they could at least give them more time in general, it could alleviate a lot of the issues in script writing. Thank goodness not all UA-cam channels have those kinds of restrictions and projects can be free.

It's not really a problem tho. It's a ridiculously massive space station with a laser that can explode planets. It must be designed, there must be elements of it built for testing, the flaws must be excised, etc etc. A first of its kind moon sized doom weapon taking 20 years to build makes sense.
