1. The Gust Jar, despite being introduced years prior, is a far better item than the Gust Bellows. The Gust Jar allows you to suck in dust and air and blockages to paths and pots and even enemies or parts of enemies. When a pot or enemy is stuck to the Gust Jar, it can be expelled out as a projectile. The Gust Bellows can only blow and is therefore worse. 2. The Cane of Pacci, while not mentioned in the video, is my favorite underrated, forgotten, and underutilized item. While its effects are limited to only flipping things and letting Link use small pits as ways to jump, it's fun and whimsical. It deserves to be brought back.
There is magic powder in skyward sword, if you slash the glowing mushrooms in the kikwi forest and use a bottle you can get glowing spores and then if you use those glowing spores on a green rupee you can transform it into a blue rupee or maybe red rupee sometimes I forget the details, it might do other stuff too it could definitely be more useful but it's nice they have Magic powder in a newerish game
Why the muddle bud? The Deku Nut just stunned enemies. The muddle bud doesen't stun enemies and instead makes them fight their allies. I would say that the Dazzlefruit resembles Deku nuts much more.
I was rather confused when you said Deku Nuts were in The Minish Cap and Twilight Princess because I didn't remember them being in either. After doing research, I somewhat disagree that they do, although Twilight Princess is closer to an appearance than the other. While yes, the Deku Scrubs spit them in The Minish Cap, and yes, you can use them like a pot in Twilight Princess, you can't carry a bunch around and use them as a weapon like you can in Ocarina of Time, and that is the reason for my disagreement. It's like saying Tingle makes an appearance in Spirit Tracks, Phantom Hourglass, Skyward Sword, and Breath of the Wild. He doesn't appear in any of those games, at least not in person. All of these games do contain a reference to him, an Easter egg if you will. That being said, I would like to see this item return.
What about some items from Zelda 2 such as boots that let you walk on water or a cross that lets you see invisible enemies and it's not common to see a key that can open any locked door in the game.
What i miss the most is a completion item so strong it would make the final boss trivial. in Totk, you get like little charms and gibblets if you complete something, like a monster kill quest medaillon, or lighting all roots in the depths. But what i really want is something like the Fierce Diety Mask in Majoras Mask (and i dont talk about the knock-off sets in BotW and Totk). But i guess thats a problem with games in general that they dont have good completion-things, like just a star on your savefile, a little jingle ingame or a piece of text that says 100%.
An item that we'll never see again is the cross from the adventure of Link. I'm also a big fan of the deku princess from Majora's mask. I need to write a list of best items. Edit: Great call on the deku nuts. They even show up in Super smash Brothers, there's just no reason they shouldn't be in another Zelda game.
They really do need to bring back the item system for Zelda titles. This open world thing is nice but they are no longer Zelda titles because the formula of dungeons is now basically gone. Going into dungeons to get items or needing certain items to fully complete dungeons has been the way they have been since link to the past in the 90s. For 30 years basically (slight rounding involved here). But BotW and TotK have basically thrown away the dungeons for open world exploration. Which is great and all. But why not just make them a Zelda spin-off game then instead of a full fledged title? This would've been the perfect time to introduce Shiek as a playable character for example. Something fans have wanted since the late 90s when Ocarina of Time came out. As pointed out in this video. There are plenty of older items that would do just fine in an open world title. Especially if your goal is to provide multiple ways to solve various puzzles and whatnot. The fact that excuses for not using rhe Hookshot include "it would trivialize climbing" means that you are just bad at designing things. Because it should be used to enhance climbing by making it able to climb higher than before. Make it cost a stamina chunk to shoot and pull with it. That would mean it's not limitless and basically be like you need to rest between frequent uses. Other top down titles have used that gimmick before. Link between worlds I believe did so. Speaking of LBW, they also had an open world like game where it was not linear. How did they handle the series staple items? The item rental system. So I'm not saying use this system exactly. But having items available in shops and such to buy lesser versions of then early on means you can use them for a while and explore more freely. Make them use durability on the common versions and finding the real thing from a dungeon or wherever would remove the limitation of durability or less stamina usage or something. Also upgrades for items is something that other series often use to help pad a game or make more limits. Say your bombs can only break a certain material. But undergo a quest or pay some rupees and now they can break more stuff. This hinders the open world exploration but also makes someone have goals and things to focus on. Maybe you want to merc bokoblins until you have enough to upgrade your bombs to Mac so you can break a big Boulder blocking your way. You can. That's what grinding IS in games. The point is that developers think they're making major improvements but by removing the item systems and nixing dungeon style altogether they are actually just making a different game. So why not just transition the series to hand off to a new protagonist and make a new series in that route. Then go back to Link completing dungeons as the main series again. Like I said. Make it a spin off. Hell make it a duality type game. Make it so where Link is tackling dungeons during the game and someone else (like Shiek) is handling the open world recon and whatnot. Neither can progress until the other has reached a certain point or helped out in some way. Make them paired titles. Similar to the oracle games and their password system. Only now if can be done with just save file data unlocking stuff in the other title. That would actually be amazing because for those who prefer only one style then maybe have someone ELSE play the other title and then it's literally like 2 people saving the world. Allow for linking online and you can even do this with people not in your house. That would be epic as hell. And totally something that can be programmed fairly easily into these types of titles. And example would be there's an erupting volcano or a wild storm over the sea. Shiek can't progress through an area because it's too hazardous. But Link can beat a dungeon/boss which would calm the world effect allowing passage through. Link can't beat a certain dungeon without an item. So Shiek has to embark on a long quest to either get Intel or find an item that would assist Link on his task. Together they help each other and progress as a team through various obstacles and eventually have the end goal of fighting some end boss to save the world. All totally doable. Even opens up the option of online play to the mix as well. Being able to fight the final boss (maybe with an extra form or harder difficulty) with a duo rather than solo. This can be done with matchmaking OR invites to a friend. Again. Both are easy to accomplish.
I forget nothing. How dare you.

I remember figuring that out it was crazy

Now that I think about it, I feel like the Dazzlefruits in Totk kind of recreated a deku nut right? Deku nuts were still cooler though.
Seems like the Muddle Budd kind of replaced the Deku Nut in TotK.
Why the muddle bud? The Deku Nut just stunned enemies. The muddle bud doesen't stun enemies and instead makes them fight their allies. I would say that the Dazzlefruit resembles Deku nuts much more.
I can name all the ones on the thumbnail: candle, magnet gloves, and the gust bellows!

Dazzlefruit is the new deku nut
You could've just tilted it "Smash Bros Items that aren't in TOTK" 😂
This was the first thing I thought of lol.
What about some items from Zelda 2 such as boots that let you walk on water or a cross that lets you see invisible enemies and it's not common to see a key that can open any locked door in the game.
I think in the original LoZ, the first candle could be used once per screen and the upgraded candle could be used multiple times.
That is correct.
Im guessing from the thumnail magnetic glove the candle and gust bellows?
Magic Cape - (LTTP) & Eye of Truth (Oot + MM).
I was thinking you were going to mention the skeleton key in og loz

What about items that only appear once? I need some way to cure my collectors anxiety

Forgettable? The upgraded lantern is as powerful as the fully upgraded master sword in ALBW, and that's pretty bad ass
depressing intro. i still hold out hope we'll get to see some cool puzzles again. i have heard of all of these items though
No switch hook from Oracle of Ages?
Too similar to the Hookshot, probably.
Ball and chain
deku nuts in TP?
Alot of these things were in Hyrule Warriors
