    I'm impressed by how many of you have mentioned scrub radius. It is a concern to me but I did not explain it in the video for simplicity and also thought no one would understand. I guess I was wrong lol.

      I am just happy too see content that they actually will fit for 16". Many big brake kits (ok, these are not that big) mention that one needs to use 17". I live in Nordics, and I need my 15" or 16" winter tyres, as there's no 17" proper winter tyre option in size that would fit Fiesta ST. I can get 205/45R17 from Continental, but those are super expensive size and hard to find, 215/45 would be easier, but likely won't fit at all.

    Love the vids Steve. Always in for a challenge it seems. Wonder how you will like the EBC brakes. Found a great secondhand deal myself on a Ksport 304 BBK. Fits nicely with 20mm spacers on standard wheels and good for the 16" winterset I hope too. For track use I found a 25ET 17" set which clears the brakes nicely without spacers. Keep going making those vids

    Wouldn't it be best to run the 16's with a 3-5mm spacer and spend the extra on tyres when needed. My concerns with the 15's and a 25mm spacers is that the scrub radius will be way out messing with your tuned handling. Also the thought of widening the track by 50mm just using spacers, won't the wheels poke like mad and upset the balance unless you also do the rear? Not wanting to shut down your plans just hoping to get some insight

    • @Sparkplugsteve
      @Sparkplugsteve  4 роки тому

      Hi. Yeh I will have a pretty bit positive scrub radius with them. It's not ideal but it can still work. Il probably get more torque steer and some wandering on braking. It's something I did want to avoid but il try it and see how it goes

  • @steve19901988

    So a rule of thumb is, the bigger the wheel the better the brakes fit? My friend got the 330mm kit and we are scratching our heads as to what offset the new wheels should be. I have the fullrace A from Braid on et40 7x17 and on my 300mm tarox kit it fits perfectly, you can even fit an extra finger. But I don't think the EBC's will fit under an ET40 wheel. Our goal is to not install spacers. By estimate, do you think that ET35 would be enough?

    Hi Steve, just caught up on watching all your video's from YBO & ONO up to present day, have enjoyed it all immensely, it's amazing what you've achieved from that wee shed, one thing I have noticed is there doesn't seem to be an air compressor in there ? Hi Steve, Just to add to the suggestions, could you not get a machine shop to weld up the holes in the carrier and redrill them a few millimeters closer to the hub? as a few mills on the radius will mean a lot loss spacer.
    Secondly, whilst you are looking at the brakes, have you thought about replacing the servo , perhaps one from a Mondeo ST or even a transit, as they are likely to give you more pressure.
    Keep up the great videos and keep safe

    16s are far less hassle. The scrub radius will be to big on the 15s. No doubt you would get it to work changing settings and it will handle ok on track, but it may handle like a mwchin on the road. Hard to say until you do it I spose. Nice brakes though 👍

    I’ve been running ebc 330 brake for about a year now , the yellow stuff pads lasted about 5 laps of Blyton park and they were done , so I’ve swapped to rp1
    Bit of a tip , when you come to bleed the brakes , roll up some blue roll/ paper and get all the excess fluid out of the centre of the bleed nipple
    The bleeder goes really deep before it seats in the calliper and your left with some above the seal, under the rubber dust cover , so when it gets warm it weeps out and makes you think they are leaking ......... just my experience with them mate 👍🏻

    Hey Steve, what is you current scrub radius on your wheel setup?. Do the wheels have OEM offsets?. If you add 25mm outboard to tyre tread center you could introduce some dogey handling characteristics im sure you will be able to notice. Maybe you could take some material off the caliper :-) or best going with the 16", if you looking for performance gains on track. Maybe worth buying Competition Car Suspension: A Practical Handbook. Thanks for you vids
