I'm with you on the colors, wear what you want , some people NEED someone to guide them through almost everything and need affirmation on what looks good. You're a confident woman who is independent, and that's something to be admired❤Happy New Year, thanks for taking the time to make these videos for us😘
The top Michelle dyed for you - it went from "eh" to "wow!" A lot of what you said resonated with me. Thanks! Have a wonderful New Year and a great break.
Sometimes all it takes is dyeing! I know because it happened to me with a wearable mock-up I made two years ago as I was starting to learn to sew. I used fabric I had bought on sale to practice. The top fit but the colors were wrong for me. Last year I dyed it and it made all the difference. I got to wear the top multiple times after that. Thank you for your videos. What you say makes a lot of sense!
Color analysis and similar advice daunted me for years. Some recommendations were simply to insistent, heylookatme! Colors. I’m more classic and I guess subdued. So personality figures into what colors work as much as my eyes, hair, and skin tone, I think.
Love the dyed top. AND, the tip about life being better with a little blush! Great advice. My sewing resolution is for more intentional sewing-concentrate on fewer but better made garments. Thanks for sharing your fabric and pattern stats-very impressive. Enjoy your break.
Oh Sarah, I actually burst out laughing when you said you made 2023 goals and never looked at them again! And the same with the Make 9. I am the same and it made me so happy to hear you put that into words. Maybe I should keep data on how many lists and plans I make and then follow! Enjoy your break...I love your channel.
I guess I should say "you're welcome" to your gracious comments near the end. But I don't watch your videos to be kind! I watch because they are so good!! Helpful information, relevant insights, and you are just an interesting person. Thank you for all that you offer us in your videos!
I 100% agree with you regarding the color analysis. I had one done many years ago when I was in my early 30s and have decided that I would select what I felt looked best on me from that point on and it has not disappoint me. I agree that everyone should do whatever is best for them (color analysis or not). You’ve had a great year and looking forward to seeing more from you in 2024! Happy new year! 🎉
yeah there was a lot i left out of my research but one point that i really resonated with is that you are more likely to shine in colors that you like and feel good in. so is it really about the objective "analysis" or is it that you just look better because you feel more confident and happy in the colors you are wearing? happy new year to you as well!
I love your style Sarah and I love how you stay true to you. You're adventurous and try new things and if you like them you add them and if not you are happy to discard them. Well done on sticking to your goals. Your dyed top is gorgeous, Michelle did a great job. Happy 2024 to you, may your dreams come true.❤
I really enjoy your videos, thank you 🙏. Re colour/analysis, I think that wearing clothes that make you feel good, whatever the colour palette, is positive. Life’s too short to follow prescriptive advice, especially if it doesn’t feel right for you personally.
Hi Sarah thank you for sharing - I love your vlogs and style. It’s been a tough year for you personally and I just wanted to say I enjoy your content. Look after yourself xxxx
I love the colors of you top today! I hope you have a great break. I had a busy October thru December. I am now going back to catch up on my vloggers. Thank you for all your videos. Wear what you want! The blush looks great!
I absolutely agree with you! I also have olive skin and many of my colors are drab and do NOT appeal to me. I buy fabric because I like it and I can’t wait to sew it up and wear it! I so enjoy your channel and hope you keep doing what you do!
Hello! I wanted to thank you for your video. I felt very connected to your way of viewing your decisions on style and colour choices. Also, I enjoyed and was interested in your ability to compare your makes and fabric/pattern purchases from previous years which helped you review your history and consider your future direction clearly. As the saying goes; you need a “map” to know where you’ve been to enable you to consider where you are going. Very inspiring! Thank you!
Hi Sara! Great video, I truly believe that we should sew and wear what brings us joy. I can relate to your no fussy style. Wishing you a happy new year.😊
I love your channel, your honesty and research into topics is so informative. I have reflected on my makes and assessed my wardrobe after watching your videos and it’s really helped me. Thank you
Happy New Year Sara! Thank you for doing such a fabulous job on your channel. I know that you are always trying to keep it interesting and relevant and I appreciate it! Have a restful and refreshing break and I hope 2024 is a great year for you and your hubby!
I have been watching your channel for a while now and I so appreciate your honest approach to the topics you discuss, be that a pattern review or other type of experiment like the colour analysis and body typing. I was typed as an autumn years ago and I am trying to incorporate the colours more in to my wardrobe which is generally very neutral. I quite enjoy it for helping me expand my choices, so kind of the opposite effect to you. It’s all so individual. The body typing is a complete fail for me, I don’t fit in to any particular category or shape which initially made me wonder is there something wrong with my body, then I concluded it was all made up by a man to make money out of women’s insecurities so I no longer feel bad 😂 My only sewing resolution is to sew more, as I had an accident that put me out of action for weeks (in a splint) this year, am so happy to get back to it! Happy New Year! 😊
you are probably right about Kibbe--i've heard that he's gotten more gatekeep-y about typing as he's gotten older. i hope that you are feeling better and are back to sewing soon!
Another great video! I do mostly follow a color palette. I don't wear pinks, purples and the like nor do I wear pastels. I do like warmer tones and a few brighter colors. I am an autumn palette and I enjoy wearing those colors. Body typing myself has been a complete fail and it doesn't help that my body has changed a lot since menopause. Like you, I enjoy simple styles. Basics with a little bit of something without being fussy. I'm on the bohemian side rather than classic but not ridiculous. I enjoy loose, a bit of flow but not crazy because at my age I don't need to get tangled in my clothing and break a hip😅
Thanks so much for sharing your sewing journey with us! As you add all of those garments to your wardrobe, do you struggle with saying goodbye to some of your favorites?
i usually put things in storage for awhile before getting rid of them. so no, by the time i'm ready to part with things i'm pretty sure that they aren't for me.
Hi Sara. Good job completing the 102 projects you've done. I love your videos and the top you're wearing. Enjoy your well deserved time off. Have a safe and Happy New Year! Lori 🥰
Thanks and happy new year! That is a lot of clothes to make for yourself about 3-4 different wardrobes. I love sewing clothes but bought some things to tide me over until my numerous abdominal surgical scars stop being so painful. Would have loved to sewn them but I was bedridden until recently and am now starting to walk again and can sit up for 2-4 hours at a time. For 2024, I have some slacks, silky blouses, overcoat, knickerbockers, gauchos, vests and 2-3 knit tops. Should tide me over until the bulk of my clothes wear out in another 2-3 years.
I adore that sweater on you! I love watching your videos and your candor is refreshing. And I like your thoughts on colour analysis. I think it's generally helpful but I don't want to pay someone to tell me what's what since I know if they don't tell me what I already think, I'll not believe that and be mistrustful of the results 🤣
Happy New Year 🎉 Thank you for your videos. I love how you present them and especially your honest appraisals. That is often a rare thing in the 'perfect' world of social media. Your stats on the percentage of fabric and patterns purchased and used was very interesting. I am going to keep a record this year and see where I'm at with usage.
Totally agree with you on color and style Sarah, life is too short to be hampered by that box. I really enjoy your vlogs, thank you and best wishes for the new year. I am trying to whittle down my fabric and pattern stash, and not be led astray by the next shiny thing! Take care😊
I am letting go of Make 9 too. It just doesn't work for me. I made a goal at the beginning of 2023, I think I made two of the items, and then forgot about it. I do better with making a smaller goal, like making 3 items in a mini-collection. I don't do well with the bigger goals because it immediately feels not fun anymore, which is the opposite of what I need with my creative process. I love how Michelle dyed that sweatshirt, it is beautiful! Those colors are amazing on you. Happy New Year!
i pretty much feel the same way. what i want to make in the beginning of a year may be totally different from what i want at the end. i think that's what has made it feel like a chore in the past.
thank you! i will do a winter plans video eventually, but right now i'm working on a Butterick blazer. i'll probably post about it some on my instagram stories.
You get an "A" for your programs in 2023. I certainly appreciated watching them.
i'm so glad that you liked it! thanks for watching.

just so your list of lists can also get lost to the winds of time? 😂
HI Sara! Thanks for a year of great videos. I may not always comment, but I do always watch. I really enjoy your channel!
thank you, Carol! I appreciate it.
Really like your videos, thoughtful and intelligent. Have a good rest and come back soon.
Thank you! I appreciate that.

isn't it fantastic?
I love your 'Michelle-dyed' top! Great collab! Happy New Year!

Wow, thank you!
Hi. I just love your sweatshirt! Thank you for presenting a wonderful channel. Looking forward to 2024. Have a restfull time off.
Thank you so much for sharing. I enjoy watching your channel and am amazed at the number of items you finished this past year.
i'm a tiny bit ashamed of it. just glad it was fewer projects than the year before.
I think it's awesome that you are able to sew that many garments. I also like the way you style them.
Hi Sarah thank you for sharing - I love your vlogs and style. It’s been a tough year for you personally and I just wanted to say I enjoy your content. Look after yourself xxxx
thank you so much for thinking of me. I appreciate it.
Love your transformed sweatshirt! It is important to wear things that make you happy. Happy new year.

@@knottygnome happy new year Sara!

exactly! collecting data is one thing but if you don't ever do anything with that knowledge it's useless. thanks for watching!
Love your pink top❤!!!
Hi Sara! Great video, I truly believe that we should sew and wear what brings us joy. I can relate to your no fussy style. Wishing you a happy new year.😊
So true! thank you 🙏
Love the magenta-fuschia-pink sweater on you. Perhaps a collab on how this was dyed?
you'd have to ask @MichelleSewsAgain i have no idea!
Happy New Year 🎆🎊

i'm so glad! thank you.
I hope the new year brings you new joy. Thank you for sharing your reflections. ❤️
thank you, Melanie! same to you.
So glad you found a hack to the colour analysis, I'm going to try this and just wear blusher😊
to be fair i think it's only supposed to work if you have olive skin. good luck!
Happy New Year Sara! Thank you for doing such a fabulous job on your channel. I know that you are always trying to keep it interesting and relevant and I appreciate it! Have a restful and refreshing break and I hope 2024 is a great year for you and your hubby!
