I really enjoy this type of video because you identify why something did or didn't work. Fabric choice is often my nemesis, so it makes me feel better to know that I'm not the only one who sometimes doesn't get the fabric choice right. Honestly, it's almost always with bottoms that I make a poor choice, I don't know if that's because I've made more tops so have more experience in choosing or whether it's because the weight of the fabric for pants and skirts vary so much. I hope you are feeling better.
i definitely think it can be tricky getting the right combo of pattern style and fabric drape/sturdiness. i can think of several instances in the past where i went wrong there. if it doesn't hang right on your body it's going to look bad in my experience.
I really enjoy you and your channel so much and would love to just watch you sew. No talking needed, not a tutorial, just watching as you go. Thank you! Happy holidays ❤
thanks for the suggestion. TBH I don't see myself doing that as I would find it tedious to produce but maybe if i ever run out of other ideas. 😂
Never too early for this type of video! You’ve had some great hits this year, I especially love (all) the Landers, the dungarees and the cardigan ❤ Very professional looking garments and really suit you too 😊
Glad you like them!
The knit sweater with the shiny, black pants is 🔥🔥🔥, Sara! 💗
thank you very much, Andra!
Congrats on all your makes!! Thank you for analyzing the reasons for the fails, esp around fabric choice. That’s the area where I usually have problems.
glad you found it helpful!
Really enjoyed this. I think the clothes you are making now are more considered and really suit you! ❤
thank you!
Sara, thanks for another informative video. That Ozetta cardigan is fantastic on you. I’d never think to pair something like that with pleather pants - knockout outfit.
i love putting faux leather with textured knits. one of my favorite combos
Love seeing you SA Hope dress. I have one and intend to make more. I feel very feminine in it, and I find dresses (midi or maxi length) to be so much more comfortable than shorts in hot weather.
it's a lovely pattern!
I so enjoy your vlog. As a fellow 4'9" er, I like to see the styles that work for you! Also was excited to learn we live in the same state! I'm I'm the Southern Adirondacks! Thanks for all your input!
Being extra short can be challenging. it's always nice to find others who are in the same boat.
I'm glad to hear you like the Riley overalls - I just bought that pattern when it was on sale for Black Friday. I'm planning on making a shorts version :)
it's a fun one to sew!
Even though you had some failures, I enjoyed the makes of all of your garments.❤
Thanks for watching!
Great video as usual 😉
thank you!
Ozetta's designs are modern classics aren't they! I have several in my queue - it's just a matter of deciding which one to knit first!
I am learning... don't buy crappy fabric😢
True Bias patterns do well on you 🎉
Enjoyed watching the successes & even some of the failures -- I'm sympathizing with you, not laughing, because we all have sewing failuresand misses. I'm glad you finally found a good-fitting shorts/crops/pants pattern -- the True Bias pattern. In this and earlier videos I've watched you experiment with other pants patterns and be unhappy with the results.
Yes! that feels really good.
Your videos also give so much information and good insight---thank you for your work!
You are very welcome!
Love this video ❤
Glad you liked it!
I always enjoy your videos. Merry Christmas!
thanks for watching!
Make chambray overalls!
Great video! I feel better now about the stupid lightweight knit kimono I spent hours and hours hand-basting all the edges on b/c it was the only way it would agree to be sewn - never even wore it once as the weird fabric stuck to everything I had on like some kind of fabric saran wrap and nothing could make it stop sticking to my clothes...
oh man, i hate that! it happens to all of us.
ohhhh! so sorry about your kimono project. But your description gave me a good laugh.
😁@@lynnlynn2661
Great video! You’re definitely inspiring me to try the Lander Pants and Riley Overalls.
if you do, i hope you love them as much as i do!
Thanks for sharing. I think that midi looks better on you but you need to suit yourself.
One thing I do if I'm not going to do a mock up is to create 1 inch seam allowances, then it can be taken in or let out as needed before sewing the final seam. I especially do this for sleeves. My measurements have me draft sleeve patterns X way and the same with commercial patterns, but I find that is too tight. It doesn't account for arm shape. So the extra seam allowance helps out and I do two rows of stitching for gathering to ease it in. I also have the 1 inch seam allowance for knit skirts to make sure it will be enjoyable to wear.
I'm currently working on Daughter Judy Coe trousers. I added a bit to the back in the middle of the seat so that it sits right. I have a flat butt so I shouldn't have that issue.
yes, I remember you suggesting that on another video--thanks.
@@knottygnome you're welcome. Wearing ease often isn't put into the patterns. Another thing is to pivot the bottom 1/2 inch to 2 inches away from the fold or straight cut line on the skirts to add that ease.
Make another Hope dress! It’s on my list ❤
Don’t by crappy fabric is a lesson 😂
absolutely!
