    So obsessed with your trench. The length, the fit, the lining, the color!!! ❤ I'm excited for you to get into the cooler months again to be able to wear it with pride.
    Love the topstitching on your jeans. They look great. I'm forever getting the button placement wrong and genuinely never considered marking the button placement while I'm wearing it. So clever. Thanks for that tip!

    Bravo for taking the time to make repairs which enable you to actually wear and enjoy wearing your me made clothes. The red trench is fabulous 🤩. It suits you well and looks well worth the wait and effort. Your Jude jeans look great too!
    Also, a suggestion for your pants length issues. Take a pair or two or three of the lengths you like wearing and measure the inseams. Make note of the lengths and type of pants….then next time you get a pattern out measure the inseam and make the length adjustments then. You could possibly do the same with your thigh measurements. Thank you for sharing!

      thank you for the suggestion. i actually did do this--but in this case i think the legs have to stretch out so much that it makes them shorter on the body than when they are lying flat. i also find that length measurements on the paper pattern in general are different from what they end up as in fabric. i don't know if that is an error on my part but it does happen fairly regularly for me.

      @@knottygnome interesting. I tend not to make skin tight or stretch pants … or many pants for that matter but it makes sense for them to creep up if over tight. Guess you could always add an inch or two then remove it if too much, definitely easier than adding on.😉

    Your trench coat is fabulous! Your make makes me want to purchase this pattern, but I have a similar Vogue pattern that I'll try first. I LOVE the lining of your new coat. Seeing all that flower power makes me happy, even from the screen. Laughs. Congratulations. You're a very thoughtful, analytical sewist. So am I. You detailed critiques encourage me to more dive deeper into what I like/don't like about my makes. Thx for sharing.

    Wow! I would have been impressed with jeans and a coat all in one month, but both are so well done! (Maybe my machine needs to spend a month at the spa to help motivate me.) I was duly impressed with all the mending, but that pales in comparison to your jeans and coat. I do love that shade of red on you, and your coat is really stunning. Of course you're going to wear those jeans to death, but I know that coat is going to bring a smile to your face every single time you put it on. Congratulations on such a successful month!

    Thanks for sharing this video. I really enjoyed it immensely. Glad you could fix the projects that been sitting in your basket for a while. Both look well on you. I think if you do the jeans again, that you can trace the pattern and add an extra 1/2" to each side and that should fix your fit issues.
    The best one is the red trenchcoat. I love it! The lining brings it to the next level and then some. Definitely doesn't look like it came from the store. My highest compliment. It looks good on you and I love the longer length which is hard to find when shopping ready to wear.
    I plan on cutting out a skirt from black ponte knit today. It will have an elastic waistband. Despite having a flat butt, I have to add room in the seat and have the back hem about 1 1/2" longer than the front. I just automatically do it when cutting.

    • @knottygnome
      @knottygnome  2 місяці тому +1

      thank you! i agree that longer coats are almost impossible to buy (for me, anyway). thank you for the tip on the skirt length.

      @@knottygnome only time I can buy a longer coat is if I find a vintage one or buy it from Europe. The other alternative is to sew my own. I'm still wearing the wool/mohair blend duffle coat that I made when I was 19 and in college. It is starting to get worn after 38 years. I have plans for a new winter coat and it will be a longer one. It gets cold waiting for the bus in the winter. Also planning on a longer trench coat too.

    Amazing work!! 👏🥳 I love how you chose such a fun, vibrant pattern for the lining of your coat! 😻 The fabric you used for your jeans worked really well. Despite the high amount of stretch, it doesn’t make them look like jeggings! 👍👍 For your wrap dress, you could always make a simple pair of elastic waist shorts in one of the colors found in the fabric pattern. Wearing them underneath the dress would provide more comfort/security and make it like a faux skort style romper! 😊

    • @knottygnome
      @knottygnome  2 місяці тому +1

      thanks for the suggestion about the shorts! i have been thinking about making some booty bike shorts for that purpose, but i haven't gotten around to it yet.

    I completely understand your feelings about your new red coat...it's fantastic! After seeing your alteration successes, I'm inspired to get to My Basket. Thank you. Also, did you make your white, knit eyelet dress? If so, would you share the pattern, please? The SOI dress could have a very flat ruffle or a band, given how busy the print is...or you can keep your hands at your sides 😆
