  • In this video Terry (my non-keto wife) and I try out three different brands of keto honey substitutes: All-U-Lose, Wholesome Yum, and Nature's Hollow. Additionally, I test my glucose response and let you know if there was any impact. None of these are cheap, but are any worth your money?

Thank you for including Wholesome Yum Keto Honey! I appreciate the feedback on the label... the bottle is small so it was hard to fit it all in, but I will see if there's something we can do to improve that. (Yes, 100% of the total carbs in it are from allulose.) Regarding the aftertaste, we actually reduced the amount of monk fruit in it recently to reduce that aftertaste you experienced. :) Can't wait to see if you end up using it in recipes like you mentioned!

I was using Pyure brand “honey”, but they’ve quit making it... I tried the All-U-Lose, but it’s just flavored water to me... then I found the Wholesome Yum... it feels AND tastes like HONEY!!! it now resides on my dining table lazy susan, and I eat it almost every breakfast, drizzled on one of my homemade oat fiber buns, that I’ve toasted, and spread with peanut butter... pnb&h!!!
I never thought I’d be able to indulge in that combo ever again in my life, and it doesn’t spike me...❤️

We do not have dogs, but I had made a decision on principle not to buy ingredients like xylitol that could accidentally kill pets. (Even though it's in most of our toothpaste products, including the one I need to use.)
Then, a friend gave me Nature's Hollow Mountain Berry jam and I was pretty impressed. At the holidays, I took advantage of a 50% off "TRY ME" coupon code and ordered their sampler jam package of 6 flavors, the honey, the ketchup and the bbq sauce.
    My favorites in this order:
    The jams
    The honey
    Mediocre to me:
    The ketchup, the bbq
This honey....it was a dark horse win for me. I really didn't even need a honey substitute. No aftertaste at all. I love that I now have a quick liquid, neutral sweetener like this. It's become kind of that go-to squirt into an entree, a dressing, a mayo-based salad like cole slaw where I want a quick hit of sweetness. Even for marinara sauce where the sauce tastes a tad too acidic.
Regarding honey texture and appearance....I never noticed the issues mentioned in the video. I have no issues with mouth-feel, appearance, cooling, etc. I actually like that it's thick, that means I can squeeze it into something and not worry about making that something runny. That's especially great when making bbq sauce or a meat glaze, because a lot of the ingredients (like vinegar) are very runny. I am grateful to have something that doesn't spike my blood sugar and adds an option to my pantry.
For those interested in the jams by this company (a review, Steve?) The apricot jam, I would buy, even ahead of many regular sugar brands. I believe all of the jams are just 2-3 net carbs per T. I don't eat a lot of jam, but I have found that the flavor is good enough that one T is more than enough for me on keto toast. No weird tastes. I use the apricot for glazing meats, desserts and on keto toast. I gave the sampler box of 6 as gifts and one low-carb/keto couple has reordered multiple times. The strawberry and raspberry do not have impressive coloration, but the taste is nice and I know it's at least one of my friends' favorite. Others love the Mountain Berry & The Peach. My favorite is strongly in camp apricot....a flavor not easy to get on keto.

I use the Wholesome Yum brand. If you eat it off the spoon you do get a slight aftertaste, but when used in a recipe you only get the honey taste. We have dogs and cats and I refuse to have Xylitol in the house - accidents can too easily happen.

Thank you for being so careful around your animals. When I found out about Xylitol, I also banned it from my universe and went around warning other Keto people about it.
I use the Wholesome Yum myself, and it impresses me in sugar-free yogurt and on keto biscuits.
      Edit: In hot tea, too!

I really wished they bannef Xylitol altogether. Sugar free gum has it and my dogs on walks try to pick up food or gum from floor. It takes the smallest amount to kill your dog and the emergency trip will set you back 8000 dollars.

Little piece of advice for those hard to read labels, take a picture of it and blow it up on your phone.
I have only found the natures hollow ‘honey’ where I am in Canada. It is supposed to be refrigerated after opening and it has clumps of crystallized sweetener. For $8 for that tiny container Id expect better product. Taste wise its okay IMO but Im not a fan of xylitol either.

Hi Steve... I recently adapted an old Weight Watcher recipe called Honey Pecan Chicken using the Nature's Hollow honey and your breading recipe to substitute for corn flakes. The honey wasn't as sweet as regular honey so I added some swerve. It came out almost identical to the original recipe. I too am not thrilled that it has the xylitol, however it doesn't seem to affect my stomach and Believe it or not I am allergic to Allulose. More products seem to be using allulose for sweetener these days. I agree it tastes great in baked goods, but I feel like I'm going to pass out within 30 seconds after eating it. Keep up the reviews... Very informative and appreciated.

Per the website and blown up big there are 16g carbs with 10g fiber on wholesome yum. Way
    TOO much

No excuse for the horrible label, but I often have to take a picture of small print and then zoom in with my phone.

I tried the Nature's Hollow and one other one called Pyure Harmless Hunny. It contains soluble tapioca fiber and is sweetened with Stevia. They were both OK, but not something I would crave. Thanks for the review.

First - I feel the same way about small print and white letters on black background. Just = No! As usual, Terry's face says it all. I find that most "keto" reviewers approach products "hoping" that they taste good. I appreciate the non-keto perspective. That said - thanks again for another great video!

When the print is too small for me, I end up taking a picture of it with my phone and enlarge it. Or if I really am interested I will check out the website.

My cheat on reading tiny print is to take a picture with my phone and then enlarge it on my screen. People do look at me funny when I do that at the grocery store.

Now we wait to hear if the xylitol upset Your innards; praying it doesn't.
It has always been my go to Best sweetener.
Only one I will use in my coffee where MUST be NO taste.
Though I have a friend who swears it tastes artificial to her with an after taste.
Thank You Terri! I'm heading to 'the amazon' ;-) & ordering from Your store!! I'm sold!!
If the texture is too gross maybe I can cut with RX sugar plain allulose syrup??
Love their maple one too! Yes wholesomeyum is better but a LOT more expensive.
Though I can't see just eating honey these days with my sweet need mostly dormant; will just be in recipes.
GREAT review!! MORE blessings upon You all!!

Related to other vids where you said people bash you for trying things. I love how you go out of your way to be very transparent and clear. Can't see why someone would call you out. As far as the honey WIN WIN ! Once again your vids are making me salivate and can't wait to get to my kitchen reno.

TY 4 this review! Nature's Hollow is the only one I've been able to find in Canada (first discovered on Amazon, then found it at much better price at Sugar-free and More Store in Edmonton), so now if the others show up, i know not to bother with them. So this is very helpful to me!

Wish we could easily get allulose over here really interested in its caramalisation properties, seems that it hasn't been approved yet, so we can only import through ebay/amazon, which is expensive. Hate how 95% of low/zero cal syrups are way way to runny. Like horrible glue, it's the only one with honey consistency, honey is extremely thick. But slime is an issue.
