Steve, completely agree. Crust makes or breaks a pizza. No cardboard, no crackers, no bready thick crusts please. And oh, goodness, the video ending is priceless! It's tasty!!!!
I totally agree that the dough makes or breaks a pizza, this coming from a former sourdough pizza crust lover.( I used to make it regularly, but nowadays only once every 2 months. Thank you for another great video.
Good afternoon Steve. I just purchased an air fryer and was wondering if you could do a video of some good keto recipes. Unsure of recipes I can trust and so of course I thought of you. Thank you for all you do.🙏
I wish it didn't have erythritol. I know it's not a problem for most people but it does not play nicely with IBS. I treasure (and patronize!) those keto producers who avoid sugar alcohols.
Steve, watching this 5 months after you posted this. Made store bought pizza dough pizza last night. It felt so heavy. Hubs needs to lose some weight. Definitely going to give this a try. Thank you for all your hard work both time and wear on your body.
One of these day (or weeks), I plan to experiment with this mix some more. I'd really like to see what happens if vital wheat gluten is added. I'll definitely post my results when the time comes.
Tried the buns...now the pizza crust. The overall taste is really good. I'm wondering if I could make garlic bread sticks or but them in the oven longer for crackers. Husband like it as well but suggested I make a thinner crust. I doesn't make a difference to me.. boy I got full quick. Whole milk mozzarella cheese, real pepperoni, onions, red pepper and Italian seasoning. Good to go .. will buy again.
I turned to Flat Out Italian wraps for my pizza crust. I brush both sides with oil and air fry in my Breville @ 290 for 6 min; cool; top and bake @ 380 for 12 min. I wanted something simpler/quicker than their dough. Flat out may not be Keto, but it works for me being Type 2.
Steve, give this dough a try directly on your pizza steel at 550. Roll out your dough and lube your pizza peel with lupin flour, works a lot like corn meal. Don’t blind bake it, too after rolling out and straight into the oven.
The maker of Sooo Ketolicious pizza crust is from Ottawa, Ontario Canada where I am from. I agree with you, they are one of the BEST crusts and she also makes dessert crusts.
I make this mix all the time! Love it! I make a big sheet pan pizza and it feeds the whole family with leftovers. One time I accidentally put a half of a cup of water instead of 1/4 cup and I liked it better so been making it that way ever since 😊
About 3 or 4 years ago I was very serious on keto and lost 45 lbs. I started adding the carbs back to my life and slowly the weight came back. I am thinking about restarting back on keto again and your channel has given me some inspiration. Thank you.
I consider keto an anti-inflammatory diet.. the older I get the more my body enjoys keto.. my knees are much happier...not waking me up at night.. I'm kinda thinking I just have to be keto.. the fact that I'm not hungry really helps me stay on keto.. I remember being on the blood type diet and being ravenous.. good luck
My experience with "real" dough on the baking steel is that removing the paper only causes the bottom of the crust to get darker; it does not make the dough noticeably crispier. I have one more bag and I'll try removing the parchment halfway through the baking just to test.
@@SeriousKeto I’m interested to see , but then, that’s why I subscribed a couple of years ago. 👍 It was just a thought. I have a pizza stone, so maybe that’s a difference too.
I use what I assume is a fat head dough from a keto crescent dog recipe for pizza now. It’s chewy and firm enough to pick up a piece. (1 oz cream cheese, 3/4 c almond flour, 1 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese. Microwave 1 - 1/2 minutes to lightly melt cheese then add 1 large egg. Roll in between wax paper to desired thickness/size, poke with a fork, brush with oil, bake about 20 minutes until brown, top and bake your toppings.)
Order placed and just got the email it is shipped and on the way...maybe Pizza for the weekend!!!! Thanks for looking into all this stuff for us Steve. Thanks for posting.
I don't know why you couldn't. Depending on the size of the mini pizzas, I think you could probably make 8 or thereabouts. You could also par-bake the crusts then freeze them for later use.
The crust is the most important part of the pizza and even with flour making a good crust is extremely difficult. However if you are on Keto, you have to make some compromises. Thanks for testing these products out for us so we can come as close as possible. As a bread loving Italian American, Keto can be difficult. Not everyday, to to think of never having certain foods again is hard. How about some bruschetta?
Great review Steve and I was so excited to try the pizza crust and delighted to see you have a 20% discount code. There was only one thing that stopped me from ordering. As I live in Canada a $79.00 order had a duty and tax charge of over $42.00. Wow 😮 Maybe one day there won’t be such a huge discrepancy in prices between Canada and the USA. In the meantime I will continue to watch your videos and enjoy all of the great recipes and the reviews you work so hard on for all of your subscribers. PS I got the lupin flour and will be baking with it this weekend. Take care Steve you are amazing.
You're probably not going to love this long answer, but.... I feel the flavor winner is the Keto Bakes mix by a a tiny bit I feel the texture winner is Black Tie crust 2.0 Easiness goes to Sooo Ketolicious (it's also my preferred one to eat cold leftovers) Overall, it's a toss-up between Black Tie and Keto Bakes. The KB is easier to make and I think with a little vital wheat gluten added, it could really be great (experiment forthcoming). If you don't mind putting in a little extra work, I think I'd give the edge to the BTK crust.
I'll have two try this for me I never like fat head dough for pizza I try almond flour and conut flour More then once always have odd dry grainy mouth feel and cheese way over powering to me !
Looks yummy, was going to order but $36.00 for shipping to Canada is too much for me. Our countries need to do a better job with shipping rates. Enjoy!!
Big fan of thin, crunchy pizza crust, but I am a native NY'er. One of the few things I missed when I left NY was the traditional NY style pizza. Since keto I've missed the "fun" of pizza, but certainly not the carbs. I'd be interested to know if the crust mix gave you any gastric distress? That's my biggest issue with keto packaged goods. They all have chicory root, or some other sort of funky fiber or sugar replacement, and most of them really mess with my belly.
Now that we have a better understanding of the high oxalate levels in the almond flour and the tomato sauce, does that give you any pause in eating those foods?
Natural flavor can mean a lot of things. If you’re opposed to it, that’s your decision. If you buy something in a package, odds are pretty good it will contain natural flavors.
*Thank you for this great review* 🍕
Thanks for the great review.
Great video ! Beautiful family !
Love their cinnamon rolls too
I have a pouch but haven't made it yet (that will be a future review).
It’s ALL about the crust!!! 🍕🍕🍕

Perfect timing!

I’ve bought there sandwich bun mix, and really liked that. I’ll have to try there pizza mix now. Thanks for the review!

Crust IS pizza, toppings are superfluous
Thanks for the review Steve, we just placed an order with your discount. Looking forward to trying this.

I'll never understand the people who say the crust on pizza doesn't matter... its at least 50% of the reason to eat pizza lol
The crust was and has been my favorite part of a pizza and has definitely been my make or break factor when returning to certain pizza joints.
Yep, add a couple layers of these "crust doesn't matter" pizzas and that gives you lasagna. IF that were the case. Eggplant bake. Etc etc
I love to see your family members join in!
I am destined for carnivore/veggie diet I guess since I do not like nut flours and cauliflower gives me the screaming poops, but man I miss pizza!
I am all about the crust!
We put a ring of cheese around the cast iron one. It kinda reminded me of the Original Pan Pizza, from Pizza Hut.
Nice!
I also deduct sugar alcohols which makes it 1 net carb for me. Thanks Steve!💖
Thanks Steve, I'm going to try it!

Unless it's New York style, I agree.
I’m thinking that baking on parchment paper kind of steamed it, and kept it from getting crispy. Looked yummy though. I’m excited.
Possibly

When you cook in your air fryer, are you actually cooking on the air fry setting or on a bake setting? Thx in advance for you response :-)

Just an aside, but you’re the only other person I’ve heard who says “good enough for government work!“ outside of a few of us from Philly.
I would love to try it but it's a bit expensive. I make pizza using low carb tortillas on the grill. Quite good if you're craving pizza.

Steve, could the “thin crust” be crispier without the paper underneath? I find the paper softer my pie crust in the past. Just a thought🤔🧐

Baking crust on a baking stone gives me a crispier crust. It works best if I preheat the stone and put the crust on the hot stone.

Can you make small mini pizzas and how many do you think I could get out of a package on the only keto person in my house

Just watched your other Keto Bakes videos and wonder if you can use this dough to make cinnamon rolls.
Have you shared the ratio of Raos to paste you use? Super curious
I just use a small can of tomato paste and about half a jar of Rao’s. It kind depends on how thick you like your sauce.

Nope. If it bothers you, don't eat it.
