I still remember the day this released. I was just sitting at home, on my laptop. It was after school, and I'd finished all of my work for the day so I was just relaxing, playing WoW and talking with my buddies about how awesome Wrath was going to be. They'd already started playing and I hadn't even pre-ordered the expansion, so I was just running around leveling. My dad walks in, home from work, and comes right into the den where I was hanging out with my brother and shows me a bag. Inside was the white box, the physical copy of the expansion. I couldn't believe it. I didn't think he'd pre-ordered it for me, or that he was even aware it was out, but he knew I absolutely loved WoW and bought the expansion for me. I spent the entire night playing before I had to go to bed for school the next day, but even in the morning I woke up early enough that I could continue playing.
If memory serves me right, they hired one of the fans who made machinima like this to be head of in game cinematics or something. I may be partly wrong, but pretty sure that happened.
They actually hired several guys during vanilla/BC time frame who created some decent fan made videos with this exact style. I have no idea how theyre doing now but they did a lot of the cutscenes or promo's you would see leading up to WOTLK for sure.

***** early S5 was super OP, melee cleaves, then it all "evolved" into harry potters. However, as a Holy Pally, it was all swell for the most part ^^ Healing was fine for the most part too, Dudus might had few issues afaik.
It's pretty amazing that the entire opening part of this trailer takes place just in Howling Fjord. Really shows how enormous each zone in this expansion was.
I thought this was this coolest thing ever when I first saw it. When WOTLK came out, I couldn't wait until I got home. I had so much anxiety when it started downloading, it took forever but I was the happiest little turd in the world. :)
Oh yes, two friends of mine received their discs a day early. I remember visiting one of them in the morning the next day before school, just so I could get a look at that sweet sweet death knight. There was a solemn feeling that whole day while our whole group of friends impatiently waited for school to be over for the day. We must've been 12 back then. Those were the days, haha
I really liked how the downloader gave you the story for the Human and Undead campaigns from Warcraft 3. Gave you something to read while everything installed.

I wish that to become a Death Knight, your main had to be sacrificed in a way such as this, where you are put in a no-win scenario against the Lich King's army, you eventually die, but get revived as a Death Knight. I know that people would be all sad about losing their main, but it really is how it should be, since its not a level 1 newbie, its a fallen hero.
Medicine Melancholy my paladin (total coincidence) was actually deleted to make my DK because I wanted the name my paladin had for my death knight, in a way he did die and come back as a death knight lol. Mind you this was back in wrath and I had that paladin throughout BC. was worth it though as pally was not my main at the time
If death knights ended up being like the SWG Jedis, that would have been amazing. I still mained a DK in wotlk, and would gladly sacrafice a toon to main one again if thats how it worked.
I disagree.... WotLK was the beginning of the downfall to me... Burning Crusade was the best expansion for me... but nothing will ever compare to the vanilla wow experience... ever

Your upset that you where not able to watch as you helplessly murdered the innocent, destroyed much of the beauty on azzeroth, and be one of the main forces taking down life as you knew it. I understand its a game and the mechanics are cool but you have to understand there would be no 3rd faction and if there was it would be a DK exclusive faction so no healers would be available and even if they added one we would have 0 fun after a year or 2, and then back to lore wise the faction would crumble after the death of the lich king or the lich king would live and then destroy the world ending WoW. To be honest im kinda glad we didnt get a 3rd faction and I hope we never do.
Eh, the healer part is not really a problem, Lich King ha all kinds of humanoids on his side, they had healers, then we just should get new races to play as. So that's not really a problem. And yes that would be fun, be the bad guys for once, the closest we get to bad guys might be the Warlock, lore wise, or the Death Knight. And yes, then Blizzard would have to make so the Lich King wins the battle at Northrend. It would be fun as a champion of evil, and do quests and wreak havoc upon Azeroth. And then making the next expansion a follow up where the remaining forces of good, do a last battle where they would kill the Lich King or something like that. But that would have Blizzard to change too much about the game.
Than Blizzard would recreate all the zones so DKs can walk there and quest there. 2 different ICCs; one were the LK survives and the other one were he dies. And Blizzard need to add ALOT of new quests just so DKs can enjoy the game.
I would just like to point out the only "destructible" buildings we got were the towers in Ulduar... and Siege Weapons were also in Ulduar... so they didn't quite deliver on that one.

Asked him about and he said without a doubt he’s buyin the expansion. From that moment on I geared. Having NOOOO idea that I was about to experience the greatest gaming experience of my lifetime. Back when Blizzard used real ingame models for their cinematics. Wrath of The Lich King is when the main Warcraft universe that began 12 years ago (by 2008) ended, when Arthas was defeated. What came after was the extended universe, like in Star Wars with the comics, games, and the series.

That was the original idea for the death knight class. I understand and agree that they didn't go that route, no matter how cool it would've been.

I remember being my freshman year of high school when this came. I was going through a lul period of playing. Was at orientation and saw my one friend that played. Asked him about and he said without a doubt he’s buyin the expansion. From that moment on I geared.
Having NOOOO idea that I was about to experience the greatest gaming experience of my lifetime.

If u pay attention, the video starts with Arthas voice, in the end it changes to a mixed between his and Ner'zhul.. he loses sanity over time, in the end the Arthas we once knew became this monster, and we alll loved it! *-*

I think lich king was my favorite expansion, probably because of all my interest in the lore.
Watching this right after the Legion reveal. This is what gives me the real goosebumbs.
Cloonie14 I agree man, I'm sad to admit but after watching this again I can't even be excited for Legion. It just feels like Blizzard used to care, invest and put so much more soul into the first expansions and now they're just making them for the sake of it.
