My shutter runs non stop when I use that battery gadget. So I can’t use it!! (I did drop my camera, so I need to check if there’s a fault with the camera.) normal battery is ok though.
Best UA-cam tech / camera channel by far. It always baffles me how these other inferior channels managed to accumulate so many more viewers than this channel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
I so agree with you, and I already told him the same thing! Sagi is PHENOMENAL and should be a total UA-cam Star. He's great on camera, great speaking voice, very giving with information and always concerned about the viewer. I'm a huge fan.
I have been looking for this bro, I could not find anything on it because you can't get rid of the focus box and the answer was in front of me the whole time. Once again you came to the rescue! Thanks again bro! If anyone is having issues downloading sparkocam use Edge.
One downside to connecting over USB is it's a huge res drop over running over HDMI. Canon has their own webcam utility that's free and also removes the autofocus, but I found the picture quality versus running through a capture card was a huge drop off, think it's limited to 1024-something due to the bandwidth limitations of USB 2.0
I was looking at the M50 but think I will wait for the rumored new version. Any news if this is going to be released this year? And do think it is worth the wait? Upgrading my Zoom life.
Always love your videos, clear, concise to the point with multiple options and alternatives. A quick question: are you using this setup for recording 'talking head videos' as well? I'm asking because I need to record both screen and my face for some videos and my 'default' camera quality is pretty average, so I was considering using my M50. I guess with the software you recommended, it shouldn't be a problem, right?
I initially bought a USB condenser mic when I first started looking into streaming without realizing it would pick up on everything from my keystrokes to the neighbor sneezing next door. I still had my old 1202 and Shure PG58 from high-school tucked into a closet so I'm using that now. Still working out the video aspect. Thanks for this!

Thanks so much for all of your videos about the M50. They've been incredibly helpful and thorough. I started using Sparkocam with my M50 but there's a bit of lag, and when I record there's delay with the audio. I have a nice laptop and have it optimized for video and audio editing. Any suggestions?
Thanks SO much for this video! 2 questions: it looks like sparkocam is only for Windows. Do you know of a Mac alternative? And if not, I think my only other alternative is to shut off the autofocus but I’m having a hard time finding how I can do that in the camera settings. (I’m a complete newbie to DSLRs so if anyone could explain the steps, I’d so appreciate it!)
I just purchased the M50 last week and I am still in the learning process. Your videos have helped me tremendously, simplifying what looked like a monumental task. One question, bear in mind I am a novice to live streaming et al, can the M50 record and live stream a broadcast at the same time? If not how can that be done. If you've done a video on this my apologies. I have subscribed and have been binge watching everything you've done with the M50. I especially liked the 2 parter on the video settings, excellent info. Thank you
Very helpful video. However, with my Canon M50 and OBS, there is still a noticeable latency between audio and video. I can adjust the Audio offset to 291 ms when I am recording only on OBS. But when I try to output OBS to Streamyard or Zoom the latency returns despite by 291 ms offset. I appreciate your help.

Hey Sagi, that was fantastic. I'm totally ignorant regarding live streaming. One person advised me once to do some, but at the end I never did it. Hi I am a subscriber. All this stuff is a lot for me to learn here. I have the Canon M50 and learnt a lot from your videos. I need to Live stream an event at the end of the mont but I am lost Lol. I just bought a Cam link capture card and now I have camera and capture card and am lost. Shouldn't I just take it back and buy a logitech web cam?
This is an odd question but if I want to send HDMI out to a monitor just so that I can see it on another screen will that change the recording going on inside the camera?
Thanks for the video! I just bought an M50 to use as an upgrade to my streaming set up from the Logitech Brio. For audio, I am using a Shure 5575LE dynamic mic through a GoXLR. I think it sounds great, and hey it looks wicked retro cool! Very helpful, and timely video!!
Great video as always!! I use ATEM mini connects the M50 with HDMI I have a questions: - how to I avoid black out in every 29 mins without reactive the camera. I want to use the camera for 2 to 3 hours live streaming. Hope that you can help
I mean everyone else who publishes the M50 live stream set up duct tapes everything together and is hard to understand, I'm excited to watch your video and share 🙌📷
I’m a little confused. Maybe I missed it. I’ve watched you video a couple times and not sure about something. It looks like you’re using the micro usb AND the mini hdmi. Why? With sparkocam, does it matter which one you use or do you use the other to keep auto focus? Thanks for the info!!!
Great video! Noob here.. I'm looking at live streaming my M50 with the rode wireless go, so how would I go about the audio for that? Meaning, how or where would I plug the transmitter? The audio jack on my pc? No such thing as a dumb question, and I need to know. So no snide comments needed from others, I just need an answer. Thanks so much!
Been using EOS Utility for my M50 for awhile now but finally caved and got a cam link 4k to move away from the 576p resolution but im having some issues with the output ether randomly freezing or shutting off at the 30 minute mark. do you have any solutions since i cant seem to get the utility working via usb at the same time as using HDMI out ether.
SparkoCam is expensive for only the use of gett rid of the overlay, do you know any other app that has the option to do the same??? Very good video!! On point with everything, thanks!
Hi TGT, thanks for all the m50 tips. Your videos were among those that influenced me to make the purchase. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the world. Just starting to use my Canon EOS M50 for shooting UA-cam videos via HDMI, and this autofoc box is so annoying that I’m just considering upgrading my camera atp 😅
good video though. Maybe one question as regards streaming with this: How to turn off "deactivating"? camera is shutting down after 16 mins. Although I deactivated eco mode and stuff camera still turns out and I need to reboot it manually. this is very bad for a stream
Been waiting for this one. Big thank you. I used the Rode SmartLav+ for a while and was happy with it becauee I have a background in music production so I was able to make it work in post. Now, upgraded to VideoMic Pro+
@@TechGearTalk i like it, the low end is a bit deeper than what I like, but the overall quality is great and allows me to play around with it a lot in post. Got the extension cable too so that I can mount it on a stand and use it as a overhead mic, figured out pretty quickly that the subject needs to be fairly close to the mic though, so it's back on the cam haha.
What is your workflow with the EOS app? Do you record with manual focus and use the app to set focus first? Or you just use it to keep the camera running.
I use auto focus but as I said I've had tons of issues with the camera freezing no matter what I use. I have cam link I have had spark cam and I used the EOS app. Nothing has made my camera not freeze!!
Thanks for sharing, my audio choice is Zoom H5 or H6. You have both microphone and audio mixer/recorder in a single solution. Also waiting to see rode videomic ntg
Thanks for your video. I use the Samson G-Track Pro as my microphone. With the new EOS Utility Webcam app, what's the max resolution I can get from USB into OBS on the M50?

Thanks so much this video. Please can you share list of budget canon cameras with Clean HDMI i can get to start up my livestream biz?...... Thank you in advance
Just watched... Trialling the new Canon EOS Webcam Utility at the moment for this, so the software-side of things (as per your more recent video), but the fact that there's a hole in the battery door... I seriously thought that the external power hookup kits required drilling a hole in the door... Thanks for fixing that misconception!
I'm new to this. Next week I am going to begin live streaming for a local university. I have a MacBook Pro. Will the Canon m50 work? Do I need adaptors or plug in too?
Glad you found it. The 11-22 is good because it's wider - the downside is that it's not very fast, so you don't get as much separation (shallow depth of field) and it's not as good in low light.
Using a Samson q2u as a mic and it's a great affordable option that has both coax and usb connection. Soundcard and interface: Creative sound blaster EA-9. My camera is a Sony A5100 house with a Meike 25mm F/1.8 lens, a great "cheap" setup, for streaming that lets in a ton og light and you get that blurry (bokeh) background effect.
So I have the M50 Mark One, and I am struggling with this autofocus rectangle. Sparko Cam only works with PC and Im on a mac. I guess I will have to use it without autofocus? I Running the EOS utility fixes the 30min stop, but its a bit off a hassle to connect to it every time over wifi. Thnx for taking the time.
Love ur videos. Bought M50 after i cleared my doubts by watching ur videos. Could you please tel if there is a way to directly record video from M50 into computer.
Glad I could help! Yes, if you use OBS (FREE streaming software) you can hit "start recording" instead of "start streaming" and it will record to the computer. Hope that helps.
I meant, manual focus (but good to hear that you're shooting in manual exposure!) If you have face tracking on and you don't see the indicator, then you're getting the feed from the Sparkocam and are not getting anything from the CamLink.
Ok so this is the struggle I'm having. I want to get the HDMI out out for quality and also have a clean HDMI feed. Do I need to run a USB cable and HDMI cable to be able to do this? I'm running the HDMI through the Elgato HDS+. I am using SparkoCam.
A seems to be HDMI and B is SparkoCam? Or is it? 😅 SC seems to be quite good anyway or how do you think about it? Isn't it basically a camera's “live view“? So what about for example the frame rate, is it really a 30fps or something slower? And what about the resolution? How does the video sync with your voice, is the video lagging behind or is it ok? Nice if you have time to answer and great info from you anyhow 👍🙌
1. Yes, SC seems quite good 2. The resolution is 1080p and yes, 30fps 3. There is no audio coming from the camera. When you stream, you need an audio source - like a USB mic Hope I was able to help.
Does the video and audio sync well when do live streaming? Usually the video is little slower(later) than the audio. How much is the software? Any free software can do the same job?
I use a H5-zoom with xlr shure mic set too audio interface for live-streaming. Although the phantom power ports on mine are a little glitchy. I was even considering using it as a shotgun mic if I bought a M50 although the mounting supposedly can break off on easily.
Doesn't the EOS Webcam Utility Software enable clean live streaming with all possible settings like auto focus via an USB connection? Is this software newer than this video? Or am I missing something?
Great tutorial and exactly what I needed. The new M50 (Mark 2 has a clean HDMI out now as does the M200) I use a Yeti Nano for all my live lectures and it's awesome right out of the box... the difference between it and my Logitec C920 webcam mic is immense!
Is it worth the upgrade from an m200 to a m50 and/or m50 mk2 if I only want it to do live streams using hdmi anda catpure card? (I grab sound from an external device) Ive seeing all your reviews but I cant be sure :(
great video, it really helped me but i do have a question... While streaming the camera goes off and the screens shows a colorful screen like if theres not signal, but the camera is connected tho. Is there any option to disable the screen saver or power saver while streaming? after 30 mn of use the camera goes offline, idk what to do.
Hi! I've just connected my M50 to Sparkocam (usb to micro usb) and there is a 2 or 3 second lag on the camera visual. I think I also experienced this when doing a window display via OBS. Is it supposed ot happen or is there something I can do to fix this? Many thanks! S.

It's hard to tell in this video. I would say Sparkocam is worth investing in, if the framerate was normal. But, connecting via USB (which is what I'm doing)... isn't giving me the 30fps. And I tried a USB 3.0 port as well... (don't know if that would make any difference). Thoughts? Thanks!!!
sparcocam directly works with the USB... is it necesary to plug the Micro HDMI cable as well.?
This video is life changing! Haha
Very helpful! I will definitely check it out! Also, I personally think side A looked better but the colors on side B looked better... not sure...
Thanks Dor!!! Side A is the HDMI 👏
Love my M50 but do not like that it doesn't have clean HDMI out from cam but just use a different cam to live stream. Great info thanks.
Nice video, dude. But how do you overcome the 30 minute shooting limit if using a Mac? Sparkocam only works on Windows computers.
Thank you! Download EOS Utility for Mac. Just keep it running and the camera won't turn off
Thank you very much, this video really helps me to decide what to buy M50 or M200
Glad I could help! Thanks for being part of the channel!
Great video. Very informative and no padding or waffling. Super. Just what I needed. Thank you.
Hi Sarah - I'm glad the video was helpful and I do my best not to waste people's time.
Nice setup! Love the way that mic looks! Glad the video was helpful!
Great video as always!!
I use ATEM mini connects the M50 with HDMI
I have a questions:
- how to I avoid black out in every 29 mins without reactive the camera. I want to use the camera for 2 to 3 hours live streaming.
Hope that you can help
Saved it! I've been waiting for this video!! 📷
You're absolutely right, it took me way too long to publish it 😂🤣
I mean everyone else who publishes the M50 live stream set up duct tapes everything together and is hard to understand, I'm excited to watch your video and share 🙌📷
Hope you fine helpful. Looking forward to your feedback.
Thank goodness for slightly small youtube channels! the 1 mill + channels don't respond as much to comments. New sub here!
Hi Ross - thank you for your support. I do what I can!
Oh and by the way, I am currently using the Fifine T669B USB mic for my gaming. May consider to use it for livestream or recording once I get the rig and scene setup.
I'm so glad I've been able to help. Glad that you got the M50 and are liking it. Thanks for sharing your setup and for being part of the channel!
@@TechGearTalk I find myself watching your videos everyday haha. I do go back to some of your videos to refresh memory as well. Keep doing what you do!
🙏🏻
Great video! love how you give great information!
currently using a Blue Microphone Yeti X as I mainly record on the computer and not on the go. Recently they were purchased by Logitech which allows software modification to the sound EQ and profiles
That's awesome brother, thanks for sharing. How are you liking the VMPP?
@@TechGearTalk i like it, the low end is a bit deeper than what I like, but the overall quality is great and allows me to play around with it a lot in post. Got the extension cable too so that I can mount it on a stand and use it as a overhead mic, figured out pretty quickly that the subject needs to be fairly close to the mic though, so it's back on the cam haha.
Makes sense. I use that same cable and I put it right out of the frame.
Thanks, but I have a question! A SparkoCam alternative for Mac? 👍🏽
I use the EOS app. I have the cam link but indont need it depends on what your also trying to do. It's free as well
What is your workflow with the EOS app? Do you record with manual focus and use the app to set focus first? Or you just use it to keep the camera running.
I use auto focus but as I said I've had tons of issues with the camera freezing no matter what I use. I have cam link I have had spark cam and I used the EOS app. Nothing has made my camera not freeze!!
Thanks for sharing, my audio choice is Zoom H5 or H6. You have both microphone and audio mixer/recorder in a single solution. Also waiting to see rode videomic ntg
Appreciate you taking the time to watch and to share your personal experience - those are 2 great options.
Thanks for your video. I use the Samson G-Track Pro as my microphone.
With the new EOS Utility Webcam app, what's the max resolution I can get from USB into OBS on the M50?
Thx for the video man, your content is always on point. But just one question, are you using SparkoCam through the USB port without any capture card?
Thank you for the kind words and support. You are correct, micro usb cable, no capture card.
I seen another video for the topic because im going to use my M50 for stream and was bit confused but your video explain it so much better ,,,Thank so much for that info man!New sub here _+
I’m so glad the video was helpful. Good luck!!
Thanks so much this video. Please can you share list of budget canon cameras with Clean HDMI i can get to start up my livestream biz?......
Thank you in advance
For audio I use a Motu M4 audio interface with a Neat Worker Bee via XLR. Works amazing. Great interface and microphone on a budget.
Nice!
Glad I could help! Please don't drill!!
Glad to see another video from you.
Right on Jose!
I'm new to this. Next week I am going to begin live streaming for a local university. I have a MacBook Pro. Will the Canon m50 work? Do I need adaptors or plug in too?
AF or M?
Is there an alternative in doing this on a Mac? there is no sparko on mac:(
Look at ecamm
Hey Brotha, What lens should I upgrade too? Mostly for vlogging. Thanks for all your insights, so helpful.
What’s going on! Check these out, probably the 16 ua-cam.com/video/uORT1dfeS0M/v-deo.html hope this helps and welcome to the channel!
@@TechGearTalk haha, I just found your video on this. Might get the 11-22 but now Im going to have to check out the 16mm.
Thanks so much!
Glad you found it. The 11-22 is good because it's wider - the downside is that it's not very fast, so you don't get as much separation (shallow depth of field) and it's not as good in low light.
Is there a mac alternative of Sparkocam? Thanks!
Loving the FiFine T669 as a great beginner youtuber USB mic
Thank you! High quality video & helpful info.
Appreciate you sharing 👍🏻
Is using it for Live streaming safe for the sensor and camera health ? Thanks.
Thank you for this information. I wasn't to sure as to how to do it but you explained everything to a tee. One of my favorite channels
I'm so glad this made sense - thank you for watching, for the kind words and for being part of the community.
Solid info, to the point, not alot of fluff with stupid corny pointless jokes...i just subbed...give up the good work
Glad the video was helpful and thank you for joining the community 🙏
On the SparkoCam, is there an option for Mac? I found the driver for Windows only. Thanks!
Not gonna lie, I use Canon EOS Webcam Utilities. There is not all the settings but 50$ per year is kinda expensive imo
Oh, I only paid once.
Thanks for all the information. Looks like I need to buy a few more supplies.
You are very welcome - glad I could help. Thanks for joining the channel!
Love the video quality of the is post. What did you us to shoot that?
Also do you have a link to the battery power source thing? I can go through your link.
Great video man, very helpful. Just subbed, I see I have a big gallery to go through 😄
Thank you for the kind words. Welcome to the channel!
Great video, thank you. I use sparkocam plus elgato camlink so it gives me the benefits of sparkocam plus higher video quality of hdmi for webcam
Hi JT. Thanks for the info! 🙏 So you're using the CamLink with manual focus and then Sparkocam to keep the camera running?
@@TechGearTalk yes I shoot on manual to control ISO but still have it set on auto focus (face tracking)
I meant, manual focus (but good to hear that you're shooting in manual exposure!)
If you have face tracking on and you don't see the indicator, then you're getting the feed from the Sparkocam and are not getting anything from the CamLink.
Ok so this is the struggle I'm having. I want to get the HDMI out out for quality and also have a clean HDMI feed. Do I need to run a USB cable and HDMI cable to be able to do this? I'm running the HDMI through the Elgato HDS+. I am using SparkoCam.
@@agullett hey, have you found a solution? I want to use the hdmi source without the autofocus box... ( also sparkocam lose quality on obs)
Sparko cam takes the interface? It doesn’t need to be camera specific? Any old interface? I like my onyx interface preamps and condenser mics.
Amazing stuff. Liked the video
A seems to be HDMI and B is SparkoCam? Or is it? 😅
SC seems to be quite good anyway or how do you think about it?
Isn't it basically a camera's “live view“? So what about for example the frame rate, is it really a 30fps or something slower? And what about the resolution?
How does the video sync with your voice, is the video lagging behind or is it ok?
Nice if you have time to answer and great info from you anyhow 👍🙌
1. Yes, SC seems quite good
2. The resolution is 1080p and yes, 30fps
3. There is no audio coming from the camera. When you stream, you need an audio source - like a USB mic
Hope I was able to help.
Great channel. I use iMac with capture card with my Canon m50 and Ecamm. Is there an option for clean AF? Thanks!
Does the video and audio sync well when do live streaming? Usually the video is little slower(later) than the audio. How much is the software? Any free software can do the same job?
OBS let's you "offset" the audio to sync it if you have issues. It's free.
Can we do a video about palaeontology dr geller… :) seriously though. I’ve seen a few of your videos and they are extremely helpful!
WE WERE ON A BREAK!!! 🤣😂 Thanks for watching.
Hi! I've just connected my M50 to Sparkocam (usb to micro usb) and there is a 2 or 3 second lag on the camera visual. I think I also experienced this when doing a window display via OBS. Is it supposed ot happen or is there something I can do to fix this? Many thanks! S.
For audio recording and streaming, I love the Audio Technica AT2020. Much better sound than the Yeti, which picks up too much background noise...
Appreciate you sharing the info - I'll give it a shot
