Like your videos and the way you clearly break things down. But as a Mac user I found this video frustrating. I already know this doesn’t work for Mac as the software is windows only currently (something which I feel should have been mentioned in the vid as it could be misleading for those who aren’t aware). since this solution won’t work for me I also wish you would link to the previous video you made as I’m still searching for solution and wondering if you have removed it as I’m not finding it. If so I wish you would also state that in the video and include instructions for Mac users. Also it felt misleading that you didn’t mention the resolution output or crop going on with the stream feed. The stream was a much tighter crop and I’m left unsure if that is a result of you reframing the shot or if it is a limitation of the software solution . Just a few of honest notes. Love the channel tho. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
You talked about the M50 and used an example and that your face had a focus indicator although I’ve heard from others that the M50 doesn’t support auto focus when being used as a webcam. Can you confirm that autofocus works during clean hdmi out usage?
You solved the black box conundrum - the deactivating the EOS utility that is blocking the webcam utility from showing the image. Thank you! No one else had the work around. The UA-cam video posted by Canon totally ignored it. 👍

Yes, I'm trying to figure out a camera I should send to a recurring guest on my podcast, in order to get better video on my Zoom calls with him. I personally use a c100 for that, like you, but I'm looking for something less expensive to get him started streaming video, now that we can get a clean output from the mid-level Canon lineup. I was leaning towards the 90D, but hadn't considered the M50 before until I saw your video.
@@TechGearTalk The streams can sometimes be 2 to 3 hours long. I know the cinema cameras can handle that, but wasn't sure about the DSLRs. I hadn't considered the m6mkii, thanks I'll check it out!
I have coupler for the 90D that will give it power forever (plugs into outlet) and is easily available. You can get something similar for the m6mkii but it's a bit harder to find. That will take care of the power issue. I like that you'll have face/eye detection with both of those cameras. You don't need to be worrying about focus.

Thanks for this video. I've been fighting with my M50 for a year now, trying to stream with it. I tried everything (SparkoCam paid version, CamLink, both) and nothing worked perfectly or reliably. Just downloaded this new software this morning and it seems to be working well. Been on a Zoom call for two hours now and it's working great!!
Thanks for all the good works you are doing with Canon products. Through your tips and lectures I have started enjoying my Canon M50. You are the best without a doubt! (Your fan from Belgium)
First video, or blog, that actually identifies the EOS Webcam Utility vs the EOS Utility. That was the key for me getting it to work with my MacBook Pro M1.
I have one 77D - I have to uninstall eos utility, download the latest version and install after I have install the webcam utility, Now is working. Thank you for you video!
You nailed with the light again! I knew that I could live stream with the dslr, I just had no idea how! Thank you so much, man, that was awesome 🙏🙏🙏. 3 thumbs up 👍
Thank you for providing this useful information, I noticed that you did not use a capture card. All I want to do is use the camera to provide video of my Sunday service. So I take it that I won't need a capture card, with the Canon M50
@@TechGearTalk I'm trying to decide between the SL2 and SL3 for a streaming (and other use) camera and now this app is a pretty huge factor in my decision making. Would you bet on Canon continuing to develop and support this type of software? I'm hoping to save a couple hundred dollars by streaming with the SL2 but am a little worried the app will have some issues or not be supported in the future leaving me to deal with some of the SL2's issues (no clean HDMI). Would love your opinion and thanks for the amazing content!
So my issue here is that if Canon doesn't continue to develop, then you're stuck. Where as if you have the SL3, even if you don't buy a capture card now, you may choose to do in in a year. Hope that helps.
thanks for replying back to me. I truly appreciate your expertise. You meant I need to plug the mic on the computer and have two sources of recording: sound on the laptop and video on the camera, Hopefully they come together through the laptop. Hi, thanks again for this video. I asked a question the other day, but have another that I'm hoping to find an answer for. I've been told that DSLR's such as the 200D and 250D stop recording after 30minutes. Is livestreaming (without recording) different from recording? i.e. Is it possible for the camera to stay on indefinitely, for longer livestreams? (if not recording). And secondly, is there any hack on either the 200D or 250D to extend the record time, past 30mins? I'm guessing not, but here's hoping 😅
I'm so glad it was helpful Thomas. I know that I was frustrated when it didn't work so I was hoping I can save people some headache. Thanks for being part of the channel!
In task manager, you can go to startup tab, then disable the Eos utility in there. Your computer won’t start the program the next time you start your computer. And if you need to access the program, just start it normally from desktop shortcut or where you installed it
still getting just the splash screen ... tried both ending task as well as uninstall the entire web EOS utility .. still just the splash screen ... ughhhh so frustrating ... any other trouble shooting?
Thanks again!! This is AWESOME!!! Totally welcome!! It is so sad it is not yet for the Mac!! But I have a question, what about the microphone? What signal should I grab, the one from the camera? Keep it on!!! Thanks!!
Wow amazing video! Quick question please help!!!! So I currently record my podcast with a canon R. No matter what memory card I have in the camera, it just stops recording after 25 mins or so. If I follow all your tips on streaming live will the camera not shut off anymore? Pleas help love the videos!
The canon R has a 30 minute record limit. You can use it to stream with the app, but it will be lower quality. You can also use the clean hdmi output and get a capture card so you can stream for as long as you want. If you have OBS installed - you can record to your computer for as long as you want instead of streaming. I’d you need unlimited on the go, you can get an Atomos ninja V. Hope that helps.
Hi there - glad it was helpful. Check out this video and look in the description for an option that will work for the SL2/SL3/M6mkII: ua-cam.com/video/TOpsG_jlEbU/v-deo.html hope that helps.
@@TechGearTalk yeah... No... The sl2 e17 battery does not work for the m6 markii it uses the bottom powered battery like the m50 the sl2 does style does not work since it comes out the side of the dummy battery. I've looked everywhere. 😑 and your link , the product is unavailable.

Nice video. You can right-click on the EOS Utility icon in the system tray and click Exit from there as an alternative to going into task manager. For those wanting to use Skype, the camera is not detected in the Windows 10 Store App, but works flawlessly in the Skype for Desktop app downloadable from your browser. I haven't tested this, but someone in a forum said there's a little lag if you shoot at 60fps in OBS, but no lag if you shoot at anything lower than 60fps. I've only shot at 30fps and there's no lag.
Holy crap! Thank you so much. The 4:00 mark where you explain about Eos utility getting in the way has saved me so much time and frustration. You've got yourself another sub 👊🏼
This video was perfect and helped tremendously. Only slight issue I'm having is image quality in comparison to my Logitech 1080p webcam my camera has a grainy picture. Now I do have an older EOS Rebel T5i, could that be the reason why my quality is lower?
For anyone wondering how to have the display on the camera on while using the monitor. There should be a setting in the Menu > Under the Shoot Section> HMDI output + LCD > Change that to Mirroring. You may want to turn on the Ctrl over HDMI setting in the BLUE VIDEO Section Should be ready to go!!
Great video bro, keep it up! You HAVE to put the camera on VIDEO on the camera itself for the focus button to work on the software. I have not seen any videos that explain the physical camera settings and troubleshooting them for the focus button on the software button to work. If you don't, the focus button on the software will grey out! Also how to you get the white box to disappear? God bless!
Exciting video thanks so much. Tried it with my Rebel T7-get an "X" over the USB cable...tried your suggestion to close the eos app....but don't see it in the task list (win 10)... Oh well...
Man, im really glad that i already tried this method. I really prefer this method instead of window capture with the eos Utility. And also its auto detects my m50 as soon as i plug it. Very nice solution.
Thanks for pointing this out, by the way you can also exit the EOS Utility app by selecting quit in the windows 10 task bar. You press the ^ button to see the background applications then right click on the EOS Utility icon and select quit. For those who may feel uncomfortable going to the task manager. Also I noticed that if I then open the EOS Utility after using it as a webcam, some of the settings are stuck in auto for the webcam functionality such as ISO, simply turn of the camera and back on and the EOS Utility will have full access again.
Thanks for your reply, we are here in India. The other camcorder I have is Vixia HF G50. Is there a way to live stream directly without a capture card? And just use the laptop? And yet have high quality 1080p on UA-cam. I also have an Canon XA25.
Hi Timothy, I would first download the software from the closes camera to yours (from the list and try it - a lot of people found other models that work). Then I would look at this option: ua-cam.com/video/w25dRpbM08w/v-deo.html I hope that helps and welcome to the channel!
Highly appreciated for the video. MY I ask if the old model, such as Canon 7D, can output clean HDMI feeds, please? I’ve searched, but no option capable to solve the overlays issues when live-streaming

Sagi - thanks for the pro tip on the task manager, I was shutting down EOS utility in the corner but it must of had something running in the background because I would get my RP to work then it wouldn't. Awesome info as usual.
Appreciate your work man! As a beginner learned a lot from your videos. Is it just me or using the EOS Utility the frame rate doesn't look that smooth?
Glad I could help. Yes, the resolution and framerate is lower on the app. Since this is only a Beta version - we can hope that Canon updates this with a full production version.

dude your lighting is amazing🧠
Oh wow, thank you so much! Appreciate you being part of the channel!
@@TechGearTalk you've helped a lot man, i appreciate it
Thanks so much - nobody else knew to recommend ending task for EOS utility
First video, or blog, that actually identifies the EOS Webcam Utility vs the EOS Utility. That was the key for me getting it to work with my MacBook Pro M1.
I have one 77D - I have to uninstall eos utility, download the latest version and install after I have install the webcam utility, Now is working. Thank you for you video!
Thank you so much for sharing!
Where did you found the last version?
I’m such a newb and I found this SO helpful. So happy to discover I can stream from my Canon T7 (I have an E07). Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
You nailed with the light again! I knew that I could live stream with the dslr, I just had no idea how! Thank you so much, man, that was awesome 🙏🙏🙏. 3 thumbs up 👍
Thanks so much Ruben 🙏
Mr Ruben good to see you here. A little glitch means you can also use older Canon cameras.
At first I thought your title was misleading as I couldn't get it to work with my 5D3, but the tip on the EOS app sorted this. Cheers
I'm super glad it was helpful! Thank you for the kind words and for being part of the community 🙏
Thank you for providing this useful information, I noticed that you did not use a capture card. All I want to do is use the camera to provide video of my Sunday service. So I take it that I won't need a capture card, with the Canon M50
Have an M50 on the way.. So, glad I found this channel! Thanks!
CONGRATS ON THE NEW CAMERA!!! Glad you found the channel as well - welcome!
Before started watching the video i guessed M50 would be your test camera in this video ☺️ big thumps up for sharing the details 👍
Ha! You go it right! Glad it was helpful.
I need link to video to screen without depending on the battery
Can you please link the video on how to setup the power plug? This is not in your description like you said it was.
This is such great news... Especially since capture cards are sold out everywhere I look! Thank you
Super glad it was helpful. Really nice by Canon!
Big thanks once again. I hope you're going well and enjoying the journey.
Yes, that is correct. You will choose two different sources in the software. you can also find some super affordable usb mics on amazon. Glad I’ve been able to help 🙏🏻
@@TechGearTalk I've been on this journey for sometime. I have the yeti, movo, and blue mic. I rely on your expertise quite often. I'm simply too shine to reach out. Thank you my friend. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave such kind feedback.
hi thanks a lot, before i could stream with EOS Utility but the OBS used the EOS utility as a mirrow it used the program and i needed the program open in a second screen so the OBS catch me, now i dont need nothing open th OBS just recognize and an find my camera itself, and the funny thing is im using the EOS 90D and my camera is a EOS 750D and it works! thank you thank you continue with the good content.
Appreciate you sharing the process Mario! Grateful that you're part of the channel!
Thank you! This worked for my EOS 450D , even tho it's not listed as compatible with the software.
Wow! Your video is so sharp, even when viewed at 480p! How?
Hi, thanks again for this video. I asked a question the other day, but have another that I'm hoping to find an answer for. I've been told that DSLR's such as the 200D and 250D stop recording after 30minutes. Is livestreaming (without recording) different from recording? i.e. Is it possible for the camera to stay on indefinitely, for longer livestreams? (if not recording). And secondly, is there any hack on either the 200D or 250D to extend the record time, past 30mins? I'm guessing not, but here's hoping 😅
I've got the same doubt.. I've got a 200D
@@aadarsh_lal Well... at least you can test it then, to find out the answer 👍😄
Wow thank you so much! I think you just help me solve my problem with OBS no showing live feed (EOS Utility Issue) 👍👍
Great video. Thanks so much. Turned out to be more complicated than I expected and your video proved a real help. Thanks from little old Englandshire
And if you need to access the program, just start it normally from desktop shortcut or where you installed it
Brilliant - will add in the description. Thank you!!!
still getting just the splash screen ... tried both ending task as well as uninstall the entire web EOS utility .. still just the splash screen ... ughhhh so frustrating ... any other trouble shooting?
I now got the m50 and i like it so far! Thx 4 your tips! Still figuring out how to make it work, but im sure i will do! Thanks mate!
Glad I could help
That's awesome 👌
I Hope you make a with Canon 2000d how to Stream what we need or ... Füll Details please ☺️
Thanks again!! This is AWESOME!!! Totally welcome!! It is so sad it is not yet for the Mac!! But I have a question, what about the microphone? What signal should I grab, the one from the camera? Keep it on!!! Thanks!!
You're very welcome Jaime. There is no audio coming from the video feed. Hope this helps.
For the m50 (or any other camera) does it only support 1080 30? Can this software do 1080 60?
Need a fast reply if possible thank you!
Hi there. I believe it's 30 at the most. You can use this if you need more: ua-cam.com/video/w25dRpbM08w/v-deo.html
Thanks so much 😊
Was only one m50 left in stock in my country so I had to act fast!
CONGRATS!!
Hope that helps.
couldn't figure out why it wasn't working, but it was the canon utility app that was stealing the signal. Thank you so much!
That little thief! Glad I could help
This is awesome!! I tried it this morning and it looks better than sparko cam IMO!! Now if I can just find a power supply for the M6markii!! 😕
Oops, was thinking sl2/sl3 battery, my bad. Let me see what I can find, it should be the same size coupler.
here you go amzn.to/2VSQQcW
@@TechGearTalk thanks!! You're awesome man!! Purchased so you get credit. I have a USB version coming from China... Lol
Who knows how long that will take. I wanted a wall plug anyway! 👍🍻
DUDE----- You just made my day... I have moved 10 steps forward
So glad I could help. Thanks for being part of the channel
I have a Canon Rebel SL1. It is not on the list for the EOS webcam utility. But I gave It a try anyway. It worked!
That's awesome Ed - appreciate you sharing!
This is very timely given how much video conferencing is being used during the pandemic
Exactly!
@@TechGearTalk My Canon 24-105 lens is coming in very handy for these video calls, shame I haven't got a 35MM prime though
The 24-105 will still be awesome - great lens!
@@TechGearTalk Love the versatility of its barely been off my camera since I bought it
I can definitely see why. 👊
thank you very much!!! now my livestreams will get a lot better :D
Appreciate all the input, I added it to the description!
Holy crap! Thank you so much. The 4:00 mark where you explain about Eos utility getting in the way has saved me so much time and frustration.
You've got yourself another sub 👊🏼
You're very welcome. I'm so glad it was helpful. I spent all the hours being frustrated until I figured it out so hopefully now others can avoid that!
You may want to turn on the Ctrl over HDMI setting in the BLUE VIDEO Section
Should be ready to go!!
Appreciate you watching and sharing your input!
Another great video- I have the Rebel 2. The app works great for video, but I do not have any audio signal. Any suggestioins. Thanks!
Awesome video! Great background lighting and sound! Content is fantastic!!!🙂🙂🙂
That was with my Rebel SL2
Appreciate the info Shane! Will add it to the description (with credit)!!
Help me use my Canon VIXIA HF G50 as a UA-cam Live Streaming tool, How may I do that without spending money?
I don't believe that's on the list.
Thanks for your reply, we are here in India. The other camcorder I have is Vixia HF G50. Is there a way to live stream directly without a capture card? And just use the laptop? And yet have high quality 1080p on UA-cam. I also have an Canon XA25.
Great vid there. So sad that my canon is not on the list. What method would you recommend for other low end Canon camera? Eos 700d for instance.
Hi Timothy, I would first download the software from the closes camera to yours (from the list and try it - a lot of people found other models that work). Then I would look at this option: ua-cam.com/video/w25dRpbM08w/v-deo.html
I hope that helps and welcome to the channel!
Image quality looks great ! M50 user here, I appreciate the tips 👏
Thanks for this video. How can you get such great lighting as on your video here?
Highly appreciated for the video. MY I ask if the old model, such as Canon 7D, can output clean HDMI feeds, please? I’ve searched, but no option capable to solve the overlays issues when live-streaming
Another great informative video. Please tell me will there be any heating problem if we continuously stream for 2-3 hours in canon sl3 or m50
Glad it was helpful my friend. Should be no overheating because camera is not recording.
@@TechGearTalk Thank u sir

Thanks for the info!
hey thanks a lot for the video but please how about the audio . I dont get any audio signal from obs when I use the eos utility
What is the maximum sleep timer when used as a webcam? my camera model is Canon D200. Thank you.
thank you for the tips, I have a Canon EOS M, and it is not compatible with the Canon Webcam Utility software. Is there any other software that I can use instead?
Tanks for the video, i have and sl2 but sometimes it seams like it disconect for a few seconds and then it come back, when i am giving a webinar is a problem, any solutions? could it be because of the mirror
Awesome video.. Man I doing this.. But it's lagging on obs.. In live streaming or when recording.. I using a 70d.. U know what I can do for improving the performance? And have a nice flow... Thansk
Sagi - thanks for the pro tip on the task manager, I was shutting down EOS utility in the corner but it must of had something running in the background because I would get my RP to work then it wouldn't. Awesome info as usual.
So glad I was able to help. I did the same thing for 2 days until I figured it out! I keep updating the description with more info.
Thank you so much! I am glad you used the M50 as the example since that is the one I have!
Nice! Now I can make a confident choice between m50 and SL3
So glad I was able to help Bruno - thanks for being part of the channel!
Another Tech Gear Talk and another helpful video. Seems so seamless. 👏👏👏
My brother Safa in the house!
@@TechGearTalk Have they fixed this issue now?
Can't wait for the MAC OS version!
At least I have confirmation that they are working on it Matt
@@TechGearTalk thats very good to know... i didn't get any word on it.. but i assumed they were. i imagine with the purpose of this update being the pandemic that it should not take them too long... fingers crossed. I want to toss that added piece of hardware and streamline a little bit more.
