I've had my M50 for almost a year and love it. Coming back to this video after several months has been hugely helpful. You explain the stabilization features better than any other UA-camr, most of whom say don't use the digital stabilization. But you have explained the intent of each. Digital IS "enabled" smooths out handheld jitters and bumps when walking, panning etc. "Enhanced" is for when you want a rock steady handheld shot without camera movement. If you try to pan it's trying to to make a moving object stand still and is constantly recalculating what that should be which is why it looks terrible. This one video has upped my game significantly (and helped me get full value out of the camera. Thank you.
Now if someone can explain how the 4k works... It uses less of the image on the sensor, yet gets more pixels of resolution and then you can zoom in still further in post and get 1080p image quality.

Yeah, it's super handy! Love the size of it. Can't remember if I replied to your other comment about your 6D Mk II, but I am jealous of being able to have a blurry background like you would with a 16-35 f/2.8. I've been seeing a lot of people struggling to get the focus to be smooth on the 6D - I'm assuming that's because of the ultrasonic motors in most of the good Canon glass, but how has it been for you?

I know it is a little bit irrelevant, but I have been browsing tons of M50 reviews etc and I just wanted to say that this is literally one of the first reviews where the person's way of speaking about this subject was so enjoyable. Best review so far. Not dwelling on how bad 4K is, and in fact i love how positive you are about it. I feel the same. The 4K is lacking compared to others but the camera has so much more to offer., and I think the crop factor combined with a fast prime makes it quite unique.

Hey Justin - just curious if you had to get a mount adapter for the sigma lens to fit on the canon EF-M mount. I’m interested in the set up you have, but noticed the sigma mount says “EF” - have you had any issues? Would love your insight (eg any autofocus issues with the sigma lens etc) and you totally inspired me to max out the potential of my m50. Thanks! 🙏🏻

Not to be confused with Cinematic; the other overly used term on YT. You're def. putting the M50 through it's paces and I took a lot from your breakdown on picture profiles. Going back to making some more drastic adjustments on the profiles after watching. Thanks dude!

Daniel Ince the color profiles really make Canon's super dynamic.
      Look up Cinestyle
      Or Marvel Cinema
      Or even Superflat
They're user made and can be simply downloaded into most Canon's - including M50 or 5DM3+. Up to three different user saved! Just use your EOS Utility.

Hi Justin, yep I'm impressed, good work & thoughts, … I assume the desk talking portion was shot with the M50 too ?
    Cheers from Straya

Probably my a6500 if I had the M50 in my hands. But my "Best Canon Camera" video was shot in 4K on my M50 and it looks STUNNING.

Cool review, thank you. One advice is, please, show the menu settings with longer shots, I didn't catch some of them, even with 5 times reply the part in your video )))))

Thank you :) May be i am late to the party but how do you find the sigma 24 1.4 with the m50 and the adaptor? I have a t3i and i ma thinking how i can improve further, but cheaper.

I just have the Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 with the M adapter and it's AWESOME for video. Focuses really well. BUT. The M50 has dual-pixel autofocus so you'd likely need to do manual focus with the t3i which you can do!

do you recommend the Sigma 24mm 1.4 ? does the 18-35 have noise issues with the auto zoom? I have heard some sigma lenses are loud with the autofocus where a constant sound is going

The 18-35 is fine if you use the genuine Canon adapter. Noisy AF with cheap 3rd party ones. Sigma 24mm 1.4 is beautiful but overkill for this camera. You could get the new Sigma EF-M 16mm f/1.4 and 30mm f/1.4 and those would be sweet!

Either put them equal distance from the camera or crank up that aperture to a high number so more is in focus?

Does anyone have any suggestion as to how to get by the 30 minute recording time threshold with DSLRs?
