I use the M50 for all my UA-cam videos. But since my videos are not artistic stories, I’m pretty happy with the standard profile with some minor color grading. I do try to stick to the wide open aperture and 180° shutter speed, so I have a variable ND filter that I use A LOT!
not all films have shallow depth of field, you should only use it when it's relevant to the story. shooting like this can make the image softer and make it harder to focus.
@@tesha199 Right, but with the larger sensor it still gets better performance. I hate when people act like shooting with smaller sensors is an advantage. Like when you factor in a tighter focal range on the same actual lenses (all the best consumer glass is for full frame) it just isn't worth it. Not when Canon and Sony both have affordable full frame now for not much more. And if you are buying the better full frame lenses and adapting, you might as well spend a bit more and get an RP/R or a used sony A7III or A7sII
I really hate bokeh in UA-cam videos....when it’s subtle, it looks great...but a lot of UA-camrs overdo it 🤢 they should put more effort in making a nice looking set instead of blurring it out.
Omg I’m recording something similar in Spanish for all my people with the M50. Best have it and it works really good in the zhyun crane. It’s a tiny beast. Good video.
I love love love my m50 but I think it's a bit "wobbly" and the auto focus is a bit delayed but overall it's a keeper. I also love how you just improved my m50 in 8 minutes thanks!
Hi Joris. I installed the cine profile. Taking a closer look at it: sharpness and contrast are set to zero, other settings are the same as for the neutral profile. My question : wouldnt it just be easier to take a user defined profile and make the necessary settings? Why the need to install? Or am I missing something?
Hi Gert, you can do a lot more adjustments to a picture profile like curves, gamma curve, color tones... but then you need the picture profile editor. At the moment I'm trying to create my own picture profile. Here's a video: ua-cam.com/video/N6YDAd23wkA/v-deo.html
I've used cinestyle. Basically, you gain dynamic range in the highlights and shadows, but you lose midtone detail. Also, it can be a pain to expose correctly and even more of a nightmare to color grade. I'd save my time and just shoot with the natural picture profile.
Good luck Yvonne! Looking to buy my first "real" camera very soon and I'm looking very hard at this Canon M50. Almost sold on it. Let us know how it's going.
I prefer using Andrew Reid's C-log I find the colors are more vibrant with less noise. Also with the Sigma f1.4 lenses you can now get really sharp images with some crazy bokeh, particularly with the 56mm
Great vid! Helped loads! I’ve got a speedbooster and a 50mm lens to try and buy my way into looking as good as that, with these settings as well now, tasty shots 😋

So true. I think of how amazing new amateur enthusiast footage looked in iPhone 6s Plus on a DJi many years ago. & Dad would say it looked leaps better then what they spent more money on for early DV tape 720 of the very early 2000s. So we can do it. Brilliant tips
Great video! I film in my shop under 60,000 lumens of light so I actually use an ND filter inside!😂 I got tired of setting up lights over every work station to get the right shot. I found this works well! Cheers

Sure, any camera will work. Green key is more about the software you'll use. I'm not familiar with those, though. As for image quality, they're both really close but the Canon M50 Mark II will be announced soon. Maybe wait for that one?
Perhaps that was a stupid question 'cause you're talking about aperture, which perhaps doesn't work without a lens? Or does the Canon m50 have a default lens that comes with it? I'm sorry but I'm very new to all of this, but this was a very interesting video that I'll probably rewatch a few times later!
