I have a question and no one seems to have an answer. I was using my Canon EOS M50 with OBS for the past 18 months with No Issue. It was perfect. About 2 weeks ago, I opened OBS and the EOS utility barely showed up in the option list for Video source. I caught it before it dropped off but I haven't been able to get it back. So far I've taken the following steps: Uninstalled and re-installed OBS 3 times Uninstalled and reinstalled the EOS M50 Canon Utility at least 10 times Uninstalled and reinstalled the Canon EOS M50 Webcam Utility 5 times. Download the Canon EOS M50 Firmware Update to a SD card and updated the camera. As of today, I've even switched out cables and USB ports. I'm at my wits end. It's the camera, I can't even get it to come up on Zoom. I've gone through all of the settings. When I bring up the Canon Utility, I can record and now that I updated the webcam I can see the EOS Utility option in Zoom but when I click on it nothing comes up. Help?
if have a question that might be silly, but do i have to worry about the battery of my camera running out when plug to my pc? or is the pc charging it constantly
I’ve tried both of these ways and my Canon M50 freezes/black screens. I’ve tried everything. New ports. New cables. Went in camera settings. Window settings. Updated my bios. Updated camera firmware and canon utility app to always have the latest version and still no luck with the camera freezing. I even have the screen flipped out and facing me too.
hey im having trouble finding the certain software .... I only see the regular software not the one that say webcam on it .. I. think they updated they website
Hi need some advice please if possible My daughter has started making her UA-cam gaming Videos She plays on Roblox games We record her face cam , external mic and game play on OBS studios Face cam is recorded using - Canon M50 EOS mk2 External mic - USB Or Rode Aux ( might get a Blue yeti later) Since I am in the UK the Canon camera is set to PAL - so has either 25 FHD fps or 50 FHD fps option On OBS and Roblox we only have 30 fps or 60 Fps Roblox by default is 60 fps and OBS is set to 60 fps. Since the video camera is 50 fps, What do we render the video for UA-cam 30 fps or 60 fps ? And also for uploading to UA-cam minimum requirements for 30 fps is bitrate of 8000 kbps and for 60 fps is 12,000 kbps I have set my CBR on OBS to 12,000 kbps for Recording video and 320 kbps for Audio My question is : Can i record the camera at 50 fps on OBS, with OBS and Roblox set to 60 fps? and render the final video at 60 fps? OR do i need to Render at 30 fps ? OR Is it ok to record on the camera on NTSC that way I can choose either 30fps or 60 fps ? instead of PAL 25 and 50 Fps That way all will match and the final video can be rendering in 60 FPS @ 12,000 kbps minimum requirement for 60 fps upload to UA-cam I never knew about the bitrate requirements for uploading to UA-cam, I was earlier recording at 2500 kbps, maybe thats why some videos looked blurry on UA-cam itself?? Sorry for the long questions here. Can anyone help? Thank you
When I plug my cannon eos m50 to my computer and use the webcam utility option, I get a very cropped stream image. The image in webcam utility (and therefore obs) is much more cropped than on my viewfinder on the camera. How do I fix this?
I use the canon eos utility I have good lighting. )a key light and background Leds)but my video looks noisy. Would be very helpful if you made a video showing your setting lens ect. I’ve been using the auto mode because no matter the settings my Manuel mode looks terrible
I have tried using a capture card on my regular eos m50, every time I click on the *USB video*m video capture device in my sources, it always gives me a rainbow signal screen for the output, it does not show anything else. Does anyone know how to fix this please?
Hey there HS :) I'm aiming to buy M50 for one of the thing - webcam for twitch. And I need to ask becouse I mostly seen this on much every video about Canon m50 Webcam ..... I see that when you put M50 on OBS it got sort of delay between what you doing and what you see on OBS. Is there any chance to repair this or just do to solve this ? Peace :)
I had no issues the first time I used Webcam mode but when I tried to go back on later only the EOS screen showed with no video, not sure how to fix this and I need it for a video project in school.
Try the bottom right corner of your task bar, click the up arrow and see if "EOS Utility" is running. If it is just right click and quit. That's what was happening to me. Hope this helps
@@joeythemoose Thanks, EOS utility is running but every time I have to mess with a different setting to get it to work. I don't know it's strange, but I guess I'll have to spend 15 min to get working every time. Thanks again
@@mehdishirazi3 yeah it was the same way for me.. just closing that darn utility seems to help for me… or restarting the whole pc. Good luck on your project… I’m working on a school project as well!
You shouldn't need to unless you are recording audio on another device. If that's the case, first make sure that you're recording audio within your video (even if the quality is not as good as your dedicated audio recorder). Next, you should add audio markers/cues during recording (you can clap your hands before your first sentence for example). Finally when you import both your video and audio files into your video editing software, you can sync both audio sources by looking at the waveforms.
Hi! I was wondering if you could help me with figuring out how to make the camera not turn off after around 30 mins, I’ve disabled the other 2 options but I need it to stay on for more than 4 hrs for streaming :/
All these cameras have an auto shut off after about 30 mins, something to do with being considered a "camera" or a "camcorder." I believe if you use the webcam utility that fixes it, or maybe just using the "dummy battery" to show its being powered through AC? I'm not sure.
Ran into this on my first podcast attempt. You have to order an AC adapter + dummy battery combo. I got mine on Amazon for $20. You'll put the dummy battery in the normal battery slot, and there's a little hole in the battery as well as on the battery door; pop up the rubber hole cover on the door and swivel it out of the way. Turn on the cam and Bada bing Bada boom. Now that I'm rereading your comment, I think you're talking about the record time limit. The camera does not allow to record continuous video for more than half an hour. The way to get around this is to record to OBS using the Canon as the webcam. With the AC adapter attached and recording to your computer instead of the camera's SD card, you can record for as many hours as you want. I'll raise the flag that when trying to record my second podcast attempt tonight, we ended up going for an hour and a half before pausing for bathroom break and realized OBS didn't record any of the audio at all. Fiddled with the settings and determined that we had everything set the way we did it before when it worked but OBS was just bugging out randomly. We decided to try recording the audio to Reaper (an audio software, not video; much more reliable and flexible for multi mics and such) while recording the video to OBS. Or recording the audio in both simultaneously as a backup. Hopefully you don't run into that but warning you just in case..
K... this is not working for me guys and I have been scouring the internet for the answer.😫 I have tried both methods, but the feed is not getting to my OBS. Once I select the device EOS Webcam Utility.... The only thing that pops up on the screen is a black page that says EOS Webcam Utility... no actual footage

It is important to point out that you are talking about the Canon M50 MARK II - not the Canon M50. The M50 Mark II has capabilities for use with the EOS software that the M50 does not have. You should re-title your video to reflect this.

How do you sync audio and video

Did you find a solution for the regular Canon M 50?
Set the camera to manual mode cheers 👌🏼
