Hello everyone, I created a youtube channel and website based around helping people solve their computing needs / problems with my business. If anyone needs any help i would gladly appreciate it if you looked here and i could possibly fix your problems remotely as well! Here is an article on my website that is a step-by-step how to retrieve your data off of your old hard drive. www.hexxkreatorcs.net/hard-drive-recovery/
This might be one of the best overall videos I’ve ever seen. Sound is great, perfect angles and the explanations are timely. Not one second was wasted. Thank you for the great content.
Good point on the time. So many seconds are waisted on youtube. I have given up on countless videos with all the waffle, especially at the start! This was a good video. Well done
One of the most amazing videos on setting up a YT recording setup. I have been searching for a tut detailing everything like this for quite some time. I just bought all the items you listed from your Amazon affiliate link...thank you for including all of those as well!
CityPrepping. 👋 your channel is in my top 5. Thanks for all your advice over the years. I signed up for your emails and I am checking out your store. Fantastic pricing on the Level IV armor👍🤝
I'd been producing big brand content for YEARS and used to run my own vlog on the side. I quit vlogging strictly because the setup was just to fiddly. You have done something I could never pin down. A simple and functional "always ready" small footprint setup. God bless you man.
What a relief with all the bad tutorials out here!! Clear explanations, clear images, no unnecessary bla bla bla, and thank god no unnecessary background music! You have a new subscriber!
I like how you have a simple realistic background scene yet everything still looks clean AF. No hipster pinewood paneled walls embedded with LED strips complete with man cave bar and stripper pole required to look legit. Great beginner to realistically pro setup. If you're content is on point this setup will get you anywhere you want to go. Thanks.
Built this "studio on a stick" and it has been a fabulous way to keep my online teaching setup at the ready, but out of the way. Great idea. Thanks, Caleb.
@@foodwinesong Hi. I have a teleprompter (from caddybuddy.com) that can be used with a smartphone or tablet. I use it separately on a tripod. My guess is that it plus a camera would be too heavy for this setup.
We been waiting for 2 months and just got this video from our saved bookmarks couple days ago to order everything and now next thursday when it comes in we will be knocking ours out as we rewatch your video. Thank You for helping us to complete this part of our @UA-cam journey to learn to become a great creator. we subbed. thanks a milly!
What an amazingly well spent 15 minutes of my time. I'm in awe of your ability to provide such comprehensive instruction in such a concise manner. Outstanding. I will follow your recommendations and will get an awesome result without question. Someone should be paying you. If Sony is listening his recommendation just sold at least one of your cameras. 👍
Love how concise your information is, the convenient time stamps, along with the overall concept of an affordable table setup for shooting videos! I wish this video had been up several years ago before I poured my money into gear that doesn't match my space as well as yours would.
Calming and really helpful. Unlike those who speak so fast and you end up rewinding everything many times. I've been watching this video another account and I'm just glad I found this again. :D
Wow the total cost is INSANE 🔥🔥🔥💪🏼 it’s literally cheaper than one of my cameras without a lens. Really appreciate you making this video, I’ve been struggling to make myself a static setup at home that I don’t need to break down and put back together every time I need to use it or am done with it. This gives me some great ideas, thank you!
Awesome setup man! Probably also great for game streamers, and people who like to do solo video podcasts! Heck, even review channels or tutorial people could use this!
Thank you so much for this. What an amazing step-by-step guide. It took me 15 minutes to order all the parts and two hours of a handyman's time to show him the video and have him put it together (it would have taken me 4 hours). I made a Tiktok about it thanking you. 🙂
That light got my attention. I have tried to set a studio in office with fluorescent lighting. And it makes me look green… in a bad way. I made a half hearted try to add a ring light. BUT I am very excited about an overhead light. Glad the algorithm brought your video to my feed. Thanks!
The absolute simplest, best, cleanest one desk set up. I've been looking for 2 years. This is the best and yet the cheapest one desk set up available. Bought the hardware. Mounted my mic with overhead boom, my circle light, my teleprompter and camera. All on one post using two short booms.
Dude you rock! I will never use this setup but I enjoyed watching how thorough you are. I like the control you have with light in your video, subtle and not too loud.
One of the best setups I've seen. Usually when I see these I think there's no way I can get achieve this setup. I watched this video a couple times and realized it's totally doable. Will be building this out as soon as I get the parts. Thanks!
Caleb just wanted to give you a major shout out about this! I'm a High School teacher by day, film maker by night and am preparing to teach all online. I built my teaching desk from what you showed here and then added a few tweaks for me to fit what I needed. I watched this when you posted it originally and remembered it when school turned all digital. Thanks for your great ideas!
I bookmarked this a while ago, and I've been meaning to do this. Finally pulled the trigger and honestly it's the best thing I've ever done for my setup. I didn't do it exactly like this. I had an existing light setup that I am happy with. I used the monitor pole and 3 arms to mount my 2 monitors and DSLR. SO MUCH BETTER. I had 2 Ergotron monitor mounts and 1 Elgato poll mount for my DSLR. I have much more flexibility in monitor and camera placement than I did before. DSLR is much closer and eye level, and it doesn't take up desk space because I mounted it high enough to fit stuff under it. Now I just need a dialog pencil mic to replace my dynamic to get my microphone out of frame.
I think that is just one of these - i have one at homr: www.amazon.com.au/KSEIBI-8-Piece-Folding-Hex-Wrench/dp/B06X3R3Q3W/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=allen+key+tool&qid=1577926595&sr=8-3
Steve Ortiz Lucin yeah it sucks I really wanted to do this but since I’m not knowledgeable about this I can’t seem to figure out a substitute. and the last thing I need is to spend a lot of money and have missing parts.
I have also been unable to find a "reasonably priced" 3 segmented long reach arm. The ErgoDirect EDM-1204W seems a bit overkill and pricey. Does anyone know which model was used in this video?
Caleb, thank you so much for this set up! I purchased it and set it up and it's been great! If anyone is reading who has set it up exactly like this with the Rode micro shotgun mic and the plugged in battery source for the Sony Alpha - did you have problems with "buzzing in your video?" I tested the shotgun mic on my camera with a normal battery and it didn't have the extra buzzing. I think it has something to do with the power from the plug in battery. Additionally, I tested this with a Rode shotgun pro mic which has its own power source. It has NO buzzing and worked perfectly. Any help or comments are appreciated! Thanks all and happy content creation!
Interesting take. I have the same setup with the Rode Video Micro and the plug-in battery for my Sony a6400. I get the buzzing too, but it doesn't happen all the time. I'll try using an actual camera battery and see if that makes a difference. In the meantime, since I have a camera cage, I just connected my microphone directly to the camera and mounted the mic on the side so I can still see my flip-up screen. Maybe I should have done that in the first place, and used the mic arm for a monitor. Things to think about.
Michael Morales - yes I copied him nearly exactly because I wanted as few barriers to create content as possible. I knew that if I had to keep setting stuff up it might slow me down. Yes, the Mic which has its own power source works well, or just using a battery on your camera is fine. It's a bummer the contious power supply makes that buzzing! Let me know if you find a work around and happy creating and streaming!
This is a perfect setup for my space (a desk, in spare bedroom, with limited space). The video is fantastic and super easy to follow. I actually purchased all of the pieces (from the affiliate links) and am in the process of setting everything up. I’m just waiting for the stepper but to arrive, so I can modify the arm and the versa plate, per your recommendation.
Does anyone know of a suitable replacement for the 1x2 LED Light (FL-3060 or FL-1x2 LED Mat Light)..? Current model no longer available (UK) and struggling to find another with a softbox.
🗣You’re a freaking genius🤔 This is the most aesthetically pleasing setup I’ve ever seen It doesn’t take up an entire room like most setups Thank you for sharing Happy new year
You could mount a board to the wall behind your couch, mount another board 90 degrees ,clampy-clampy, hang stuff over your head and down in front of you. Boom, instant couch-streaming kinda. I LOVE IT! Mine is mostly wood, PVC, paracord, and dreams! I also need to hang my controller from it, makes gaming interesting. So fluffin’ fun! Cheers!😊
From what planet are the nearly 500 people, as of November 2020, gave this video a thumbs down? I’m barely entertaining the idea of starting a UA-cam channel, and I found this video to be so useful and encouraging. It’s the best video I’ve come across that has helped me process the why and how questions? Thanks!
WOW, I just have to say this is a wonderful video. I really liked the fact that you can move the camera around and get the different angels all without having to move the desk and such. I will be working on building a setup inspired by this video thanks and you rock!
FWIW tripod 'screws' are just 1/4in or 3/8in bolts with a UNC-20 thread, very common and super-cheap. The closest metric equiv is a M6 bolt but the thread pitch is wrong.
Great video! Love the setup. One quick trick to avoid drilling... use a 1/4 thread on the tripod screw to feed it through and then the 3/8" adapter that comes with the ball head. Kinda happened into that outta laziness.
hey there! i'm a total newbie on all this and am very curious as to what this looks like and what you mean exactly. i was going thru amazon and noticing that the tripod screws he recommends are no longer available so i'm spending time trying to find a suitable replacement. if i can avoid drilling that would be ideal. curious if you have a recommendation then on the 1/4 thread screw (i'm seeing so many various heights) and i think from what you're describing here there is an adapter that i can use that comes with the ball head suggested here that i can use to attach the attachment pole to. thanks!
@@theysamtheirs You bet! I love this setup so much that I just added a second stand for my overhead shots using the three arm and so I'm seriously into this one. What I searched for was 1/4" tripod screw. The one I purchased was by SmallRig (SMALLRIG D-Ring Hinged Screw Quick Release Camera Fixing Screw with Standard 1/4-20 Thread for Camera/Tripod Qr Plate, Pack of 5-1611). I really like the quality of SmallRig products and the prices are pretty reasonable. The ball head noted in the video comes with two 1/4 to 3/8" adapters. The 1/4 will easily fit through the existing hole. You can then thread it into the adapter and then thread either onto the tripod extender pole of the ball head directly. Best of luck!
For the more thrifty DIY types - might want to check out how gardeners rig up light stands for their indoor plants made with empty milk jugs filled with sand and pvc pipes fitted together.
I just wanted to come back and comment. I setup the Sony a6400 with Rode VideoMic NTG. LED and stands etc. were all from your parts recommendations. I also built my own sound panels with Rockwool Sound insulation. And I've gotten quite a few "how do you sound so good, what mic are you using?" and "wow, the video clarity is amazing, what webcam are you using?" And finally, I did my own reverb/echo test w/ and w/o the sound panels. It's night and day. So I've come to the conclusion that sound panels and proper lighting matter even more than what mic you're using (excluding trash/cheap mics). Even when I use Jabra Evolve 75 headphone mics, I get compliments on the clarity of the sound. Thank you!
Dude! You’re an absolute legend for this video! My buddy was talking about VESA to solve my problems and now seeing it work in real life has me sold. Amazing! Thank you 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Slow down on the amazing content... I am still trying to put together the stand from the last video. You need to wait at least until I get my next paycheque, geez.
This was a great video and I just built this as shown with a couple differences. The end caps on the VESA mount arms were a little difficult to pry out. Not impossible, but I had to jam a flat head screwdriver multiple times before it finally gave way and came out. I also did not need to enlarge the holes to use the 3/8 tripod screws. The tripod ball head came with two 3/8 to 1/4 tripod screw adapters. I was able to fit the 1/4 tripod screw (included in the recommended tripod screw link) in the existing hole on the arm, and then use the adapter to attach the tripod extension pole for the camera. I also did the same with the long VESA arm for the light, except I used the ball mount and attached directly to the VESA arm rather than use the monitor VESA plate. Hope that makes sense, but I was relieved I didn't have to do any drilling! I also attached the mic mount to the same arm as the camera instead of buying an extra arm. It works for now, but I may add another if I want more flexibility. Thanks again!
Thanks for the tip about the end caps not being easy to pry out. Actually I am stuck on the step right before and can't get the bolt out with an allen wrench like he did in the tutorial and was wondering if maybe the arm is manufactured differently now. Did you have any issues removing the bolt?
Got ya beat mines a UA-cam studio ,my art desk ,modelers studio ,and workspace for computers that would make any pen tester really happy...two computers with four screens. A wrap around desk with a pop up drafting/art table, a swing arm cameras ,and mics on a old lamp arm (The old ones with tension springs. ) I found a lot of my stuff second hand from my local Goodwill Retail or Goodcents (Goodwill Wholesale by the pound not item.)You can get everything from cords, lights, hell anything and everything you just have to dig thru bins to find things not a bad price for digging thru boxes and bins.( I think its .79 a pound for housewares electronics and toys. I wanna say 1.67 a pound for cloths and liens. usually
@@dslrvideoshooter I dropped the link in basically every Discord channel I'm a part of, so hopefully I can send some traffic your way. Always appreciate your thoughtful and thorough content.
@@dslrvideoshooter I want to do both.....Neewer has a Rollable 30x53cm.....Looks almost Identical for $109....The Fostan one specs seems better though but looks like a rebranded version of the neewer so that is confusing, but we will see what happens.......No I need this setup and the C-Stand Setup so I can roll it into the closet and my man cave look pretty for my wife. Thanks! Waiting for next setup to cost money.
With the camera mounted to the desk on that arm, do you get camera shake when you put your hands on the desk, or type on the keyboard, or otherwise touch the desk in any way?
Its a pure joy to watch how he is trying not to touch the table. And when he accidentally touches, the angle goes to the tripod camera. I hope you get the point 😎
thank you. your audio is nice and the quality of your video is really good, and your explanation is really nice. i like how you are so clear and organized. also i like how you just do all the thinking for me, i have an idea for a podcast and i kind of want a turnkey solution so i can just jump in. don't really want to think through all this again. the only thing is i wish you would just put the information all on screen so i don't have to read your description. I was watching your video on a roku device, from there i can't easily check your description. hey wait a minute... i just checked out the camera from your video it costs over $1200. okay so that kind of blows the $391 budget. okay so anyway you have a cool idea for holding up all your av equipment but it makes no mention of the other stuff we beginners need to know. So honestly, not ideal for me but thank you because some of your ideas are really very cool.
He does clearly explain that $391 is for those who have a camera. Maybe you could watch the video again on a computer and read the description there? What else do you need to know?
I am from India and I have tried to setup the similar one desk studio at my place it’s very similar I am just setting up the lighting and camera now. Thanks a ton
thank you so much for this content, I am in the process of ordering this set up and I am using ALL of your PAID links. You deserve it for the work you have done putting this together. Again thank you from DRERTV
This seems like it might have great potential for the amateur musician who might often be working solo. I like that you suggested OBS; it's the one FOSS that I'm aware of that's multicam capable. That's something I'm interested in. At the moment, the only portion that list that I've actually spent money on is a deskclamp scissors stand ( $15.97 on eBay ). In addition to the mic clamp, it has a pop filter and a cell phone clamp. The other items I'll likely take a pause on and accumulate gradually. Still they're very useful and great ideas for ultimately improving the quality of my UA-cam uploads. And no doubt as this transpires, it will involve purchases from among the affiliate links.
Damn... I wasn't aware how much I need this kind of setup until I watched this amazing video, haha! I will make sure to bookmark and save it for the future. Love the tutorial, thanks for sharing!
I was ready to buy a Blue Compass stand and this post has me re-thinking! Currently, I have to pull out big softboxes on stands everytime I want to record/do webinars and I'm not yet using my DSLR for video. This looks like a really easy and convenient set up. Nicely done.
Listen dudes, no one is that smooth in real life. There is a lot of work that goes into this, and Caleb have tons of experience. A script was probably written as well. Do not compare your inside with someone's outside... as someone who've been acting since I'm 6 years old, I can tell you that I, too, can be quite awkward. A lot, actually. But this is cinema.
I already did about 4 months ago. Although, I did have a canon 80D and it just cost me less than 200 bucks. I did not go with awesome recommended lighting. I have been using it daily for my remote work. Now, the next step is how to make a youtube training video (tutorial) for students and need to master OBS.
WOAH! This is exactly what I need. I have an attic space and use an iMac 27" as my computer. I have slanted walls near my desk but I'm sure I can configure this In a manner that can still fit. Im still stunned that I found this video tutorial. Just created my YT channel a couple of weeks ago and need a setup for doing videos and streaming games. Thank you for this!!
Your content is very good, I was thinking of doing something similar but you've obviously thought it through thoroughly and I'm going to take your ideas and do it! Thank you. Definitely subscribing. 10/10
😤😤😤 Review of bought set: Bought the entire set, came to figure out that the set up is very funarable for working on keyboard and arms resting on table. Tried to change everything, incl bought dempers other microphone arm etc but no luck. I didnt hear you about this issue on your video. I ended up to make an additional frame from the wall and an other location from the ceiling. NO HAPPY! 😒
It really is amazing none have come up with a desk pole system with three vertical poles that is clamped that are connected with two horizontal bars, on which you can hang arms for screens, lightning, audio, camera, microphones, even secondary keyboard and a laptop table.
I've been following you for a while. So awesome to see your hard work pay off, see how much you've learned and shared, and see your success. Awesome and congrats

Did you ever find something? I’m looking for the same thing. Especially a soft box with a grid to stop light spill lighting up my background.
🗣You’re a freaking genius🤔
This is the most aesthetically pleasing setup I’ve ever seen
It doesn’t take up an entire room like most setups
Thank you for sharing
Happy new year
You could mount a board to the wall behind your couch, mount another board 90 degrees ,clampy-clampy, hang stuff over your head and down in front of you.
Thanks!
This is also a good alternative: www.ulanzi.com/products/uurig-table-top-universal-live-broadcast-stand?aff=46
I've been struggling to get lighting right with wearing glasses. This looks like a good alternative!
Have you tried Premium Non-Glare/Anti-reflective coating? It's well worth the upcharge.
U have really white teeth
Try using a circular polarizer filter!
@@Unknownmanufacturer I'll check for that. Thank you for the suggestion!
This is one of the best videos I’ve ever seen on UA-cam. You sir, are a genius. Thanks for everything.
Definitely one of the best, if not the best demonstrations on setting up a home studio. Thanks very much.

W-w-w-w-wow! Holy. That's one of the most value-packed instructional UA-cam videos I have ever seen. And I have watched a LOT. Thank you!
8:13 - can anyone else appreciate the slow panning effect that the creator added to this shot because it's the right thing to do?
Amazing! Thank you 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
True!
Slow down on the amazing content... I am still trying to put together the stand from the last video. You need to wait at least until I get my next paycheque, geez.
😂So sorry!
This is my first time seeing his videos! Super pumped.
@@StorybyDiego Welcome aboard man! Thanks for watching!
Sir why you didn't share buying link...
@@narenderkumar-ow7ws all the links are in the description.
You deserve allllll the affiliate income you’ll get from this video. Super well done as always, thanks man!
None of the Amazon links work.
Thanks again!
crap lol I hope I didn't throw those away :) I bought and used this rb.gy/hsmqpe thanks for this m8.
A wrap around desk with a pop up drafting/art table, a swing arm cameras ,and mics on a old lamp arm (The old ones with tension springs. )
I found a lot of my stuff second hand from my local Goodwill Retail or Goodcents (Goodwill Wholesale by the pound not item.)You can get everything from cords, lights, hell anything and everything you just have to dig thru bins to find things not a bad price for digging thru boxes and bins.( I think its .79 a pound for housewares electronics and toys.
I wanna say 1.67 a pound for cloths and liens.

With the camera mounted to the desk on that arm, do you get camera shake when you put your hands on the desk, or type on the keyboard, or otherwise touch the desk in any way?
Great point!
would love to know the answer to shake. I have tried this with canon and iphone and get quite a bit of shake from a sturdy desk.
Why the heck are people disliking this video!? Probably because they are jealous about this setup...
Awesome video mate, thanks for sharing.
I couldn't find the link for the flexible light :/
Its a pure joy to watch how he is trying not to touch the table. And when he accidentally touches, the angle goes to the tripod camera.
I hope you get the point 😎

when gaming on this setup, does it shake the camera around?
thank you. your audio is nice and the quality of your video is really good, and your explanation is really nice. i like how you are so clear and organized. also i like how you just do all the thinking for me, i have an idea for a podcast and i kind of want a turnkey solution so i can just jump in. don't really want to think through all this again. the only thing is i wish you would just put the information all on screen so i don't have to read your description.
This is a set up I’ve needed forever!
I wonder what claim is used to attach the mic rig to the stand?
This is sick, I've got like 70% of the parts already looks like I've got an afternoon project to toss together 🤷🏻♂️
That's awesome! Good luck building it!
thank you so much for this content, I am in the process of ordering this set up and I am using ALL of your PAID links. You deserve it for the work you have done putting this together. Again thank you from DRERTV
This video helped me build a great little setup just like this!!
A bit of fill and a soft backlight or ceiling bounce(even with your lack of hair) would really help round out your look. Great tips!
This is awesome, Caleb! Would you trust this setup on an adjustable standing desk?
I used on my adjustable standing desk. Worked fine.
This is brilliant, thanks!

How can this setup be adapted to live-stream into a zoom room? 🤷♀️ With so many people working from home, this could be a good solution. 🤓
If you get the Camlink (or similar HDMI-to-USB) capture device, your camera capture device should show up as a device in Zoom, as a “webcam”.
