#CauldronBorn #EbonJaguar #Battletech
My twin brother's favorite mech. He calls it a dry-cleaned MadCat.
Battletech be like: See that Madcat we made all crouchey? Actually based off the Hellbringer lol"
I only know about Cauldron Born from Lloyd Alexander's series of books. It's, like, Welsh mythology, correct?
@@pstrap1311 Yes. The Cauldron-Born were deathless warriors. If you've seen the Disney film, 'The Black Cauldron' that's where it's from. It's an Irish myth, I think. These resurrected warriors, golems powered by the cauldron's magic, were unkillable.
mine favourite by far too
The Ebon Jaguar just cuts the crap, and carries a mass of pod space
I've always loved how the cauldron born looked and played, especially in MW4 mercs and mwo.
The Wolf’s Dragoon’s were the first ones to see it on Luthian. So they got to name it. Thus the Celtic name.
You do know that Wolf's Dragoons was a clan sleeper cell, they were acting as mercenaries but were spying on reporting on the capabilities of the inner sphere.
There is a Mech you should look into, the Goss Hawk or as the clans call it the Vapor Eagle.
I'll add it to the list of potential topics :)
@@GrimDarkNarrator sounds good, there is also the Goliath assault quad Mech to look into.
It's my old friend, The Grimdark Narrator, with battletech lore when I am in need. Cheers bud!
Cheers!
yay my Irish heritage gets representation in a hard to kill package
The mech doesn't have much artwork because it was born during the period FASA was downsizing in the years leading up to their withdrawal from the miniature wargames market (not even sure it even got a miniature before Catalyst took over). Where most of the lore and associated mechs of it made at the time were all tied into novella as well as Scenario Packs with greater focus being moved to video games. It was a featured mech of Operation BULLDOG. In fact, Mechwarrior 3 is one of the few Battletech video games to come out at around roughly the same time of the setting of it's game did for Tabletop.
Still surprises me that the mech was not the featured mech of Mechwarrior 3, with the cutscene involving the Timber Wolf, Mad Dog, a Summoner and an Atlas with said mechs on the cover art; while the starting mech for the player being a Bushwacker as well as featuring mechs such as the Annihilator. With the Cauldron Born being the featured antagonist mech of the Jaguars. Likely a product of the rocky development of the game. Because the cutscene for the game feels entirely out of place to it's setting and the box art should of featured a Bushwacker and a Cauldron Born. But guess they have to show off the 'popular' mechs from Mechwarrior 2 to sell it.
To be honest, there's a lot of mechs around with little artwork, some of them really cool looking.
This was my fav from the first battletech book. And Maelstrom to be fair. Always loved me some giant stompystomp dethbots
First time I faced one was in MW2 Mercenaries, during the Battle of Luthien. Actually was able to salvage it, but getting ammo for it was impossible. Still was a good mech, and outclassed just about every Inner Sphere mech that I had.
One other Famous (or infamous, if you're a Clanner), pilot, was Star Commander Trent, the one who leaked the Exodus Road to the Inner Sphere. His last battle as a Smoked Jaguar was in a Cauldron Born.
"Smoked?" Yeah, what were those Jaguars smoking anyway?
@@julianares1343 Burning Cockpits in the end.
I use lots of 65 tonnes mechs in may clan list, but in the end I radly use the Ebon Jaguar chassis in MWO. You can put good loadout in the soulders of a Hellbringer...but not the style of Ebon Jaguar. Even the Linebacker lose for me. The Ebon Jaguar is something special to my eyes, hehe. Thanks GDN ;)
You're very welcome!
I hate the inner sphere! I cheer every time someone from the inner sphere dies.
covering one of my personal all time favs. outstanding
Thanks for watching!
This is my favorite mech. A 2nd is the Puma.
Cool design. I'd actually love to try this one out.
The A variant is one of the nastiest mech I've ever played. Loves to sit out and fence with its ER large lasers lets its prey get it close then double tap with the ultra. Brutal nasty machine. Had a lot of luck with the H variant as well. B I almost want to say to the designer pick a main array. feels like PPC's and med pulse lasers would have been fine Large pulse lasers over mediums would have been fine pick one (probably pick the LPLs to kill lights and fast meds) then use the extra tonnage for ECM machine guns or a flamer for anti infantry work in a city. Over all its a great chassis but most of its configurations save for the A, B and H are lack luster Prime gause is a great weapon to build around but an LRM 10 as back up to a long range weapon is kinda silly and I tend not to like mechs whos energy array is a tertiary option. You aren't staying in the field if you run dry in the ammo bins. C really has this problem as it has no energy at all which to me is a sin as high as leg mounted weapons in mech building. D Feels like its competing against the A and B and both those configs do its job so much better.
Thanks for the share.
Despite the cannon configuration weaknesses she is one of my favorite clan mechs. My clan RP character piloted one and the configuration I most used was the A. Fights well in a cify has the speed to fight well in the field too. Can do things with the Ac that I've only ever seen the executioner or the summoner D can do and dare i say it does it better than both due to the large ammo bin
I had a KNEX Cauldron Born as a kid
Nice memories, I'm sure :)
@@GrimDarkNarrator Next time you do a mech, and you can't find many pics of it, sprinkle in their KNEX versions if you can.
How much is it to sponsor a Mech or two?
To be honest, I left it to the guy who requested it. For this mech and about 3 others, they were sponsored by the same person, it was 15$ per video. You can send me an email for more details if you want :)
👍
I never cared for this one, as it seems to be yet another example of "not a Mad Cat but reallllllly close" design. I think it's the high torso mounts that push it there.
Hello UA-cam algorithm.
No idea what feebirth drivel a "cauldron born" is supposed to be.
There's an Irish myth about it.
In MW3, after I salvaged one, I piloted a Cauldron Born almost all the way to the end, only switching out for a Daishi for the last few missions.
Same with me and the Champion
Nice :)
This thing is a monster in Mechwarrior Living legends.
My favourite Mech, an all around bad-ass and looks just oh so cool too!
That things looks bad ass!!
I always thought this thing looked kind of wonky. I remember trying it a few times in my MW3 playthroughs, but not enjoying it.
Doesn't sound so bad in Japanese: Umareta Ōkama
In MWO, this 'mech is the dirtiest little missile boat. I armed mine with 4 ATM9s and a medium pulse laser. It's disgusting...ly beautiful.
If there is one thing the clans are good at, it is creating mechs that are fast, versatile and perform like inner sphere mechs of heavier classes. The Cauldron Born is no exception.
Agreed
Nice! loved this mech in Mechwarrior 3
My favorite clan heavy. I won a heavy tournament in the pods (mw4) piloting it and it is the backup for my merc group's commander.
0:58 ...loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. --Maximus Decimus Meridius, Gladiator.
Most kuritans are not necessarily of Japanese decent, the ruling family and a large part of Luthian are, but the inner sphere is a large diverse place.
That's true. I've read of kuritan leaders that were black or even slavic.
Maybe a Kell Hound gave it such a Name after Luthien?
For many, many years the Mad Cat was my favorite Mech. However, with the MWO and later CGL visual revamp of the Ebon jaguar, it's now my favorite. I use it whenever I can in my BT games!
The only thing I can complain about it is the lack of jump jets.
it has underwater jump jets, is shaped perfectly for a shark paintjob and works great as a predator in coastal areas
Like the addition of a Mechwarrior story ;)
Looks like an E.D.-209. lol
