I get the sarcasm but it's the same concept of a Stealth Battleship which are an actual thing. You aren't going to *not* see it with your eyeballs but when you're trying to watch an entire front you can't have eyeballs everywhere. Radar dampening paint, radar reflective armor, heat masking, acoustic dampening all can be used to hide it from electronic surveillance so it can slip behind enemy lines. What gets me though is Stealth Battleships try to use a low profile to keep off of enemy radar and this thing is a bipedal monstrosity that stands probably 3-4 stories tall. I guess if you kept to heavily wooded areas but wouldn't that mess with electronic surveillance anyway?
I had very little information about this Mech, before. Prior to this video, my only real knowledge of it was in the novels: such as a scene in the Battle of Tukayyid
One of my old time favorites from the tabletop game back in the 1990s. Kind of funny how without thinking of it as a stealth mech that I painted my Exterminator miniature a reflective sky blue from Ral Partha's paint set. Thanks GrimDark Narrator for the very interesting video. Am curious now to see if its in HBS BATTLETECH game.
My dream is to cover all the mechs in the setting. Unfortunately, a lot of them don't have enough lore for individual videos so at some point I'll probably have to do 2 per video.
The Exterminator is a great covert ops mech. Keep the enemy busy with an advance lance and then have this mech take out any C3 Master Unit equipped mechs.
@@GrimDarkNarrator exactly. I ran a tabletop scenario on my ship in the Coast Guard during off duty hours and we would use a couple of Exterminator with Null Sig to ambush missile boats and C3 units. Our opponents were Clan Nova Cats and they hated it when we would pull these guys out.
@@noppornwongrassamee8941 It has worked for me in the past. Especially with Stealth armor. Sometimes it is not about delivery an Alpha strike, it is about causing confusion and drawing first blood.
The Exterminator 4-DB is one of my favorite Star League era Mechs along with the Lancelot 01-X. As a fan of jump capable all energy weapon Heavies there wasn't much for me to use in the way of official designs until the mid 31st century.
@@GrimDarkNarrator yes it is, especially for a heavy. It seems too much of a trade off though, leaving firepower seriously lacking. I think it's the " pawn taking the queen" scenario. Go in fast kill the objective and get out, if you can.
I see what you did there Grim! The Capellen Confederation has a major Chinese majority, and history. Made in China knockoff, indeed. On a more serious note, some Clan's do employ Headhunters; they use Elemental points instead of Mechs. Good job as always. Not a bad mech, just very specialized. A disco ball with speed to burn. This laser boat really excels in melee. It is a true threat with lost technology.. speed kills before 3039 and ecm and advanced armor ramp it up after that. It's a good skirmisher with no Expendables to be concerned with sure to its major energy load out. An exterminator in the right place and right moment is devastating. If it's a sniper or missile boat formation this mech will break up the formation at a minimum and can demolish much larger machines once inside minimum range, it's speed keeps it there and makes it a danger to unsupported awesome and long bow mechs. It's weight lends to ready melee attacks. If it has any short comings it's jumping, total range and overall firepower. It's not a brawler or Juggernaut so Bob and weave and stick a shiney first up at assault mechs butt. If you stand toe to toe you will suffer. In the RPG lack of ammo to pay for in most versions helps but it's armor and lack of resupply parts hinder it. But off the grid or behind lines it has the armor to get you back. It's a specialist machine and decent outside that role of just barely. Other than comstar and it's off shoot it's not likely to be a good choice other than scrap and sell. Run this sucker stupid in all cases and be aggressive while it lasts.
Hi. Good video, but I have a doubt. In the image with the six 'mechs of Comstar lance, there are a Exterminator, a Bombardier, a Lancelot, a Hussar, a Mangoose and a ... what? I don't identify this last mech (the fourth by left). Can someone say me which one is it? Thanks a lot.
The Exterminator and the Berserker were the first two mechs I played in my first game of the table top of Battletech. Thank you for the lore videos.
Great mech. A little under gunned but still not bad.

Battle tech logic: Giant mech stomping around + camo tech = stealthy
At least its stealthier than an Atlas :D
@@GrimDarkNarrator Hey, The Atlas is stealthy. When you kill everything that sees you, nobody can report your position!

65 tons of "behind-the line" fun!!!!! A severely underestimated and underappreciated 'mech. Love the photos of the actual mini's.

Nicholas Kerensky hated the Exterminator and one exterminator pilot in particular
