- Today we get the country version of Hypa Hypa, and honestly, I wasn't expecting a group of Germans to release a country song that is more country sounding than most of the songs on country radio in the US right now.

Watching this guy's reactions is like listening to the song with a bro. He's so genuine, seems like a guy you'd want to have a beer with. Subbed
Thanks a ton, man!
aber sowas von 😁👌🏻🇩🇪
richtiger guter Typ, einfach angenehm
Would you believe, that they played at Wacken? They did.
Saw them in Wacken. It was great!
Saw them 2019. Awesome, although there was some heavier band on the faster stage while they were on the louder - quite the interference where we stood 😕 still awesome concert
I still am hoping to see Sabaton to do a cover of Hypa Hypa. I can just see her with her pink hair and lollypop painted on the nose of a WWII fighter plane. It would be jaw-droppingly wierd.
DAMN you're right, she's completely got the pinup girl aesthetics down perfectly!
LOL that would be a banger for sure )))
I would pay good money to see this
The perfect song for Nashville? Country really isn’t normally my boat but this is excellent. The Hypa Hypa train powers on.
With your background in country music, I'm surprised you haven't done more reactions to The Bosshoss. They're fantastic!
We've checked em out a few times on my Twitch streams.
14-15 years ago I was at one of their first "big" concerts at a city festival here in Germany. I had never heard of them before and was completely blown away after two songs. As a metalhead i still listen to them because they make amazingly good handmade music. If you'd like to try more, check out "Don't gimme that"
Maybe you can see a cover off from reactions. They covered Hey Yah from Outcast. And that song fits Country so well!
The first time I heard something from them was in a similar situation. I was passing by as they were playing at a city festival and I really enjoyed them
@@chrstiania Bochum Total? :D
@@Loki1909 I've been to Bochum Total multiple times. But I think this might have been the Hafenfest in Münster
I saw TheBossHoss at a Dorffest once. So good.
For your information: Karl May had a huge influence on german speaking countries with his books (i.g. Winnetou, Old Shatterhand, etc.). Everything Wild West has a avid fandom till this day and many Mexico-Western, Italo-Western and US-Western count as classics-you-have-to-know.
I'd recommend the BossHoss cover of "Joline"
There is no reason for me recommending it. It's just a nice Song
I just watched a video of that and them covering Word Up….that is an interesting combination.
You really need to check these guys out! I really like "TheBossHoss" even though I'm not that much into country, but they have some serious bangers (Don't gimme that, Dos Bros or the Joline cover)!!!
They also were coaches in "The Voice of Germany" for the first 3 years and in the german senior and kids show from "The Voice"
"Hey Ya" is another country-country-song by them, which I highly recommend. And, of course, "Don't gimme that".
They became "famous" with the cover of "Like ice in the sunshine" in Germany (which was originally a promotion-song, played in every cinema right before the movie started).
I just love how our bands and groups are blowing you over and over again xD so yes, pls check Boss Hoss more out! :D
I once Met them on a flight from Berlin to Düsseldorf. Very cool guys no celeb behaviour. They participate in a German TV Show called Sing my Song where a bunch of musicians get together and Cover the Songs of the others. The time there were hosts was the Best Episodes. So they know how to Cover
I grew up on the BossHoss due to my parents being big fans since the band got together. I learned some of their lyrics before I even started to learn English, which really surprised my parents back then.
I'd recommend either Rodeo Radio or Last Day (Do or Die) if you want to check out more of their music.
That’s awesome! Thanks for the suggestion!
there is one more Hypa Hypa version that isn't on the CD, its from Kalle (cook in MCthunder and middle man in the Dance at the end of the original video) called Hypa Hypa mama mia
It seems Hypa Hypa can be made as a hit song in any category! Love this! Great version. The baseline is awesome! Good reaction as always Tank!
Hi Tank, have you heard of "The Twang"? Another great German band.. Since 1997 they have "countryfied" many famous songs, they have also played at SXSW Festival in Austin in 2009.
I don't know all albums, but I like their country version of "Oops I did it again", "Born to be alive", "Gimme all your lovin", "Sympathy for the devil"...
Please, more BossHoss reactions! You can check out their versions for Hey Ya or Word Up or original stuff like Do it, Don't gimme that or AYO!
yeah, guess Don’t Gimme That was their greatest hit in germany... quite some years ago. There also should be plenty of live shows with gear... the MVs often only show bikes & chicks... they love&live that stereotype of modern day cowboys being on the road.
I guess you have to inform us all if this will make it into the US country scene :) or.. maybeee... if you still have connections to the radio country scene in the US and as you said this is pretty good... maybe show it to some people there :)
looking forward to news in this direction :D
Do it. Do it tank. Forward it to everyone country, country-related or country-adjacent. And never even mention it's a cover version. 😅
As a person living in Oklahoma, I think this would chart top 10 in the "Country Charts".
Hey Tank, good to hear, that you like our two german cowboys. I´m not that much of a country-fan, but i very appreciate their country-rock. "Don´t gimme that", "ayo", " i like it like that" and if it´s not enough country than i would recommend the covers of "like ice in the sunshine", "Toxic" and "i say a little prayer". Alec (the bearded guy) was in the german masked singer as Alien btw. and had really good stages there.
There are actually a few German Countrybands. one of the "ole-Originals" is a Band called Truckstop from northern Germany. I am not too familiar with their material, but I think they sing mostly in german.
Yeah, TruckStop sing mostly in German (as far as I know, but I'm not a hardcore country fan, I just dabble); other musicians are Tom Astor (he also has English songs, I think?), Gunter Gabriel, Freddy Quinn, Texas Lightning, ...
(yeah, my music taste is kinda eclectic...I mean, I found the channel through SaMo so 🤷🏻♀️😂)
Oh, the thoughts of nostalgia ^^' When I was a wee lass in a stroller my parents and I'd been to these trucker festivals here in Germany and those guys were there, as well :) Though I gottag admit, I've been sooo young, I do not remember a single song by them. If I were to suggest any European country/ country -adjacent band, I'd go with former Eurovision winners "The Common Linnets". They're or better were Dutch, not German, but their singer Ilse does carry on and she's a real great singer 🥰
@TankTheTech The BossHoss participated in the TV-Show "The Voice Of Germany (Voice Kids)" as a double seat coach team. After they won the dam thing, they released a song together with their talents duo "Mimi and Josy". You can check out their song "Little help". The original video shows them during the process of recording the song in the studio, so there possible is a lot of gear to talk about for you ;)
The Boss Hoss were judges on the German The Voice show, there you can see them talking German. And yes, they speak clean German and just imitate the American accent. :)
Just imagine they are going to play this song live and the audience starting to do a Line Dance TO THAT SONG. I would freaking die!
Btw: There is also a lyrics video for the last Hypa Hypa version from Gestört aber geil.
Fun song! I only really missed the Döpp, Döpp, Döpp.
Oh The Boss Hoss. A German duo that sounds american than americans 😁.
You must see from BossHoss "Little Help" ft. Mimi & Josie.
(song against Bullies)
And from Mimi & Josie "Creep" (cover)
Take the version of "The voice kids" if you want to see something exceptionally good 🤘
I want see it bitte Tank
You are so right!!!
Oh, but it's not a Duo. It's a 7-People-Band with two singers 😉
BossHoss Singer Alec Voelkel was the Alien on Germanys Version of "The Masked Singer". Check out this Videos. Great Voice and Perfomance. The Sound of Silence.
There are so many German country bands and singers. They are singing mostly about truck driving. One or maybe the biggest German country band is even called 'Truck Stop'.
Great reaction again mate.
You should show this song to one of those guys you work with in the country scene and see their reaction. Of course without telling them that they are German before hand ^^
Jolene - The Boss Hoss feat The Common Linnets (Dutch Country band)
Also, if you haven't checked them out yet, check out Apocalyptica
- Bittersweet (feat. Ville Valo & Lauri Ylönen)
- I'm no Jesus (feat Corey Taylor)
Also
Architects - Animals ( orchestral live at Abbey Roads)
Ohhh you should absolutely check out more of BossHoss' stuff! Maybe 'Don't gimme that'?
i mean, who could listen to this song and not smile :D i dont really listen to country music, but the goddamn catchiness of EC and hypa hypa specifically is just too powerful!
So funny you reviewed TheBossHoss 😀. It was a real surprising & hilarious blast when I experienced their performance years ago on the Bospop festival in the Netherlands! Especially when other names on the program where Dream Theater, Joe Cocker, Texas, Thin Lizzy, etc etc 🤣😂
I strongly recommend the video of their Wacken-performance in 2015. There is a Video here at UA-cam, recorded by a tv-station, "arte".
Should be really enough to dig into it, including crowdsurfing etc.
You know Kingsman Golden Circle? The Endboss Theme is from theBossHoss too XD
Boss Hoss are really great dudes. And this means both: great characters and great musicians.
Definently make sure you gonna check Out more of them.
It's amazing :D
Ha, remembered to comment during live stream this time. Boss Hoss i like a lot. I think they deserve another song to react to
TheBossHoss have been one of the Headliners at Wacken 2019. I spent nice 120 min in front of Center Stage and forgot for some moments my passion for metal music 😂 Awesome live performers they are. The metal audience at Wacken freaked out 🤣🤘
If I remember correctly from what I heard about them in their beginning days, they themselves are rock and metalheads, and just started the country thing as they liked the gimmick/humour. (But don't quote me on that.)
That definitely explains how they can vibe so strongly with the metal audience because they love the same things.
They even host their own show on Radio Bob (German rock radio station, you can get the app) and play a nice mix of old school rock, country and so on.
I can imagine that for sure! Saw the live on a festival in NL and they were an awesome surprise👍🏻
Haven't finished the complete reaction yet, but it's time for my take on this EP. This is definitely my favorite version! Followed by the Saltatio Mortis, Sascha versions. The WBTWB was not my favorite musically, but that was my favorite video of them all.
When Rammstein released their greatest hits they had one new song on there called Mein Land. On the deluxe version of the CD there was an English version of that song by The Boss Hoss called My Country.
I had no idea that was The Boss Hoss!
They were in Sing my Song, too, that's like the German version of Beste Zangers, which Floor did participate in in 2019, if I remember right. And they were coaches in Voice of Germany ^^'. I'd almost say they're kinda mainstream (which doesn't have to be a bad think, I'd say :)) I kinda like the cover of "Jolene" with Dolly herself on if I remember right, other than that I don't really know too many songs by them, so it's a bit hard to suggest any, but there's prolly someone else in here that can jump in ;)
I am not a big country music fan. But coming from Germany you know "The Boss Hoss" because they are somewhat omnipresent in the Radio and TV medias, meaning they are pretty popular! And They are pretty good. They definatly know whart they do!
Let's face facts boys : This version is really very good. It fullfills the genre perfectly. The only thing i wanna see is RAMMSTEIN doing a cover of HYPA HYPA!🤠
So 3,5 Minutes of Till Lindemann pounding his leg meat to mush? :D
The BossHoss are really famous here in Germany. You should check out "Don't gimme that". It's one if their biggest hits!
Damn im realy addicted to your reacts i normaly watch one or too an switch to a book or TV but since i found you i have to remember myself its time to go to bed because time runs so fast watching you for hours. I say it again keep this up Dude love it. So much fun ...Prost(cheers)
Hi Tank, I know another German band, you have to listen. It's called "die Ärzte" the doctors and they call them self "die beste Band der Welt" and means the best band of the world. They do Funpunk and are one of the most popular Punk bands in Germany. They shows are about 3 hours and the take themselves not really seriously.
There´s only one god: BelaFarinRod ;)
We need country bands in North America to do this as a lark in concerts.
Great reaction Tank. If you want more BossHoss check out Last day (do or die) . Cheers 😁
hehe...you could tell this version of Hypa Hypa hit the closest to home for Tank out of any react on the channel since it started. Today's country music, tell us how you really feel man!
Lovely!! And yet here is me waiting patiently for Powerwolf's "Dancing with the Dead" reaction :)
Loved the reaction. Thank you!!! Now I cant wait for you listening to BossHoss. Greetings from Germany 😁
This is funny as heck and I love how they just nail the accents and everything that is stereotypically "country" for us euro-folks.
"being a new Father myself"
Congratulations Tank!
Thank you!
Just imagine this song with a live action video. The animated version isn't bad, but it deserves a live action video.
Only just came across your channel today. This is without doubt the best version of Hypa Hypa ever and I'm a metal head myself.
🤘🤘🤘
I’ve just checked them out on UA-cam and Jesus Christ have you seen how many views they have on their videos, one video has 22 million views
I definitly want to have a beer with you. Unfortunately Nashville is some thousand miles too far away. Subbed
Maybe someday!
Love it..Thought Smokey and the Bandit at first 😄
Hey Tank, Bosshoss are really cool dudes, they have some real good country and rockabilly stuff. They also like to jump over some fences and try something completely different. In germany they took part on a show called sing my song, where german artists are invited to share good times and to cover songs from each others, making it their songs.
They covered a hit from one of the all time greatest german pop idols NENA (You might know 99 red ballons?). Here you can see live footage from a concert where she actually joined them to perform the song together: ua-cam.com/video/1C04pQi-JdU/v-deo.html
Wow what a great reaction. You should check out The Boss Hoss indeed
Wouldn't call country a big thing in Germany, but it's also not a very unpopular niche. My local radio station plays two hours of country and western each saturday between 6pm and 8pm.
I consider BossHoss a parody band. They don't really take themself too serious, but they take the music serious. First song they blew up with here was the cover of Outkast's "Hey Ya!" and I saw that very often on MTV (back when they still had music on that channel instead of only reality shows and cartoons ...). It was a great time with fun covers in unusual styles - Dick Brave and the Backbeats with a rockabilly cover of Aerosmith's "Walk that Way" came out around the same time.
I saw "Dos Bros" from BossHoss recommended in live chat for an original song of them and I can confirm that it's a banger (just be careful not to use the "adult version" of the music video) - The live version that can be found on the official channel is also nice, but I don't know how much of a hassle vevo is for reactions and it seems like all their videos have that vevo mark on them ...
Another german country band I remember from a long time ago and which was quite popular here for a while is Truck Stop, but their most popular songs here had german lyrics and the style also is a lot more "poppy" (in lack of better word).
Just Listen to the Word Up Song of Boss Hoss its also in the Movie Kingsman the golden circle soooo worth!
The Boss Hoss were even judges on the german version of " The Voice"
Was waiting, if you check this version out.
BossHoss is this metalheads guilty pleasure, love their sound and covers.
And your question, no they are more decent gentlemen than hillbillies.
If you want this, try steve n seagulls from finland ;)
I would really recommend some BossHoss for ya. They have so many good ones. Saw them 4 times and they are blasting it on stage. Good ones to react to would be "Don't Gimme That" "She" "Dos Bros" or "Jolene". Keep it up man!
I'm really love it too, their cover of Jolene is a really beautiful song worth listening too.
So far I know, they did a tour in america.
They are very cool, if Alec talkes, his voice sound phantastic deep and special 😁
I like the musicvideo and song" Dos Bros" very much ❤️
I would love to see a reaction from you to this guys 😁
They are very famos here and they always wearing this Cowboy Outfits. They life that way 😜❤️
Take care ❤️
Yes Tank you have to listen to more Boss Hoss they are such a fun band, I am pure Metal and punk. But I still love Boss Hoss and have seen them live about 8 times. Love from the UK
Theres ist accutally an Interview with the Singer of Escimo Callboy and the two Guys of The Boss Hoss. You can find it by the German Rock Radio: Radio Bob! There ist an really cool Podcast: Rodeo Radio
That's as well on their YT channel: ua-cam.com/video/Pmz1Vl4kEpI/v-deo.html
Shake "n" shout from the boss hoss, amazing song
Some songs to get to know them:
„Don‘t gimme that“
„Dos Bros“ (there is also an uncensored version 🔥)
One song I really like is a cover, but a very, very good one: „Jolene“ feat. The Common Linnets
From „Jolene“ there is also a live version on their UA-cam channel
This is Country Country! -
Tank the Tech 2021
I love the boss hoss. One of my favorites is their cover of rammsteins mein land. Its called my country.
The BossHoss are a great live band with the two frontmen (well ... Boss and Hoss) and a full band playing behind them. They became popular in Germany by performing contemporary pop songs in a country disguise. To some degree they seam to be a little bit a cliché country band. But nevertheless they are decent musicians and make serious music - but never forget the fun!
Here something to hear: ua-cam.com/video/c8hezhw3zGw/v-deo.html
I agree with others, "Jolene" and "Don`t gimme that" are possibly the most popular or at least well known of them, especially since, as you said yourself, country is more of a niche in here in Germany. Aside from very few singles that made it into the charts there is not a very big market here, certainly not as big as elsewhere. As for the BossHoss, I believe, it is best to view them as musicians, who take their music but don`t take themselves too serious, kinda like Eskimo Callboys themselves. Or Rammstein. Or the Aerzte. Or Knorkator.... Now that I think about it, quite a few german musicians are more the "lets make it fun"-type instead of "lets take it seriously"..... Probably why I like them :P
Maybe you should check out "German Country" like Tom Astor, Jonny Hill or Truck Stop. ^^
Also looking them up to see what they're about. Also, kudos to Eskimo Callboy for taking their absolute viral banger and leveraging it to grow exposure for their friends.
my favorite version of Hypa Hypa. It's just great :)
and for your information: Lord of the Lost just released another song incl. video
Another great Reaction 🤘❤
Another awesome German Metal Band i think you probably like: Soulbound - Alive ❤
Two more music styles you wouldn‘t expect so perfectly played/performed by German artists that they are accepted in the countries of origin?!
Fiddlers Green
They are a Speedfolk / Folk Punk / Folk Rock band from Germany that was founded in 1990. The band has kept up the mix of traditional Irish or Scottish songs and self-written tracks, though the self-written tracks have progressively become less and less folky. The band's influences are wide and varied, but obviously heavily influenced by Celtic rock bands like the Pogues, the Waterboys and Great Big Sea. Recent albums also see a clear influence from Gothic rock music. Having enjoyed growing success in and around Germany, the band reached 1000 played concerts already in 2004.
The Drunken Sailor

Doing a deep dive on The BossHoss. Thank you!
Germany is a "transit country" in the middle of Europe (hence the Autobahn). Back in the 70s-90s country music and trucking culture had a very strong fan base in Germany. Today it's more of a niche, but amongst international names German country artists like Tom Astor, Johnny Hill or Truck Stop are still recognised to this days.
For Germans impersonating Americans: Sascha (the guy you watched the pop version with) has an alter ego called "Dick Brave and the Backbeats" and hes doing an american accent as well. But, they do Rock and Roll ^^
And for Country: German truck drivers listen mostly to country and country rock ^^ Its a sterotype, but its true ^^
Your Videos are amazing. I discovered your channel yesterday and can't stop watching!
I have some bands for you that you eventually not know(?).
Skámöld & Sinfóniuhljómsveit Islands - Kvadning
Coppelius - Schöne Augen
(and yes it's a metal band)
Heilung - In maidjan
I hope you enjoy this bands. 😉
Thanks a ton! I've been meaning to check out a couple of those bands, so thanks for reminding me!
I have Seen them live, they Never Fall out of their roles, they Talk like That all the time on Stage, Even tough they Play in Germany
And the song just keeps working....amazing.
And another good fun video too.
And another good Roadie Reaction as well, despite there being little going on gear wise.
Finally the German Cowboys made it to Nashville. ;)
When I heard them first somewhere around 2005 or 2006 I really thought they where US based. You can guess my confusion when I found out that they're from Berlin. They're very funny and always highly entertaining. Oh, and they are big fans of Tarantino movies so maybe you should check out some of their other videos. ;)
Great reaction!! I don't do country but I decided if you did a reaction I would watch. So thank you, I loved it!!
I once toured Europe with the eagles and the boss hoss supported one of there outdoor gigs,
I am being fully serious when I say I have never seen anything like it! Germans LOVE country and everything Americana. The vast majority of the crowd was dressed up in full cowboy gear, everyone was bringing out there imported Cadillacs and Chevy bel airs it was NUTS
As for boss hoss, very weird, all there music is proper country and pop country they have a huge following and they are what everyone thinks rock bands are like backstage………I am sure books will be written one day,
Also melted my head a bit when I realised one of there instrumentalists is from the UK
BossHoss also did a cover of Word Up for the movie Kingsman2
I can't speak towards the country scene in Germany, but I am aware that there's a steady rockabilly scene here. And our friend Sasha was, as you already researched, a part of that for a while, going by Dick Brave and the Backbeats. If I remember correctly, they also did a mix of covers and original songs. Some of the covers were even of Sasha's old pop songs. I think you'd dig those as well, as it's a very similar kind of humour.
The Bosshoss also were the jury of „the Voice Kids“ and took a song with two sisters of the show.
Damn i'm a german metal head.
this is a casting show.
but anyway, fu&€ it, it's good music.
you have the take a look at "little help"
I did a little search for TheBossHoss and it turns out they do a bunch of cover songs of American bands. They did Word Up by Cameo, Hey Yeah by Outkast etc. They are pretty good if you are into Country Music.
Honestly the Bosshoss are great! I personally would recommend the eps before the whole Jolene hype - for example Flames of Fame rocks!
I love the BossHoss. I think I'm listening to them since '05 or '06. Still I always felt like lying when I said, I love country music, because it was almost only them who I was listening to. But now I know I can say with confidence, that I love country :D
BTW: you should definitely check out their live shows, because even though they're a German band mostly performing in German speaking countries, they almost only talk English on stage and really sell the whole "cowboy vibe"
If you like what youve heard from TheBossHoss I can heartily recommend reacting to Dont Gimme That from TheBossBoss
There is a small Country Community in Germany since the 1950s.
TheBossHoss is a quite young band.
one of the older german Country bands are:
Truck Stop, Winchester 75, Silverwood, Nashville Music Company (short NMC)
And Solo Artists:
Freddy Quinn, Gunter Gabriel(died 2017), Tom Astor and Fred Ray(died 2015).
There is or was a Theme Park near my homeplace "Western City" invented by Fred Ray, and I was there pretty often with my parents. It was hard for when I heard Fred Ray dead.
Today I am more in to metal, but thinks like folk music, country and classic music is somthing I am not completely against.
Another great video. Keep it up!
Greetings from Germany
I'd love to watch more The BossHoss reactions. Check out Don't gimme that, Rodeo Radio, Last Day. Also Low Voltage is a great LP that's their songs unplugged with an orchestra. Really great. I love all your stuff here man. 👌🏼🤘🏼
Greetings from Germany
