Maaaan it was so much fun to watch your video :D Thanks so much. Great to see some "folk nerd talk" too. Keep going 🔥
SaMo is here **intensiv fanboy noises**
Thank you guys so much! I’m so glad I discovered your group and can’t wait to listen to more!
@@TheSleipnirThe 😅🍻
I still regret that I didn't buy the ticket that allowed me into the concert field at the Medieval Christmas Market in Fredenbaumpark in Dortmund when you guys were playing. I missed the chance for one hell of a party there!
@@Caildyn Fredenbaum... Thanks for the (blurry) flashback. 😅
(Didn't see SM there, though... Or I did, but mead.🤔)

@@MrNecrosage I'd love to see these guys live sometime now that I know who they are. Definitely doing more reactions in the future.
@@MrNecrosage i shure do hope that they are alive then :D

Dang. Tank bringing out those ö :D
That says it all.
In Extremo,Corvus Corax,Tanzwut,Subway to Sally,Schandmaul,Feuerschwanz.....you just started your Journey into German Folk Metal !!!!!
Their all great 👍👍 + Fiddler's Green for a little Irish Speed Music
Das who is who des Stockbrots. (Rainald Grebe Referenz? Niemand? Okay...)
I have a feeling Tank would love espacially In Extremo
Can't inlcude Feuerschwanz without dArtagnan

Let me put it this way: You won't be disappointed listening to more Saltatio Mortis.
Loki.
+1
Das ist dann wohl einer der geilsten Nicknames die es gibt.
The first time I ever traveled to Europe, I managed to see them at a Mittelalterlich Phantasie Spectaculum event where they do more acoustic sets than their rock or metal sets like they play at festivals like Wacken. It was pouring rain and the electricity went out on stage, so they just unplugged their bagpipes and came out in the rain and stood on benches in the crowd to finish the set.
To this day, almost nine years later, it's still the coolest thing I've ever seen at a concert. There's nothing else like SaMo at the MPS, and it's what turned them into my favorite band. When they played the 70000 Tons of Metal cruise, they played some extra acoustic sets much like their mittelaltermarkt sets. I don't know that there's any band that can top them when it comes to really going above and beyond for their listeners and fans. Truly great guys.
That’s so awesome. 🤘
I feel SO caught out. As a German. Raiding the comments. Subscribing because of the Hypa Hypa reaction (well OK, also because of Nightwish 😁). Keep on rocking, dude!
🤘🤘🤘
@@TankTheTech Someone seems to be on Ingrid-duty 😉 I remember those times... Now they are 2 and 4, it gets better 😁 However, wouldn't wanna miss it!!
Yup, was definitely pulling the late shift last night. Haha
The reason for this cover ( and the other 6 to come) is, a lot of german bands have nothing to do since the big bad C19 hit us all, and so when Eskimo Callboy asked them for cover versions they all were super happy to cooperate. There will be a hip hop, a pop, a country, a techno version and some others I just forgot about.
Its actual insane how funny this "DÖPP DÖPP DÖPP" scene ist- Their faces. They ill me every time :D
Loved this from the start - the sound of bagpipes and the hurdy gurdy used in non traditional means is just awesome.
100% agreed. I never thought this would have worked. But it did, and very well.
@@TankTheTech I stumbled over the mix of medieval/folk and Rock/metal way back in my teens with bands like In Extremo, Subway to Sally, Schandmaul and others (it's pretty much a genre dominated by german bands, similar to pagan metal being a mostly scandinavian phenomenon) and the combination of bagpipes and electric guitars has been one of my favorite things in music ever since. Would absolutely love to see you discover more of this in the future.
@@TankTheTech the Acordion works with metal to. if you are intrested check out Finsterforst. this is a pagan folk metal band i cant get out of my head the last couple of weeks :)
You're exactly like EVERY person that watches HYPA HYPA...constantly smiling. WUNDERBAR!
It feels a bit surreal to see how big Saltatio Mortis has become.
Back when I was in my teens, SaMo was still kind of an insider's tip. They mostly did gigs all over Germany at medieval fares and festivals. My pals and I back then already were quite the fans and one buddy of mine pretty much went ballistic whenever he saw them live.
He actually gave Alea pause once and he was totally flabbergasted, going "Wait, somebody knows us?".
Great to see they hit it big since then. 🤘
aye, saw them in 2003 as support to sts' engelskrieger-tour in freiburg, where after the gig alea came out and had to use a chalkboard to talk cause he busted his cords.
20 years man...
long after that one could see them at spectaculum and in the smallest venues. happy they made it.
I remember their very first gig in the "Kulturruine" (loved it!!!) until then I only knew Gunther as the owner of this shop who I loved to chat with. OMG I'm old...😥😂
Credit were Credit belongs, ey? :)
Small tip for your calendar: May 7th then comes the next Hypa Hypa video with Sasha - a very successful German pop / rock / swing singer - but mostly cuddly pop
Now that is something I want to hear!!!!!!
@@optimusprowse6448 I'm curious about all the versions - but if I'm to be completely honest: I'm mostly hyped on the Hypa Hypa versions of "We Butter The Bread With Butter" and "Gestört Aber Geil".
Really? Sasha? Haven't heard from that guy in a while!
@@lorip.4497 Has just recently won "Masked Singer" in Germany
ua-cam.com/video/LtWLnWoVQEs/v-deo.html
Fun Fact, Sasha recently did a song with a bunch of folk metal band Guys called Dumdidadeldei, where he dubs himself Sasha der Barde (Sasha the Bard) really silly, really good and you might recognise one of the singers. Perhaps some more if you get into the german folk metal scene.
Nice to see you so excited about this. Another very well known band from the genre is Feuerschwanz, who on their last album released folk metal covers of Sabaton, Powerwolf, Rammstein... They are good friends with Saltatio and usually play the same festivals here in Germany
I’ve been hearing about them for a while, but this is the comment that just sold me on them. 🤘
@@TankTheTech let's continue the conversation we already had about them on Discord. ;-)
They even made a Ed Sheeran song sound good!
While the covers are great it would almost be a shame not to react to one of the original songs from the new record. Das Elfte Gebot comes to mind, there are also the instruments in it :D
Meister der Minne also has a great video. Explains the lyrics very well
Totally second Feuerschwanz, they are amazing!
I love hearing you explain the instruments. It makes your channel so much more interesting to watch than others. I learn so much every time you talk about the gear.
Thank you!
True, I like that Hypa-Version the most.
GUTEN TAG! I knew you would love this!!!
I was deadass expecting H.P. Baxxter to have a cameo in this video. It would've been so perfect.
Be patient 😉
Auch diese Kommentarsektion ist nun besetzt! :-D Awesome Video! They will release an EP with some german Artists doing Hypa Hypa!
Hope you'll react to them aswell!!
Keep on going like that!
"if any of the original eskimo callboy band watching this video..." ... yeah, they are watching them all, and they know you. but you know that already.
if you ever come to europe, drop me a line. man you are such a gear nerd, incredible. i learned more about humbuckers in this video than in 5 years of playing guitars.
9:19 wow, I life 30 km away from Bad Steben and I didn‘t know that there is such a famous amplifier manufacturer
More reactions to Saltatio Mortis? Better brush up on your Hurdy Gurdy Detection skills 😁 This video was awesome, and don't worry I loved your reaction too... 😉
Btw., I am a German and I was on your channel way before Eskimo Callboy! Much love bro!
I'm here 'cause of your First hypa hypa Video. I stayed for the cool Dude i found. Love your tankfacts. They are Just awesome
One small note regarding the video producers: Pascal is also the guitarist. Eskimo Callboy produce their videos mostly themselves, including special effects etc. there are interesting behind the scene ones for Hypa Hypa and both Mc Thunder I and II, where you can see the band members painting back drops, scouting locations etc.
Saltatio Mortis has also a cover of a Powerwolf song I think you would enjoy 😁
Just search for Saltatio Mortis - We drink your blood cover 😁
Oh but maybe you should watch the original first If you haven't seen it yet 😉
Yeah, should probably do that.
We drink your blood was originally written for Saltatio Mortis
Yes. Thats a good choice for a start on SalMo.
Like the Cover from Amen & Attack from Feuerschwanz better
My man just entered the realm of german folk rock/metal... and he shall never escape :D
The Making Of is out now. And is awesome ;)
dude I LOVE how the rest of S.M absolutely fucking DIES when Jorg comes out all Glammed out.
Dude you have the best head banging on youtube, your hair has it's own metal fan personality.
Hahahaha. Thank you!
Man, I do love Saltatio Mortis. They've been around for 20 years now, basically starting out as Street musicians performing at renaissance fairs and now have become one of the most successful rock bands here in Germany, their last four albums al peaking at the German charts. What's really cool about them is that they don't shy away from hot topics and, while staying true to their medieval folk roots, often sing about very political issues of our present.
This was a surprise hit for me. It's perfect. Also, the video with Kevin and Niko messing with the band was spot on. I could watch a show with those two 'Hypa Hypa-ing' up random bands.
Man, the pure joy on your face when the music started is priceless.
Welcome to the rabbit hole of German Folk Metal
How did I miss this? Once again Tank you introduced me to another great moment in music. Even if I didn't love it (I did), watching you geek out over this was highly entertaining. Thank you!
Glad you noticed. I had an absolute blast with this one. Hahaha
"if you don't like, it's not a big deal" - Bro, only clueless ppl click 'dislike' - so, no big deal at all
Your reaction was as expected and really amusing, great stuff in my opinion. Keep going on dude 🤘
YESS! Already loved seeing Saltatio Mortis and the boys from Eskimo Callboy performing this on Saltatio Mortis' concert last friday and would have never imagined to see you react to Saltatio Mortis. They are my favourite band, so im super happy to see you react to them. Maybe there will be some more reacts in the future? Although most of their songs are in german...
wow Hypa Hypa seems like so long ago now, what a journey it's been
They have the bagpipes and you have my subscription!
This version is a killer. I love bagpipes and I can totally relate when you say folk music hits home. It definitely does! 🤘
Vielen Dank, Tank👍🙂
Always a pleasure to see your honest reactions🤘

Hey Tank, really enjoy your content so far! ✌️
Hey Tank, now it’s time to react to “Wo sind die clowns” and “Früher war alles besser”....you’ll feel at home!!!
Still here since your reaction to the original Hypa Hypa.
Love your style of reaction. Very honest, very nice to see.

Saltatio Mortis are one of my most beloved Bands, probably the Band I've seen Live the most out of any other Band. When this was announced i knew it would be epic. Im so glad you checked this out Tank, thank you very much, it was a pleassure as always checking out your Reaction. So glad your channel has grown that much, and thanks to your reacztion beside some others, Saltatio Mortis finally maybe getting the International recognition they deserve as far as my opinion goes :D
Thank you very much, and if it ever would be managable, I swear i would love to invite you to one of their shows here in Germany :D I got you man! :D
And if you like: Check out Saltatio Mortis Songs "Loki", "Spielmannsschwur", "Wo sind die Clowns" and "Brot und Spiele". I would offer you translated lyrics if you like, just hit me up man :)
FINALLY! You discovered Saltatio Mortis! I just kept smiling all the time of your video because you had that much fun! You're awesome Tank!
Can't wait to see you reacting to more Saltatio!

The entertainment value is always through the roof with these guys, love it! 😅🤘🏻🖤
Love your mix of Knowledge, laughing, headbanging and all around love for music!
Im basically building a playlist from these reactions. Great job Tank!
Music is Life, love, emotion. Thanks for every tear. It is a good tear. Yes. You has the heart at the right place, man.
That was highly enjoyable. It's not quite my thing but I' can appreciate the skill, the humour, the artisanship, and I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as you did

Saltatio ended up in my recommendations on Spotify with Dorn im Ohr and Wo Sind die Clowns but that's about all I know by them. Kinda played both of them to death myself, but they're still my suggestions for reactions Tank
That guy has a great voice. The band is awesome too!
Thanks, Tank!
fun and folk metal are a larger niche in germany i would say , for folk , there are bands like the grand daddy of folkmetal inextremo ,wich i love since the early 2000 , feuerschwanz and saltatio mortis i came across just a year ago , but both have some nice party music , also for a fun metal band i would consider van canto ,though acapella heavymetal is verry niche
i preordered the upcoming EP with (i think) 6 different Hypa Hypa Versions. And i love your reaction and this version.... tbh, i love all versions meanwhile of Hypa Hypa. And the video is awesome :)
So, Tank, you finally fell down that rabbit hole :D
No matter what you pick, literally everything by Saltatio Mortis will make you one of the happiest people alive on this planet.
Looking forward to it!
@@TankTheTech "Wo sind die Clowns?" might be a good start. You might want to pull up a translation though, it's completely German, but it's SO. GOOD.
It's difficult to not be impressed by all the things you know about all sorts of instruments and manufacturers. I don't particularly care about gear myself, but I guess that makes it all the more good work on your part for making me want to pay attention to all those little tidbits :D
That video was so wicked cool! Holy crap, I dug on it!!!
hahahaha, count me in on looking forward to more reactions with Saltatio Mortis! :D
Thanks Tank, your joy was contagious as hell! Thanks man!
I'm not going to spoil you with any description, but you want to check out In Extremo, especially their older stuff!
maybe a live version of vollmond
Hey, greetings from the neighbor city of Bad Steben in which Diezel is. Yes, they are only a handful of people working there, and every amp is signed by the person that build it, BY HAND. Peter is burning in the tubes for weeks, and they only use the one that survive. Everything is soldered in by hand, tested, measured etc.
I asked him to tune my Marshall Amp, but they were so booked out, they didn't have time. I may drive there one day and ask him again.
Proudest moment from somebody I met working there: He signed the amp of James Hetfield, and we think they used it for the Death Magnetic album. There are times you have to wait for months for your Diezel Amp, that's how rare they really are. Some shops have 1 or 2 stored, but having a VH4 for over 3000 Euros just in case on promise is nothing a small shop could do.
Cant wait to see more of those guys. Any band that can make fun like this and sound as good, is absolutely worth it to check out some more.
I first met SaMo in 2007 at a medival festival and instantly fell in love with their music. A few years ago i had a funny evening at a tavern with Luzi and Jean. That means a lot of mead and jokes 🤣
Wasnt me. Cant remember. Im innocent and dont drink 😂

Deswegen habe ich den Kanal damals abonniert. Wieder eine großartige Reaction!
That's why i subscibed to this channel back then. Another great reaction!
Thank you!
Verdammt, he saw us first. Rückzug!
If you're into Saltatio Mortis and their style you should really check out In Extremo. They are one of the oldest and most successful band in the genre of Mittelalterrock/Mittelaltermetal (which is basically the german version of folk rock/metal).
For a fun take of the Genre I suggest Feuerschwanz :D
@@ayrie09 I wanted to comment and recommend these 2 bands. In Extremo as the most popular in this genre and Feuerschwanz as the most fun one.
Oldschool In Ex was absolutely fanastic!
Little fun fact, Elsi from Saltatio Mortis mostly mades the Backpipes by his own. some are bought but mostly he mades them.
This is EXACTLY what I needed after a busy week at work. I love it!
🤘🤘🤘
I came here fresh off of your first Hypa Hypa reaction. Definitely earned my sub brother.
Thank you!
This is the reaction video i was waiting for :)
Sweet! So glad you reacted to it!
I don't care what anyone says, this is the best version of Hypa Hypa.
I love your reactions. They are always so wholesome.
Oh, I SO need this today!
I had no idea this crossover was a thing. Super excited for this
8:24 fun fact: electric guitars were first used in/made for classical music so they could be heard with the orchestra/group
Saltatio Mortis also has connections to a folk musician I've mentioned a few times, Patty Gurdy. Since you're into Folk Metal, I'll recommend her old band Storm Seeker, if you haven't checked them out already.
Now theres not one but two bands i gotta check out... Thanks Tank!! PS... also that ' GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE!' at 2:33 was the most wholesome shit ive ever seen all day!
😂🤘🤘
6:43 thats an amazing shot.. the guy in the middle looks so chill there
I learned a lot of stuff from this video. Great content as always, Tank
Saltatio Mortis - Früher war alles besser or Wo sind die Clowns would be cool 😁👌
Fruher War Alles Besser was a pretty great song, and video! Saltatio Mortis is awesome, I really need to listen to more of their stuff.
Wow! Thank you for introducing this awesome folky stuff. It gives good mood and makes me wanna dance!
There will be even more different versions of the song! I am totally looking forward to the other versions and your reactions to them :D
Yeah, they announced it on their channel: Its in german but with english subtitles: ua-cam.com/video/fkAjjs-9Rg0/v-deo.html
Cant wait for youre Saltatio Mortis reactions man. Love that shit
Thank you for checking out my favorite band mate!! Glad you liked it ;)
The video was filmed at Principal Studios in Germany, the Go-to recording studio for Rock to Metal for about 20 years. Almost every mid to major German Rock and Metal Band recorded their stuff there.
Well this was an absolute blast 🤘😍🤘
And watching the sheer joy you took in reviewing it made it all the better
Oh my god this is SO GOOD!! Love it
Tank, you have so many great videos. But this is one I always come back to.
Seeing you slowly realising what is going on, and then just absolutely enjoying the heck out of it makes me feel excited every time.
And seeing someone else react to music they love the same way I do - big grin, teary eyes, basically like a kid on Christmas, makes me stupidly happy, too.
OMG!!! That was awesome, you have just switched me on to Saltatio Mortis, I need to check out more of their videos. I love folk metal so much. Thank you.
Loving your smile and the fun you're having. 100% authentic, had to smile all the time too :D

And this Hypa hypa cover is insane !
Mal wieder ein richtig gutes Video
When you already love this I think you might be even more excited to know that there are going to be 6 other covers of Hypa Hypa.
I love your videos! Especially your talk about the tech in the video!
As others pointed out the dive into German Folk Metal is endless and if you want to hear more I suggest "Schubsetanz" or "Das Elfte Gebot" by "Feuerschwanz"
