Fucking thank you. AC/DC has been releasing the same 5 chords over the same beat for 50 years now and they’re still dope. There’s nothing wrong with a band having a style and a niche.

Tank, 3 things. 1. The German subtitles are very good. You also got most of the references, but probably one of the hardest to catch for non-Europeans is the second verse by Finch. "Fred vom Jupiter" is a 1981 song, Scooter is a legendary German rave/techno band and when he throws his head back and does those weird sounds he mentions "Kohlköpfe" (cabbage-heads). This is a reference to the 1981 Louis de Funès movie "La soupe aux choux" (Cabbage Soup), where aliens land in the French countryside and get addicted to the taste of cabbage soup. Those weird sounds is how the alien speaks. 2. I feel the same way about the criticism - they can put this out for the next 20 years and I'll be hooked each and every time. 3. I am still incredibly jealous of your beard. Delighted to hear you'll be involved in EC's tour. Hope you have a blast!
OMG I just found out thank to your comment that those "blbblbl" sounds were a reference to la soupe aux choux ! I'm french and of course here this movie and those weird sounds are iconic but i never thought that this was an intentional reference. And you also just taught me that germans know la soupe au chou, i had no idea (tbh it's not the most subtle movie France can share with you but anyways 😂)
What I love about their "new" music is that they are so consistent with the quality and sound. I don't really need/want much variety on an album, but rather something that feels well stitched together. And so far EC do it just right for me. I may want to have another song that's like "Hate/Love", but I'm totally fine if their other songs just having the same vibes like Hypa Hypa, We got the moves, Pump it or Spaceman.
Let's do this... FiNCH's first verse: FiNCHi Gararin (*1), make the beat louder Yesterday still in the east German slum(*2) Today I'm a Spaceman from Eastern Germany (*3) Kiss my ass (*4), everyone can see thr white stripes in the sky (*5) (up there) Who needs proof anyway, the earth is a disc (*6) FiNCH's second verse: Fred from Jupiter (*7) in front of the supermarket (*8) Turns the old stereo (*9) on And raves to Scooter (*10) Stealing his spaceship (*11) Flying off to Mars (*12) (Blblblbl-sound is *13) (Here are the cabbages *14) FiNCH'S third verse: Where are the Jedis at? Where are the Marsians (*15) at? Where are the Klingons (*16) at? Do it like my ex, dumb you hard (*17) Gonna send Kebekus (*18) through space, away from us on a special German sausage (*19) Flying further away thanks to zero-gravity Nothing is as hard as man's ingratitude (*20) Here comes the Rocketman Viva La Elton John (*21) --- And here are my explanations why I translated it that way. Remember that I go for meaning, not Word for Word. *1 Yuri Gagarin was the first person in outer space. FiNCH is known for his East German 'eastalgia', and Gagarin was very important for people in the DDR. He's often forgotten nowadays. I'm half polish, btw. *2 Dry walls are what the so called 'Plattenbau', the slab construct living departments very common for East Germany are made off. They are common in slums nowadays. *3 Again, people from the DDR would use cosmonaut instead of astronaut, because of the Russian influence of the past. It makes sense he uses this word. *4 'Jaja' in German means 'lick my ass', which is 'kiss my ass' in English. *5 Not the American stars and stripes, he means Chemtrails obviously. A big part of the East German population has a tendency to believe in conspiracy theories. He makes a nod to them here. *6 I can't stop wondering if this also is a comment on Putin's propaganda here. Then again: not everything is political. *7 'Fred vom Jupiter' is a Popsong. I don't guarantee for your sanity or any loss of braincells while you listen to it. *8 and *9 This is such a 90s kid East German poser image: A big boom box on your shoulder, and then someone does a really bad breakdance. Welcome to my youth. *10 'Hypa, Hypa' did sample Scooter, who also were big in the 80s/90s and get sampled regularly. Definitely a nod to them. *12 I feel like this is another nod to a movie, or a song, I don't quite get. *13 Chum drum bedrum. He was an ESC participant from Russia. I detect a diss here. But a good one. And honestly, that song is hilarious and good, and it contains a rap part. *14 The English title of the movie is 'cabbage soup'. A classic about aliens who like... cabbage soup. From France. Sauerkraut is also made out of cabbage. And I think most German women in their 30s have tried the cabbage soup diet once in their live. Hint: makes you fart. That's also a part of the movie. Farting. *15 Mars Attacks is a classic. *16 Germany has a very consistent Star Trek Fanbase. I assume Picard is his captain, which means this is a nod to Worf. *17 German proverb 'schieß den/die zum Mond' means a hard break up. *18 I switched the sentence here to have it make more sense in the translation. Carolin Kebekus is a German comedienne/singer/feminist. She's... Sometimes annoying, I guess. One of her shows is called 'Pussy Terror', but you might wanna check out some of her songs, like 'Dunk dem Herrn'. She is religious, and constantly criticises the Catholic church. *19 Liverwurst is so German, it hurts. It's what you eat for dinner. For breakfast. It's a staple piece. There's a proverb about being a pouting liverwurst when you're fed up. I think he chose the word for the image, and the rhyme with Kebekus. *20 'Undank ist der Welten Lohn' as a proverb translated. I guess he doesn't like Kebekus huh? *21 Rocketman, Elton John. A Hommage to a legend. Perfect place to end my comments.
Great Job. I wouldn't have switched the Kebekus Part. I would have translated it more along the line of: Stringed Kebekus to a PITA and shot her to space. PITA as in Pain in the Ass and the Mediterranean bread.
@@theonly5001 actually love your translation. Yeah makes absolute sense. The order just somehow bugs me in English, while it's perfectly fine in German.
*6 flatearthers aren´t a Putin thing. It can also be a reference to Terry Pratchet´s Discworld as we have already the 3 boobed wh*re Eccentrica Gallumbits from "The Hitchhiker ´s guide to the galaxy" from Douglas Admas appearing in the video. *7 and even by watching the video. Andreas Dorau - Fred vom Jupiter *10 Hyper hyper yes, but more memorable is the Döppdöppdöpp part from Maria which is also very common in the dutch techno scene. *13+14 those belong together. the blblblblblbl sound was the way the alien communicated in the movie with Luis de Funès (La soupe aux choux). *18+19 Those also belong together. Kebekus once made a statement that bread with Leberwurst has to be a constitutional right. *20 think that proverb refers to the 0 gravity part. Still don´t know what he means by it. It helps with space travel but with the german habit nagging about almost everything this proverb might fit.
@@buffbaer native speaker sure love to explain other native speakers their language, huh? But a reference can be for more than one thing. I think he's intelligent enough for that. Flatearthers is very surely a reference to the Querdenker from Saxony.
You hit the nail on the head. When Nico joined, I feel like the band hit their stride and because of that (with a little help from reactors), they have blown up. Each single since Hypa Hypa has just gotten bigger and bigger and that success is due to them sticking to what works. It's fun. It's heavy. People love it. Great reaction as always. PS- Hope your monitor is alive and well 😂
Shoot, my mom loves their music simply because it IS party music. Why does this work, bc in party music you don’t give a damn what they are saying, its all about the beat and overall sound
Nico brought a new style , but also a “normal dudes “ image. Sushi was great, but he was too much theatrical and explicit for the band. That’s why IMO Nico lines up so well with the band.
Full transparency, I LOVE Sushi, consider him a friend, and talk to him regularly. But I do think that the member change was good for both parties, as EC really seems to be in a groove, and Sushi is able to do his own thing and express his art the way he wants.
@@TankTheTech I agree completely. Like most, started listening with Hypa Hypa. But I also started listening to the older stuff with Sushi and it was also great. Both MC Thunder tracks, Crystals, and even others are great songs. They just weren't getting that attention yet. Honestly, it was thanks to you and other reactors that gave them the spotlight. It just so happened when Nico came into the picture. It was like a perfect storm
Nico is the best thing that happened to EC in my opinion. They were awesome before but now they achieved legendary status. Nico fits them so well dude its almost scary
Hey Tank, it might seem like a minor thing but your edits for the german lyrics, the big "Viva la Elton John" or your bleepcounter make the video even more appealing than before. I really appreciate the effort. :) It was also more than obvious that you were absolutely hyped and enjoyed every moment of the video. Stay true to yourself and keep on doing what you're doing as long as you have fun doing it. Also have fun being back on tour!
Fun fact, this video took me longer than most other videos on my channel, just purely for the little edits and adding the lyrics. I had a blast doing it though, and I'm glad it's appreciated!
I'm so fucking happy and proud for Tank, he's achieved so much in such a little amount of time, and now he's going to be a guitar tech for Electric Callboy's US tour. Totally going to buy a shirt soon to support the channel! 🤘🖤
I wonder those who criticise EC doing “the same “ could support this statement with factual support. The last 3 singles are completely different, but they keep a thematic tone. Guess what, that’s what artists try hard to achieve when they create an ALBUM. The guys are plain simply geniuses doing their stuff, and it’s really really hard to succeed in any single release.
Actually - even if it would be true....who cares. We're all having fun and that's what matters, not the opinion of a few people who desperately look for something they can criticise. That said - I have watched quite a few reactions to Spaceman now and I think out of all of these two people where more critical; one for what Tank mentioned and the other one didn't vibe with the rap which is fine, not everyone has to like everything. The majority of reactors, musicians and no-musicians alike, just had a blast with the song.
i think it's fair to say, that most if not all bands (especially less known), have a wet dreams about finding some working, unique formula for their music, that fills any niche in the industry, and this band just found that, so i hope they stick to it, because that's the very reason they stand out from other bands and makes them unique i think people's problem, is just the fact there's no shock anymore, after hypa hypa everybody basically knows it's a mixture of pop and metalcore, but imho still every new song sounds quite fresh (and to be honest, their sound is even more polished and well put together with every new single, like this pop and metal music just blends more and more well with each other)
In a musical sense they are repeating themselves in a many ways. Use of flat 2nd in the heavy parts, song structure (EC breakdowns hit you about 2:00 into every single I've seen in the last 2 years), the main hook melodies sticking mostly between the root and fifth of the same register, hard stops in the breakdowns, etc..... But that's their thing. I've learned to expect it and frankly I'd be disappointed if I didn't hear it in one of their songs right now. It's like a good horror movie. You can see it coming, you KNOW it's coming, and it scares you anyways. It's a sign that they're doing something right here. EDIT: Plus they are not touting themselves as the next great Prog Rock geniuses. They're about fun and they get 5 stars in that category from this listener.
Critics: "Ever since Hypa Hypa they're just doing more of the same" Hate/Love: "Am I a joke to you..???" Plus as you said... so? let them do what they want, exactly as with the name. It is their band, their music, their decision and I dig it more than their older stuff tbh. I lost them somewhere around "Bury me in vegas" and now they got me back!
When I discovered them (around 1.5 years ago) I was like "I can tolerate the heavy and the screaming, because it's funny & catchy & kind of dancy". Now I'm like "It's fine if Rave is your religion, but shout it at me HARDER". Back in the '90s, when the voluptuous blonde plus black rapper dance projects were sprouting faster than one could say "Urban Cookie Collective," criticisms that it was self-repetitive and resonant came almost immediately. Nevertheless, Eurodance has filled the dance floors for almost a decade. So the only response to accusations of EC being repetitive can be: RAVE ON! p.s.: Who else wants to see Tank's hair styled the Jimmy Neutron way?
I love how you can see the sparkle in Tanks eyes, as he's speaking about going on tour with them and seeing how excited he gets in the beginning. I love your reactions, keep up the awesome work ✨
I've been listening to industrial EDM since 1988. I haven't been this excited about a band since Celldweller or Blue Stahli. These guys fucking rock. Their music is so unique and it's fun. Great band. I just found these guys 3 months ago and I am hooked.
Bwahahah the Elton John censor! I think that hilarious mustache ship may be a nod to you and RichoPOV. :-D As usual, a great reaction! Can't wait to see these guys live! See you in Brooklyn!
You know, the Finch feature is probably the best thing that could happen to EC inside of germany, their fun style will be spread even wider thanks to finch and his fans. In general they are just really similar so thats a perfect fit imo
Yeah, for some reason I've seen a lot of people say they liked everything but the Finch parts. Me personally, I loved it, especially with how creative the lyrics were.
@@TankTheTech Im one of the boring people who thinks the song would be a total 10 without FiNCH. The same lyrics, but in english, belted out by Nico would be epic. But I suppose the german rap will grow on me
It's a feature i didn't know i wanted it until it happened and it's a perfect match. Both have a great sens of humor and mix different genres. And now we have a Song mixes metalcore, hardstyle and rap in 2 languages. Great.
As always, everything from Electric Callboy is an amazing combination of Hard rocking, Catchy AF, and just plain fun. They are exactly what the Metal scene needed. VIVA LA ELTON JOHN BABY!!
There are two additional references. "Fred vom Jupiter" is a song from Andreas Dorau (Genre: Neue Deutsche Welle) and "blblblblblb / cabbages" is from the movie "La Soupe aux Choux" with Louis de Funès. But once more: Thanks for this reaction!
“If I connect with it and it makes me happy” is how I’ve approached music for a long time! Even if I’m the only person I know who listens to whatever it is, I don’t care. It makes me happy
I'm 51 and enjoy the hell out of these guys!! Hope to see you at the Seattle show. Not sure if your familiar with the venue. Ummm, wish I could see the look on your faces 🤣.
Can't wait to see electric callboy in Portland Oregon this October. Love them so much. Hopefully I'll get to meet you as well. You have some of the best reaction videos around
I fell into the hypa hypa hype when the song came out 2 years ago. I had never heard of that band before and I’m sure i played a huge part in the millions of views they have (my friends now hate me for sharing all their videos 😅). Finally going to see them live this Saturday 🤘🏻
I like the effort to put that much little easter eggs into their videos with double meanings, like the "licking the bush" in "we got the moves" only few people get it right. Just fun times to watch their videos, and love your reactions to it. keep rockin'
It took me a few listening to enjoy it fully, for this one. Don't know why exactly, the chorus is super catchy, and the rythm of the song is great. But what I do know is that I can't wait to see them live on Saturday in Paris !!! =D Thank you for this reaction, Tank. Have a nice day !
@@She-Devil94 I gotta say, I'm still not quite there yet, as the Finch parts seem a bit disjointed and out of place to me but I'm sure I'll like it more upon listening to it several more times.
That's interesting. I've been talking to my brother today and we both had the same with this song. It starts to stick quickly, but we also both can't really explain why it took a bit longer this time.
I love the swear counter in the left corner 🤣 it's ridiculously amusing hearing and counting on how often Elton John bleeps out swears. VIVA LA ELTON JOHN
I completely agree w/ u, Tank. Ever since Nico joined the band, EC has found their groove & figured out a formula that’ll bring them major success. Every song they’ve released since Hypa Hypa has been a banger.
Saw them live last night in London and the new style party core mixed with their older stuff works really well for a balanced set. Absolutely loved it and it was just a fun gig
You're going to have such a blast with them, really excited for you!! They seem fun people to be around. I loved the German show they were on where Kevin, Nico and a lady were upping the game trying hot sauces 🤣 I didn't understand what was going on but it was still really funny seeing them laughing 😄
Was waiting for this reaction since they dropped the Music video. As always love the intensity the fun your views and just the great content man. Always have me laughing and having a great time!
Great reaction Tank as usual, also your comment about "are they saying Elton John" made me laugh. It took me a few times listening to the song to actually pick that up because when I first heard the song I could have sworn they were singing "Viva La Engine" which, honestly, both work fine.
As long as listeners continue to enjoy the bands music, that is all that matters. These guys do have a common sound, and every time I hear, I f’ing enjoy it!!
Agreed on finding your sound and not needing to detour every cd or song. In fact it reminds of one of my favorite quotes by a rock icon, (Angus Young, AC/DC). : “I'm sick to death of people saying we've made 11 albums that sound exactly the same, In fact, we've made 12 albums that sound exactly the same.”" Although, since he said that AC/DC have made even more albums that sound the exact same.. And their fans rejoice!
I did not realize you did the subtitles in the video till you ran through the breakdown a second time and they were missing. This is by far the best video editing you've done thus far. Mad respect, Tank! Love your reactions, please keep being the fun & amazing guy you are!
On my first hearing of this song i start jumping around in my flat and had a veeeeeeeeeeery good time doing it. and i was happy. and im no metalhead :D but as you said: the combination works excellent for me
VIVA LA ELTON JOHN! 😂😂 Everything said absolutely bang on. Ever since I was introduced to this amazing band, I have been absolutely hooked. Same sound? Sure. Abit- BUT they all have their own little twists and You definitely don't "pidgeon" to pump it, pump it you wanna run in place and do jumping jacks 🤣 I love the fun in it. Nico makes you wanna sing at the top of your lungs and dance, and Kevin makes ya wanna stop and start headbanging with that look of pure filth. I seriously hope these guys get a chance to tour in Canada and hit all major cities. Not just TO or Vancouver. 😭 Hopefully one day, and you'll have a passport and join em! 😁 That said, congrats on your success with this Tank! And I hope you guys have an absolute blast touring U.S!
I don´t think they are doing the same since Nico joined the band, in fact each of their released songs has a different theme and structure as well as a suprising moment that made me like "uh, that´s odd, do i really like this?" Hypa Hypa was the song where i learned that this band should not be taken too seriously, first i thought it was stupid, then i liked it.... Hate/love came out... solid, serious themed song about falling in love with a toxic maneater and yeah, the chorus was familiar and i found the similarities to that offspring song too.... We got the moves had that hardstyle breakdown that ended in a breakdown, blasting lots of reactors cause man, they did it again... something completely unexpected! And now no one of the both permanent vocalists has neither a verse nore the C-part of this song, it was given to FiNCH completely except the pre-corus where Kevin comes in... They are keeping it fresh and as you said, it´s their style, that´s what made them so popular worldwide... would anybody recommend AC/DC to change their style with what they are freaking successful for ages? I guess not! Have fun with these guys on their US tour man, i think it´ll be a blast! Loved the swear counter btw... ;P
Holy crapola! Tank and Electric Callboy! Let’s GO!!! I was already excited to make it to the last date in Brooklyn, now I absolutely can’t miss this! See you in NYC Tank!
I have a strange parallel: I love Eskimo Callboy the same reason i love Bong-Ra. Mixing metal with other genres in the most destructive, awesome way. And holy shit Nico's voice is insanely good. I want these guys to tour with Nanowar of Steel. That would be a killing one.
Awesome reaction as always, and congrats on the EC tour. Hope you manage to fit in some gym time before hand so you're ready to handle 'that' guitar from Pump It 🤘
that blblblblbl from finsch in the 2. appearance must be a reference for the 1981 French Louis de Funes Film "La soupe aux choux". In German "Louis und seine ausserirdischen Kohlkoepfe". Great Commedy!
That's awesome you're hitting the road with them. Congratulations! That sounds like you're going to have a blast!!! I already have tickets for the Grand Rapids, MI show (November, I think), so hopefully we can meet up if you're not too busy. So looking forward to this show. These guys put out banger after banger. Shit, I haven't even watched the reaction yet, lol. As soon as I saw you were going out w them, I wanted to say congrats! Let's gooooooooo!!! EDIT: Great reaction. These guys can do no wrong. I'm with you on the new vibe since Nico joined. Every single release has been a banger. I still like Hate/Love and some of the other great songs on the EP. And I totally hope you're spot on with that new CD this summer. Everything you said makes total sense. Would be so cool.
Old School Nerd just gave you a testimonial on his reaction to Electric Callboy's "We Got The Moves". I lived in Berlin for a week in 1983, before moving to Osterholtz-Scharmbeck where I lived until 1986.
Hey Tank, it's almost 800 comments already, so you'll probably never see this one. Still, I wanted to leave a big THANK YOU here for your content. The attention to detail and research work you put in here sets you apart so hard from the others who reel off their 6 minute reactions and are done for the day. You always collect interesting side-facts that one has not even noticed even as a fan. In addition, you round off the whole thing with your wonderful self-awareness and the ability to laugh at yourself. Please keep it up and stay as you are. Really nice shtuff.
The "blblblvlblblblblblvl here are the cabbages" is a reference to the 1981 movie "Louis und die außerirdischen Kohlköpfe" (Louis and the alien cabbages) Louis de Funes was a french actor who was very popular in germany... At least for our parents and grand parents. Made lots of comedy movies and this one was probably his most successful one.
One reference that most people miss is at 5:34. In the movie "The Cabbage Soup" with Louis de Funès from 1981 that blblbl is a form of communication for the alien. Also as for other weird and funny sci-fi music videos that I had to think of while watching Spaceman: - Full Steam Spacemachine by swedish rock band Royal Republic with an incredible catchy chorus and riff - St. Pauli by Jan Delay
I was just going to mention that - but you already did. If one wants another video with many Sci-Fi references I would recommend "Knights of Cydonia" from "Muse".
This might be my favorite song since Nico joined the band. It's fun but not too goofy. The only thing I'm not a big fan of is that they always use the same formula since Hypa Hypa (soft beginning > sudden heavy music > sudden electronic part > chorus > repeat).
The cabbage head lyric is a reference to the 1981 French comedy movie "La soupe aux choux" (English: The Cabbage Soup / German: Louis und seine außerirdischen Kohlköpfe) with Louis de Funès.
What a greeeeeeeaaaaaaat reaction to a greeeeeeeaaaaaaaaat song! Thank you, Tank!!! To be honest, first time I heared "Spaceman" I didn't like it because of Finch. Rap is absolutely not my taste. Meanwhile, after I heared it several times, it changed something in me... and... I like it! No... in fact, I don't like it... I LOVE IT!!! VIVA LA ELTON JOHN!!!
Finch is a lovely guy born in eastern Germany. So.. I think he's like me around 32 yrs.. and was born around the Germany unity or close past it. This took huge influence to his lyrics, style and even his name. He started with rap music as Finch Asozial as a battlerap artist and was seen in some Berlin clubs/shows (like Rap am Mittwoch/Rap on Wednesday). Now the twist and why I thin this combo is awesome.. :) He changed his music few years ago. Songs like "Abfahrt" got similar Party Gabber/Hardstyle beats like Eski.. sorry.. Electric callboy (EC fan for the past 10 yrs, my heart is still bleeding a bit with that namechange). So I think it was not a big deal to bring rap and hardcore/metalcore together since the partystyle was already born on both sides. I am pretty sure that EC will release a "scooter song" soon. Finch already did after he requested the djset scooter with HP Baxter as a "shouter?/singer?" (idk). Funfact.. Finch wrote a song that is only focusing on "I want a song with scooter, but they did not answer me yet". They answered him after releasing this song. ^^ Scooter (Finch is already singing about them in Spaceman) is the final missing part to write the ultamtive partysong... I think the combo Nico Kevin and HP will kill some ppl in every moshpit in fact of partying to hard.... :D would be happy to see this combo in the future. Finally..even if I love the "old" EC style.. They always tried to go for this party music. Not the way they did actually because they load even more hardstyle beats to their music. But as a fan of hardstyle, Hardcore, German rap music and EC.. I am fine with that. :D

Kiss my ass (*4), everyone can see thr white stripes in the sky (*5) (up there)
Who needs proof anyway, the earth is a disc (*6)
FiNCH's second verse:
Fred from Jupiter (*7) in front of the supermarket (*8)
Turns the old stereo (*9) on
And raves to Scooter (*10)
Stealing his spaceship (*11)
Flying off to Mars (*12)
(Blblblbl-sound is *13)
(Here are the cabbages *14)
FiNCH'S third verse:
Where are the Jedis at?
Where are the Marsians (*15) at?
Where are the Klingons (*16) at?
Do it like my ex, dumb you hard (*17)
Gonna send Kebekus (*18) through space, away from us on a special German sausage (*19)
Flying further away thanks to zero-gravity
Nothing is as hard as man's ingratitude (*20)
Here comes the Rocketman
Viva La Elton John (*21)
---
And here are my explanations why I translated it that way. Remember that I go for meaning, not Word for Word.
*1
Yuri Gagarin was the first person in outer space. FiNCH is known for his East German 'eastalgia', and Gagarin was very important for people in the DDR. He's often forgotten nowadays. I'm half polish, btw.
*2
Dry walls are what the so called 'Plattenbau', the slab construct living departments very common for East Germany are made off. They are common in slums nowadays.
*3
Again, people from the DDR would use cosmonaut instead of astronaut, because of the Russian influence of the past. It makes sense he uses this word.
*4
'Jaja' in German means 'lick my ass', which is 'kiss my ass' in English.
*5
Not the American stars and stripes, he means Chemtrails obviously. A big part of the East German population has a tendency to believe in conspiracy theories. He makes a nod to them here.
*6
I can't stop wondering if this also is a comment on Putin's propaganda here. Then again: not everything is political.
*7
'Fred vom Jupiter' is a Popsong. I don't guarantee for your sanity or any loss of braincells while you listen to it.
*8 and *9
This is such a 90s kid East German poser image:
A big boom box on your shoulder, and then someone does a really bad breakdance. Welcome to my youth.
*10
'Hypa, Hypa' did sample Scooter, who also were big in the 80s/90s and get sampled regularly. Definitely a nod to them.
*12
I feel like this is another nod to a movie, or a song, I don't quite get.
*13
Chum drum bedrum. He was an ESC participant from Russia. I detect a diss here. But a good one. And honestly, that song is hilarious and good, and it contains a rap part.
*14
The English title of the movie is 'cabbage soup'. A classic about aliens who like... cabbage soup. From France.
Sauerkraut is also made out of cabbage. And I think most German women in their 30s have tried the cabbage soup diet once in their live. Hint: makes you fart. That's also a part of the movie. Farting.
*15
Mars Attacks is a classic.
*16
Germany has a very consistent Star Trek Fanbase. I assume Picard is his captain, which means this is a nod to Worf.
*17
German proverb 'schieß den/die zum Mond' means a hard break up.
*18
I switched the sentence here to have it make more sense in the translation.
*19
Liverwurst is so German, it hurts. It's what you eat for dinner. For breakfast. It's a staple piece.
There's a proverb about being a pouting liverwurst when you're fed up.
I think he chose the word for the image, and the rhyme with Kebekus.
*20
'Undank ist der Welten Lohn' as a proverb translated. I guess he doesn't like Kebekus huh?
*21
Rocketman, Elton John. A Hommage to a legend. Perfect place to end my comments.
Great Job.
I wouldn't have switched the Kebekus Part.
I would have translated it more along the line of:
Stringed Kebekus to a PITA and shot her to space.
PITA as in Pain in the Ass and the Mediterranean bread.
@@theonly5001 actually love your translation. Yeah makes absolute sense.
The order just somehow bugs me in English, while it's perfectly fine in German.
*13 is also the language from the spaceman in the movie you mentioned at *14.
Andreas Dorau - Fred vom Jupiter
*10 Hyper hyper yes, but more memorable is the Döppdöppdöpp part from Maria which is also very common in the dutch techno scene.
It was like a perfect storm
yes, yes, & yes 🙌 lol 🤘
Nico is the best thing that happened to EC in my opinion. They were awesome before but now they achieved legendary status. Nico fits them so well dude its almost scary
Hey Tank, it might seem like a minor thing but your edits for the german lyrics, the big "Viva la Elton John" or your bleepcounter make the video even more appealing than before. I really appreciate the effort. :)
It was also more than obvious that you were absolutely hyped and enjoyed every moment of the video.
I agree! he did such a great job!
Agree wholeheartedly with this comment
I'm so fucking happy and proud for Tank, he's achieved so much in such a little amount of time, and now he's going to be a guitar tech for Electric Callboy's US tour. Totally going to buy a shirt soon to support the channel! 🤘🖤
Thank you so much for the kind words, and I appreciate your support a ton!
@@TankTheTech 🖤🤘
Congrats on breaking your Beep-count record Tank 😁 Oh, and btw, great reaction 😎 Looking forward to the album 🤘🏼
It was the same with Linkin Park. And they where so fucked up by this fans 😅
i think it's fair to say, that most if not all bands (especially less known), have a wet dreams about finding some working, unique formula for their music, that fills any niche in the industry, and this band just found that, so i hope they stick to it, because that's the very reason they stand out from other bands and makes them unique
i think people's problem, is just the fact there's no shock anymore, after hypa hypa everybody basically knows it's a mixture of pop and metalcore, but imho still every new song sounds quite fresh (and to be honest, their sound is even more polished and well put together with every new single, like this pop and metal music just blends more and more well with each other)
In a musical sense they are repeating themselves in a many ways.
@@RushAss spot on !
I have to say (I know, a year after the reaction), it's hilarious that you have Elton John's face pop up when you're swearing 😂😂😂
Critics: "Ever since Hypa Hypa they're just doing more of the same"
Hate/Love: "Am I a joke to you..???"
Plus as you said... so? let them do what they want, exactly as with the name.
I don't think I could get my hair to do that. If I tried I'd look more like Wayne Static. Hahaha

I would REALLY love a vlog of their tour, seeing him and EC behind the scenes.
I've been listening to industrial EDM since 1988. I haven't been this excited about a band since Celldweller or Blue Stahli. These guys fucking rock. Their music is so unique and it's fun. Great band. I just found these guys 3 months ago and I am hooked.
The moustached spaceship gets me every time, so fucking dumb haha
The hook is so good tank! My 5 year old little girl was singing it for days after I played it around the house a few times 😂
Bwahahah the Elton John censor! I think that hilarious mustache ship may be a nod to you and RichoPOV. :-D As usual, a great reaction! Can't wait to see these guys live!

You know, the Finch feature is probably the best thing that could happen to EC inside of germany, their fun style will be spread even wider thanks to finch and his fans. In general they are just really similar so thats a perfect fit imo
I heard from some of the fans that they really don't like the Finch feature. For me personally it fits perfectly.
Great.
Not the best thing but a good choice
As always, everything from Electric Callboy is an amazing combination of Hard rocking, Catchy AF, and just plain fun. They are exactly what the Metal scene needed. VIVA LA ELTON JOHN BABY!!
There are two additional references. "Fred vom Jupiter" is a song from Andreas Dorau (Genre: Neue Deutsche Welle) and "blblblblblb / cabbages" is from the movie "La Soupe aux Choux" with Louis de Funès. But once more: Thanks for this reaction!
At 5:35 it is a great Homage on the Comedian Louis de Funès and his Film La soupe aux choux - Die Kohlsuppe .No Yes ohhh whats famous in Europe

Thank you for this reaction, Tank. Have a nice day !
See you there then :D I hope they'll play that song this is fire!
It was the same for me. This song is amazing and super catchy but somehow it took me listening to it more than once to fully enjoy it 😁
@@She-Devil94 I gotta say, I'm still not quite there yet, as the Finch parts seem a bit disjointed and out of place to me but I'm sure I'll like it more upon listening to it several more times.

Man. It is so heart warming to see you get all misty eyed from pure joy from this (and others) song! Makes me feel happy too!

“I'm sick to death of people saying we've made 11 albums that sound exactly the same, In fact, we've made 12 albums that sound exactly the same.”"
Although, since he said that AC/DC have made even more albums that sound the exact same.. And their fans rejoice!

Elton John F-bomb counter was the best 🤣🤣🤣
POWERMAN 5000 and electric callboy in one video? Hell yeah
I don´t think they are doing the same since Nico joined the band, in fact each of their released songs has a different theme and structure as well as a suprising moment that made me like "uh, that´s odd, do i really like this?"
Hypa Hypa was the song where i learned that this band should not be taken too seriously, first i thought it was stupid, then i liked it....

Hey Tank, it's almost 800 comments already, so you'll probably never see this one.
Still, I wanted to leave a big THANK YOU here for your content. The attention to detail and research work you put in here sets you apart so hard from the others who reel off their 6 minute reactions and are done for the day.

Also as for other weird and funny sci-fi music videos that I had to think of while watching Spaceman:
- Full Steam Spacemachine by swedish rock band Royal Republic with an incredible catchy chorus and riff
- St. Pauli by Jan Delay
I was just going to mention that - but you already did. If one wants another video with many Sci-Fi references I would recommend "Knights of Cydonia" from "Muse".
Such fun, and it will take a few watches to catch all the references. And congratulations on the gig! See you in Seattle!

This might be my favorite song since Nico joined the band. It's fun but not too goofy.
The only thing I'm not a big fan of is that they always use the same formula since Hypa Hypa (soft beginning > sudden heavy music > sudden electronic part > chorus > repeat).

Scooter (Finch is already singing about them in Spaceman) is the final missing part to write the ultamtive partysong...

@@music2seeconcertphotograph457 Louis des Funes and his films was also very popular in East Germany and his films were some of the rare "Western" films that were allowed to be shown. As Finch is from East Germany I guess that is were this reference is also pointing at.
@@music2seeconcertphotograph457 who are you calling old? ;)
But that's at the end a easy one to explain, but even me as a German I don't understand the Kebekus/Leberwurst reverence! Mayday, help, SOS, pleeeeease!
#VivaLaEltonJohn ! Another great tune from EC. It's a shame they won't be coming near Florida during the tour. Ponte Vedra Concert Hall near Jacksonville would be a great venue for them! 900 standing room theater.
I swear Tank and I do not coordinate these lol it’s almost creepy….. in a good way?!?
Your beards are telephatically linked and synching your releases.
This song has been on repeat for multiple hours at a time since it dropped. Loving everything Electric Callboy have been doing recently and am as always LOVING the insights you give. Plus the translations. Keep it up you absolute legend!
Hey Tank! Congratulations on getting to tour with Electric Callboy! I’ll be at the show in Louisville in November. Super excited!
Ayyyyeeee, congrats on the tour teching! I agree they have found what works with them and are absolutely nailing it.
Hell yea. I'm definitely going to try to hit the Austin show this Oct.
So happy for you!!! A great reaction video and I'll see you at the Brooklyn date! 🤘🏼
Does anyone notice that the green woman in the video is a cross over between Star Trek and Star Wars.... Nice touch... Great song, great video and great reaction...
That would be awesome to see you!! Already got tickets for the Brooklyn show!
Nice! Last show of tour! Should be wild!
This video is what made me pull the trigger on the Dallas tickets. Can't wait!
You know a song is good when you have it going round your head ever since you first heard it. I couldn’t care less what the critics think - this band brings me pure joy
@TankTheTech THank you very MUCH for doing the translation for FiNCH! Your video should been done by EC when they came out. Awesome job, man! I wonder if the big hair was reference to anime Space Daddy!
