This video is brilliant 👍 I brought a new resistor this morning and managed to fit it. A little bit tight and fiddly but itsin and lights and radio are not messing about, and the blower is back working. Fingers crossed no battery drain.massive thanks 👌🍺
hey thanks for such kind remarks, I started posting video to help people years ago before the influx of youtube and I found that people started to ask for more and liked them, hence why I started to create the channel !
Same issue I’m having with my BMW X5 (2006). I’m bout to go try it now. It is having the EXACT same issues. And they literally use the same part in that car as I found out accidentally stumbling onto your page. Here goes nothing 💯💯💯
Hey, great to hear, hope your car is all fixed, have a look at the RED led near gear shift it should go out after 16mins of locking car. Thanks if you subscribed!
Hi again, Thanks again for this video. We did it yesterday and it took about 40 minutes all in to complete the swap. According to a website I found yesterday the old unit out of my 2003 HSE is the same manufacturer (Sistronic) and the same part number as yours but this is original equipment, so I am curious,. However the replacement we used again is the same as the one you have used and everything is back up and running! It was getting more and more difficult to use the vehicle in the cold very wet weather we have had over the last couple of weeks so a working fan has been a necessity not a nice to have. I am now going to trawl through your other videos. Cheers
The "Aftermarket (old one) is marked BMW and was made by Valeo. This to my mind means it certainly OEM. Valeo make loads of parts for various European manufacturers and certainly for BMW. Of course they still go wrong lol A very useful video. Thanks for cutting it up.
Thank you for making and posting this video. The fan has stopped working on my 2003 3.0 Td6 Range Rover HSE and other forums show this component as the likely cause. So I have got a replacement and having watched your video I can try changing it at the weekend. I will let you know what happens. Cheers.
Just changed this on my dads MY06 tdv8 l322, same sitronic part so I'm presuming both yours and mine are original parts Will post if it cures the battery drain issue
Thank you for pinpointing this cheap and cheerful, difficult to access valve. Q: should one drain the coolant before undertaking this delightful task? Subbed btw.
Thank you for the tip and how to fix it, I've a battery drain somewhere can here like a fan sound on mine from climate. Does drain over night but suspect battery is weak as well. New battery to fit tomorrow and just ordered a resistor! Cheers
This is an excellent "fix," I have the same battery drain problem, but have solved it to a certain extent by leaving the battery on constant top up charge, does this only occur if the vehicle is left unlocked ? i never lock mine overnight as I live in France, and wondered if that unlocked condition was causing the problem, very many thanks for posting this video! Chris B.
I have the same symptoms. New part is due to arrive tomorrow however I have removed the old one ready.. but my symptoms remain and the part is not even plugged in?
Okay, so it's hard to see but there is a supporting clip below the resistor unit that has to be pressed downwards and then it easily comes out. The cable housing on the other hand is an absolute bitch to detach from the resistor. Why oh why did they have to put it on the driver's side?! Such a fiddly job with the pedals and the heater duct in the way. I'm at the end of my tether with this bloody car!
@@earthling-ad well done for getting it out, would make left hand drive a doddle. Time the red led at the gear shift to see if it now goes out after 16 mins!
@@GrooveOn unfortunately I think the new unit is also faulty as the blower has now gone from coming on intermittently to constantly on even when the engine is off. Time to take it to the pros I think
For a US model would this be on our passenger side then? Wasnt sure from the video and would hate to take out the drivers side only to find i need to take down my passenger side (your drivers side)
Hi there, I would be very surprised if Range Rover changed the resistor over to the other side between countries, it just would not be cost effective! If I was a gambling man I would say 95% sure it's the same for left hand drive, should be easier as you don't have peddles too! Good luck let me know
Hi pal I'm back again lol. I was watching this HVAC resistor vid, I wanted to ask. You said that the hedgehog resistor just pushes in, I uncoupled the connection but I see there is a torx screw holding it in and possibly two more in the most inaccessible place. Is there an easier way to remove the resistor.
Hi there , it has been a while but now I think of it there were two screws yes. I like to use a small socket set the type that can get into small places. I use this bacho set which I've ad for years. amzn.to/47dpfpi
Do u know if the truck will Run correct if the resistor is not connected I finally got new alternator and we are doing it now but battery drained again and it was not the dash panel like Other guy said so I think it this resistor cause light stays on center console and radio stayed on for like 15 min when I closed doors and locked I waited 20 min and center light on transmission selector turned off after 20 min
@@willieurus Basically the resistor controls the voltage and current to the HVAC system, if it stops working, the car does not go into standby after 16mins and drains the battery.
I have a problem with my 2012 one blower won't come on it all lights up and makes its sounds so I changed that part but still dose the same its maybe a motor what has gone that its looking like.
The heater blower I think in your car has the twin hamster cage style wheels, I am not sure if they rotate independently, but if you can get to it, then you'll probably find its the brushes worn to the commutator and you could replace possibly. If you buy another one, I would recommend original, or at least a used genuine original. Good Luck let me know how you get on.

Hi there, the resistor doesn't click its just a solid state item. I don't recall my car having any clicking, its possibly your display module. What to do is lock the car and wait 14mins to see if the red led extinguishes at the gear shift. If it stays on its likely your resistor is gone
Not likely, I have asked in different places and the resistor is part of the cars heater wiring matrix, if the resistor is not in place, then the car will not have a method to regulate the heater etc, For all they cost I would replace the resistor and see if the red LED light at the gear shift goes off after you lock the car and wait 16 + mins.
This video is brilliant 👍
