  • The bible does not teach once saved always saved. There is a mountain of scripture passages that deny this doctrine. This video gives only some of those passages

I would agree with this response If and only IF it was considered to be truth and taught as such. It is not true, nor is it anywhere near truth.
When you are born again by the Holy Spirit and God places your spirit in the heavenly realm with Jesus ( this is not heaven ) Eph 2:6 your spirit is not capable of sin. Your flesh is extremely capable of sin and Romans 7:17,20 points out that sin is something not just a noun. Your flesh does not inherit the kingdom of God ever.
All the exhortations of maintaining a righteous life are all through the new testament but there are no verses to indicate God removing you from the heavenly realm for any sin, the Holy Spirit removing His seal upon the believer for any sin , or He who began a good work in you will continue till you sin and then quit. Nor is there any indication that a born again believer can be unborn for any sin .
To say that salvation is dependent on desired performance of the believer is to promote a works based salvation and Eph 2:9 tells you it is NOT a works based salvation . Verse 10 tells you that the believer was created to do the works of God . We do the works of God because we have eternal salvation not for paying off the gift. Once saved , always saved has nothing to do with your flesh.

Growing up Baptist, we believed in once saved, always saved. So what about the person that is saved at an early age, then falls away from the faith and by the time of their death, there's no evidence to support they were Christian. Well, the Evangelicals have an out for that. They would proclaim that the individual was never saved to begin with; either they didn't really accept Christ or "it didn't take." They always have an out for that scenario. That's what appealed to me about Catholicism, no out is needed, they simply lost their salvation due to unconfessed, unrepentant sin separating them from God. When asked if I am "born again", I tell Evangelicals "every day of my life, I'm born again."

The argument that someone never had faith to begin with is begging the question. The Parable of the Sower debunks this argument.

When asked by Baptists what I believe on this matter I say that you can't "lose" your salvation but you absolutely CAN forfeit your salvation by committing serious sins and failing to go to confession

    • @TheBinaryWolf

Well said that salvation can be forfeited, but nowhere does Jesus stipulate salvation is contingent upon confession to another. He does exhort us to "confess your sins one to another," which can be to any other believer and not exclusive to a minister. The account of the criminal confessing to Jesus is for the purpose of letting us know confession to God is sufficient.

@@nathanmiller6736 Read it in the original Greek, and stop the BS. God is watching.
Mt.16:19, "kao ő ean lusēs epi tēs gēs, estai lelumenon en tois ouranois," and whatever you loose on earth will be HAVING BEEN loosed in heaven. The syntax is odd in English but in Greek, it is clear that when someone confesses a sin to you in remorse, you can tell the person his sin is already forgiven. You are not forgiving sin but merely informing what God has already done.
Get an interlinear Bible, and see just how much the original has been filtered by biased translators.
I am throwing a life line to you as your soul is in danger of ending up in Mt. 7:21-23. Yet you argue that the sharks around you are friends.
Be careful my brother. With your soul at stake, surely you will research what I have shared. You now will have no excuse whan standing before God.

My latest conversation with a Baptist ( please don’t ask why I would even bother conversing with Catholic haters but here it is:
      Me : Are Baptists saved?
      Baptist : Yes
Me: Are you always saved? Once saved always saved?
      Baptist : Yes
      Me: Are Catholics saved?
      Baptist: No
Me: If a Baptist converts to Catholicism is he saved
      Baptist: No
Me: I thought you said Once saved always saved?
Baptist: (proceeds to change the subject or walk away)
If Baptist answers Yes then contradicting himself since he said Catholics aren’t save
Ridiculous don’t waste time with them the early Christian martyrs would consider these Protestant folk Heretics

In the parable of the prodigal son once the boy left the safety of his father's house he was on his own. Thus he left his salvation. Seems to our protestant friends one can wallow with the pigs and still go to heaven.

This is what happens when someone tells you that once saved always saved gives you license to sin. and you do not go to the scriptures for or against that concept. Not one verse in scripture supports that idiocy. . Romans 6:1,2 is pretty clear on what we are to do. The prodigal son leaves his fathers house finds out all about life and what is lacking in his own and comes back to the father a broken man. At no time did the father disown him, at no time did the son get unborn from his father . 1 John 1:9 What does God do when we confess our sins? As to having a license to sin look at the guy in Corinth where he is sleeping with his fathers wife and notice what Paul does? Paul hands him over to satan for the destruction of his flesh !! so that his spirit may be saved. Notice Once saved always saved has nothing to do with your flesh.

Heb.6:4-6 sums it up. As for salvation through faith alone, Jesus assured the criminal on the cross next to Him of salvation immediate, solely on faith (no purgatory either). The criminal was never baptized or did good works. This harmonizes with the clearest verse on the subject, Eph.2:8. Of course, genuine faith always leads the believer to put faith into practice.
The Greek term arrabōna means a deposit of the Holy Spirit, like a layaway plan. So one can be saved but nobody is redeemed until the (first) resurrection of saints takes place after Daniel's 70th week. So praying to the dead is futile...heresy.

@@MUSIC-MARY Either you are uneducated or spiritually blind: praying FOR someone is different to praying TO someone. Praying FOR someone harmonizes with John.14:6; praying to someone other than to God is spiritual adultery, according to Christ in the Bible.
You see how subtle Satan is: he has you defending heresy.

    • @TheBinaryWolf

@@MUSIC-MARY Praying FOR someone is quite different than praying TO someone. Jesus refers to praying to anyone but God spiritual adultery. What is so difficult about following Christ's teaching? "NO MAN COMES UNTO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME" (Jn.14:6).
That you quote Maccabees tells me you do not know God. If an imposter wrote you a letter, pretending to be your biological father, you could easily discern that it was not from him (i.e. if you knew your biological father well). If you personally knew God, you would know that the 13 books of the apocrypha are not canonical. In the 66 Books of Holy Writ,, man is never extolled, on rare occasion commended, but never extolled. The Bible contrasts with the Apocrypha that is extensively humanistic. But I doubt you will recognize this simple fact, for only in salvation is the "veil" lifted (2Cor.3:15).
But I commend you for considering Scripture. My experience has been that neo-Catholics loathe the Bible, replacing it with the heretical Catechism and the teachings of fallible men.
