We need to understand that life is not waiting for us to start. This is life. This is your life. You are here. But we do have to ask the questions: should I be here? And is what God wants for me enough for me?

Listened to this this morning and it was so edifying. Protestant considering catholicism but living with my anti Catholic parents. When i went to the Protestant church later that morning i was faced with an onslaught of anti-catholic misinformation. First during the sermon the pastor said "the Catholic Church is wrong to have priests because we're all priests." He also said "we don't need to call Mary and others saints because we're all saints." Then later during the a baptism the person who got baptized took a shot at the Catholic Church they attended saying "they taught me work based salvation and i need to continually confess my sins." Finally on the drive home my dad took a shot at the rosery and Catholic "rituals" saying how it was bad.

I’m an artist. I graduated college in May. I’ve been on the job hunt since. It’s been challenging. I know god wants me to focus on being an artist but I just don’t feel like I’ll ever make enough money to pay off bills and loans. Please pray for me that I can trust greater in the lord’s plans for me.

I am an artist. Started my journey in 2004 after graduation. Pace yourself. God asks us to reciprocate patience because our understanding of everything is limited. In the mean time, grab a job and keep doing your art. You have to build over time. Life will throw curve balls. Steady yourself in God not art, for with that love He will have an outlet for you. May I entreat you to seek out Thomas Merton and his wisdom on art.
I hope you haven’t given up on your dream. I’m a fellow artist and I started my business by getting a job cleaning carpets, whilst building up my business. It took a number of years and it’s been a rollercoaster ever since BUT now looking back … it was all meant to be. I’m still finding my way back to God. I never believed in ‘him’ for want of a better word, but life has shown me I was wrong. 🤷🏻♂️ I was just too wrapped up in logic and reason etc. Be what you are. I tried being a person that wasn’t me and it exploded in my face, lol. You’re an artist - be an artist.

And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Matthew 23:9 Catholics don't even match the Bible. The Holy water, Nuns, forced celibacy, etc.

1. What would you call then the spouse of your mother?
2. Does Jesus violate his own teaching when he called Abraham "father" in Luke 16:24?

The scriptures were translated from Hebrew, Greek into English. The English language has synonyms.

You quoted Matt 23:9, "call no man father" (Greek: pater), to show that it is wrong to call anyone "father," like the priests. I will repeat my questions:
1. If it is wrong to call anyone "father," what would you call the spouse of your mother?
2. If it is wrong to call anyone "father," is Jesus therefore wrong when he called Abraham "father" (Greek: pater, same Greek word) in Luke 16:24? If not, why?

I’m so so close to being where I’m supposed to be with Christ. The opportunities he’s placing in my life I’m taking. Things I was going to do for myself He’s showing how I can glorify Him through it. But there’s a sin in having trouble letting go of that’s holding me back from being fully in His Grace. And it hurts. Please pray for me.

How do you do this Fr. Mike? U put into words the word of Jesus into modern day relatable scenarios. You take 2D words and bring them to life! Picking out the perfect phrase, too many times overlooked and purposely shining the spotlight on exactly what the meaning of parable was intended to teach!!❤️ Also, highlighting the message -St. Paul LEARNED the secret that in all circumstances he’s content and never lost. I feel that I am not ready to make a change because I believe what if what God wants from me isn’t enough for me. Will I be lost- after I answer the invitation? --but according to St Paul who went through good/bad, learned that on the other side (after answering the invitation) he was NOT lost. Be hopeful, have faith, and believe -Jesus I Trust In You.

I was asked to consider being a Eucharistic minister by another lay person and so I asked Deacon about his thoughts about Eucharistic ministry and felt discouraged which had left me confused and not sure what to do, am I ignoring something that I am trying not to ignore? Hi Father Mike, thank you so much for this humility. It is so inspiring. I just had one question what if we are not enough for God’s plans because of or difficulties and disabilities?
I also don't like restaurants, I'm indifferent to brands and I find luxury sports cars funny, so you can imagine the problem people had trying to impress me :D The very idea of finding a lover for me as a band-aid for my problems after abuse/bullying has always seemed a little gross to me and similar attempts started at school and I never really understood it and especially now that I have a family. Someone explain it to me.
You are welcome to be in the place where God is but have you prepared yourself, your soul for that moment? Are you ready to see Him, prepared and dress with all your great virtuous and having lived as Christ? I hope I am prepared for that, please pray for me. I will pray for you.
I once had a t-shirt that said, "You Be Where You Be. I Be Here". And, it showed a dot on a map. I may have even worn that t-shirt to the Mall of America, I don't remember.
I only went there once. It was when it was still being built. I sat on the foundation stones, watching the construction workers going about their building and moving stuff all around. It was along the first corner built. I thought that kinda neat.

I hate malls :D But that doesn't mean I'm saving, I'm just buying things online. And yes, we have interactive maps with the point where I am and the marked path I have to take to get there or somewhere else. If not, I have to find a shop that I can see and find it on the map and then take it as a reference. You don't need a YouAreHere point if you're smart enough :D
But this isn't about you, dear one. Are those who are blind, to smart? Are those who are confused, or struggling...not smart? Be gentle and empathetic please. Buying online isn't always smart :)

after all, I don't intend to settle for a spiritual profession after I'm forty, I'll be happy if I find a job (I found my last dev job without a functional Linkdln and with a terrible CV, but I don't think it will work even after ten years), but I guess I have to look at Derry Girls (sister Michael and Michelle will be favourites), it must be an amazing sitcom :D It was criticized in the Upon Friar Review, but I don't think Americans really understand the magic of European humor :D. And besides, it seems brutally realistic in the case of Ireland.

I always thought the people who ignored the invitation and killed the prophets were the chosen people who rejected Jesus so God sent His call out to all the world because He wanted to save everyone. The people who went to the feast were all the others. The guy who did not wear the garment was someone that accepted the call but did nothing with his life too deserve the rewards of haven. If you accept salvation and don't give yourself to others you lose salvation. Salvation is a privilege to accept and not a right.

On the east coast, it was 5pm when this was put out. Saturday vigils start at 4pm. Ergo, he was working on his homily FOR Sunday, and/or Saturday vigil. Only criticism on this vs the content?
I thought the Sunday mass was live on sundays and not recorded during Saturday vigils

I like Father Mike's homilies, but today's homily was so confusing.
I don't understand: Is he giving an allegory to explain a parable. It was very hard for me to connect the allegory of the mall map to the parable of the wedding banquet. It took me hours to figure it out, if I figured it out properly. And I still have an issue with the question 'what if I arrive and it's not enough', especially that we know of the person who after he arrived was thrown out because he doesn't have proper garment. So it wasn't enough.
it would have been easier to just explain the parable in a straight forward way.
