this song makes you feel like you can do anything! I just listened to it before my very first professional job interview to get the nerves out (or just less visible 😌)
A Mike Nichols film... Harrison Ford... Sigourney Weaver... Melanie Griffith... Working Girl. Watched that intro sooo many times. With the Twin Towers.
I would have reunited Harrison and Sigourney in some Star Wars series story concepts, which I had to abort since the untimely loss of Harrison's Star Wars co-star Carrie Fisher (who co-starred with Sigourney in the 2001 movie Heartbreakers) in 2016.
I love Working Girl!! I can't get rid of it! Such a great movie and the music is really awesome!! And everytime I see it it's really sad because we see the WTC often and we realise today that the towers aren't there anymore.... :-(
LOVE LOVE LOVE This version, Carly Simon POWERS this song, along with the accompanying vocals and the orchestral support. When you hear the low tones it swells in perfection.
"We the great and small, stand on a star; and blaze a trail of desire, through the darkening dawn." Coming off of 9-11, I do think this song should be the official anthem of NYC. The words, the film, the sentiment, the music... I don't know if anything captures that unique mixture of feelings quite the way this song does! I once listened to a light, acoustic version of the song... and it sounded like a prayer. Fittingly!
I've just watched the movie 2 weeks ago. And since then I had to watch it 3 times again. And this song keeps going in my head! Love it,thanks for uploading. I don't know...the atmosphere of the movie is very touching...
Let the river run Let all the dreamers wake the nation Come, the New Jerusalem Silver cities rise The morning lights the streets that lead them And sirens call them on with a song It's asking for the taking Trembling, shaking Oh, my heart is aching We're coming to the edge Running on the water Coming through the fog Your sons and daughters We the great and small Stand on a star And blaze a trail of desire Through the darkening dawn It's asking for the taking Come run with me now The sky is the colour of blue You've never even seen In the eyes of your lover Oh, my heart is aching We're coming to the edge Running on the water Coming through the fog Your sons and daughters It's asking for the taking Trembling, shaking Oh, my heart is aching We're coming to the edge Running on the water Coming through the fog Your sons and daughters Let the river run (Let the river run) Let all the dreamers (let all the dreamers) Wake the nation (wake the nation) Come, the New Jerusalem

Revelation 21:2-4 King James Version 2 And I John saw the holy city, NEW JERUSALEM, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
#ugottalisten2b4udie A statement on Simon's official website acknowledges that "the phrases 'Silver Cities Rise' and 'The New Jerusalem' seem to have taken on a new meaning for many people, but the song was not originally composed with any particular political and/or religious overtones." However, the phrase "new Jerusalem" has been recognized by other observers as an allusion to the works of William Blake. wiki B-side "Turn of the Tide" from the 1984 Democratic National Convention see: "Carlotta's Heart" - Carly Simon
The New Jerusalem is the ultimate fulfillment of all God's promises. The New Jerusalem is God's goodness made fully manifest. Basically, heaven on earth where you can make something of yourself greater than your expectations, that was New York coming out of the 70s and 80s. Well at least you could dream with nothing till everything became unaffordable.
I never saw this time, but this song seems too majestic for such a petty office politics story. It should have been used for a grand high fantasy adventure about a woman becoming a hero on her own terms.
Kind of ironic for a movie that starts with such an awesome gospel song to not have a single person of color in the cast 🙈 but I still love it. Glad times have changed in some aspects.
Well, ain’t that good for you! Nothing ironic here. Mixing in misplaced POC just because woke dogma suddenly beset on society generally has an opposite effect. People don’t show it but deep down there are sighs of dismissal and eye rolls. So, get down from your high moral horse and just enjoy the song and the movie just on the merit of them, not the optics.
I love the movie and this version is the best one!
Yeah definitely ! This Gospel choir version combined with the skyline view
can I find it on Spotify?
I absolutely agree this is the best version
@@Peace-Evolution I was mad when I couldn't find this version in youtube after watching the movie a few years ago. It seems that they have fixed it.

I love Joan Cusack, and her character in this movie was hilarious!
Positive, right, powerful and innocent. Almost as everything I love from the 80s. Great song.

THIS should be the theme song for the NEW generation rising in this nation!!
Sorry, this was my generation's song. I lived it and have now come out the other side.
This was a great movie
I feel like go getting me a job lol
Everytime I listen 🎶 to this song
Yep. Definitely the best one.
Let the river run
Let all the dreamers wake the nation
Come, the New Jerusalem
Silver cities rise
The morning lights the streets that lead them
And sirens call them on with a song
It's asking for the taking
Trembling, shaking
Oh, my heart is aching
We're coming to the edge
Running on the water
Coming through the fog
Your sons and daughters
We the great and small
Stand on a star
And blaze a trail of desire
Through the darkening dawn
It's asking for the taking
Come run with me now
The sky is the colour of blue
You've never even seen
In the eyes of your lover
Oh, my heart is aching
We're coming to the edge
Running on the water
Coming through the fog
Your sons and daughters
It's asking for the taking
Trembling, shaking
Oh, my heart is aching
We're coming to the edge
Running on the water
Coming through the fog
Your sons and daughters
Let the river run (Let the river run)
Let all the dreamers (let all the dreamers)
Wake the nation (wake the nation)

Best version 💚🙏💚. Who sings this version please? Xx
Carly simon
Great movie. Never get lips done. Look how beautiful Melanie was before.
Ashleigh Ball needs to cover this song with Tara Strong, Kazumi Evans, Nicole Oliver, Cathy Weseluck and Kelly Sherdian as backup.
Who?
I would induct Carly into the R&R HOF on the basis of this track alone.
super song super film
Can anyone find this version on Spotify?
Did you find it on Spotify as I did not have luck
