I played all the Bethesda Fallout and I recently finished Fallout 2 , starting Fallout 1 . As someone who loved BG3 and Wasteland 3 , those games are amazing especially considering they came out in the 90s
Yeah, no. While a different type of game, the first two are significantly better (if dated). Then comes New Vegas, which is significantly better than 3, which is better than 4.
I Started with 3 loved it Then did New Vegas Loved it+ then played 3 and New Vegas Like 11 more times fully then 4 came out then expend like 300 hours in it then i decided when i was bit older to play 1 and 2 loved 1 loved 2 even more.
But at least fallout 3 and 4 offer way more freedom of movement and exploration in the opening 5-10 hours of the game. The first act of New Vegas is pretty linear, as the game practically forces you to take one certain path and severely punishes you from attempting to travel in other directions. (Yes, I know that there are certain secret ways to get to the northern half of the map straight from Goodsprings, but no newbie will ever figure that out on their first playthrough and will just follow the same beaten path)
@@youarealwayscorrect oh the first 5-10 hrs of fallout 3 you mean dicking around in a vault as a baby, new vegas basically anyone who doesnt talk to the npcs is going to throw themselves at that area until they get around it, aka newbies.
@@obscure.reference come on, Fallout 3's prologue is not that long. I always spend the same amount of time dicking around Goodsprings as I do in vault 101. Both prologues last around an hour at a moderate pace. Do you have any mods installed? There's a couple of necessary stability mods + a mod to fix the tickrate being tied to fps. Btw if you are using mods, never use NVSR, it is a crash magnet
Most people are just saying to start with what they think is best or what they started with first. My personal favourite is New Vegas however there is no right or wrong game to start with. Fallout 1 is an old game from 1997 with top down turn based style. If you like CRPGS like Balders Gate 3 then you will like this. Fallout 2 is similar to Fallout 1 in terms of gameplay and released a year later. Though i would say play the first before it, there is nothing stopping you from playing this first. Fallout 3 is the first Bethesda Fallout and when the games went first person. It's gameplay isn't as smooth as other FPS games. It's a fun game to explore. Side quests are the most interesting part of the game. DLCs are worth it. It's a good start if you can look past to the clunky FPS gameplay. Fallout: New Vegas is similar to Fallout 3 in terms of gameplay so the same applies. What New Vegas does best is story and you will have a great time with characters in this. The DLCs are fun too. Fallout 4 is a good start too because the gameplay is vastly improved for FPS style. Though some of the role playing elements have been toned down. It's still fun. If you like exploring and building settlements then this will be great for you. The DLCs are again fun to play. Fallout 76 is an online game so only get it if you like playing online. Fallout Shelter is more about managing your vault. You can play it on your phone. Download and try it if you want. There is an online version of Shelter too. Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel and Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel don't need to be mentioned as they spin-offs most people aren't aware of. If someone want to play them, then it's their choice. I would say Fallout 4 is easiest to start with. It's not my personal favourite but it's very easy for newcomers. The controls are very easy to use. As you can play the other games after. Your favourite is your favourite so don't let others decide what you can like most.
My favorites are 3 and New Vegas, but I would suggest starting with 4. It's not a great fallout game, but it's still fun, and it's available on modern consoles. And if the first timers enjoy it, then play 3, NV, and keep going down the fallout rabbit hole, all the way to the beginning. Fallout 76 is way better now, though I recommend playing it with friends.
i’m having a surprisingly good time with Fallout 76. it’s not my first, but it’s been a fun way to casually return to the series after so long without playing one
Honestly it doesn’t matter. Each game has their own little story that is mostly separate from the others. If you’re interested in lore and the different characters and factions and want to learn more you can look it up.
If you like CRPGs. Since those have been making a comeback. They should release Fallout 1 and 2 as a re-release and put them on consoles. Then more people can see what Fallout was like back in the 90's and before it went first person.
Play 3 first, then NV, then 4 then 76, and play 1, 2, and Tactics in that order at any time. I played 4 first and it's hard to go back and play 3 because of how different the mechanics are.
Want good Combat, Visuals and Mechanics? 4 Want good story, rpg and being lobotomized? NV Want to play with friends? 76 Want to be abducted and robbed? 3 Want an RPG? 1 and 2 Want literally anything else but what was mentioned? F:BOS/F:T.
Fallout 3 has the best fish-out-of-water Vault Dweller immersion if you wanna roleplay like the TV series did. The perfect game for starters if you don’t mind the 16-year-old graphics. Fallout New Vegas is 3 but with the better story, game mechanics and non-linear choices. Many longtime fans consider this game as the best in the franchise. Fallout 4 is the easiest game hook into for your Fallout fix. It has the most fun gameplay. However, its story and non-linear choices are less in comparison.
The nice thing about the series is that, while there are call backs to earlier games, each game has a self contained story that lets you skip around as you will. The only advice I'd give for the 3D games is save Fallout New Vegas for last. Fallout 3 and 4 are excellent games in their own right but you might be disappointed if you play them after the high water mark that is New Vegas.
Started with 4 when its got released but its so borin that ive put it down and never play it ever again. However, i just picked up New Vegas couple of weeks ago and im about to finish Fallout 1 and starts my journey on the 2nd one, what a frickin ride. New Vegas is prolly one of, if not, the best game ive ever played….no mods too.
I started with Fallout 3 a couple of months before the show aired on Amazon (as it was free on epic). Then completed Fallout 4 and currently now in New Vegas. If you a new player start with either FO4 (with its great gameplay loop) or FO3 (with its spectacular atmosphere).
If you want to understand all the references, backstory, and the reason for the game's existence, the first Fallout game is the way to go. Yes, it's nearly 30 years old at this point (and it was built to run on computers that are no longer being made) its still available on Steam and you can speed run it in an hour and a half if you skip most of the dialogue, cut scenes and combat.
Being newer player I started off with 4 and its pretty fun (especially when you add mods) 76 has been okay but I get bored Just started NV today so I am excited, hopefully I will be updating this soon with my review
It was probably a concession made to include all the games for this video, but I'd say Fallout 4 takes the cake for exploration too over Fallout 3. IMO, if you're the kind of person that loved STALKER and exploring the Zone then I'd highly suggest Fallout 4 and playing on the survival difficulty mode. I loved the Capital Wasteland, but it's definitely dated nowadays. If you want you can treat it as a sister piece to New Vegas and play them with the Tale of Two Wastelands mod so you can play New Vegas then can play Fallout 3 with the updates of New Vegas. Also on New Vegas I highly recommend following the initial section of the Viva New Vegas modding guide. It adds various bug fixes and utilities to make New Vegas run better overall. Takes maybe 30 minutes to get through (maybe longer if you're completely new to modding a Bethesda game).
If you arent into playing older games i say start with 4. If you dont mind older games that still kinda hold up then go for New Vegas. If you played 4 or are in the first category i also recommend trying 76. It surprised me recently when i tried it. Its fun. Actually ranked up to level 60 before next gen update for 4. For me personally New Vegas is the best. Love 4 too tho. I think you should play 1 and 2 after playing New Vegas and 4. The others are optional depending on if you get really into the franchise
As a New Vegas die hard. I strongly recommend people start playing fallout at Fallout 3. I know, I know, it’s sacrilege but since playing New Vegas and FO4 before FO3. I didn’t get the chance to enjoy what FO3 was trying to offer because in many ways New Vegas and FO4 are an improvement. But what FO3 does better, I think is the early game. Unlike FO4 and NV the tutorial takes place in the vault and then you are dropped almost smack dab in the center of the map with no real direction on where to go. This lack of awareness for what the wasteland holds for you is terrifying, and since there’s not really anything that dictates where you can or can not go you can have a different experience almost every time.
Which one has the easiest combat? I'm starting with fallout 4 and I can't get a hang of it for the literal life of me I love the vibe of this one, but bullets don't seem to hit enemies sometimes and I can't use V.a.t.s because I can't figure out the most efdective way to use it. I always suggest starting with the first game. Save often and in different slots until you figure out what you're doing. If a ten year old with no guides can beat it, you can too.
Start with FO1in2/ Fallout Et Tu for Fallout 2. It's Fallout 1 recreated in Fallout 2. As a result of that, it fixes a ton of bugs from Fallout 1. It's customizable, so you can make it play completely like Fallout 1, Fallout 2, or a hybrid of both. It's the best way to play Fallout 1. Plus you have Fallout 2 obviously.
W takes! I started with 3 last year and the thing I remember most is the exploring, it's why I preferred it over New Vegas until NV's plot really got going.
I started with 4 and didn't get to the other games yet but i decided to get fallout 1 and it was SOOOO good and it is older than me, it could get a remake that would be good if it doesnt have Bethesda get its grubby hands on it
Played them all and honestly vegas is amazing! If you can add all the mods for graphics ect. Loads of great dialogue choices that effect the games outcome. Truely enjoying streaming this master piece!
The first two games are for a certain audience-crpg fans, or folks who enjoy adventure or strategy titles. The modern games are all action-rpgs, even the deservingly praised New Vegas. Nothing wrong with that, but trying to convince players who crave the immersion of that 3d action loop to play Fallout & Fallout 2 is a waste of time. That said, all modern commentary on the first two games highlights F2 as the best one, which kind of breaks my heart. Mostly because it's longer and better achieves the open-world ambition of the first. It's also an inferior introduction to the world; sillier in tone, with some dubious (dated) humour; and some questionable plot choices (although suitably impressive in scope). It's an incredible game, full of must-see sights and experiences-with many mechanical improvements on the original-but doesn't have anywhere near the replayability of the first; not least because its length makes that less appealing. Speaking for myself, the plot and tone are also more likely to wear out their welcome. The first game has hands down the purest, most iconic introduction to the world, people and politics and most consistent vision; setting you loose into a hostile world, as an ignorant nobody on a quest to save their home.
I would say fallout three might be the best place to start because the introduction really does introduce the world. BETHESDA doesn’t get enough credit for the way they create big moments. Just go into it knowing that there are better games in the series. But if you have trouble getting a hold of fallout three on a system you can play, go for fallout four. Of course the RPG elements are massively dumped down but as a first taste I think it’s probably the best place to start., Your second game should probably be new Vegas
if you're not into pushing yourself to try the very old f1 & f2, f3 is the best start. followed by fnv, then f4. finally, f76 for the remaining fun. starting in fnv is like starting in s2 of a new series.
fallout 3 was my favourite to playthrough but i feel no need to replay even thou i have many times. the story was amazing and environment is unmatched but doesnt branch off like new vegas does. new Vegas i can play over and over again to this day but playing 3 for the first time was unforgettable. 4 i feel they tried WAY to hard to make the gameplay good that they forgot what makes fallout, well fallout. kinda more looter shooter imo but still good! i can see why people like 4 im just a story driven lore kinda guy i guess and contemplate my decisions like they matter lol. imo if you play on pc look up tale of two wastelands if you havent played 3 or nv. best way to play imo unless you want the raw old school fallout 3
The only problem I have with new Vegas is that it becomes a walking simulator between points of interest like especially when you start a new game. There’s not that many events that happen when jogging to the next area. But other than that it’s probably the best out of all the fallout games
I don't know if I'd say FO4 has great visuals. Even for the time it was well behind it's peers. But that makes it all the easier to ignore it's visuals after you've played New Vegas or 3.
It took me 5 years after it came out to play Bioshock, after it was recommended by a co-worker. I mainly play FPS and story based games, but I never got into Fallout. I mainly wasn't interested in it's post apocalypse setting.
I would recommend that you play New Vegas, Fallout 3, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 in this order. Yes, I said Fallout 76. I said what I said and I am standing on business. It is a great game too.
Personally my first fallout was new vegas and then 4 so i was gonna play nv, then 3, then finally finish off with 4 since i got it for sale when the show released. Waiting for 76 to go on sale or to finish the others before i commit to buying it full price. Steam probably isnt the best way to play but i can deal with a few resets to fix sound since i only paid about 5 each for the games and all the dlc.
I am quite happy with the renewed interest in older Fallout games, but the choice of showing mid to end game footage of several games is baffling. Maybe a spoiler alert warning could have been appropriate?
4 or 76 if you just want to jump in. 3 and New Vegas needs a little bit of modding so you can play on modern PCs since these two games are ancient. If you're willing to learn how to install mods, I'd go the 3/NV route.
@@ukiyoideas2215 there's underlying issues with it that kind of makes it hard to deal with. Such as the game using at Max 4gb ram and could cause issues. It's not running the game at its best.

Reality is: all fallout games feel very old for one reason or the other. They really should make current gen editions of fallout2 and then new vagas, while releasing the new games.
Coming from someone who has played every fallout game multiple times over. Play fallout 3, then fallout new vegas, then fallout 4, then if you love all those go back and play the early fallout games in the order they were made, they are old school top down games but they have good story lines, then when you want your heart to be broken play fallout 76. I also highly recommend playing them on pc over console for the mods, since everything that you can think I wish this was a bit better has been made better with a mod on pc.
I just can’t get around playing a fallout that is online I think it’s just made to be single player anyways but should always have a main story no matter what and sure if you wanna do multiplayer have multiplayer and single player but if I play any Bethesda game single player with a good story the fallout show was really awesome also I’m ready for season 2 already I finished the 1st season the day it dropped 😂
Buy them all in a sale, play Fallout 4's prologue, uninstall it, play Fallout 3's prologue, uninstall it, play Fallout 1 (with mod playing it in F2's engine), Fallout Tactics, Fallout 2 (with restoration mod), and Fallout: New Vegas (with restoration mods).
Im playing 4. I am a massive Elder Scrolls fan so i was always turned off ny Fallout. Tbs, i am absolutely hooked, ive been playing non stop since the update

W takes! I started with 3 last year and the thing I remember most is the exploring, it's why I preferred it over New Vegas until NV's plot really got going.
Exactly. I love the mood of 3 when you're in the world, but the New Vegas story is so much better than what Bethesda put together.
When did coach start working for game spot?
The only thing that makes 4 a bit rough for newbies is the whole When Freedom Calls. What where they thinking making you fight a Deathclaw that early?
I like the look of the first Fallout, reminds me of Ultima which was when I was playing video games
I'm new to u channel enjoying it so far 🇯🇲
I started with 1, 2 eons ago and then jumped to 4 because of the show. I’m saving NV for next as it’s meant to be the best.
Saving every ones time: It really doesnt matter which fallout as long as it isnt 76 - at least at start. I would recommend 3 or New vegas either or.
I’m on fallout 4 wit hella mods and I am having a blast “ my first fallout game”
This would be a good time to remake Fallout 1 & 2, as well as remastering 3 and New Vegas.
I first played the Fallout 4 back in 2016, then recently Fallout 3, for next I think I'll be taking Fallout New Vegas
Fallout 3 is my favorite followed by 4. New Vegas didn’t feel the same to me
how much of new vegas did you get through
I started with BoS but i highly recommend starting with Fallout 3.
Fallout 4 is my first (The gameplay is what make me play more)
Fallout 1 and 2 won't be much of an appeal for most fans of the show unless you love old school isometric rpgs.
4 or 76 if you just want to jump in. 3 and New Vegas needs a little bit of modding so you can play on modern PCs since these two games are ancient. If you're willing to learn how to install mods, I'd go the 3/NV route.
I have played NW in steam and works like a charm , never had an issue with it
@@ukiyoideas2215 there's underlying issues with it that kind of makes it hard to deal with. Such as the game using at Max 4gb ram and could cause issues. It's not running the game at its best.
I'm new...Fallout 4...most realistic, best graphics, tv show power armor, seems most approachable.
Just started with 2 and i love it (After i got through the tutorial)
i’ve been a fallout hater. couldn’t get past the first hour. loved fallout shelter to play in school.
but the tv show opened me up to the fact not all vaults are good. and not i’m in. i love a good government conspiracy
Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas and just forget about the others
you'd be missing out
Reality is: all fallout games feel very old for one reason or the other. They really should make current gen editions of fallout2 and then new vagas, while releasing the new games.
Fallout 76 was my first experience with Fallout and honestly It was actually quite nice
Easy, FO NV, excellent story and aged quite well, second FO3 also excellent story but a bit clunky in the violent part, than FO4
I also highly recommend playing them on pc over console for the mods, since everything that you can think I wish this was a bit better has been made better with a mod on pc.
bro the 10 minutes to get those midrolls
I just can’t get around playing a fallout that is online I think it’s just made to be single player anyways but should always have a main story no matter what and sure if you wanna do multiplayer have multiplayer and single player but if I play any Bethesda game single player with a good story the fallout show was really awesome also I’m ready for season 2 already I finished the 1st season the day it dropped 😂
Fallout 1 & 2 are two of my favorite games of ALL TIME.
Maybe Larian should do a remake of fallout one and two
newbies neeeeed t0o start with 4 then nv if they like fallout
what if i like metro games i have clear them all wich the best
Buy them all in a sale, play Fallout 4's prologue, uninstall it, play Fallout 3's prologue, uninstall it, play Fallout 1 (with mod playing it in F2's engine), Fallout Tactics, Fallout 2 (with restoration mod), and Fallout: New Vegas (with restoration mods).
Why
my order was 4 < 76 < new vegas < 3 < 2< 1< tactics
Play 1, 2, Tactics, and New Vegas, then move on.
Yall should do a dlc list also
Im playing 4. I am a massive Elder Scrolls fan so i was always turned off ny Fallout. Tbs, i am absolutely hooked, ive been playing non stop since the update
Why would being a massive elder scrolls fan turn you off of fallout
@@R17759They probably only liked the medieval fantasy setting and not post-apocalyptic world with guns.
Fallout:nv glaze is crazy
1 and 2 are such gems. I wish people extend their attention span to play these
Start with New Vegas it’s the best one
Tactics is canon, just semi canon
Now if your a PlayStation player and you want to play fallout 3 or Vegas then yeah you can’t buy the game you would need PlayStation premium to
Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 3, Fallout 76
all in order
where is fallout pinball
4 is the only one available for most people
What? You must be PlayStation player. 3, 4, new Vegas and 76 are all cheap to decent price with backwards compatibility of Xbox. I have all platforms so I don't have this problem. They are easy access minus 1 and 2. Unless you are PC all are accessible.
1 and 2 are still good just abit tactical
short answer?
Me just trying to beat fallout 4 😅
Same!! 😂
Really good video!
Why pick one when you can play all of them
