@@SoziFang64 Yes, cause there is so microscopicly little of it. It is like comparing worlds smallest most detailed diamond to a giant gold ancient historical artifacts exhibition. The diamond is neat and cool but it pales in comparison to sheer size and depth of countless historical artifacts on display.
@diamondhamster4320 I really don't see how you think that there is not much lore and story in half-life, when the game is entirely narrative driven, having a lot of questions open for the player to interpret without them feeling like plotholes.

I would like to extend a personal thank you for this video. I remember when Laidlaw was actively dropping those posts and when he released the script for "Epistle 3", I figured Valve isn't going to take the story anywhere and this guy wrote it so this must be canon. It took a long time for people to even start really including the lore from Laidlaw in their videos and I mean, the topic had already been stale for many years. It just feels nice that someone took the time to organize all the data and to make a full video essay (a high quality one at that) and make it something that can actually be visualized. So yes, thank you Mr. Skyrionn.

Prey (2017) is an unbelievably fantastic game that I think is overlooked too often. The world is fantastically created, it has a somewhat rigid timeline of events, and so so so much background information that fill in the blanks. Is it obvious I am too into Prey? :)

The begining really shows you the small details in the textures of half life, like the strider in the seven hour war poster.
Also im sorta confused why someone who goes by skyrionn never talks about skyrim(except that one time 5 years ago) . I need a video on the most emotionally brutal ways to steal faendals crush from him
Half-Life is full of those small details.
I did consider Skyrim, and the Elder Scrolls but there are already some amazing content creators that cover it!

I have great memories of playing half-life 1 for the first time and Blue Shift immediately after. I was and still am fascinating to play through a game from a different perspective and allowing a deeper understanding of that world.

I fell asleep to this and woke up at the end where everything was described with different names and was so confused
If Entropy Zero 2 were canon and the backstory of the Combine Advisors were canon as well, it would explain how Entropy Zero 2's protagonist, 3650's consciousness and memories were stored at - a larval combine advisor.
for Jeff's section Valve basically look at the last of us part two saw the rat king section and said "let's make that incredibly horrifying and make jeff basically immortal till the trash compactor."
Duuuude no matter what video i watch this video keeps trying to auto play after for a month now, ive already watched the whole thing and no matter what i do i cannot get youtune to stop auto playing this hearing the intro 100 times is literally driving me insane

Crazy to think that the microwave was likely gordon's last act of free will, the last real time he did something because we wanted to (if we ignore the fact that he is controlled by the player)

It would be awesome if you did Halo and Metal Gear Solid. These full lore and timeline videos are so well done because you back up the scripts with actual gameplay footage but done in really creative ways instead of just showing cutscenes straight up and gameplay
But I also know how much time this stuff must take lol
My head canon is that the Combine are humans.
And that every race they’ve assimilated are humans.
I mean Half Life is part of a multiverse. It’s entirely possible that in another universe somewhere humanity either evolved differently or progressed a LOT faster. They went out into their universe and found… nothing.
So they developed universal travel and left.
When they reached their destination they went to earth and found humans that were ALMOST them. They assimilated them and moved on. Over and over and over. Moving from one universe to the next, adding the different variations of humanity to their conglomerate.
G-man is Gordon Freeman from another of the Universes. His masters are just the Black Mesa, or maybe the Aperture, of his universe.
Xen is filled with remnants of humans from different universes. Changed into “beasts” by interbreeding.
This explains why all the tech works across the different universes - because it’s all made by the same species.

@@Skyrionn No worries! The storyline in it fits in so well with Half-life and portal that it's difficult not to consider it cannon! But you still need to do what works for you
